Yep Owl, I think Brian has firmly taken up residence here Grin

Ivy I may be being over-generous to myself on the marbles front Smile Soooo exciting to be nearly full term!!! FX everything works out perfectly for the homebirth.

appleblossoms · 21/03/2011 16:37

Lovely new fred, thanks Ivy, and you've got me right on the list too... you clever clogs Wink

Hurray for the good scan nix, and for misbehaving baby...always the best kind Grin.

I had a lovely surprise today at the hospital...turns out they should've booked me a growth scan today, but they didn't...so they squeezed me in before my appointment Grin Grin. All completely average, including head....DS was on the larger size and I had a 2nd degree tear...so hoping a smaller headed baby might result in no tearing this time. and I get another scan at 35 weeks, so something to look forward to.

MW also prescribed 'rest'...DH is on strict orders to look after DS so I can have some time to myself once he's better (DH has sinusitis at the moment)....all in all, a lovely trip to the hosp.

Hope you're enjoying due day lia, and that things settle down at home so the little one can get a move on.

toomuchteaching · 21/03/2011 17:06

I still lurk in baby names, mostly looking at threads about names that were on our shortlist to try and work out whether they're becoming popular. I remember when J was born you saying people keep pinching your names, well I've just found you on three different threads for names I love so turns out it was always going to happen, we clearly both have great taste! I really hope you get to use one of them soon.

loopy I remember that feeling - like an elephant pregnancy, just felt like I'd been pg for ages because of the mmc. However now I'm cuddling a little one who is practicing his smiles Smile I would do it all again straight away (bloody hormones!)

nix great scan news- hope you are now relaxed and feeling really positive about this pg x

viv ouch! Was going to suggest tracking down Toomt or samb* ad they had rib pain. Hope mw can help work out what it is. Have you tried paracetamol to see if that helps a bit?

ivy full term next week- wow!

lia best of luck my lovely- can't be long now...?!

apple hope you feel better Soon and get lots of sofa time x

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 22/03/2011 11:49

It's terribly quiet in here

Echo!?

PenguinsMummy · 22/03/2011 12:34

ELCS booked for Wednesday 13th April so 3 weeks tomorrow - scary stuff! The theatres are closed for their annual service on 14/15 so no electives booked on these days or weekend. So it was either 38+6 or 39+4 which I thought was a bit too close for comfort given how fast my labours have been previously. Now just need to hang on for 3 weeks - having v painful branstons for the last 3 nights so hopefully she will stay in there for a bit longer!!!

YEY for the date penguins.... and for being fully cooked ivy Grin

VivClicquot · 22/03/2011 13:45

How ridiculously exciting! Can we start putting out the new thread bunting? Can we? Can we?! :)

PenguinsMummy · 22/03/2011 15:38

Still can't get my head round the fact that in 3 weeks I will calmly walk into the delivery suite, skip down to theatre and have my baby that day Grin! As opposed to the mental screaming middle of the night speed labours I've had before! V surreal!

owlbooty · 22/03/2011 15:55

Oooh, Penguin tis v.v.exciting knowing exactly when your little one is going to turn up. And also rather odd.

nickstermum · 22/03/2011 19:11

Bonkers knowing huh?

appleblossoms · 22/03/2011 20:00

wow penguin, that's quite scary and exciting. I've always thought it must be kinda crazy knowing in advance when your little one's birthday will be....will you get more or less sleep in the run up knowing when it will be?!

So... I have a TMI question for you ladies, which I figure if I can't ask you I can't ask anyone... I think I have piles Blush. Can I get some over the counter treatment or do I need to admit it to the mw or doc? Tis a fleshy lump after a rather difficult toiletting session Blush Blush Any advice???

nickstermum · 22/03/2011 20:13

ah bless Dont be embarrassed apples! I thought i had them a few weeks back.
Do you have hard things poking out your bottom? Sorry if thats an intrusive q!!

Ah yes just spotted it (on your post!) - apparently you can get over hte counter creams. V common in pg :)

I would also say dont strain....! makes it worse. lots of fibrous food, apple juice, nuts, all the things that make you go easily....

Sounds a bit daft but during pg if i struggle i tend to rock from side to side rather than straining, also seems to take the pressure off episiotomy scar!

I know i sound a bit barking... but it works for me :) Good luck x

appleblossoms · 22/03/2011 20:43

thanks nix going to do an online tesco shop now...will add some apple juice to my basket, and try and find some medicine.

You MN lot are the bestest Grin [hormonal pregnant woman emoticon]

OrangeGloss · 23/03/2011 06:28

Ivy how exciting, full term :) A homebirth sounds great, I'd be too chicken

Apple great you had a unplanned scan, another chance to take a peek. Hurrah for average size head!

Loopy it hadn't occurred to me that I would overlap being pg this year too, which is a strange thought. Not much longer now?

Penguin I hope the branstons aren't too bad, not much longer to wait. Tis my exam day, too!

apples prune juice is good, my dr recommended Lactulose which I've been taking a v.small dose of regularly which seems to keep me, regular. You can get on prescription, sorry if you knew that already. My movements weren't great pre-pg so I've been a bit over-cautious on that front

Can I ask a question? When did you ladies start to feel movement? Over the weekend I thought I felt an odd gentle flutter, but nothing really the last 2 days. It's my first, what's 'normal'? I'm 16+3

OrangeGloss · 23/03/2011 06:51

I forgot my gut wasn't there any more! I may have had more then and dismissed it. Good to know it might not be regular too

Speaking of regular, I just had a paranoid Lactulose google despite being prescribed it, all says ok. I've taken for while now though, it's the only thing that helps me go. I'm thinking half a teaspoon a night wouldn't be classed as excessive...[paranoid emoticon]

nickstermum · 23/03/2011 06:52

aaah loopy! Not long to go now Grin - have you woken in my house?

Agree O, up until a week ago i had to lie and wait very still for sporadic movement. Placenta muffled though. Usually about 17-18 weeks for the first i think. Now - different matter :)

Dont worry about sporadic.... day of my scan little beast was belting me all day and night... then yest hardly anything! til last night Grin

I find eating ice cold ice cream/drinking ice cold fanta or a bowl of cereal with ice cold milk tends to wake bambino up for a bit... if evere you need re-assurance Grin - sister told me i was being cruel the other day Grin to which i replied "if hes up all day he might sleep better at night, lets get her in a routine before it arrives" Grin Grin

O i was told for my DS (who suffers with holding poo in, compacting it and it then hurting him) to use apple juice rather than lactulose as it does the same thing. It absolutely works i can tell you Grin Not had a problem with him since. Got lactulose but thankfully havent used it on him - not a chance he would take it - little monkey spits calpol all up the wall Grin

randomimposter · 23/03/2011 08:15
OrangeGloss · 23/03/2011 08:23

Thanks Nix Grin both ice cream and apple juice will be on the menu tonight

Actually when the MW was checking for HB I had a get up and jiggle to get things moving! Maybe just relaxed unlike me

owlbooty · 23/03/2011 10:09

Orange I first felt them at 15+4 after the MW had poked around trying to find a heartbeat at my appt. And they would have been ever so easy to miss as just the tiniest fluttering popping feeling that felt like indigestion but, as someone charming put it, didn't end in farting Grin

Pregnancy is just so glamorous, isn't it? I found eating a more vegetarian-ish diet helped a lot, too much meat is far too hard to digest.

Hello Jolls lovely :)

lia66 · 23/03/2011 11:28

Hi ladies,

No don't get excited, am not here with baby or labour news, I am officially holding out forthe longest pg in history Grin

apples piles are no fun, I've got them in the last week or so having never had them before, wtf's that all about. Have to say I didn't find the over the counter remedy very good so have been to doc and got industrial strength cream, something proct, (sorry it's in bathroom, I am in dining room). Can't recommend highly enough.

I had first flutter with this one at 15 wks following amnio, than a bit on and off for couple weeks, then non stop bloody full on streetdancing I think ever since. :)

Pears are good for the digestive system too, and yummy at the moment.

jolls hi, do not, I repeat, do not eat all ofthet brie. Hasthe woman no compassion?

So who is going to beat me to it then? Bearing in mind the only times I have gone into labour by myself were

dd1 16 yrs ago, 18 days over
dc5 4 yrs ago, born at 37 wks..... Well we've missed the 37 wk window so who's got money on the 18 days over? Hmm

have developed spd on laft side during last couple weeks too so walking quite painful and I have to take a second to get comfy when I stand from sitting, feel about 143 yrs old. :)

Haven't resorted to sex yet, mw has booked sweep for next Tues at week over but dunno if I'll take her up on it, if the bodies not ready, it's not ready.

Ok, there was my catch up post, hi to everyone, on a good note, dh and dd have been told they need to call ceacefire till after the event and they actually seem to e doing ok, so fingers crossed.

Going to fam this afternoon with little dd, I will sit gossiping, she will play with little friend, sorted.

Have good day all. xx
