A brand spanking new thread where we can chat about the state of our eggs, SWI, our veg patches and any other topic we fancy

Toby tends to go under the kitchen table when he does a poo

1st day of summer hols and.....rain

Not that it matters, got 5 baskets of ironing to do...one of the worst bits of going on hols is the ironing hen you get back

ninja · 26/07/2010 09:56

Good One Debs - (to myself I'm adding

'is it time for nappy training? Not unless it stops this raining!')

We've got a few more messages to get opinions

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 26/07/2010 13:07

I like both of those suggestions

T is nowhere near potty training in any way - although DP has taught him to say wee wee and poo poo (which he does, loudly and at random, usually in public, with a look of deep pride on his face), but they're not in any way linked to the activities.

Wedding planning is in full swing - registry office booked (did I say that already?), deposit paid on photographer, dress planning is going well (although a bit alarmingly, given the potential size of my boobs), and I'm going fabric shopping for the cotton for bunting/picnic blankets/napkins etc.

becaroo · 26/07/2010 18:38

wow missed that - whens the date hopefully???

mamamuffin · 26/07/2010 19:39

Helllo there, I ve survived the first day of the school hols. Went to see toy story 3. Gosh take your hankies if you go.
No potty training here. I intend to do it next spring.
debi I live in cawood its a very small village so I might just bump into without knowing its you. I understand time is precious when your on holiday. There is a craft festival the last weekend in august if thats when your coming. Enjoy france.
Poo thread quite funny. xx If I knew how to I would do it. sorry xx

mamamuffin · 26/07/2010 19:41

Meglet · 26/07/2010 21:18

bookmarking... I am a very slack Sept 08 poster at the moment .

hopefully That's exciting actually getting to the putting money down part of planning a wedding!

Meglet · 26/07/2010 22:22

...have had a quick read..

hopefully your other news is even more exciting!

I'm starting a pre-birthday toy clear out before the DC's Autumn birthdays and Xmas fill the house to the brim again. I wish I could get XP's family to just give money. They are lovely, and last time they did get the things I asked them to get (lots of playdough, decent fisher price toys), but it's still too much for me to store anywhere.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 27/07/2010 12:30

Hi Meglet, how's it going? You are too slack and must come here more often

I know what you mean about the toy glut. Have you tried taking toys back? I've taken things back when I haven't had a receipt and didn't even know where it came from. That's bad isn't it? Or maybe even re-gift things. Again, that's bad isn't it?!!

I think I have a crush on you Hopefully . You're making bunting, blankets and napkins

Hi Starlight, it's good to see you

I can confirm there is no potty training going on in our house. DS is showing a fews signs of comprehension about poo'ing, but that's about it!

becaroo · 27/07/2010 20:26

Hey hey meglet good to hear from you and you too star

Well, I got offered a job today!!! I know...someone actually thinks i am employable! Its hilarious really

Job is an nhs clerk at the C S&H clinic 3 afternoons per week so only 10.5 hours per week. Think I am going to take it....got to pay for xmas somehow...sigh.

Got to have a massive clearout too soon as Tobys b day in 8 weeks then its xmas 12 weeks after that.

Not even thinking about potty training here til xmas or even after!

Pacita · 27/07/2010 20:27

Hi Starlight,

please don't leave again, as i'll have to bore you stiff with "breastfeeding woes: the return" as of next January.

How are things going in your battle against uncaring authorities?

Hopefully, when are you due?

Congrats Hopefully - what an exciting year you have ahead. Lots of news/gossip as appropriate please.

Anyone have any ideas as to how to reverse C's fear of wasps? It's completely (& stupidly) my fault. A wasp landed on me and I freaked out as I have a real phobia. I'm fine with all other insects - we even have a bee house in our garden with loads of bees. C now screams loudly if a wasp comes near and seems wary of flies/similar.
I'm gutted - and very annoyed at myself - any ideas as how to gradually reverse this fear (I accept it'll mean a bit of a backbone for me over wasps).

Oh, and while we're at it - anyone has a LO who is terrified of the hoover for no reason that we can fathom!!

ninja · 27/07/2010 23:25

Becaroo CONGRATULATIONS!!

Back to poo - M did a poo today in her normal place (behind the curtain) and came in and said - 'I done poo, I hiding curtain'

And to whoever said about love of jumping being fun in the pool - we11 I spent 90 mins today running along the side of a pool after a speedt toddler who would just launch herself at any random time. The lifeguards (except the nervous ones) thought it was hilarious! I let her go right under and come up herself a couple of times so she knows what it's like, but it didn't put her off. I'm also teaching her to hold onto the side. I'm now looking for a life jacket for her!

Sorry MrsA no ideas

Hi Starlight you can always sniff when we need a new Thread name. So far we've come up with

Our LO's are nearly 2, and they hide to do a poo.
(Is it time for potty training? Not until it stops this raining)

Hi Star welcome back hope things are getting better for your ds. Our Ds decided that he wasn't going to sleep last night, he was still wailing at 2am so dp brought him downstairs and he finally conked out at 7am. he is back in bed now fast asleep, will probably be there till dinner time. he gets so hormonal atm and can be very tearful.

Robyn doesn't like the hoover either but then I only use it once a week so she doesn't have chance to get used to it.

mamamuffin · 28/07/2010 13:09

Hello all. " The nearly two potty poo and job for becaroo " gets my vote
Congrats bec that job sound perfect for you.
Hi star we have missed you. Hope your not too tired debs. I have a toy vacumm cleaner for ds2 (a baby dyson) its great as he hovers as I do and we make it a game. I picked it up at a car boot for a few pence worth a try!!
and I took ds2 to do my weekly shop at morrrsions today. Its a mad dash as i left ds1 with my folks. Anyway I always put him in the seat in the trolley. He always has a bit of a cry and tantrum when I put him in but after a couple of minutes he is happy again. It allows me to whizz round. Anyway I only got as far as the cucumbers by the door when a lady in her 50 s came over to me. She said "why are you letting your baby cry", "he is obviously distressed in there and wants a cuddle" I replied "are you serious? you obviously havent got kids, your so rude and anyway its none of your business" Off she went.
Now baby e was still crying and i felt like such a bad mum and I felt like everyone was looking. I made a mistake of picking him up. He immediately stopped crying and I spent the rest of my shop with him on my hip, pushing a trolley and doing my shoppping. WTF did she have to make me feel so bad? Why did I even let her get to me? Now I have a baby who will never go back in a trolley Sorry for rant. Being a mum is tough without people making it harder for you.

CappuccinoCarrie · 28/07/2010 13:37

I've got internet again, yay! Our laptop wouldn't talk to the wireless in this house, so DH brought a good ol' fashioned cable back from work and bingo, back in the loop!

Huge congrats on the job becaroo.

mama we went to the Cawood craft festival last year!. Went on the last day and they'd finished the donkey rides so dd was really disappointed, but we got her a nice postman pat apron though!

Well I had my appointment...

Doc thinks I have IBS and endo. She's told me to eat a low fibre diet and referred me to the gastro people. I've got an appointment with her again in 4m, by which time I'll have been ttc for nearly a year. She said if we weren't ttc she'd put me on the pill; if my symptoms went away, that would diagnose the endo for them. Since we are ttc, they want to give the full year of trying to let nature take its course. The fact that I've got two dcs works against me as I've proved our ability to get pg! Also the surgery carries the risk of damaging things so you could never get pg again, and at 'only' 7m of trying, the risks outweigh the benefits. At least if we get to the stage of trying for a year I skip having to go to the GP, getting referred and waiting for an appointment, I can just go straight to the consultant as the appointment will already have been made.

Extension looking really good, they'll finish plastering today and then they can lay the floor. Once that's dried out they can start fitting the kitchen - hopefully next Monday! When I said we were planning to move back a week on Saturday the builder laughed...we'll not tell him some other friends are going away so we could stay out for another two weeks . DD is starting to get a bit cranky as the novelty of moving house every week is wearing off. Its to be expected really, the kids have been amazing through the whole thing.

Will come back and read the thread later, but I saw the following and just had to post ...

just for you Hopefully

becaroo · 28/07/2010 15:13

Hi ninja and thanks for the congrats everyone

Please dont put my name in the thread title...seriously...it will totally go to my head and I will start thinking I am important!

mama Well done you for telling that old busybody off!!! I lost count of the number of times some interfering old bag came up to ds1 when he was a toddler and told me he shouldnt have a dummy...I never stood up to them like you did (much to my regret) but just laughed it off but I wish now I had said somehting like..."actually he was born with IUGR and couldnt feed so had to have an ng tube and the paediatricans told me to give him a dummy to help him learn how to suck. That ok with you?" Or something like that! Toby is a thumb sucker - always has been - and I now get them telling me now that he souldnt be doing that. Sigh. You cant win. So I dont try.

carrie sounds fab What sort of kitchen have you gone for? Sorry to hear about the IBS and endo. I have IBS and it can be a nightmare at times.
We are still in a mess and have loads of decoarating to do.....got a lot of the plastering done whilst we were on hols but it will be a while before downstairs is done and then we have to start the bedrooms. will be glad when its done!

mamamuffin · 28/07/2010 16:25

Oh I just done a lovely long post then lost it.

Thanks for your kind words bec I actually thought I should have said more to the old bat but I think she got the message.

Carrie I am glad you have a plan of action now. At least you know what your dealing with. Can u try some alternative therapies like reki and reflexology too? I have heard that these can increase you chances of conceiving. I actually believe in all of these alternative therapies. Dont forget in the past 7 month whilst you have been ttc you have also sold your house, brought another, settled in and undergone major building work. All with two tiny tots in tow. Now you are getting sorted I am sure your body will respond with some happy news soon x

Talking of decorating I need my kitchen utility and downstairs loo painting. I have just had a quote for £800. Thats daft I think.
