Ooooh getting very clucky here reading about all your purchases of dinky things for dinky little people Grin

nickstermum · 25/03/2011 18:24

Tesco clothes are actually really hard wearing owl sainsburys kiddies stuff is also really good. M&S seem to be a really big fit, and so are next & mothercare...and yet M&Co seem to be a really small fit! Mix and match the lot and you are sorted! George at Asda do a nice range and believe it or not i got DS some jeans from matalan for under a fiver a pair - perfect for getting gritty in the garden Grin

I got DS a second hand [ebay special] ted baker tshirt the other week - Saddo!! Love it! Boden stuff is great, but their trousers dont wash well... and everything is mega pricey... but their polo shirts are very nice.

Anyway, have ordered a very nice chinese for tea, yummy aromatic duck as we are celebrating Grin

I bet sunday night or very early hours for Lia.... 9lb11 Grin

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 25/03/2011 18:40

can you actually buy clothes from tesco online? wherewherewhere? because I always get annoyed at not being able to tag them onto my groceries.
Both tesco and sainsbury's have a pretty good kiddie clothes range :)

nicks I love buying clothes for my DS.

wombat wait until you have them in your hands! DS was in premmie clothes when he was born, and I'd forgotten just how small they were until I sorted through ALL of his clothes this week.

I've always been a huge minki fan, especially their more unisex designs are lovely. spots, stripes and all sorts of loveliness! (I got a yellow one with tigger embroidery!)
DH thinks I'm very sad when I get excited about nappies, but it's just a better version of buying baby clothes - they are just too cute, and not that many people have them :)

Just had a lovely 2 days with my mum & sister visiting from Ireland - felt v emotional dropping them at the airport this evening. Sad

Lia I'll say early hours of Tuesday morning & 9lb 3oz!

stuffedmk · 25/03/2011 22:27

Hi ladies, just a quick update.....baby Thomas born weds 23rd 4.43am, 6lb 7oz.
will get back and give details in next few days sometime.

northerngoldilocks · 25/03/2011 22:50

Hi everyone, finally have got both arms free to type ( he's not keen on being put down ever) so finally have chance to share more details.

My waters broke about 4pm but wasn't having contractions, started having backache by about 8pm that was coming and going- finally occurred to me that my 'backache' could be contractions! One of my amazing midwives came over then and stayed with me as the contractions were pretty frequent by then.

Apart from some 'comedy moments' with the birthing pool ( top tip to test it full of water beforehand and don't discover the day before that it has a puncture!- or try to fix said puncture with duct tape!) everything went amazingly and my beautiful baby boy was born at 3:44 am weighing a massive 9lb and 6oz!! Amazingly I only had some 'grazing' so no stitches which given the size of him, I can hardly believe.

He's not keen on sleeping at night and I'm finding breastfeeding more difficult than I could ever imagine, but hopefully it will get better soon, I'm just so happy he's finally here.

Quick wave to everyone, fingers crossed for Lia that the baby makes an appearance soon

northerngoldilocks · 25/03/2011 22:51

Ooh, Lia hoping my prediction coming true a few days early!

Huge congrats Northern and Stuffed!

Northern a few of us have struggled with feeding, you'll find lots of hand holding and help on the postgrads thread. It can be tough to start with but it does get better.

Jolls hope you're feeling better soon to enjoy the Brie and bubbly!

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 26/03/2011 08:11

ohh stuffed congratumalations!! :o

northern lol at the comedy moments, I'm checking my pool today or tomorrow for punctures, but don't think I'll fill it with water because that would take a good 2 hours with our waterpressure and I have no means of emptying it yet other than my nappy bucket. Hmm
how DID you sort the puncture out?

any news from lia? at this rate you'll still be able to go to your carboot! ;)

alba how are things?

OrangeGloss · 26/03/2011 08:59

Lia I'm going for early Monday morning 9lb 2oz. Then you can go to the car boot, put your purchases away, have something to eat and then start :)

I don't even know where to start with dinky things, maybe I'll have a go after my 20 week scan. I have a friend who's offered to take me shopping to tell me what I need vs what looks nice :)

Congrats Stuffed and Northern Grin !!!

I've had what I hope think are more definite flutters, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I get some more, despite being wierded out it was an awesome feeling :)

dorcas111 · 26/03/2011 09:05

Good luck Lia, may today be the day x x

lia66 · 26/03/2011 09:08

PenguinsMummy · 26/03/2011 09:11

Congratulations Stuffed!

FX for something to happen soon Lia

Well done northern that's a big 'un!

VivClicquot · 26/03/2011 17:15

Awww congratulations stuffed - lovely news. Can't wait to hear more about Thomas' arrival. x

And northern, what a lovely birth story. Hang on in there with the feeding x

lia - put me down for 6am Tuesday morning ;-)

Went for our hospital tour this morning which has freaked me out a little bit - it all suddenly feels very real. Didn't get to see the birthing suite with the pool in it as it was in use, which was a shame (how very dare someone be using it when I wanted to see it - haha!), and we also heard some amazing mooing coming from the suite next door to the one we were being shown around! Also got a bit teary when we left labour ward, and walked past the gynae ward and room where I had our lost little girl, so all in all, an emotional morning.

appleblossoms · 26/03/2011 18:53

Oh stuffed congratulations on the arrival of little thomas! Looking forward to hearing more when your world stops spinning! Wink
And northern, what a lovely birth story...especially for a bigger baby!
Ooh viv, not long now then! And a sneaky un-mn hug, bet it was a bit of a difficult day too. [hugs]
How's it going lia? Any more signs things are starting to happen? I'll be looking for a birth announcement tomorrow Wink
Can't believe i'm 29 weeks today...although based on the utter exhaustion I feel more like 39!
Hope everyone's having a good and relaxing weekend so far. Early night tonight I think to counteract the clocks going back, yikes! I shall miss that hour...

nickstermum · 26/03/2011 20:27

Congrats stuffed xxx Welcome Thomas x

Viv are you birthing at St Marys? Can you ask to not be in that very same room? Big hugs xx

Hope you all enjoyed the F1 apples, looking forward to the race tomorrow :) go jensen :) [big jensen fan]

Go lia - any news? [no pressure]

DONT LET ME FORGET THE CLOCK CHANGE.... DO IT EVERY TIME!

clareanna · 26/03/2011 21:15

viv that must have been tough - big hug. First time I went back to the epu I found it very upsetting, so can't imagine how you must have felt x

Thanks for the clocks reminder ! Had remembered and forgotten again!

VivClicquot · 26/03/2011 21:49

I def won't be in the same room, as the labour and post-natal wards are both separate to the gynae ward where i had G. They are on the same floor though - in fact, only a matter of yards apart on the same corridor - so I'll have to pass one to get to the other, if you see what I mean.

I'm broadly okay with it - it actually feels 'right' to have this baby there too - but this morning was the first time I'd been back to that floor and seen the room itself, and I think it just caught me by surprise. xx

stuffedmk · 26/03/2011 23:51

Am typing one handed so forgive spelling etc lol

Woke up about 4ish Tues morning went to the loo, got back to bed and felt a pop....got up and discovered waters had definitely gone Grin had a few light niggles but only what i had been getting anyway with BHs so only rang hosp at about 8ish. they insisted i go in so got sorted and made it in by about 10 ish.
still not contracting with any force they did urine and blood tests planning to send me back home. They decided i was edging on pre-eclampsia so decided that rather than wait they would induce straight away. They put a tablet thingy in which kind of made things start but it died off again so ended up being stuck in bed with the drip being monitered from about midnight. Had my tens machine and managed with just that and breathing hard lol until about 4 when they examined and said i was 4-5 cm so started on the gas and air.....Thomas was born 4.43 so the examination must have triggered a bit of progress.

Only a bit of grazing so not too bad.
Was home by about 11am Grin
Top tip for hosp bag, and home after.....moist toilet wipes!!!!
Having trouble with feeding at the mo but will keep going.

nickstermum · 27/03/2011 07:10

Aw Viv its good that you feel you can go back there. First time would always be tough, especially after what you went through. Youwill be able to leave there with much happier and less painful memories very soon xxx

Its bizarre about hospitals. I have actually chosen to go back to Macclesfield to birth this one. I gave birth to DS there with a horribly managed labour, but because i felt the EPU managed my MC so nicely and so well Ive chosen to go back there. If this little one needs SCBU though i will be requesting a transfer to St Marys straight away. Macc were useless, and St Marys were unbelievably incredible.

Thanks for the reminder re wipes for hosp bag Stuffed... and lots of pads i would say!!

Apples cant believe youa re nearly 30 weeks! Running round afer your DS must take it out of you - hes a lot younger than mine, but memory says they need more mummy energy at that age!!

Morning all...didnt forget hte clock change, did it last night just to be sure. V tired this morn after being up half the night Confused
