Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Hello everyone getting a big group now!! Found out today my parents had booked a holiday for early sig (due about 1st) they are on about cancelling but told them to wait until 12 weeks!! Went n had a sneaky browse at prams today whilst in town was just too excited Grin

mrsmamma · 03/12/2011 21:17

WAs meant to say aug not sig stupid iphone

PoppySeed34 · 04/12/2011 00:19

Hello everyone, Can i join this group? Smile
just discovered that I'm about 5 weeks. A bit of a shock as first time and only second attempt.. Shock and I don't have many symptoms... tired and need to pee a lot, have felt a bit sick, but no sore boobs or anything like that.

It doesn't seem real atm. Have done two tests, as I didn't believe the first one! Calc says due around 6th Aug... but have been spotting since Tues, so am worried about counting my chickens so to speak... Blush

TwickersChick · 04/12/2011 08:45

A bit hesitant about joining the August'12 Tribe, don't want to get my hopes up... (and never posted before!)

TTC for 10 months. Got a surprising BFP test (Clearblue Dig, 1-2 weeks) last Sat and promptly started a (very light) period next day - damn. Then it stopped, test still positive, but still reading only 1-2 weeks a week later.

Then last night I felt like i'd done 100 sets of sit-ups and 3 Pilates classes in a row, and today I'm spotting red blood and I'm itchy below.
Is it all over already?
Anything I can or should be doing about it, or just see how it turns out?

New world for me so any thoughts, really, really welcome at this stage!

Westcountrywife · 04/12/2011 09:45

TwickersChick, I really hope everything is ok for you. I'm a newbie to this so can't offer much help. The best thing would be to speak to your doctor tomorrow (or if you can't wait then try phoning NHS direct). From what I've read on these forums, these little uns can be wily beasts and you never can tell. I can sympathise that you're probably stressed out by this but the best thing you can do is relax and take some you time... Is your partner around to offer TLC? Big hugs and wishing you all the best...

SwanseaMum · 04/12/2011 09:54

Hi poppy and Twicker
contracts to you both. I would just like to say spotting is perfectly normal it may be what they call an implantation bleed, when the new fetus is embedding into the uterus.
I have had terrible left hand pelvic pain in everyone of my pregnancies ( having my third child) and I bled on my second. If you are really worried the best thing to do is to go to the gp who can refer you to the early pregnancy unit (been through this with all of them too) where the will do blood tests to see if your hormone levels are going up and a scan to see if the pregnancy is in the right place.
try not to stress too much until you know something definite hope this helps xx

SwanseaMum · 04/12/2011 09:55

Bloody predictive text sorry if it doesn't make sense lol

mrsmamma · 04/12/2011 10:45

Hi newbies! Congrats I know plenty of people who have experienced spotting and it's been fine go and get it checked out though! Xx

warzonemummy · 04/12/2011 15:18

Dear Twicker, I have heard of many people that bleed the first few weeks. I hope it all settles soon and you get peace of mind.

Today I had the worse ever pain in my stomach and around my back. It was so bad that I was bent over and couldn't straighten myself. I turned on the heater and drunk some hot tea. I just hope all is well. I wish I could sleep and wake up at 21 weeks. Also haven't been able to sleep last few nights. I keep having nightmares, nothing pregnancy related just regular nightmares I can't recall. DH is away so am home alone :(

mrsmamma · 04/12/2011 16:36

Apparently strange dreams are common! Sorry to hear about your stomach pain sounds awful! I get like a strong period like pain sometimes!! My sister in law just did a cotton n needle test on me n apparently it days I'm having a boy! She swears by it said it's been accurate for her n her friends so we shall see Grin

mrdarceych · 04/12/2011 17:23

Can someone enlighten me on the cotton and needle test please!??!

TwickersChick · 04/12/2011 18:04

Thanks all, you've been so lovely.
Will check it out tomorrow.

MrsM, do tell about the cotton and needle test - sounds interesting!

warzonemummy · 04/12/2011 18:20

I soooooo want to know what the cotton and needle test is.
I can't wait to know the sex of the little bean.
Anyone feeling morning sickness yet? I was told starts at 5 weeks. I am now 4w 5d. I just want it to start and finish soon and then the scans. does anyone know when does a heartbeat show on a scan?

Gnomi · 04/12/2011 18:49

Heartbeat shows around 16 weeks I think. I think I read that they check it at the 2nd scan, but I'm not sure when that is.

No morning sickness yet, but I'm glad to hear that period-like cramps are normal- been having them on and off for a while. Not badly, and no spotting or anything.

Do you think we'll have to wait longer than normal for scans, midwife appointments and so on because of Christmas? Really hope not!

Hope things settle down soon - especially for you Twicker.

SwanseaMum · 04/12/2011 19:19

I was scanned in EPU at 6 weeks and I could see the heart beat it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen :)

you can't see it before 6 weeks

mrsmamma · 04/12/2011 19:59

Get a piece of cotton on the end of a needle. Hold the end of the cotton above your stomach with the needle dangling above ur belly. Try and stay as still as possible. If it swings in a circle its a girl and if it sways from side to side it s a boy! You can also do the chinese gender test and that said boy for me too. Having said all that i think girl!! Ive always pictured myself with a daughter. Heartbeats by the 12 weeks scan i think!

I am having to wait a week and half later for my midwife app as she is off for xmas grrrr. so ill go the midwife at 10 weeks n then have my scan 2 weeks later!

mrsmamma · 04/12/2011 20:01

p.s anyone else symptomless? other than sore boos i feel fine !!!

Lizbeth77 · 04/12/2011 20:38

Hi, I have found out I'm preg for the first time this morning, due 4th Aug apparently! Feeling a bit shell shocked tbh & suddenyl realised I have absolutely no idea what comes next. Registered here to hopefully get a clue (although I don't understand most of the abbreviations, is there a glossary?!)

Westcountrywife · 04/12/2011 21:01

Lizbeth, there is a guide to acronyms on the forum frontpage... Congratulations and welcome!

I've got doctors appointment before Xmas, he wants to see me as I also have arthritis and have been off my meds so that we can do this... not seeing midwife till new year cos of the holidays. Not great but means January should be an exciting month!

Swanseamum you were right. We told DH's family and they were lovely and excited... they wouldn't let me carry anything or do anything though. Might enjoy this.... Wink

SwanseaMum · 04/12/2011 21:28

Lol westcountrywife.
I am so glad that that is one stress less for you :)
Trust me on thus it will get a bit wearing after a while but just remember that they are only telling you not to lift shopping bags or the Hoover because they love you ;)

Westcountrywife · 04/12/2011 21:53

XboxWidow30 · 05/12/2011 09:42

Morning ladies. Not many symptoms as yet. Just very sore boobs, lol! We went out with friends on Fri night and another couple announced they were expecting their 2nd baby, I wanted to jump up and shout 'me too!' but restrained myself!. Hoping the next 7 weeks goes quickly to get to 12 week scan and I can relax a little then.

Hello to all the new ladies on here too. :)

MegsLT · 05/12/2011 10:09

I'm due August 10th- just found out!!!
