Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Aw, glittershoes, I know what you mean. Been trying to figure out how to deal with family Xmas when I'll have to drink some champagne.

My STUPID partner basically forced me into an alcholic drink last night with a friend. I said I didn't want to drink as I'm having trouble sleeping (true) so he said, "oh, have some booze!" and said friend was like "yeah" and he said "I'll drive" so... Sipping VERY slowly! When I told him off after he said he forgot!

Can you do spritzers and pretend it's real wine? Good luck.

Angel786 · 07/12/2011 18:34

Haha Nathan! if men went thru it then they'd remember!

I think a small bit actually isn't that bad, spoke to a few drs who are friends and they said to avoid heavy drinking but the odd glass won't harm. That having been said I try not to during the first 12 weeks. What I used to do is keep holding a glass, pretending to drink and then dump it pretending all gone and get a 'refill'. Not v cost effective!

First appointment, yes if u register with gp then tell them they'll start to book you in with midwives and hospital etc. Good luck!

glittershoes · 07/12/2011 19:49

Thanks. I'll snap out of it when DH gets home I think - it is just so quick, it feels like a massive adjustment!

Currently crying over not being able to get the Christmas tree right... turns out these hormones are a bit crazier than I first anticipated!

LittlePoppit · 07/12/2011 20:04

Hello, I am joining the August club! I got my bfb last night, then tested this afternoon with a digital which says 3+ so in medical terms I'm 6 weeks and over the moon! Congrats to my fellow August mummies :)

glittershoes · 07/12/2011 20:18

Congratulations LittlePoppit!

mrsmamma · 07/12/2011 21:30

Congrats little poppit!! Welcome to the club? U having any symptoms?

Oh dear glitter shoes, cheer up x

NathanDetroit · 07/12/2011 22:29

glittershoes - you'll get used to the idea - August seems like a really long time away to me, I wish the time would go quicker! Funny isn't it.

x

Testing

crazyforbaby · 08/12/2011 04:15

Oh hi there! Please can I join your gang? I am seeing to one of the children and trying to type too...I seem to be the oldest Mum here and I already have five children with DH. So I decided to POAS stick today and it came back negativeHmm. AF not due for another 4 days, but I have had the boobs, the nausea and the need to eat constantly for the past 3 days. So I'm really not symptom spotting - honest! I will try another cheap PT tomorrow. Take care ladies! Smile

mrsmamma · 08/12/2011 07:25

Good luck crazyforbaby hope you get the result you want

LittlePoppit · 08/12/2011 09:55

i think morning sickness and nausea has started! whilst getting ready for work i started to feel queasy, almost like a hangover. i'm actually 4 weeks not 6 as i said prev. very, very sore boobs too and needing to pee!

tubtoes · 08/12/2011 10:56

GLITTERSHOES - i know how you feel, going through exact same thing, amazed and happy but somehow the shock and fear is superceding it at the moment, similarly we have to move house, buy a car, all this stuff, it happened so quickly and we werent even trying! but it is a wonderful thing and i just tell my self that there is this little person that just really wanted to be! but the nausea and shock is overwhelming, you arent alone!
TT

PoppySeed34 · 08/12/2011 11:08

good luck crazyforbaby :)

this thread is really reassuring. we also need to move etc... eek! so many questions too.

still on shock and doesn't seem real. symptoms seem to come and go as they choose, is that normal?

not felt that sick, but still peeing for england Blush

Angel786 · 08/12/2011 12:37

Argh if I start a list of thi gs to do I'll cry... New pram as current one won't work for two. New car. New house by end next year. New cot set as dd will still be needing her cot...

glitter I cried watching doctors, almost cried in supermarket for no reason... Thankfully less weepy now.

Good luck crazy

littlepoppit I can't stop drinking water, so also need to pee a fair bit! Sorry if tmi!

I bought myself a convertible 2 months ago looks like I'm going to need to change that plus dear hubby has a 2 seater van!! We are so not equipped for a baby!

No sickness still for me just sleeping wAy more than usual and going to bed each night very early!

Roll on 12 weeks scan I'm so anxious to see how things are doing! I'm 7 weeks at wkend so 5 more to go Sad I know once I have my 12 week scan I can relax!

AnaisB · 08/12/2011 14:31

Good luck crazy.

Was worried recently as have stopped feeling nauseous. Tried to buy a pregnancy test that would tell me how far along I was so I could check the dates were as expected, but somehow bought the wrong on so wasted £10. DH assures me that I should stop worrying as I am definitely becoming more hormonal by the day [hmmm]. I'm also getting fatter Smile

Warzonemummy I hope things are going OK for you.

Angel was planning on DD (now 10 months) being in bed by the time the new one outgrows carrycot. If there's any crossover I may make do with using the travel cot for a few months.

AnaisB · 08/12/2011 14:32

oops - too many "m"s in my Hmm!

glittershoes · 08/12/2011 14:51

Hope you get the positive crazyforbaby!

I am feeling much better today - have been to the doctors and he congratulated me (very exciting) and have rung the midwife as well. Feel like a proper pregnant person!

No major symptoms for me as yet, feeling a bit queasy sometimes and a bit emotional but do have a cold as well so could all be linked with that!

Got to work out how to navigate the office Christmas party tomorrow night, only six of us going to one of those dinner party evenings so it will be noticed if I wasn't drinking (someone didn't drink last year and all night there were 'ooh are you pregnant' comments). Not sure if to make up an illness as to why I can't drink or to tell a trusted colleague and try and cover it up a bit!

Any ideas?

Wish it was the 12 week scan now! I feel a bit in limbo, knowing this amazing secret but not being able to tell anyone! Also, slightly worried that it is all imagined and that somehow my body has managed to fake the whole thing!

Angel786 · 08/12/2011 15:00

anais my dd is 1 and i bought a cot bed that'll see her thru till she's five Shock!

glitter last time is sd I was on antibiotics so cldnt drink but was a huge giveaway, wld suggest driving / pretending to drink?

Am itching for private scan, just seen you can have some from six weeks, anyone done this?

Hello ladies... I found out I was pregnant at the weekend. Im 4+5 today. I have been feeling really nauseous and very tired but today I feel fine. Im also getting cramps and back pain today. I know it's normal but I keep expecting to go to the loo and find im bleeding :(. This will be my 3rd child but 5th pregnancy and those M/C are really playing on my mind at the moment :(. I hate worrying all the time! Im really reluctant to see the dr just yet as he will ask me to book with the mw and I would really feel like im tempting fate.

Big congratulations to all the newly pregnant ladies :) Here's to a healthy 9 months!!! X

PoppySeed34 · 08/12/2011 15:28

glitter I've got same prob next week but have decided to go for dinner then leave early and say I'm driving somewhere which is why I can't drink..

I am also thinking I'm imagining It all :)

angel, I've read about these on here, but haven't looked into them. I think I'd like to get one done, it would make it seem at bit more real.

I really am convinced I'm turning mad.. :o

tubtoes · 08/12/2011 15:37

Angel, I had a scan done at 5 wks + 3 days and saw the heart beating, it was really amazing. It was about 30 seconds after i found out i was pregant though so it was all a bit overwhelming to be honest, I even got a photo of my 0.28cm embryo to take with me! It wasnt an ultrasound from the outside but from the inside, if you get the jist.
I am based in Germany thought, so perhaps that makes a difference (I usually bitch about German health care system no end, much to my German DH's annoyance, but I think I have a nice lady doctor..)
So you can scan that early, I just dont know how you can do it in uk
TT

crazyforbaby · 08/12/2011 15:39

Momma don't make any big car changes yet- it can be done so long as you leave the car seat in
place.
Warzone are you managing to rest?
Poppit I too keep needing to pee, but keep taking the fluids! My skin has also broken out on chin - just before a lovely Christmas party tonight-it is so big and red that cars stop thinking it's a traffic light Hmm
Ange, Toes,Glitter and Poppy, try not to worry about the big things - it's scarey though I know.
My mood is v snappy and pmt-ish with DH and DC. I haven't told them there is a reason why...I have had mc's in the past and usually wait for the first trimester to be over. Mind u a nice BFP would be good to have..mebbe I won't POAS again until Sun when AF is due...
