Viv I've had cankles since week 12 in sub zero temperatures. Can't imagine how I would fair over there! Hope the holiday is going well x

northerngoldilocks · 30/01/2011 09:52

Hi Hairy - lovely to see you back. Just to reiterate what others have said that the symptoms or lack of don't seem to make any difference and vary massively. In my first pregnancy (MMC) i had massively sore boobs that expanded quickly too - whereas this time they hardly hurt at all. Was worried - but then figured maybe they hurt through expansion/ hormones and the second time they'd already done it so didn't hurt.

Viv - hope the cankles go down once you get back to the UK as its not really sandals weather here!

Thank you all you lovelies!

Wave to viv and northern ... thanks both.

My Biscuit Biscuit are a bit sore today but I'm trying not to obsess.

lucysnowe · 30/01/2011 15:07

Hi all and welcome hairy! At the mo I have the thing where my symptoms are v. slight in morning, whereupon I freak out, and then I get loads more in the afternoon, and feel a bit better (and at the same time, worse Smile). Went to see midwife and she said I couldn't have a early scan on the NHS anyway as they don't do 'reassurance' scans. So now I have to wait till the end of Feb. I am going to be absolutely bricking myself till then. Am just getting to the stage (9 weeks) when everything went wrong last time...

tigerbear · 30/01/2011 18:45

Hi all,
I hope everyone is having a nice Sunday.
Still Envy that Viv is in sunny Thailand! It's sooo cold here again isn't it?

Can I ask Caribou, Viv and Loopy, as you're all closest in weeks to me on the list - what sort of movements are you getting? Can you feel proper kicks or still fluttery type of movements? I'm beginning to get obsessive again that I rarely feel tigerbaby, and certainly not any big kicks. I thought they were supposed to be quite big by approx 26 weeks?

CaribouMoo · 30/01/2011 20:38

Tiger I'm getting fairly hefty kicks, but I think the wee man has changed position recently. At first the kicks were at the front of my bump, now the big ones seem internal, bladder kicks and the likes. I'm almost certain he's in a breech position.

I was talking to a girl in our Cardiff office a few weeks ago, who is due 6 days before me. She was about 22 weeks and still hadn't felt a thing. She was just back from a MW check where strong HB was heard and at the anomoly scan couldn't believe how much the baby was writhing about because she hadn't felt him/ her moving.

As long as you're feeling some movement a few times a day I wouldn't get too worried. I was actually worried today that I hadn't felt anything since this morning but I'm getting some boots now. Some days he is busier than others as well.

Tiger I didn't feel anything for ages with my first and it was then only subtle for quite a while, this one I started feeling fluttering at about 11 weeks (thought I was imagining it lol).

Loopy Gotta say I think I was desperate for number two for years, but this pregnancy has been soooo much harder than my first (I can only put it down to being 10 years older lol) that I really don't feel upset that I know DH will never agree to any more. Eight kids Shock.....she has my admiration but I am not jealous like I may have been a few years ago Grin
Hope the cat is doing better.

Magic I do tend to just sit in the nursery alone with my thoughts....could sit there for hours if I had nothing else to do lol.

Hairy if it helps I had zero symptoms with DS, I only realise now how lucky I was. Try to relax, every pregnancy is different etc, etc.... Wink I know, I know, easier said than done.

owlbooty · 31/01/2011 12:10

Tiger do you know if your placenta is anterior (round the front?) - the doc said to me I probably wouldn't feel much for a very long time cos it was acting as a mini-beanbag!

VivClicquot · 31/01/2011 14:17

Hey tiger - I'm not really having any hefty kicks, but varying degrees of what I can only call pulses really. Like Moo, mine are very much internal - especially when I need the loo, but then I'm another with an anterior placenta, so am not sure how different they would feel if the placenta was where it should be. DH has only felt one kick so far, despite all our best intentions, so I def think that's soaking up the impact of them.

That said, they kicks do have a vague routine - a few light ones in the morning, maybe one or two mid-afternoon, and then any time after 7.30pm is the witching hour when I feel them most often and are the most pronounced.

tigerbear · 31/01/2011 14:47

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your responses ladies!
Viv, that's what it's like, a pulsing sort of feeling rather than proper kicks.
Owl - just checked my hospital notes - placenta is posterior.
Loopy, wow, 8 kids is superhuman!
Caribou Like your friend, I couldn't believe how much tigerbaby was moving at the scan, as couldn't feel anything at all.

Anyone else feeling greedy all the time? I want scones and cream, crisps, biscuits, everything!

tigerbear · 31/01/2011 14:51

Sorry stuffed, didn't say hello to you.
11 weeks is mega early to feel anything - are you getting massive kicks now?

Ivy how are you doing?

Does anyone know how Louise is?

Mamapower · 31/01/2011 15:25

Just a quickie: Muser just wanted to say a huge thank you for your advice, as they did only find the gestational sack but because of what you said, I didn't panic! mwah! Grin
They are assuming that because my cycle is short and I ov late that although I'm 6+1 actually the bean is only approx at the 5 week stage, which could also account for the fact that I was getting negatives from poas for 3 days before getting the positive. Re-scan next Friday!
Thanks all for hand holding Smile

PenguinsMummy · 31/01/2011 15:28

Ivy Just wanted to let you know that I got my HIP grant paid today Grin.

So we do qualify for payment by the skin of our teeth!! Hope you're feeling well.

Waves to all.

owlbooty · 31/01/2011 15:29

Mmm, scones. With clotted cream and jam.

They could well be right, MamaP - I got moved back a few days at my early scan, I also ov late - well done for not panicking Grin

Time to treat yourself to nice things, oh yes indeed.

stuffedmk · 31/01/2011 15:57

tiger Yep, 11 weeks was mega early and the after the MC I was convinced I must be imagining it but when I had my 12 week scan I could see what I was feeling Smile it can actually be worse though when you feel movement so early because it only takes a little change of position from bubs and you get days of not feeling anything (I had a few panics with that I can tell you) but nobody will do anything to check you out because you're not supposed to feel anything yet anyway Hmm
Anyway I get loads of massive kicks now, reassuring? yes....comfortable? no Grin

Muser · 31/01/2011 16:17

Well done on the not panicking mama. It does sound a lot like my experience, I didn't get a positive until I was about 3 days late either. Are you going to get scanned again before 12 weeks? I love looking at my 8 week scan with the little blob and now thinking that the tiny blob is a big massive baby!

clareanna · 31/01/2011 17:13

afternoon all - how are you?
I have had a massage and my hair done so am feeling (almost) human.
Next week I'm getting my eyelashes, eyebrows and a wax done and have started my grad tan regime in run up to birth.
I realise I now sound like a demented footballers wife, which couldn't be further from the truth, so I'll now move on to see if anyone else has also developed an unhealthy obsession with comfortable night wear?! So far i've taken 3 nighties and 2 pairs of Pjs back to mothercare as I can't decide which ones I like best. This is clear displacement behaviour I know, and I thought I had nipped it in the bud, until I saw a rather nice nightie and robe on the M&P website.... SOMEONE CONFISCATE THE LAPTOP NOW.

mama great news that everything is where it should be and you're not worrying

lucy can't believe your mw said that - it's a real postcode lottery. could you have a private scan?

Lotta123 · 31/01/2011 17:56

Lucy, can you try other hospitals? Watford wouldn't scan despite GP asking for a reassurance scan. But Homerton let me self-refer as I'd already had one miscarriage. They scanned me twice over a fortnight. Worth phoning around EPUs as the policy
varies.

Unbuffy · 31/01/2011 19:15

lol at the idea of seances for infections - an alternative remedy I've not come accross before. Does the ectoplasm help too?

nickstermum · 31/01/2011 19:32

He he I think the ectoplasm is the problem :)

Let's face it, I'm just a twat that can't type :)
