Wowed dorcas how exciting for you!!
I'm a bit of an emotional mess today - today is 13 weeks which is amazing but it is tainted by the big bleed and a&e trip I had on Monday and the threatened miscarriage news - yesterday had a tiny bit of pink again and this am an even tinyier bit of brown. To top it off hubbie leaves this am and isn't back til weds! Very nervous! Do u think the midwife might let me hear the heartbeat if I ask nicely??

Hello to everyone - you are all doing so well, I am always lurking at it gives me hope to see how many of us have managed to get preggers after a mc

X

Hurray for Dorcas! Good luck, hope you meet baby dorcas very soon!

Gonnabe That must have been very frightening for you - big hug. A threatened miscarriage is a term they use to describe bleeding when they don't really know where it came from. Did you have a scan on monday and see the baby? Unfortunately 13 weeks is too early for the mw to find or hear a heartbeat, so just try to rest today and stay positive.

northerngoldilocks · 03/02/2011 09:25

Yay Dorcas - sounds promising. Hope its not too long before you're telling us all about your beautiful new baby!

Gonnabe - sorry to hear you're having a bad day - waiting is horrible, but lots of people on here had bleeds early on and went on to have healthy babies so its not always bad news. Re the heartbeat, I guess you could ask, but at 13 weeks the baby is so tiny that the midwife might not be able to find it - especially if you have an anterior placenta (or the baby is 'hiding'). At my 16 week appointment the midwife checked the heartbeat but was only able to find it for a couple of seconds as it was moving around so much. Guess what I'm saying is it might not provide the reassurance you're looking for and could make you more stressed if she can't find it - but wouldn't actually mean anything was wrong.

I'm 34 weeks tomorrow and seem to be nearly at the top of the list - how did that happen? Still feel like a bit of a 'spectator' on the whole pregnancy thing - ie at NCT classes can see that everyone else is pregnant and going to have babies but have to keep reminding myself that I am too. Maybe once I'm on maternity leave the reality will sink in!

SameOldJollster · 03/02/2011 09:30

just saw Gonnabe's post

I had a threatened MC with DS at around 14 weeks, had already had nuchal scan etc, but had a massive gush and several hours worth of bright red blood. Was terrified. Was scanned at A&E and cervix checked. All was fine. Bleeding tailed off in a day or two but was pink and brown spotting for a bit. Hope you are ok. Echo what clareanna said, too early for HB via MW I think.

clareanna · 03/02/2011 09:40

northern with DS1 I didn't believe I was actually having a baby until I realised they were going to let me just walk out of the hospital with him in his car seat!!

Gonnabe · 03/02/2011 10:17

Thanks ladies - I think you are right, I just need to sit tight and wait. We've seen the baby twice this week once at a and e and then again the next day as we had the nt scan (although we chickened out of the blood test as we didn't want to know in the end!!)

I keep thinking happy thoughts.

You ladies are amazing - I find it all so hard to deal with after my first mc and although hubbie would like a football team I have told him that if we can just have this one I'll be happy, plus I'm 34 and I'm running put of time for a footie team!!

nickstermum · 03/02/2011 10:45

Gonnabe you and i are around the same time, I am 13+4... and although i had my 12 week scan last monday i am still terrified of MMC and refusing to believe everythings ok. I havent had a bleed like you, so can only imagine how terrifying it must be. One of the chatterers on the charters grads thread had a massive red bleed at 10 weeks, but again all has been fine with the scans. Scary as it is, your scans show that the baby is snug and will hopefully stay that way :) FX xx

I am also spookily 34 and feel (and look) bloody ancient at the minute due to crap energy levels... and DS waking me up in the night!

I too am desparate to hear the hb. Unless i pay for a 16 week scan i wont get to see it again til 20 weeks and i cant wait that long.

dorcas hope its progressing nicely! My body took forever to get properly into labour so i hope for you its not too slow, and not too fast either!!

Clare hope your SPD is much better today x

owlbooty · 03/02/2011 10:47

Maybe we could muster a footie team between us all :)

Good news that the bleed has tailed off, Gonnabe - and so sorry you've had such a scary experience. Keep thinking those happy thoughts x

owlbooty · 03/02/2011 10:47

Oh - I also am 34 :)

clareanna · 03/02/2011 14:13

I'm also 34... had to think there for a minute Blush

nickstermum · 03/02/2011 16:05

Does that mean we will all be batting for team blue? or should that be netball team Grin

Am dead certain i have felt flutters! Yes ok some have been followed by a gurgle, but i am SURE of it.... hope so :) only when i lie down at night to go to bed...sounds about right :)

also spoke to GP who has reassured me about a few things today (even telling me she had 2 MC's Shock between 1&2) Had my swab taken, and it appears that it could be bubble bath of all things causing it! God, i had thrown away my knicks and bought new fresh giant white ones, have been boil washing em, and its something as simple as that! Probiotic time methinks :)

Gonnabe · 03/02/2011 16:35

nickstermum I didn't realise you could feel flutters so early, that must be amazing.

I'm been signed off work for another week by the gp after I told her about the spotting - she said I'm not going to lie to you - it's not good..! Anyway, I'm listening to you ladies and not her. I've taken to eating choux buns in solace!!!

Muser · 03/02/2011 19:12

Fingers crossed for you Gonnabe.

tigerbear · 03/02/2011 20:43

gonnabe - Hello, fingers crossed for you. I would ask to hear the heartbeat - I could hear it at my 12 week scan, but obviously it's different for everyone, so don't worry if you can't hear it.

Loopy Im getting little dancing type movements on my bladder too!

DH and I bought our first practical things today - some little bodysuits and scratch mittens (only £5 for seven body suits from Primark!) and some big knickers for me for after the birth (mmm, sexy!). I haven't worn proper knickers for over 10 years - always wear g-strings. Getting used to big knickers will be weird (however I'm sure I'll have more to worry about post birth than my knickers!) Grin

tigerbear · 03/02/2011 20:45

Oh, and to my delight, I saw those ADULT full length sleep suits in Primark too!!! Most odd. I didn't get one!

Oh bugger more red blood..

Thanks for all your kind words xx

clareanna · 03/02/2011 22:05

tiger you can get maternity g-strings from mothercare... but be warned once you've tried the big knickers it's very hard to go back - sooo comfy and warm!!!!

gonnabe shite - sorry there is more bleeding. do you have any pain or cramping? I hope you are ok and if you're at all worried in the night please call the doc x

dorcas hope it's an eventful night for you tonight!

Gonnabe thinking of you hunni, it's a worrying time I know. Fingers crossed all is ok today xxx

Working from home today - have my 20 week scan at 1.30! I can't wait to see little dolly again. Lots of movement over the past two weeks. There's defo something in there Shock

How are the rest of you keeping? sorry I've been missing in action, it's been a busy time at work recently and if I'm not working I''m sleeping these days.

Happy Friday ladies, love to all x
