To me loopy a night of passion is a nice relaxing bubble bath, a woolly dressing gown, and an early night.... have i got that wrong!?!

dorcas111 · 28/01/2011 08:53

Hi, just a quick one from me as there have been so many posts, I think I need a cup of tea before attempting to namecheck everyone. Did not sleep well last night, I am so sick of having to get up for a wee all the time and having to turn over every half hour because of achy hips. Moan, moan, moan! Okay, little rant over. I can't believe I am 40 weeks today! The cramping eased off yesterday but I've had a bit this morning- I am ever hopeful of it turning into something more interesting but little Dorcas seems comfy where they are. Well, maybe not comfy, the way they keep pummeling me I think they may be a we bit squished in there, but not in any hurry to get out!
Did manage some of that passion thingy last night, seeing as the curries have not been working, now, does anyone know how soon I can expect that to start having an effect. Because it is guaranteed to get things going, yes???

owlbooty · 28/01/2011 10:10

You stay right there Grin

The person doing the scan will help wok out possible dates but at this early stage I wouldn't set too much store by them - it seems to be hard to do accurately when it's early on. However, just make sure you tell them what the scenario is - e.g. when I went for the 1st scan I told them I knew I'd ovulated later than day 14. So when the measurements came back right for -2 days from LMP then that was spot on.

Passion? Yeah, really should make some sort of effort in that direction this weekend once Mr Boots has forgotten about the waving baby on the scan pics yesterday Grin

Poor Dorcas , sounds exhausting. Fingers crossed for some action very soon!

clareanna · 28/01/2011 10:29

I would like to clarify that "night" of passion was maybe pushing it, 5 mins would be a more appropriate timeframe!!!
moo there are ways and means of doing the deed and not getting your legs that far apart - i shall draw you a diagram if you so wish Grin

dorcas hurrah for hitting 40 weeks!!! according to the last thread I'm sure there was advice that the prostaglandins in sperm are better absorbed through the gut.... clearly advice and research done by a man!!! So exciting for you - could happen at any time! Try to go for a good walk and use the stairs a lot. Actually, I should now be avoiding it shouldn't I, as I absolutely DON'T want to go into labour before my C-Section date! Have you got a mw appt and sweep booked in?

Dachs an early test result must be a good sign - hope you're managing to stay positive today. I think the meanest thing is that early pg symptoms feel a lot like AF starting - obviously designed to baffle our brians.

urban sorry for missing you off the stats yesterday!

dorcas111 · 28/01/2011 12:07

Have just peed myself laughing at Jollster's 'fat people having sex' comment- quite literally, wish I had made more effort with the pelvic floor exercises... Not quite sure how we managed it to be honest, it is quite comical rather than sexy when you have a huge bump to negotiate and are generally immobile...
clareanna, that research must definitely have been done by a bloke! I have found my orthotics though so will try walking/stairs. I've got an appointment next week, but when I saw the midwife on wednesday she didn't mention anything about sweeps. Should I have one booked in? She seemed very relaxed about it.
My DP has taken the day off work today so we can do nice things and not obssess too much about it being my due date. Which does beg the question why I am on Mumsnet... hmmm, perhaps I should go and actually spend some time with him!

clareanna · 28/01/2011 12:38

SameOldJollster · 28/01/2011 13:22

Hey. Have made probably not much fatter than me, and I'm not pregnant people laugh.

My work here is done.

PS Loopy will you be my friend..? That's my idea of passion too Grin.

dorcas111 · 28/01/2011 13:37

Loopy I read your post and thought by 'girly' film you meant something else entirely. I was thinking, crikey, what an open minded approach you have, then I got to the bit about the hot chocolate and realised I may have the wrong end of the stick...

UrbanLolly · 28/01/2011 14:19

clareanna don't worry bout stats as I hadn't even posted them anywhere.
dachs MEGA HAPPY to see you posting here, I'm sure you are terrified, it's so hard not to stress, just be kind to yourself, lots of favourite treats, no housework!! & brazil nuts (m&s do nice chocolate covered ones) good for implantation I believe, I ate bags of them!!

dorcas congrats on reaching 40 weeks, hoping you get some action soon, of the other kind that is!!!!

Nights of passion that's a very distant memory....unless 4 yearolds who sneak into bed for snuggles and hand holding count... Na didn't think so......back to those erotic dreams then.....

PenguinsMummy · 28/01/2011 14:31

LOL at Jolls and Dorcas Grin

It must be Friday afternoon..........

Night of passion - hmmmmm - DVD, large mug of tea with large bar of chocolate followed by a full nights uninterrupted sleep - doesn't happen often in our house........ Grin

OrangeGloss · 28/01/2011 14:59

Eek @ being added to waiting list

We have a night of passion booked tonight but without the passion, hotel, spa, dinner.....poor dh probably won't get near for another few weeks I'm too scared Blush

nickstermum · 28/01/2011 15:32

Grin who you callin' fat jollster?? did make me larf though!

No passion in our hoose these days, taken to wearing big white pants which get scrutinised with every loo visit sad i know ! Arent they just the ugliest thing ever!

dorcas 40 weeks WHOOP.... you are in the home run......! at the GUT comment...if that was the case you may as well just drink the stuff from a glass... ... ...

OrangeGloss · 28/01/2011 16:08

Nix I'm in the car and that made me gip !!!

stuffedmk · 28/01/2011 16:16

Viv soooo Envy It's cold here today and I've grown out of my thick coat

Ba8y I am rubish at keeping up with threads enough to reliably name check....am trying lol
Orgasmic birth? Somehow I doubt it Hmm and something about that just seems so wrong anyway.

Got the cot up and pictures hung so the nursery is basically done now Grin Had to put a new door on which need a coat of paint and I am making a mobile but that's it.
Strangley though now I'm all sorted it all feels somehow less real, like I have imagined the whole thing. I think it's because it's been just me, DH and DS for so long (DS nearly 10) that I can't picture what having a new baby in the picture will be like Confused

stuffedmk · 28/01/2011 16:18

Good god my spelling has gone right out of the window Blush....Note to self....proof read!!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 28/01/2011 16:59

Jolls P M S L.

Stuffed do you find yourself sitting in the babes room just pondering your thoughts? I did it with DD and keep doing it again now the 2 cots are up and room has been decorated a la Dr Suess.....I can't picture it either but ministuffed will slot right in ;)

Nick Over the bump not so TIGHTIE WHITIES from M'Care. F*cking minging.

Shit nights sleep followed by some mild twinges this morning Hmm but all in all have had a lovely day and a lovely afternoon nap UNTIL CM FORGOT to collect DD from school Angry

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 28/01/2011 17:57

hi guys, thanks for the support!
got swabbed for infection and to check if waters are leaking, which they are not. :)
also had bloods and a ctg done, which showed that baby is happy and active (and don't I know it!)no contractions, cervix is a little open, but they aren't too worried right now.
got another checkup on tuesday, and should have swab results by then, and will have another blood test... I feel like a pincushion, but at least one that has a healthy baby :)

Hi all.

Ivy - glad you're being looked after and that everything is looking ok

Loopy - wouldn't worry re the kids and the cat - way better than trying to explain why they'd never see it again. Glad it sounds like its not too serious though.

Jolls - laughing at your comments!

Magic - Shock at your childminder - surely the clue is in the job title! Hope everything is ok and the 'mild twinges' have stopped.

I've had a bit of a funny feeling today - think its just that the baby is using the front wall of my abdomen to push off and just the fact its getting bigger is meaning that its painful, but I can't say I'm fully enjoying this feeling. Also had lower twinges this morning - but guessing its just ligament pains. Could just be being neurotic too.....

toomuchteaching · 28/01/2011 19:36

Wow... I leave and suddenly it's all about fat people having sex. I can report that I had sex as a fat person (and my how we laughed) but it did nothing!

Then after my sweep, when the MW suggested it, I reported all that had happened to DH including how she had been able to touch the head, and then said she had said SWI might help... and he was like "what, she can touch the head, there's no way we're doing that!"

So no more for me!

Dorcas fingers crossed things happen soon, although since I had to wait til 40+12 I will be immensely jealous if you head off today!

Jemima is feeding constantly blimp girl and has put on 130g (she lost 70g initially) and is a bit rubbish through the night (she won't go in her basket) but she is utterly gorgeous.

Glad all seems well Ivy and that you are being looked after.

Right... bambina calls.

hairyfairylights · 28/01/2011 23:40

Hi ... Congrats dachs!!

I'm crapping myself. Am five weeks today and think symptoms are wanin. And I feel really emotional . It's
so scarey after having MCs :(

OrangeGloss · 29/01/2011 06:00

Hairy I haven't seen you since I heard your good news on other thread (I'm formerly OrangeToeNails but changed nail colour so seemed a bit daft) I'm sending sticky thoughts for you. It is such a scary time, there's a few of us in early stages so hopefully we can hold each others hand

Loopy I hope the tablets are working for your cat, you're not a vet, how would you know what was wrong?!

toomuch my dh has already said no dtd at that stage, at the mo I just want to get to that stage! Hopefully not much longer for you

Ivy glad you had some reassurance from tests

Nix I forgot to say thanks for boob advice re soreness/largeness :) I have put dh on Boob Watch (Biscuit Biscuit) but he just says yep, very nice!

I forgot to take my Lactulose last night Blush :( so have woke up early and bloated. Dinner was lovely and I have a facial and manicure planned for today, wonderful :)
