A brand spanking new thread where we can chat about the state of our eggs, SWI, our veg patches and any other topic we fancy

mama I know an excellent decorator in York, £120 a day, no VAT coz he's below the income threshold. He provides the tools but you have to buy all the paint. Email me if you're interested

Meglet · 28/07/2010 21:29

becaroo Well done for getting the new job!

No potty training here until next summer. We need a quiet few months. DD does tell me when she has done a poo and will hop on and off the potty with very limited sucess (sp?) but I'm not up for another challenge just yet.

carrie I have IBS, although the last few months have obviously sent it through the roof and the hospital are muttering about investigating for Crohns disease, which I don't think it is but I might have the, ahem, investigation just to make sure. If I'm not stressed I can eat fruit and fibery things, but when I'm not (which is 99%) of the time I have to ba careful and stick to carbs or well cooked veg.

mamamuffin for the lady who was cheeky to you. Some people are bonkers.

Hi Becaroo how's DS1 getting on?

DD1 has finally started reading (yippeee ). In the last couple of months (since the SATS ) she's started reading by herself so much so that she's reading at least a book a day. It's such a jump from the girl who struggled to get through the simplest words in her books from school. Just the writing to go now!

CappuccinoCarrie · 29/07/2010 09:59

ninja that's great, well done dd1!
meglet I'd be very interested to hear how you manage your IBS and what foods are good/bad. I have no idea! I've had heartburn for the last couple of days which is a new one for me. But we've been eating quite badly, had a take away a week in the last month, and quite a lot of wine after the bfn

mama thank you for your reminder of what we have achieved in the last year, and for your concern and kind thoughts! It can be so hard when you're in it to take a step back. Quite a few friends from church have been praying with me, and I definitely feel more peaceful about the future and I'm stressing less. I know I can trust God whatever the outcome.

Got our weekly meeting with our project manager today, can't wait to see how much they've done, eeeek!

becaroo · 29/07/2010 12:40

Thanks meglet x

Hey ninja Great news about your dd! What a clever girl!

Ds1 is doing really well. He is so much happier and more confident now it is lovely to see. Only sticking block is still literacy but I am trying to be a bit more relaxed about it all. I am hoping he will be like your dd and something will just click. There is so much going on in the house at the moment and we have been on hols twice in the last 2 moths so we arent as structured as we were but he is doing really well with numeracy and science.

ninja · 29/07/2010 23:15

Glad he's happier now, it must be a relief that you did the right thing. Yes something did just click for DD1 and it was nothing we'd done (and we'd tried a lot).

Our extension is looking really good. And it looks like we might be able to move back next Saturday as planned...thus far this has been the least stressful extension of all time. But the tricky bits are still to come - choosing tiles, wooden flooring, and paint colours for the walls. I have a feeling DH aren't going to come to amicable agreements as we have with the rest of the build!
Going toaster and kettle shopping tomorrow, big decisions that mustn't be made in haste, although having two under 4s with us will prob make it harder!
DS says he'd like a tractor cake for his birthday! When pressed on the matter he'd like it to have a trailer with cows in. I'm getting really excited about him turning 2!

becaroo · 31/07/2010 10:11

Ooh, I love that bit carrie More painting for us today. sigh. I hate that bit!!!

Debs75 · 31/07/2010 12:52

Not even thought about what to do for Robyn's birthday. Having a newborn will push any big celebrations out of the window so we will probably just go for a cake and buffet with my mum and sis and a couple of friends.
Gosh even that sounds hard work.
We are birthday shopping for her next week, am thinking of a balance bike but we need one that 11 year old ds will not trash as he will definitely want to go on it. She loves toy story as well so a few things to do with that and she will be done.

Carrie I love that part of decorating and always have a particular way of doing a room in mind but we either don't get round to it or we have to settle for the cheap option and just splash some paint up.

Went to Chester Zoo yesterday(our 'holiday') and had a great time, am really knackered as we were on our feet all day but we saw some great animals. Have decided me and dp might go back when ds is in respite so we can see everything, ds got pretty stressed out at some of the animal houses so we had to rush through them. He missed seeing the apes as the crowds were huge and he just melted down. Was a pity as he would of loved them. On the plus side he slept like an angel last night so was worth the 6 hours travelling.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 31/07/2010 19:07

Remind me Debs, when are you due? It must be really quite soon?

Glad you got some answers Carrie. Maybe hard to listen to and take in, but a plan is always good.

Hurrah for dd1 Ninja

We've been looking at floor tiles today. I am bored with it already.

We haven't bought a kettle, or a toaster, or any flooring, or wall tiles. But we sucessfully moved house. Again. I'm getting so excited that they'll start fitting the kitchen on Monday. I'm gonna go round a few evenings this week and do some cleaning. I need a new washing up bowl too, and I don't know where my dustpan and brush are! So glad the really messy stuff is done now, its actually worth vacuuming the stairs. Think we might burn the bathroom carpet, its been absolutely trashed [really quite pleased about that emoticon]

debs DD's wooden balance bike is really sturdy. Its survived 5 year olds. Not sure about 11yo though...! I've heard wonderful things about chester zoo, sounds like a good idea to go back!

Debs75 · 31/07/2010 22:26

ILTMIMI 6th September but they are talking about inducing at 38 weeks(22nd August) due to GD and baby being transverse. Hoping to stick out till September at least. Starting to feel as big as a house and as slow as a snali but not doing too bad.

Carrie He's not too bad on toys he just wants to play with everything. He will be at school most of the time so we hide her baby musical toys which he loves to steal from her. quite surprised they have lasted as they are both rough with them. Will check out the ones you mentioned earlier.
Have fun cleaning after the builders. We had our electrics renewed a couple of years ago and went away whilst they did it. The house was like a bomb site, they broke ds's bed, ripped one carpet and the others were caked in dust. Not a happy return from holiday, they were only there 4 days as well.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 31/07/2010 22:58

Well done Ninja's DD1! Just shows you, they all get there in the end.

And Debs glad you liked Chester zoo. We live 15mins from it and LOVE it. We got our annual membership when C was 2 weeks old and I can highly recommend it. It is such a lovely zoo, great facilities and we often go just for a couple of hours for a stroll and a coffee (dog poo free wandering for C ).
However, I cannot even imagine how you will cope with 4 children, but I am sure you will.

Hopefully hoping all is going well and your pregnancy going well. I am due to ovulate in the next week or so so it's lots and lots of SWI here (well, when DP has the energy!). Can't believe how easy it is to understand my cycle thanks to the great book that everyone recommends.
We're off to Catalonia in 4 weeks, and reckon it'll be right in the middle of my cycle - am hoping sun, sea, sand and lots of sex!!! . A spanish baby would be ace.

And finally, we have a vole! Cat has brought one in and he has made a home behind the fridge and keeps popping out to steal cat biscuits. Little bugger!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 31/07/2010 23:00

Debs my sister had GD in both pregnancies. For her second they also talked about induction but she managed to stick it out to 40 weeks by agreeing that she would go to 40 weeks and if nothing then, she'd have a planned c section. Not sure if that would help you but don't agree to induction unless you are 100% happpy.

MrsA Unfortunately we live in Hull so the journey time is horrendous, OK for a one-off but too far to become a member or anything like that. Now feel insanely jealous that you live near such a great place, and all the other Zoo and Safari places that seem to be miles away from us.

Still not sure how I will cope with 4, some mornings I can hardly get to 10am without 1 or 2 major meltdowns.

Have we got a new thread yet?

I love Knowsley Safari park as well. We'[ve watched the lion cubs growing up over the past couple of years, they just play in front of the car
