Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Thanks Picturethis for letting me know too

eightieshopaholic · 11/01/2012 20:06

Well I am so nervous, my scans tomorrow will be 9wks or 13wks fingers crossed. Think more like 9. Does anyone know how much scan pics are?

MrsLister · 11/01/2012 20:13

Thanks lovemarmite and mrsmamma for your responses. I might just sit it out till the midwife calls to make an appointment.

I'm having the combined scan (15th Feb at 9am - eek!) and will see what comes of that.

blackcatsdancing · 11/01/2012 20:17

"picturethis* i'm contemplating the amnio instead of cvs also. but to be honest right now its too abstract and i need to see what the scan and bloods tell me before i make up my mind.
lovemarmite fetal medicine in london are the only private company that are recommended by ARC to do CVS or amnio, they charge £180 for NT scan and bloods. I know you are thinking of the scan/bloods only at the mo but thought you'd like an idea of what a highly expert and well regarded service charge. ARC may be able to tell you of other centres near you who have sonographers who have been trained to fetal medicine standards or to similar level. If you post on antenatal tests you should get some good replies from those who know far more than me. I'm lucky as i'm only an hour from London .

blackcatsdancing · 11/01/2012 20:20

actually fetal medicine are private clinic and all their profits from the clinic go into the charitable side of their work (training , research and education)

NathanDetroit · 11/01/2012 20:43

eighties - my hospital says they charge £5 for scan photos. Take lots of change, good luck!

PoppyS34 · 11/01/2012 20:55

Wow, this thread is so busy :o

Hello everyone new - waves -

lovemarmite I've got my NHS dating scan and NT scan as a combined scan a week on Monday, when I'll be 11+6. We're going to see what the NHS say and then do like most people do, and book in with the Fetal Medicine centre if we're unhappy with the NHS results.

I've been reading all the posts about MWs on here and am slightly concerned for my visit now, I hope I get a nice one. I've got so many questions to ask, but I'm worried I won't get time to ask them.

Angel786 · 11/01/2012 21:03

eighties I think our hospital charged about a pound or two per print. So take cash as we forgot once and it took lots of pleading to get the prints and we paid later, no they didn't take credit card Blush

Ps for over enthusiastic mummies to be like myself... You may want to check in advance with the hospital if you can take video footage. The video we had of dd's scan was amazing, whenever I wanted to I'd just play it back and listen to the galloping horses heartbeat. I know for some that may be ott tho!

Lovemarmite · 11/01/2012 22:39

Thanks blackcatsdancing for the extra info. I'm looking at this with DH at the weekend, I'm only 1.5 hours from London and so not a problem if good to go...
Thanks too poppyseed I will look at what my combined scan actually is and read up. I don't think they do the NT scan in my area as a NHS treatment. May ask MW but get the impression I can't just call up and ask her as she she's so busy, nope that sounds ridiculous! I will call her after the weekend!
Good luck with your scans on Monday.

theressomethingaboutmarie · 12/01/2012 08:52

Thank you for the support yesterday everyone. It seems that my body is playing tricks on me - I ended up with night time sickness instead and still very much feel pregnant. I'm just nervous about an MC happening again.

My stats for the list are:

theressomethingaboutmarie (35) due 30th August (DC2)

PoppyS34 · 12/01/2012 10:14

Good luck with the scan today eightieshopaholic, let us know how you get on. x

tashaw28 · 12/01/2012 12:54

Gnomi my friend goes private as she's had lots of problems and her consultant told her if there was a heartbeat at end of week 9 you've got a 95% chance of carrying to term. Hope that helps!

HopefulPositive · 12/01/2012 16:14

Hi all may I join you please? I am due in August with my first. I have been suffering with bad MS and tiredness but in the last two days my symptons have disappeared and I feel fine! I'm really hoping that it is just my body adjusting and not anything wrong. Reading this thread it seems I'm not the only person this has happened to which has given me some comfort. I'm still really tired in the evenings.

NathanDetroit · 12/01/2012 17:46

hi all, having a hard time at the moment, has to be said. Has anyone else had a really tender abdomen? I'm not sure what it feels like, maybe really bad bloating. Standing up is difficult and kind of hurts, I can't walk very fast, get in and out of the car easily. Even doing the clutch takes a bit of thinking about. It's like there is something VERY heavy in my middle so being half bent over is more comfortable. It's not painful as such, just uncomfortable. Getting me down a lot though, it has to be said, when put together with not being able to eat or sleep and feeling sick. Have been feeling very sorry for myself the last couple of days.

Lovemarmite · 12/01/2012 17:58

Hi HopefulPositive and welcome!
Me too - ms seemed to disappear on Tuesday when officially 9 weeks and all but tiredness has gone - in fact today have been so tired that was lucky enough to sit and work on the sofa - a perk of freelance working, I guess but it makes me feel lazy. Me too, a little concerned that something is wrong as apart from the tiredness I don't feel pregnant much...
although I do get a bloated belly too NathanDetroit - definitely describe it as tender as every time DH hugs me I have to turn to the side as it's uncomfortable to press as it's sticking out too. OK this sounds as though I have another symptoms of pregnancy still then?!

I have very low blood pressure naturally and the mw was a little concerned it was 80/40 at this stage. Not getting much symptoms from it but a little dizziness when standing back up at times. Have found though that I am eating more salty things and drinking so much hot water and so hope this is helping.

WelshLadyCDF · 12/01/2012 18:21

Hello, Can i join in too please, I am expecting my first in August with my scan in two weeks, apart from the tiredness I feel ok. I have a promotion opportunity in the next couple of months so would love to keep it from my work colleagues until then, I'll see how I go I already have a little bump (bloatedness I think).
I just wanted to say it's been lovely having your messages to read, I don't have many people to talk with and my b'friend is pretty quiet about the whole thing.

Here are my stats:

Hi WelshLady great to hear from you and congratulations!

geekette · 12/01/2012 19:17

NathanDetroit Had that last night. Hoping to have it this night as I have no other signs of pregnancy. Basically my tummy gets really tight like it is full of air and becomes quite distended. looks awful in a mirror.
I did put last night's episode down to eating too much but I think it is starting again now and I haven't eaten much today...

geekette · 12/01/2012 19:18

And hello to all the newbies :)
