A brand spanking new thread where we can chat about the state of our eggs, SWI, our veg patches and any other topic we fancy

Debs - thanks for that. Got GP appt for this morning and she read the new NICE guidelines and recommended just continuing with lactulose for a few months and getting nursery to give him more liquid, seeing as he's generally at #3 on the Bristol Poo Texture Scale...

Pacita - NHS trusts vary but round here they tend to only offer amnio if you're at 'high' risk of Downs etc. I think all you can do is decide with DH what you'd do if something showed up and take it from there. I missed the time window with A so had no tests until the 23-week anomaly scan so did'nt have to decide in the end.

Time to start packing! 6 hats, 3 dummies, 2 blankies, swimsuits for me (forgot mine on way to spa a few weeks ago so had to buy a new bikini. And a couple dresses while we were there without A. First clothes shop I've done in years!), my hat, suncream...

Debs75 · 09/07/2010 11:54

Ahh the Bristol Poo Texture Scale, what a lovely set of pictures

Pacita · 09/07/2010 21:14

LOL Bleurgh.

I can't remember who it was whose lo had an issue with suncream, but apparently I've learnt today that one should cover them in emolient cream, then apply sun lotion half an hour later. Hope this helps!

Have a fab hol, citrus!

DebiTheScot · 09/07/2010 21:34

Just played squash for an hour and now I think I might never move again!
Am on a bit of a health kick to try and lose the baby weight that's been there far too long now. Have been cutting down calories (not to a silly amount, but a fair bit less than what I was eating which was way too much) and running 3.5-4 miles every other day. Have lost 3.5 lbs in 2 weeks which I'm reasonably happy with.

Don't think I'll bother googling the poo scale. Why Bristol?

Meglet · 09/07/2010 22:11

They have the Bristol poo scale on posters in the toilets at our hospital. It did make me chuckle, although I daresay it is not a laughing matter if you have the rabbit pellet like poo's.

digitalgirl · 09/07/2010 23:46

mrsa depends on how long your cycle is. Or maybe something delayed ovulation this month. I've just ov'ed on day 25, but have a really long luteal phase so am on track for a 42 day cycle. Are you cross-checking your temps with any other fertile signs? I'm so irregular I pretty much use every ovulation tracker there is. Ov-sticks, cm, cp and now temping on the advice of my acupuncturist. If no luck this cycle I'll be getting bloods done to test for pcos.

Loving the veg patch chat. Our courgette plants have gone mental we have giant flowers just begging to be picked, stuffed and deep fried! Runner beans looking good. Toms starting to appear. The aubergine plant has been really slow but I think a bud has now appeared. Prob should pick some of the beetroot. Blueberries will be netted this weekend.

DS is snaffling the alpine strawberries as soon as they appear - he seems fine eating one or two. We're taking him to the gp on Monday to get him referred for a skin prick test. Am worried he has an intolerance to alot of fruit.

Bought one of those toddler toilet seat thingies you put on top of the big seat. No intention of potty training just yet. But hoping he might prefer sitting on the proper toilet as he refuses to sit on his potty even for fun.

ninja · 10/07/2010 08:40

M goes and hides when she;'s doing a poo. Does anyone else's do that?

Texture scale ?!?!

My mum swears by a propolis cream that she get from a local bee place for skin conditions. M has very dry patches and it definitely works with her and it's helped a friend's kid with eczema.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 10/07/2010 13:47

Thanks for the comments DG. i am trying not to worry (I worry alot), as my cycles are always between 28 and 32 days and I'm on day 25 today and still have low temps. Per CM, I ovulated about 3 or 4 days ago.
But this is my first cycle of charting and it'll be sods law that this is the one month I have a long cycle or don't ovulate.
I think cos it took us 12m to conceive C, I am worrying that maybe I only ovulate once or twice a year properly or lack progesterone (can you even get tablets for that!??).

Bottom line is I realise I'm doing exactly what I shouldn't and stressing about it. Need to relax.

Am very cross with DP today, though we've since made up. C did a wee on the carpet today and walked backwards while she did it, and he got cross with her . I had a go at him as that's such a no no, and he then thinks I'm saying he's crap at looking after C and I think I'm never wrong - oh you get the picture.
Sigh - he is so brilliant in so many ways but he continually seems to believe we have a 5 yr old who understands alot rather than a 21 month old.

And v jealous of those growing veg - need to get motivated.

Finally - wish us luck as tonight C goes into her big girl bed. We've just converted the cot into a cot bed. Gulp.
[Poor one-eyed cat, will have to sleep downstairs now as we'll have to shut stair gate and he can't jump over it]

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 10/07/2010 13:50

Just to clarify - I don't think I'm never wrong but DP thought I was saying to him "I know everything, I'm right and you're wrong", which I was in that situation clearly but not always

Ninja nope, not had hiding when pooing here. She does say 'choo choo' when she hears a plane though

ninja · 10/07/2010 13:57

M says 'plane coming' when she hears one (which is quite a lot)

IKWYM about being right - I think a lot of men don't appreciate info found from books or mumsnet!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 10/07/2010 20:01

Ninja when he shouted at her for weeing, I made some comment about nearly every parent in the world knows you don't do that and that those on MN would be horrified, and he said that half the women on MN needed therapy anyway!

I think most men don't seem to get MN, they think it's a bunch of old saddos with no life spouting about beansprouts and lentil weaving and free birthing

i think he's jealous I have somewhere to vent and ask stupid qns!

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 10/07/2010 20:03

Ooh - and C went down like a dream tonight in her big girl bed. We're using the sheet with blow up inserts for now, so she's OK with it on hols and will move onto a proper bed guard in a few weeks.
She took about 10minutes to settle and off she went. Yay Charlotte!!!

Debs75 · 10/07/2010 20:28

MrsA hooray for Charlotte.
Robyn wanted bed at 7'30 two hours ahead of schedule. She had no nap as ds was excited and woke her up. She will either sleep all night,i wish, or wake every other hour until midnight.
Men never hear you properly do they? It is tough as well when they think the dc is older then they really are. The last thing you need is C getting confused because his expectations are off. It could just be an off day tho.

As predicted Robyn is awake after only an hour

I hate painting.

notcitrus · 11/07/2010 12:22

A has tried to shut himself in the suitcase and refused to get out for ages - he's now playing with auntie rather than napping. We went to a fair with a sandpit yesterday so at least he's now enthusiastic about sand!

Are you all sure no-one's going to have a go at me on the beach if babies don't have nappies on? I guess just keep lots of baby wipes and baggies handy? [worries]

Can you tell I've never been on a seaside holiday before?

DebiTheScot · 11/07/2010 19:06

Aaarrggghhhh have just shouted at ds1 and now dh is moaning at me. We've been telling ds1 for about 2 weeks that if he's good he can stay up to watch the final tonight. he's been ok apart from this awful whinging and crying over nothing phase he seems to be in which I don't have a lot of patience for. But he's had a busy weekend and despite a snooze this aft (or maybe he's actually worse because of the snooze) he's done nothing but moan and whine and cry since his snooze. Dh has given him about 6 last chances to behave and I just lost it with him for crying over nothing and being miserble when he should be excited about staying up. Why are we bothering letting him have this special treat when he behaves like that?? Or am I expecting too much from a 4 year old.

And can someone with older children please reasure me that they grow out of the seeming to be constantly tired and therefore whingy all the time phase soon.

nc I'm sure no one will care. Wiping sand from bums is not nice though- it needs to be washed off. And don't let his willy burn!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/07/2010 19:45

MrsA - don't panic about your cycle yet. I think it can take quite a few months to really see what is going on and to see what is normal for you, and to learn how to read your chart.

I went to see the Stricty Come Dancing - The Professionals tour yesterday at the Hammersmith Apollo. The show was fab, the dancing was fab, the costumes were fab. The hot and packed underground was not so fab though. I thought I was going to melt!

No advice Debi, but I'm with you with the whinging and whining. It drives me insane. I wish I could blank it out, but I can't.

OP posts:
Debs75 · 11/07/2010 19:52

Debi It does stop eventually, unfortunately it just makes way for winging about something else.

Pacita we are currently decorating, well just slapping up magnolia to make it look ok so that the Housing Association will think we are good people to rent a house to. Apparently non-decorators are a nightmare. I don't mind painting as I get an hours peace from Robyn.

I got stung last night by a bee, it hurt at the time but today my hand has swollen and it aches like mad. Is that normal?
I know it wasn't normal me jumping around the garden trying to get the bee out of a t-shirt

DebiTheScot · 11/07/2010 22:35

Dh kept us apart while he bathed the boys and I sat and whinged on here. By the time he got out of the bath he'd calmed down and cheered up. So we apologised to each other and then enjoyed the game. Wasn't banking on extra time tho so am preparing for a grumpy boy tomorrow.

Pacita · 11/07/2010 23:09

Chuffed in the pacita household - champions of the world! Even Diego had the T-shirt. Not that he could care less, mind, or stay up, for that matter.

Kagey · 12/07/2010 12:53

Hello all,

I hope you are all well!

I have not been on here for ages and I have tried to catch up - congrats to those expecting babies and fingers crossed for those trying.

Well I have a little bit of an update... I got a BFP this morning and am so pleased We've been trying for 9 months and was getting upset each month. Two months ago I threw out the ovulation sticks as that was making me worse, and thought I would relax and see if that would make a difference and it finally did. If all goes ok, little one will be due in March 2011. I'll pop by every now and then and let you know how we are getting on.

Take care x

Debs75 · 12/07/2010 13:12

Great news Kagey

Robyn still thinks that it is roasting hot here, despite the steady rain. She is refusing to get dressed and is sat in her nappy watching Blues Clues.
She is also getting more chatty and will talk for ages.

Congratulations Kagey

NC - I've often had a naked girl running around the beach, although I'd worry more about sunburn than what opeople though (so maybe a nked toddler with a sunhat!!)

Pacita · 13/07/2010 09:00

Congratulations Kagey!

Diego spent most of our time in Spain naked NC, to the point that his grandmother complained that there were no presentable pictures to put in a frame, LOL.
