Louise my thoughts are with you & I think the separate room that the charity money is helping with is a really great thing & one I'm sure will be much appreciated. FX that your BFP happens v soon. X

clareanna · 12/02/2011 08:06

Argh I'm in private room now- no breakfast or drugs have appeared! I think I'd prefer to be with the screamers on the ward! Something I wasn't expecting is they now give you clexane injections on your tummy to prevent dvt, and you get a 7 day course of injections home with you- urrgh!
Have had a shower and removed dressing and am getting up and about slowly Toby doing well but still coughing up lots of mucus. Feeding every 3 hours ish at the moment but for an hour each time as there's nothing there- hurry up milk!

moo hope you had a more comfortable night- bring on the big pillow..

Lovely news on scans

nicks we found out to help get ds one used to it, but agree re secret keeping! We didnt tell anyone our name choice to keep it a surprise but I mentioned it once to ds when we were reading a Thomas book of same name and he pretty much blabbed it to everyone!

clareanna · 12/02/2011 08:09

Louise words fail me to express how sad and sorry am for what you've been through- especially at the moment. But I want to say you're a wonderful brave woman and the bereavement room sounds amazing. Looking forward to hearing news from you soon on GBOS - take care xxx

nickstermum · 12/02/2011 09:08

Clare (been dying to call you clarebear for ages, tis my middle name:) ) sadly my DS is a thomas nut... We have in the family Oliver, Edward & James all as you probably know are thomas trains.....! so we are jokingly looking at all the train names to keep with the programme.... toby is lovely btw :)

Spencer??
Victor??
Ferdinand?? Grin

sadly not many girls choices other than henrietta or daisy

Might have to go onto Peppa Pig or scooby doo for inspiration Hmm

I think DH is going to win on the sex thing. The MW told me DH can only find out with my permission....

nickstermum · 12/02/2011 09:09

WW£? What was that?! WW3...!

Unbuffy · 12/02/2011 10:00

Just a quicky to reassure clare about the dvt injections - had a course to take home too, really mot complicated and doesn't hurt provided you do it reeeeeeally quickly and don't hang about going oooooh i'm about to stick poison pins into myself... Does sort of ache a bit afterwards, a bit bruisy for 1/2 an hour or so but otherwise blah and not a patch on the rest of the cs pain. 2 bits of advice i got from anaestatist in hospital for quick recovery to pass on - 1) rest as much as possible, 2)if anyone offers you painkillers, even if you don't think you need them too badly that exact second, say YES. And if they have that liquid morphiney stuff, DO IT, it's FAB and actually tastes quite nice!

Love to all xx

Unbuffy · 12/02/2011 10:02

mot? NOT

Apols for typos and poor SPAG, v tired this morning!

Muser · 12/02/2011 10:50

Big congrats to MamaPower for seeing the heartbeat. Just hold on to 12 weeks and you can breathe out a bit.

Ba8y1 · 12/02/2011 12:25

Hi ladies, have to be quick as DH fighting me for the computer and apparently this is not as important as work! Shock!

clareanna huge congrats on the arrival of your gorgeous boy, glad all went well.

louise what a wonderful way to remember Georgie. I hope you are doing ok - think of you often.
nickster glad things are better and I hope everyone else is doing well?!
Sorry if I've missed any other big news.

No news this end yet - now 41+1 and v v frustrated - still not even a twinge to get excited about! Had another CTG and assessment yesterday and baby doing ok (touchwood!). Booked for induction on Monday if no appearance over the weekend! Will update next week!

Wishing everyone a good weekend! Smile

louisesh · 12/02/2011 15:27

Thanks very much Clare again , congrats XXXX

I m not brave just ended up in the worst situation ever and had no choice but to somehow find a way through for Georgie's sake.Enjoy your "babymoon" XXXXX

Penguinsmommy Hi ...Hope you re ok? Hope the things from Georgie's charity will help others experiencing this hell. You must be near term now?

Ba8y1 thanks.Im so so all i can do is take 1 day at a time.Good luck XXX

Gi1da · 12/02/2011 16:06

Congratulations Clarea, welcome Toby [hug]. Hope you are both settling in well.

Don't worry too much about the clexane, I found it ok. I think I only had to have 5 days in all, so by the time I went home I only had to do it twice. My last dose in hospital I did myself with the midwife watching so that I was sure I was doing it ok, recommend doing this so you feel confident doing it at home. See you on the other side soon x

Big Good Lucks to Ba8y and Lotta!

lia66 · 12/02/2011 20:55

louise can't say anything useful at all. Times like this i feel completely helpless for you. I can only hope that you get your bfp soon. Thinking of you. ((())) x

ouch bloody bh's just had lovely bath and hit by a nice strong bh when I got out. Reminds me of what I've got to come, Shit

:)

louisesh · 12/02/2011 22:42

Arh Lia thanks...You re so sweet XXX Take care.

Gonnabe · 12/02/2011 22:51

Evening ladies - hope all is well. I'm feeling pretty happy this evening as I have just been out- nothing major I know but I haven't been able to muster the energy or enthusiasm to go out since NY eve - and even then it was only to a friends house!! Think I may be turning a corner.

Nothing to report here - keeping my fingers crossed it stays that way! Just counting down to my midwife apt when with any luck I will hear a heart beating - still feel very nervous but have to try not to - if that makes sense?!?

Has anyone got any good tips for hiding the bump? I'm 14 weeks now and huge (I think my cream cake binge when I was worried is to blame) but don't want to advertise the fact at work - just in case- so tips gladly rec'd

Xx

Lotta123 · 13/02/2011 06:42

Louise Great news on the fundraising.

We're having a bit of a tough time. DH's mother passed away last week. Rather a shock and quite distressing. Spent part of due day planning a funeral.

I managed to look after DH for two days - tea, cuddles and encouragement - and then had a bit of a sorry-for-myself sob a few days later as am overdue, anxious about baby, worried about breastfeeding, trying to work out how to take a baby to a funeral (it's my first so feel quite clueless), wondering how we'll cope with lots of family around when we'd always planned on a quiet first few weeks and so on.

DH was fab. Big hug and reassured me lots that everything will be okay. He doesn't want lots of family around for hours on end either.

OP posts:
clareanna · 13/02/2011 09:04

Oh lotta how very very sad for you both. It's perfectly normal to have a wobble before you give birth, all I can say is that all those things you're worrying about will be resolved and will be worked through one way or another and you will cope with it somehow. Big hugs to you ((())

Am coming home today which is exciting but a bit scary. My beautiful boy is snoozing so thought i'd pop on while it's still fresh in my mind with some c section hospital bag essentials...
Things I would have packed if I was doing it again...

Large mug- vital for all tea drinkers! The paper cups you get are tiny

E45/ aqueous cream - if you have sensitive skin... After the op I had leg puffers boots on which inflate to squeeze your calf muscles and encourage circulation, for 24 hours. They are made of scratchy nylon and that combined with the heat on the ward has left me with itchy rashes on my legs.

Little bibs/ muslins- Toby has been coughing up lots of mucus so I had to ask dh to bring more of these in to save his clothes and bedding!

Good luck!

lia66 · 13/02/2011 09:49

Oh lotta how awful for you. The one thing is that you are unlikely to go into labour when it's terribly inconvenient, ie at the runeral/wake as your neo cortex of your brain will be stimultated and you won't let go enough. I feel for you

If you have the baby before the funeral, it really won't be a problem, my ds was 2 wks old at his great grandfather's funeral and he slept the whole time. It'll work out, try and delegate as much as you can, I know it was your mil but does dh have siblings that can chip in and help too given your circs. Please accept any help offered.

Ooh clare you're going home, how lovely for you, try and rest when you get there, you have just had major abdominal surgery.Let others look after you.

Gosh these bh really give me presure in my back passage, have to go to the loo each time, (lol sorry prob far tmi) Blush. I have to get through 2 and a half more weeks then baby can come whenever it likes, (37 wks earliest for hb). Last week I wanted it to arrive earlier but now it just needs to stay put t=for that bit longer.

Who's at the top now, would a clever person please update the list, (technophobe me)

Have good weekend all. :)

Lotta123 · 13/02/2011 11:15

Thanks Clare and Lia66. Really helpful to know Lia that you took a baby to a funeral when it was two weeks old. Think I'll ask one of my parents to help out because DH is going to be busy looking after his dad.

Will update the list.

OrangeGloss · 13/02/2011 21:59

Evening all, I've been absent for a while as I've been waiting for my 12 week scan, and thought I was tempting fate by posting here. I had my scan on Friday and measured 10+5 making me 11 weeks today, set me back a bit but am glad everything was ok Grin

So, not sure when I should join the list, maybe wait a week? I won't get anything else until MW at 16 weeks

Muser · 14/02/2011 08:54

Excellent news on the scan OrangeGloss, you must be so happy. Join the list when you feel ready, I'd think you could do it now. I think I joined after my 8 week scan because the odds of anything going wrong at that point aren't much less than at a 12 week scan.

Any baby news here yet? I am slightly concerned that I appear to be third on the list!

appleblossoms · 14/02/2011 08:55

Lovely to see you here orange.. Congrats on your almost 12 week scan, hurray hurray! Bet it's such a relief after the start you had. Are you feeling a little more relaxed now? Join the list whenever you like, tis up to you. Here's hoping the next 6 months pass a little more smoothly for you!

I'm glad you're experiencing the same thing as me crochet with the BH. I think it is quite normal, and I probably didn't pay much attention with it with DS....this time round every little thing is giving me a minor panic!

Loving the Thomas names....tis DS's favourite show at the moment, I think if he actually grasped he was having a baby brother he'd insist on calling him Percy...or Bertie..they seem to be his favourite at the moment. At the moment when we ask him what's in mummy's tummy he says "ball"... Hmm he'll have a shock in 4 months!

Lotta, what a sad thing to happen - especially now. I hope you and DH are doing okay, and managing to get people to support you. Try not to worry about practicalities, they'll all work themselves out in the end. Just concentrate on you, DH and baby.

Yey for going home clare! Hope you're enjoying your babymoon!

clareanna · 14/02/2011 10:29

orange great news on your scan- I predict a girl!! ( my patented theory of boys measuring ahead and girls behind at 12 weeks...) think positive now- that bean is very determined and you're past the worst of it! By all means have another scan if you feel it will help your anxiety levels- I had about 6 before 20 weeks Blush

We are doing well- the Pamelas arrived last night so lots of milk for Toby. I did a bit too much though , combined with a normal bed to move around in means that I'm a bit sore today, so my plan is to have a shower and stay in bed for the rest of the day.

muser eeek almost there!!! So exciting!!! Are you all ready now? How is bump? Any sickness come back? Enjoy the next few weeks!!

Muser · 14/02/2011 11:08

I am all ready clareanna, just doing bits of cooking for the freezer but nothing we couldn't live without. The sickness never really properly went away, but it seems to have come back a bit more persistently in the last week. I keep hoping it's a sign of something happening. I've had quite persistent lower back ache and yesterday/today I'm sure the baby has been shifting down. It's felt very weird. But I could still have nearly a month to go. God knows how I'd make it, I am ready to have this baby!

SameOldJollster · 14/02/2011 11:26

hey Muse, it's my birthday next Weds, you're v v v v welcome to wait til then. Then you'd never forget me...? Grin xx

clareanna good to hear you're home and lact-happy!
