Just did two pg tests and positive (although faint). Took 10 months ttc last time and as DD is almost one I've only had periods for a few months so this is a hugely pleasant surprise!

Anyone-else out there?

Twickers so sorry to hear that. Athough Christmas and NY with champagne Wine xxx

Vycki yes, I think it's q normal to be lethargic / slightly distracted from your normal interests. I'm not sleeping well either - awake every hour or so, but have had insomina since childhood.

KDingus Yay!

No morning sickness yet, am enjoying the pre storm quiet and eating what I want!

Hope you are ok Warzone, agree with calling the doctor. Good luck x

Can I join everyone? I had a really faint BFP last night and have just done a digital and it has come back as positive! Very excited! By my last period date then I am due (eeeeek!) 17th August. Am heading to the doctor tomorrow to speak to him, can anyone advise what to expect or is it just a 'congratulations-don't-drink-wine-and-see-you-in-a-couple-of-months'.

No other symptoms as yet I don't think. Waiting with bated breath for anything that shows me I am!

mrdarceych · 07/12/2011 12:43

Fingers crossed, warzone.
Welcome glitter!!!...sore boobs?? Thats all i have at mo (6 wks) and very wierd dreams, and gotta eat all sorts of wierd things at different times of day...no ms so far( lucky me!)

glittershoes · 07/12/2011 13:34

No sore boobs! But then my boobs don't get sore even around my period. I am suddenly feeling sick but I think that may be me imagining it!

I am also pretty sure I am starting to get a cold, I have a sore throat and headache, obviously I can't take anything for it but should I be worried?

MegsLT · 07/12/2011 13:38

Has anyone else been getting period like pains? I'm really worried but from what I've read nothing to worry about unless there is blood with the cramps!

mrsmamma · 07/12/2011 13:43

Welcome glitter shoes! Ur spot on about the doctor! Mine told me it's early so nothing further at this stage! Seeing midwife at 9 weeks (I'm currently 6)

Yes I do get period like cramps they don't last long but do come n go! Thinks it's ok it's a recognised symptom !

Warzone mummy! Hope all is ok! Smile

warzonemummy · 07/12/2011 14:23

as you can tell from my name I live in a war zone which means very bad healthcare. I went to a nice doctor and waited for 3 hours, she did a scan and told me all was well and I should not worry. I had pain with the bleeding and she said they must have been unrelated. She told me to be on bed rest for a week or so and sent me for a blood test tomorrow. She was really nice. I am in bed now with fruits and DVD's.

Vycki · 07/12/2011 14:26

Hi mrsmamma and MegsLT,
This maybe probably TMI! I was a little concerned about the feeling of cramps (especially in the morning) and was relieved to find out that progesterone slows the bowel and constipation is often experienced.
And as a veggie who eats tons of fibre, I've not had constipation for years and so I think I'm getting the pains of it - I wonder if some of the cramps you're experiencing are due to it a bit too?

Glittershoes - I am sneezing a lot and am tired and so feel like I'm going down with something too. I've heard that sipping warm ginger tea with some lime in it may help. The ginger helps with nausea and the lime for vit C, maybe adding a splash of honey may help the sore throat.
Cricky you have to be very careful with herbs now pregnant and so I hope you can find a good natural cure to help with a cold - please report back if you find any good ones x

Vycki · 07/12/2011 14:28

Hi warzonemummy
Hope all goes well and hope the DVDs are good!

NathanDetroit · 07/12/2011 14:39

hi - can I join you?
Done two tests - one on Monday after feelling really quite odd all weekend (while away with friends and family!). Very happy, but last night had horrid pains which scared me. Another positive test this morning and am five weeks, really hope all goes well. I mainly feel hungover - just a bit rough all the time and yesterday at work I had a sudden urge to vomit but made it go away with crisps. Phew.
Anyone else experiencing dodgy tummy trouble???

tubtoes · 07/12/2011 14:58

Hello everyone, I hope its ok for me to join. I found out on Monday that I am pregnant, 6 weeks on Friday, although I was sick on Sunday night so that was a bit of a clue. Thing is, I have been feeling so sick and crappy since then, exhausted and nauseous the whole time. I just started a new job 3 months ago and wasnt planning to try until this time next year, I have no idea how it happened as OH and I had sex perhaps twice in November! So I am in shock and feeling a bit down about my career and why I'm not feeling over the moon, is this normal? I have wanted a baby for ages though and it was just job stuff that made me think i should wait.
So I have been signed off sick for the rest of this week but determined to go back to work next week, am sort of terrified of feeling this ill, the possibility of losing the baby and what this means for my job...
Sorry to moan as I know so many people try for years, I feel so ungrateful, but also think perhaps I am just protecting myself incase baby doesnt stick around til 12 weeks (had mc this time last year at 5 weeks)
Tried to speak to my OH about it and he just felt really sad and worried about me. So basically I have mixed feelings, v glad that it happened to easily and essentially I am happy about it, but trawling through this nausea and worrying about work means my emotions are all over the place...
any advice or shared experiences would be great! thanks, TT

Vycki · 07/12/2011 15:05

Hi NathanDetroit
Congrats!

I felt at first so hungry that I had to get up in the middle of the night to eat and all I could face was porridge. Hunger, nausea and a slight gag in my throat at times. Must be all the raging hormones?!
I too get a few horrid pains but I have tried to relax about them as I felt myself get quite tense and I think it was making anxious. My friend emailed me saying it's quite normal to worry at the beginning.
I've found eating regularly and small amounts is helping with some of the sickness at the moment.

Vycki · 07/12/2011 15:17

Hi Tubtoes,
Not sure I can really give advice but congratulations!
I can really see where you're coming from with work but it's great news for you and your family!

I put it off and off for work and what started as 2-3 years continued on for 5 and then suddenly it felt like time was running out. Even my MIL said that my time was almost up and I'm 38... cheeky lady!
I guess coming now shows what will be, will be.
Hope you can relax and enjoy
p.s. I was having a fret yesterday as I am freelance and don't get maternity leave, pay etc but today, I am now more relaxed and my sickness lessened too, thank goodness!

Angel786 · 07/12/2011 15:38

war zone good news! Rest up and relax.

welcome Nathan I also had bad tummy issues for a short while but seems more settled now. It went from one extreme to the other!

glitter yes my first gp appointments were fairly non eventful, prescription for colic acid, don't have soft cheese, drink too much, eat swordfish etc... You may get booked in with the midwife too.

tub toes I think being emotional is normal, I was pretty weepy/ felt detached from myself which is v unlike me. With the work stuff, try not to let it get to you too much. My first pg timing was waful had just landed my dream job but had to turn it down and retract my resignation but all of that now seems so irrelevant as I know it was the right thing to do at the time to get more time with my dd, now one.

Gnomi · 07/12/2011 16:21

Hi everyone, this thread seems to be getting very busy!

Warzone Really glad you managed to get checked out and get some good advice. Keep resting!

MegsLT and MrsMamma I've been having symptoms like mild period pain - mostly in the evening, not during the day. I guess it's because I'm standing up all day, and so in the evening things can maybe get a bit... sluggish??? I'm going to mention it to the Midwife when I see her on Monday.

Other than that, I've not had any symptoms. Honestly, I'm really glad the morning sickness hasn't kicked in yet, I've seen friends really suffer with it.

Went to a Christmas do last night, no-one suspected because I was driving, so no drinking, and hardly anyone touched the brie on the cheeseboard!

tubtoes · 07/12/2011 16:25

Thanks Angel and Vycki, I just cried during Glee! I feel like such a pregnancy stereotype, I seem to have all the symptoms. sore bobs, emotional sickness, tired... Felt a bit better this afternoon actually, i have been relaxing on sofa with my puppy, eating every 2 hours, perhaps that is how I can beat the sickness? (and look like a house in the process)
I will try to think about work stuff when it comes, after all I have another 6 weeks until I want to tell them. Thing is i am making proposals for the school year 2012/13 which involve me heavily and i know that i wont be there... but like you say i must have faith that once the baby arrives it will all seem totally irrelevant.
I am based in Germany and at my first appointment (5th dec) they already did a scan and took a photo! I saw the heartbeat, it really was amazing. I have another scan on the 20th, so i can take an 8 wk photo back to uk for xmas to tell my family. Thats the hard bit - wanting to tell my family face to face which means waiting 2 weeks!!
Anyway, thanks for the support I think I will be online quite a lot over next few months!
TT

warzonemummy · 07/12/2011 16:45

So ladies the doctor here gave me Dydrogesterone which I am Googled before deciding to take or not. Here is the page and as you can see it says that it is prescribed to stop miscarriages. It also says that it is not approved in the EU and US or Canada. I am not sure if I should take it. I wonder why this is not permitted in EU etc...???

NathanDetroit · 07/12/2011 17:02

Thanks for the welcome! Angel & Gnomi, thanks too for talking about your "symptoms". My tummy only aches in the evening which is weird but glad I'm not on the only one. I think I'd quite like the tummy to go the other way for a bit as it's quite unpleasant having to dash to the loo three times a morning!

A question - what do I need to do re doctors and midwives and scans and stuff? I'm not registered with a GP (disorganised) so I guess that's the first step...and make an appointment to tell them?

It all feels so weird and a bit tenuous at the moment...

Thanks
xx

SwanseaMum · 07/12/2011 17:29

Hiya.
gnomi i have got my works do on Friday i am taking the car too so that no one will notice :)
warzonemummy The reason why it is not registered is probably because there haven't been enough clinical trials or it is to expensive. Think really carefully b4 taking them and do as much research as possible .
Nathan get registered, thwarting midwife will book you then between 8 and 10 weeks ready for your dating scan at 12weeks :)

My pelvis is bad again looks like i am gonna get PGP again :( i am only 9weeks

SwanseaMum · 07/12/2011 17:30

Bloody predictive text on my phone :s

mrsmamma · 07/12/2011 17:33

Nathan I too had tummy issues particularly first thing in morning but seems to have wore off now!!

Warzone mummy so pleased for you! Make sure you get plenty of rest!

I only been in my job 2 months so am hugely fretting too but what will be will be !

glittershoes · 07/12/2011 17:49

Glad things are getting sorted Warzone, I would do some more research on the drugs - are there any reports on why they are not legal in the UK? Any reported side effects/risks? Keeping everything crossed for you x

I have been a bit weepy in the last hour - my DH is working late and the reality that, if all goes well, then we will have a baby in 9 months has just hit me. It was our first month of trying and I sort of expected to take a lot longer.

Please don't get me wrong, I am so so happy and excited and grateful, I really can't tell you how much, but also shocked and stressing a little - we really need to move, we need a new car, we have so many alcohol themed events in the next six weeks it is unreal (including a week in a log cabin with friends in Scotland with a hot tub...) - no idea how to fake them!

And now I am feeling guilty for feeling like this - please tell me that I am being ridiculous and silly and that I am so so lucky to have this tiny bud of a baby in my tummy.

I know I am.

glittershoes · 07/12/2011 17:51

Nathan, meant to add - yes to the funny tummy in the morning, very disconcerting!
