Loopy - thanks for the story - sounds like you have had a horrible time, and I'm so glad you have got through it all. I didn't realise it was a 50/50 situation though . I know what you mean about nearly falling off the couch when they told you there was a heartbeat.

Nix - I'm probably not the world's expert on birthplans, what with DD deciding to arrive before I got round to making one. The one thing I do know is that if I had got round to making one, it would have been very very different to what actually happened, which would have been nobody's fault. But in retrospect, I think I'm happier now having just taken things as they came, rather than stressing that things weren't going according to plan. If I ever get as far as making a birth plan this time, it will be very loose and vague, and based on general principles only and the little bits I think I may end up with control over.

loving the idea of a laminated birth plan.... did it help? the laminate i mean?! Grin and did it work?

CaribouMoo · 04/03/2011 20:18

Northern lucky old you, I am 6 weeks and counting! Hopefully this will help make it feel real for you, enjoy the peace while you can.

Viv, Tiger and Loopy, when are you going on mat leave? I only got 1 week before DD arrived so have plumped for an entire month before due date this time.

Emoo hello and welcome. Hope you're feeling reassured after Loopy's story. Also hope it doesn't get confusing with 2 Moos here! My previous name was Moofold, can't believe someone else has a Moo name too!

Nix that's lovely you're getting some movement now. It feels so reassuring doesn't it.

Hiya Clare!! Wise advice Lia. I love the one about everything being a stage. Its so true and keeps you going when you're stressed out about something your little one is doing!

owlbooty · 04/03/2011 21:16

Loops you laminated your birth plan? That is completely awesome. I am thinking of icing mine on to a cake. That way I can be sure the medical bods will read it. They do like their cake, do midwives. Grin

Cariboomooboo 6 weeks???? Blinking heck. That's come round quick. So nice to see some more people at the top of the list and ready for action.

Owlet has been shifting around quite a lot today, having done nowt yesterday thus prompting me to go to the MW this morning for a sneakly doppler. He then proceeded to skip about all over my innards dodging the doppler stick thing and was finally cornered and listened to - and has spent the rest of the day booting me as payback. Tis lovely even if the boots are more like small wibbles and flutters. Am looking forward to proper booting in due course.

moo - you finish before me! I finish on Easter Thursday, which I think is 10 days before my due date. The way I see it is I don't have a particularly strenuous job - all I do is sit at a desk, so it won't be that much different to me sitting on the sofa! Besides, I'm fully expecting to go overdue - although kinda hope that by working this late, I'll tempt fate that he/she will come early.... Wink

Muser · 04/03/2011 23:18

Birth Plans: mine never made it out of the bag as there wasn't time. However DH was well briefed and argued for me for the only thing that was on my "no, never, not under any circumstances". Which was no pethidine.

So I'd say make sure your birth partner knows what your hopes and non-negotiables are so they can advocate for you.

crochetcircle · 05/03/2011 09:52

Its been a few weeks since i posted but i'm still here, just not much to report! Cautiously creeping up the list as you ladies go over the top!

Congrats magic I'm in awe of you!

northern thanks for responding to my questions about exercise and BH a few weeks ago. I decided to my gym membership lapse for 3 months as I wasn't really feeling it. But I've found a pregnancy pilates and pregnancy yoga class near work, so am going to try those out with the money I saved. Aquanatal and swimming is my favourite so far though.

Special hello to apples my due date buddy - hope its going well for you. I feel like i have been pregnant for over a year already. And I still can't say I'm 6 months pregnant! BAH! This second trimester has gone on forever! People keep asking when she's coming, as if it could be any day now, and I'm like - its still a lifetime away!!! Ask me again when its summer!

emoo I had a teeny SCH during this pregnancy at 8 weeks which caused a really little bleed/spotting over 2-3 days. It was so small they didn't even write it on the scan notes just told me to expect more bleeding, so might not be a good comparison to yours. But I can totally sympathise though - even after I knew what it was, the fear of what it might be every time I went to the loo was horrible.

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 05/03/2011 10:55

I am currently snuggled up on the sofa with my cuddly toddler whose new party trick is saying Mummy, Daddy and Bebby in the cutest little voice while pointing.
typing onehanded :)

all is well here, apart from my relationship with my boss. grr.

welcome to the new graduates :)

will be painting the kids room today, we've been living here for 3 months now and upstairs still looks like a building site Blush

OMG It is so nice to be able to breathe again and not have heartburn!!!!!!!!!

Thank you to everyone for all your well wishes & congrats & mostly your support since I joined just over a year ago! You really have got me through the toughest times and brought a smile to my face every single time I have logged on! You are some of the bravest ladies I have ever known.

Thought I should give you a run down of my little birth tale!

As you know I was having mini runs of contractions last week which seemed to step up a gear early Thursday morning.......was not in labour but they decided to keep me in & had CTG after CTG to monitor twins & a scan on Friday as their movements were reduced but all was well. They let me home late Saturday. Twinges were back during the night but nothing painful or regular & I had another show, but thought nothing really Hmm & sat up playing Tetris & keeping record of twinges on my contractions Ap! Grin Went back to bed at 4am only to wake at 6am after I felt like I had been kicked/punched really hard in the fanjo by one of the twins..........followed by a trickle and little gush! Shock Grin There was no mistaking it was my waters. We got to hosp by 7 & contractions were every 15mins, uncomfortable but ok. Lovely Midwife (Bereavement) had been on that night so settled me straight in (so nice that she was there as it relaxed me instantly) & all systems were go for EMCS as I had SROM'd & consultant not there/unsocial hours. By 9ish contractions were 5 mins apart. Things got more painful & I cracked on with the G&A. I was next in line for theatre and the registrar that did my ERPC (The one who told me to have 3 GOOD periods before trying again for all of you who remember the Tightie Whities!!) popped in with the consent form, it was just after 10am & I remember saying to DH I wanted things to hurry up as it had been 4 hours & that DD1 came in 6 hours. I signed it & she left. Within minutes I wanted to push which really caught me off guard. She came back & examined me & I was fully dilated! What the FUCK?????????!!!!!!!! How did that happen? I couldn't believe I had got to 10! After that I can honestly say my body completely took over me......T1 was born at 10.44, followed 5 minutes later by T2. Two beautiful identical girls & a WHOLE lot more water which tidal waved the delivery room lol Grin! It was such a positive experience, I can't explain. I was so lucky & completely avoided any stitches or anything. I am so glad they are finally here and I think DD2 was smiling down on us last Sunday x

I haven't put their names on the list as most of you know me through Book of Faces but if you want to know just pm me. Will put a photo on too shortly.

On a weirdo little note, we told DD1 that the twins would come when the St Davids were out in bloom and bought her 2 pots for a window box for outside her bedroom window. The weekend the twins were born there were 8 daffodils in bloom Wink

stuffedmk · 05/03/2011 23:14

Oh bless, they are absolutely beautiful magic

Gonnabe · 05/03/2011 23:30

Major tears magic - what a lovely lovely birth story. Well done - you deserve it! X

littlemiss72 · 06/03/2011 07:15

Good morning all, Magic what a beautiful story and such wonderful little babies! Huge congrats to you hunni x x x

OrangeGloss · 06/03/2011 07:44

Magic that is such a lovely story, made me smile :)

Nix they did a sneaky switch to 4D at my scan on Fri for a few seconds. I think it was too early to see much detail, but was interesting and I could see a nose and mouth, I'm still thinking about it for later if I make it. How's your birth plan coming along?

Owl I'm glad you heard HB, and Envy of your movement feeling. You said 'he', do you know or is it just better than saying 'it' like I am?

I had a great scan on Friday, it had grown and developed so much between 11 and 14 weeks. We heard the HB too which made me a bit tearful :) I'm now making myself relax and try and be a bit happy/excited, whilst still refusing to tell people despite showing Confused

appleblossoms · 06/03/2011 09:35

oh magic!! What a lovely story, and such beautiful spiderbabies! Grin Grin

orange glad you're trying to make yourself relax. It is very hard...took me a long time and my midwife telling me directly to start enjoying it, and this preg has really been very uncomplicated. Hope you manage to enjoy it a bit now, you've had a very stressful start! Smile

Hope the decorating's going well ivy. We DH did our room this last week, after a year of living here we no longer have white walls with white cupboards and doors! Finally feel like it's a nice cosy bedroom. Grin

I know what you mean crochet, time is slowly slowly ticking by. Am SO looking forward to maternity leave now, and just being able to start the countdown. I love the excitement of the last few weeks!

Have any of you second time+ mums done/thinking of doing nct for your second? I didn't do it with ds, but would like to find some people having a second baby near us....but don't want to be in a group where everyone's older child is school-age as ds is only 2. just wondering whether it's worth it for the possible friendships or not....

i'm doing well, hoping i avoid DS's cold. he's been very clingy, and up the last few nights...last two he had to sleep in with me.. something he hasn't done for about a year! After no real sleep last night, DH and I are shattered...DS is dosed up on calpol and playing happily, typical! Although he is being more cuddly than normal.

Redheadgal · 06/03/2011 09:55

Such beautiful babies! Congratulations Magic!! xx

owlbooty · 06/03/2011 10:48

Spiderbabies are absolutely GORGEOUS, magic , I must confess I had a little snivel at the loveliness of their arrival too :) Massive congratulations :)

Orange when I had the 12-week private scan due to the standing on head incident at the NHS scan, the doc said she was 95% sure it was a boy. Due to the bad-ass behaviour I'm inclined to think she might be right :) 20 week scan is now only 8 days away so I may find out soon if she was right.

Tis the loveliest thing, isn't it though, hearing the heartbeat? The first time I heard it at 9 weeks I cried like a right muppet. I haven't told many people either, I'm only just beginning to do that now and only my boss knows at work. I'm waiting til I get past the next scan and anyone who thinks I am looking suspiciously podgy can bugger off. Grin You will start to relax; I promise - it all gets better from here on.

AlbaDeTamble · 06/03/2011 15:00

apples, I didn't do nct again this time but did do antenatal and now postnatal yoga, so have a very similar group again. Some first time and some second timers. Well worth it if you have a group running near you. Ours is lovely and sociable. Antenatal was a bit serous and all about birth prep (the breathing worked too!), postnatal a bit more of a social club and we are all now getting to know each other better as we're all arriving early to feed/staying afterwards for tea and biscuits!
