Hi girls, thought the old thread was in need of a spring clean, plus, I'm sure if my memory serves me right, one of us had our May-due baby in March (Macoco???) so someone is 2 soon....!

shonnomanom · 26/03/2010 09:49

Happy 2nd Birthday Pipoca Jr! Baiyu glad your first day went well and ds is enjoying nursery. When are you planning on telling your employer about your expanding belly of joy?

LM hope you rlo is feeling better now.

I got a new car(not brand new, 06 plate) on Tuesday this week and already it needs fixed. Think the clutch is about to go and the steering is a bit squint so we'r on our way through to the garage. Dd loves it there cos they always give her big shiny balloons. The house is covered in balloons between many birthdays recently and many trips to car show rooms

Hope you all are well and have a good weekend!

Hello all, quiet around here this week!
DS been ill all week, all totally fed up now. He's much better now but sooo grumpy, poor wee thing but my patience is wearing thin. Really looking forward to going to work tomorrow for a break!

Willabywallaby · 31/03/2010 22:30

I was thinking it's been quiet and didn't know what to post, could do a long one of my uneventful life?

But I'll try this, and probably leave people out because I am rubbish at remembering what people write, I speed read and miss the names.

Baiyu and LM I hope your toddlers are now on the mend, and how are your new job/premises going?

Pipoca how was the birthday?

Sho and Mitchell how are you coping with the snow?

MM Did the trip to Poole fuel DS's desire for boats, what else have you been up to.

I'm going to keep posting until we're all shaken up!

Lucky2010 · 01/04/2010 07:21

WW work is FAB thanks, I love it!

Got the final of my weight loss competition today....then out of reat as much as you can Chinese with the guys from work later.....hopefully getting my meal paid for if I win the comp!!!

Well done LM with weight loss hope you won!

Lets give HM something to read when she gets back?

shonnomanom · 01/04/2010 21:58

HiDeHo

Yes, incredibly quiet, especially without HM

Aaaahhhh, easter holidays almost 2 weeks off work and 3 weeks off brownies. All this free time is spoiling me

ww myself personally havent had much troubles this week with the snow. But my village did.
I was working at 7am on Tuesday morning. Dug the car out the snow, got to work early, to find out that the power went out throughout the whole village at 1am and was now on half power. So dimed lights and not enough power to even make toast.
Our village doesnt have gas so every house is either heated by storage heaters or oil. My work, being an oil house got really cold, fast.
The schools back up generator failed at 10am but the council wouldnt give permission to send the kids home until 12. The kids were forced to go to the toilet in the dark and do their classwork with their jackets on.
Even once the power was back on, the heating system at work wouldnt reboot so it was freezing in the house. We were all dancing to Lets Dance(?) on the wii to kep warm.
I was soo cold that night I went to bed with a hot water bottle up my jumper!

Well dd gave us a bit of a surprise last weekend when she climbed out the cot in her sleeping bag! We moved her into the bed on Sunday night and she was up quite a few times, laughing might I add. Every night has got better and tonight she is trying out a duvet for the first time, also first time out of the sleepbag.

What is everyone planning, party/gift, for the fast approaching 2nd birthday?

Can you remember last year my brother and his gf were in Australia for a year? Well they went with another cupple. when my bro came home they applied for another 1year visa. They spent 2months over christmas working on a farming station so remote that there was no phone lines, tv etc. Needless to say that theyv just found out that their pregnant! Apparently he's really pissed that they need to come home in July instead of their planned September. How selfish eh.. men! lol

Have a good weekend and enjoy the chocolate overload!

Hello everyone, enjoying the easter holidays, not enjoying the snow. On Tuesday night over 6 inches fell through the night. Not impressed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And can totally relate to the FB page 'I loved the snow until 2010 too it to far'
To top it off DH was been away but gets home today so looking forward to that.

I love easter eggs so going to break the diet this weekend and be good again from monday. Have lost 2 stone since January but have more than that to still lose.

For DS2 birthday we will just have afew friends and family round for a small party/bbq, we have a bouncy castle so will hopefully be dry and kids can play outside. RE: Gifts I haven't a clue, because he has an older brother who is now obsessed with ben 10. Ds2 also keeps copying his brother and saying he wants ben 10. I think I might get him a toy story action figure as something different as doesn't need anything as already have 2 toy boxes and two cupboards full of toys/ crap and maybe a new tent/house thing for the garden. (will also be using previous party themed party plates/table cloths/ napkins etc I do feel mean, but it is such a waste to not use it again)

We have sunshine today so might let the kids play in the snow once we get back from picking up DH.

pipoca · 02/04/2010 14:52

Hi everyone,

Super quick message. Having LOVELY weather here in Spain, enjoying the sunshine. we had a nice quiet day for DS' birthday last week, went into town and visited some lovely gardens and fed the ducks and then for a tapas lunch. Weather was great. Just us family. Very nice and non stressful.
Where is HM? Has she left or is she just busy?

Mitchell81 · 02/04/2010 18:23

pipoca, HM is just busy with RL, course and kids so won't be around for abit.

baiyu · 02/04/2010 19:26

Hey all, nice to have a few posts to read, glad we're still going strong!

pipoca glad you're having a lovely time.

sho and mitchell sorry you've had so much hassle with snow, makes me a little bit glad to live in England now!

lucky Well done on the weight loss and so glad new premises are good.

My job going well, still just training but I like it so far, it's so peaceful

Planning a bit of a tea party for DS's birthday but no partybags and all that, just some food and running around, hopefully in the garden. Present wise, thinking some kind of bike but no clue whats best. Any recommendations?

Willabywallaby · 02/04/2010 23:21

baiyu only tip for bike is don't get one he can 'grow into' my Dad insisted on getting a 14 inch frame for DS 1 when he turned 2. He's only been able to pedal it since he turned 4! A wooden balance bike? Fit with your Eco friendly lifestyle?

Lucky2010 · 03/04/2010 15:17

Baiyu I would highly recommend one of these bikes. DD1 has the pink one, she got it for her 3rd birthday but the saddle height is adjustable. DD2 has got loads of use out of it, and also, she is much quicker on it than walking so when we go out with DD2 in the buggy I am usually running to try and catch her up!
The idea is that having no pedals teaches them to balance so they don't need stabilisers when they get a bike with pedals. Will let you know if it works when DD1 gets her bike for her birthday in May!!

Having brilliant birthday. Took the girls swimming and DD1 randomly decided to jump in and just start swimming without her armbands!!! I was so proud I nearly cried!!
Got my sis and her hubby coming over in a bit and gonna have a meal with them tonight.

Happy Easter everyone!! I am enjoying my carbs (for a short while....don't want to ruin all my hard work!!) this weekend!

Off to superbro's Monday for a few days.

Happy Days!!

Hi
Happy Easter!

Baiyu those bikes that Lucky mentioned come highly recommended. My niece and her neighbour both have them, she's not ready yet for pedals but he has had a successful transition so im told.

Im thinking of getting dd a Kitchen for her bday. Mil got her a crap plastic one for her christmas. Its so flimsy that dd was swinging it about as if it was a handbag. It was all one peice so it never had any openenings iykwim.
Im dreading all the family coming over already. Both dp and I have big families and we live in a small flat. Last year it was a roasting hot day.

Hope everyone is well and having a good easter. Dd is full of snotters just now and she's really cranky as a result. Calpol doesnt help with the crankiness unfortunatly.

monkeysmama · 05/04/2010 18:47

Hello girls

Been having the worst time ever - 3 funerals in ten days all of people I cared about a lot.

Anyway, nice to catch up and see how you're all doing.

Baiyu glad you're enjoying the job. Dd has a bike similar to the one LM linked to and was "riding" it within about half hour of getting it.

Sho we have the red retro John Lewis kitchen (can't find a link) but it is really good, easy to put together (you'll need a screwdriver though) and dd loves it.

We are having a big party again for her birthday. 70 odd last year and will be same again. We'll have a special day just us 3 doing something on her actual birthday (Friday 14th) but will have a big party in the park next to our house again the next day. I have 6 sisters so adding partners, dad's ex partners, kids, dp's friends, dp's family, my friends and kids etc we get to a big number very quickly. It is nice to have one day a year when we do something with everyone there and dd is a pretty good thing to celebrate .

How is everyone else dealing with discipline? Anyone else got a bubba obsessed with hiding? My dd is constantly in the cupboards / wardrobe etc.

Hope everyone is well and happy. Sorry I've missed loads off.

LM did I understand it is your birthday? Hope you have a brilliant one if so.

MM x

Willabywallaby · 05/04/2010 19:02

MM sorry to hear of all the funerals x

Mitchell81 · 05/04/2010 21:11

So sorry to hear that monkeysmama. Hope you are ok

Lucky2010 · 06/04/2010 19:15

MM Sorry to hear about all those funerals. .
Yes it was my birthday on Easter Saturday...I had a brilliant day thanks!

Re- discipline. DD2 is being very trying at the moment. I'm hoping she's just a bit over-tired, as she hasn't been having her daily nap with all that's been going on. She's such a feisty hooligan. She throws toys, DD1 (nearly 4yrs old) is at an age where she loves playing with lots of little things, i.e. all the little people are in a school, or all her cars are a car park. All very neat and in line with mummy's mild OCD (that's my girl!).DD2 keeps coming along and just swiping them all away...little monkey. There has been lots of naughty steppage!

Mealtimes also a bit trying. She has 3 mouthfuls then pushes the plate away demanding 'a treat!'....she doesn't get one unless she eats her dinner, so most nights she goes without. I'm suprised she hasn't cottoned on yet .

Having said all that, DD1 was very trying at the same age, and we just stuck to our guns, never gave in to her, and now she is an angel!! I have to keep looking at her to remind me that this is just a phase we have to go through, and if we stick with it, DD2 should end up like her lovely big sis. I hope that gives some comfort to you FML's with her first experience of terrible twos!!!

The plan is to start potty training at the end of this week when we are back home.

WARNING .
So, we're at superbro's.....since our last visit, he's had a jacuzzi bath installed in the guest bathroom. He's just brought me down a glass of red wine while the dinner finishes cooking .
It's very nice to have a break away!

Hope you are all well and not eating your body weight in chocolate like me (note to self, don't put all the weight on you just lost!!!).
