Hey Ba8y congratulations!! As you say, makes no difference in the end how he got here, just great to hear that he is safe and well. Well done!

Muser good to hear from you again, hope you have more success with the feeding. I was just saying to Clare on FB earlier that I gave up on BF with DD 4 days in. She had lost over a pound, I was in agony both with boobs and section, DD was trying to feed constantly and I was so sleep deprived that I started hallucinating and fell asleep on her. Eventually DH went out and bought bottles and formula. I was distraught and felt like a total failure but in the end I was glad I got to enjoy my first days with her more. It isn't easy, I admire anyone that gives it their best shot. I might just PM you because not knowing her name will bother me for days!!

Good luck to you Lotta, hope to hear some good news soon! Lia glad there's been no more action and things are calming down. Apples I've felt a wee bit faint at times but never as bad as you described. Maybe you should check with MW?

stuffedmk · 18/02/2011 22:30

Ba8y congrats glad you and bubs are doing well.
Am getting concerned that I am creeping up the list lol.

I had my driving test yesterday and failed :( Have managed to get a cancellation to re-take it on 7th of March...I'll be 36 weeks exactly, cutting it a bit fine lol

louisesh · 18/02/2011 22:43

Congrats Ba8y XXX

clareanna · 18/02/2011 23:28

Congratulations ba8y fab news!! hope you are doing ok - keep taking the painkillers!

Sorry you're having a tough time feeding muser the jaundice makes them tired as well so it must have been a tough few days

I currently have mastitis - which is foul and had a huge temperature last night, fed through it and got most of the blockage out [sorry if tmi] but still shivery today so on full strength antibiotics now so hopefully it will clear up.
Hope everyone else is well?!

OrangeGloss · 19/02/2011 08:39

Morning everyone :) sorry I've been so absent, I freaked out a bit thinking about the long stretch to my 16 week appointment, since I was put back 11 days too. It's been a week since my scan, so the glow has worn off and the paranoia is back, just keep trying to remind myself of the odds being in my favour

Excellent news on the births! Congratulations to Ba8y1 and Muser 15th Feb is a GREAT day to have a birthday - being my birthday and all Grin

It's my first attempt ever at a list, so sorry if I've got anything wrong, I've updated with the new arrivals too - and in a moment of bravery have put myself on

crochetcircle · 19/02/2011 09:38

northern dead impressed with spin classes at 36 weeks. I went on the exercise bike at the gym this week (23 weeks) and it brought on braxton hicks so I had to stop. Each time the BH ended I started cycling again and it came back. Has that ever happened to you?

My BH seem to be triggered by the cycling, weeing, and waking up in the morning. is that weird?

I panicked and signed up for NCT this week. It feels weird paying £200 to meet other couples, but in the end I thunk it will be worth it. When I go back to work and OH takes over he will need a network more than me, as most of his friends haven't started sprogging.

Whilst I was researching antenatal classes I found out about Active Birthing. This sounds like my 'style' iykwim. I read the philosophy and it made sense to me. Anyone ever done one of those courses? I live really near where the original founder's centre is, so could get it from the horses mouth.

Lots of questions this morning! I've been reason all your posts about birthing and pain relief and I guess it's triggered them off!

northerngoldilocks · 19/02/2011 09:50

Hi crochet - haven't really had any issues re exercise setting off BH too much - but think that for me I've always exercised this much (well more really) so haven't started anything I wasn't used to doing which I think is key, and I've also taken the intensity down. I got a really good book - might have mentioned it before by Cherry Baker I think re exercising when pregnant, basically advises that you should always be able to hold a conversation and not be so out of breath that you can't speak. I've adapted my spin classes so I follow this, whereas before I was pregnant I'd push myself much harder.

I also did NCT - its £300 where I am and I thought it was a lot - but basically you're paying for new friends and from that perspective it was worth every penny - the group is really nice and I enjoyed the claases.

Clare - sorry to hear you have mastitis - I went to a really good bf workshop this week and the lady taking it said its important to have anti inflamatories as well as antibiotics - not sure if you got this advice too. (She also suggested getting a 'willing partner' to suck the final bits of milk from the blockage........)

Massive congratulations to Ba8y1

Lotta123 · 19/02/2011 10:03

crochet nct is great for making new friends. I find the women in my group so supportive!

Some women I work with rave about active birth so definitely worth giving it a go.

Clareanna hope you're okay. Big hug.

And last, but not least, big congratulations to Baby. Fantastic news.

OP posts:
clareanna · 19/02/2011 13:30

crochet worth checking your nct syllabus I'm pretty sure mine covered acting birthing extensively ( we got to practice all the positions - hilarious) but I know all the courses are slightly different depending on what each group want to cover

As for a willing partner to suck the blocked bit out - urrrgh that is possibly the worst thing I have ever heard!! It can come out all stringy and cheesy- I think dh would faint!!!!

lotta how are you getting on? How is dh?

nickstermum · 19/02/2011 14:10

northerngoldilocks · 19/02/2011 17:21

I wasn't suggesting it- just passing on the advice.. Grin

stuffedmk · 19/02/2011 19:42

Clareanna I had mastitis with DS and all I can say is, I feel for you Sad not nice at all. Well done for feeding through it!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 19/02/2011 20:22

Congratulations Ba8y!
Hope your boobies are feeling better Clare omfg with asking dh to suck out the blocked bit Confused
Loopy I hope you had a lazy day what did you watch?
Northern get you at your spin class! I am Envy as I can just about walk to the loo!
Crochet I have friends who joined NCT and have made great pals. It is good to have some mummy friends with babes the same age.
Try not to panic orange stay positive.
Lia where are you? How you doing?
Can't believe I am 3rd on the list........

OrangeGloss · 19/02/2011 20:40

Sorry northern just my sense of humour Blush

Everything's a mystery tbh :)

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 19/02/2011 21:33

urgh at sucking out mastitis milk. mastitis sucks, luckily I caught it early with DS and only had flu symptoms for a week and some pain, but it was managable.

muser (still vividly remember your BFP!) and ba8y - huge congrats!

wowzers, magic16 you ARE close to the top! I still remember your BFP and first scan pic! eeeeeeeeeeek, so exciting!

northern I can't believe you still do spin classes at 36 weeks. I used to swim a mile twice a week up to when we conceived bump, but I got into the pool for the first time since then and barely managed 10 lengths. felt like I wanted to die by the time I got out. Nevermind spin classes.

nickster I think you can have pethidine at a homebirth, too, if you get it prescribed from your GP beforehand.

I'm another prospective homebirther :) had one booked with DS, but PROM kinda got in the way, and we were then induced at 37 weeks. Still managed hypnobirthing up to the point where my placenta abrupted, though. and by that point he was pretty much born already (in 3 out breaths and a couple of little pushes. sometimes hypermobility syndrome rocks. lol)

stuffed sorry about your driving test, I failed mine first time, too. it sucks, doesn't it?

I'm starting to think about my birth plan, slowly. basically, what I want is to be left alone, don't talk to me unless you have to, don't touch me unless you have to. call my husband when it looks like I might actually be having a baby, but otherwise keep him out or entertained, because I can't be doing with "talk to me!" and "I'm bored/hungry/tired" again.

PenguinsMummy · 20/02/2011 10:04

Wow! A girl goes away for a week & two babies arrive! Congratulations Muser & Ba8y1.

We had a fantastic 4D scan on Monday - baby was yawning & opening her eyes. It was amazing. So excited now!

PrettyVacant1 · 20/02/2011 12:14

Heeellllloooooooooooooooo. Grin

I think I'm ready to graduate, still doesn't feel real, this self preservation malarkay is quite deep.

Lovely welcome to the thread Grin, eating a bacon mufin reading about sucking out stringy milk.
EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy
Niiiiice.

Congrats to Ba8y1, lovely news.

Stuffed sorry about your driving test, I was one of the peeps born to be driven, had a bad car accident a few years back and closing my eyes going around bends with oncoming traffic is not condusive to being behind a wheel.
Good luck with the next one.

Well, I took my last 'roid this morning.
I had a scan on Fri and we saw Cleatus wiggling about and waving, not as active as I thought but sonographer said all was fine and we also briefly heard the heartbeat. Grin
I can't get over the difference in 6 weeks, I have 4 scan pics (6,8,10,12)
We're having another sneaky scan in two weeks just to put our mind at rest as I've finished the drucks.
It's with an EPU nurse we've known for the past year so fx she'll let us look for longer and DP wants to record the HB on his phone bless

Big waves to everyone, t'internet still not sorted, so short and sweet posts via phone from me.
(for now!)
I'll have a go at the list.....
