Hi girls, thought the old thread was in need of a spring clean, plus, I'm sure if my memory serves me right, one of us had our May-due baby in March (Macoco???) so someone is 2 soon....!

mm so sorry to hear of the hard time your going through just now.
I dont know which part of your SB story I am more of!

lm happy birthday

DD doesnt get much chocolate. In fact we still have loads left over from christmas, and tbh if it wasnt milkybar it would have been in my belly a long time ago. We'v had to hid all her eggs (she got 7, which is not too bad considering everyone knows she doesnt get alot) as she she turns into the the Hulk trying to opening the boxes!

The Terrible Twos arrived here quite a while ago
She hasnt started hiding yet, but when you catch her doing something (she has a 'noughty'(sp?) alarm, she shouts NO NO NO while doing whatever she shouldnt be doing ) she runs off and traps herself in a corner, she especailly likes standing against the wardrobe dooors.

Hitting is most definately an issue just now. Fortunatley its only us that she hits and not other kids.

Today is the first sunny day of the Easter holidays so we'r planning on going to a petty zoo with a friend and her boy, we havent saw them since last September so plenty to catch up on.

Willabywallaby · 07/04/2010 22:03

Evening all,

Felt I should post something since I pestered everyone else. But not much to report here.

Have booked a holiday to Majorca at the start of May so looking forward to some sunshine. Going with my parents for a bit of extra childcare.

Had a quiet Easter weekend, my parents came down and stayed in their flat and my brother came for the Sunday. His wife was extra quiet and difficult to talk to. I find it hard with her since they've only been married 2 years (3days after DS2 was born) and they met in the US where she was working. I've never really got the chance to get to know her and I'm close to my brother so it feels a bit weird not being able to talk to her freely.

DS2 is turning into a right monkey he's so stubborn. It took me 10 minutes to get him to say sorry for hitting me. He does the sign for sorry which is rubbing your tummy with your hand in a fist, but her does the rubbing to the person he's saying sorry to, very cute, but takes him a long time sometimes. We put him outside the room if he's being antisocial and he can come back if he says sorry, lots of NOs to the requests for a sorry before it actually happens.

He went up to the big room in nursery on Tuesday, not sure how he got on since I only pick up on a Friday, so will find out at the end of the week..

Baiyu How did your new work take your good news?

Feel inspired by LM and the weight loss but still not doing anything about it .

Mitchell81 · 08/04/2010 07:55

Morning everyone. Our household has a sickness bug both boys had it for days but seem to be better since yesterday but now DD has it. Was sick before bed and twice in the night. She is supposed to have hospital appointment this afternoon so will have to cancel it again. 2nd time I've had to cancel it. So annoying was looking forward to getting out today.

I have some news but please no one mention on facebook as not telling Dh work and kids schools etc until it is closer to actual moving time. We have put our application in to Australia for dh qualifications to be assessed. First step on the way to immigrating to oz. But all the different steps can take years. Hoping it will happen quickly as I am very impatient. Will only be applying for temporary visa as would fail medicals with Dd before we had even got through the door. So it might just be a 4 year trip but would be hoping to make it permanent.

Willabywallaby · 08/04/2010 13:15

Wow Mitchell what is with FMLs and emigrating? Good luck with it all.

monkeysmama · 08/04/2010 20:08

Have I missed something? Who else is emigrating? Good luck btw!

baiyu · 08/04/2010 20:38

Wow mitchell that's big news, good luck with it all!

Work were fine with my news thanks, well I hope so anyway, I wasn't there when management were told but everyone's been friendly, in fact nobody's mentioned it. Don't think the other girls in the office know but I don't really know them yet and it's not a very chatty workplace at the moment, enjoying it though, I appreciate the peace and quiet!

shonnomanom · 08/04/2010 21:27

Congrats mitchell, I hope its a smooth and quick process for you. Where in Oz are you looking at staying?
My brother and gf are also in the process of dealing with the 'mountain of paperwork' that you have to get assessed. They were told that the whole thing could take between 1.5 to 2 years once the paper work is in. Their going to Perth.

Glad everything went well with your work baiyu mm Flick(im sire that was her MN name, she has the Babies in Sheeps Clothing company) moved to South Africa at the turn of the year. She spoke more about it on fb than mn.

Mitchell81 · 09/04/2010 07:23

Thanks everyone, it is Perth aswell. Hoping we will know abit more before DS1 starts school in August 2011, but even if he had to start school here it would be early as Oz would only start the year after.

Lucky2010 · 10/04/2010 12:43

mitchell sounds fab!!

WW Don't be fooled, I have fallen off the wagon big time since last week! Decided to have a few days 'off the diet' but finding it really hard to get back on it, all this bloody choc around doesn't help! Everyday I decide to start afresh then something happens....been summonsed (?sp) to MIL's for a BBQ this afternoon. I know that sounds lovely, and it will be, but I just can't resist all the nice food, I'm so all or nothing. I can't go and 'be good' and just look at all that nice food! BUT I don't want to put all the weight back on!!!

I will definitely get back on the diet Monday at the latest .

OP posts:
Willabywallaby · 10/04/2010 13:10

At least you've been on the wagon in the first place it drove past me weeks ago .

Hope everyone's enjoying some sunshine.

DH outside 'fixing' his car, DS1 'helping', DS2 asleep, and I'm trying to find my cheque book to pay some bills. Think I may give up and fill out one for DH to sign, much easier! He seems to think because the credit card is in my name I should pay it, even though it's for skiing hire etc from hols and I for the holiday with my savings. And when his Dad sent us the money for their bit he sent one in DH's name . I think because I'm now earning again DH thinks I have pots of money. Very quiet at work and I only make money if I have something to do...

Anyway must get back to my jobs.

Parents coming soon so may try and nip out for a bit of shopping. We have no food and DS1 needs shorts for our Majorca hol next month and the rest of the summer .

Having a minor op on my bits on Monday. Squeezing DS2 out caused a skin tag which has bothered me for nearly 2 years! Parents down to look after DSs since I have to be at the hospital for 7.30 am and sit and wait my turn on the list. I'm having a local and they do the generals 1st so I think it's going to be a long morning. And I'm not looking forward to being poked about down there by whoever is doing it. I've only been examined by one man and that was my GP last month when I went to see if he could do it for me. So I'm hoping it's a woman.

monkeysmama · 12/04/2010 11:25

Hey girls

Just popping in to say a quick hello.

My best mate had her dd last night after a 36hr labour. She's named her after me which has made me very happy. Off to visit them in a week or two when I can organise a flight.

Dd hasn't been well for a week or two now. The dr keeps saying it is teeth but she now has an eczema like rash and a horrible big ulcer just inside her mouth so hasn't eaten properly for a day or two and has been screaming loads. I feel really sorry for her but she's waking up every two hours all night and I am so incredibly tired. It all coincides with weaning her off the breast two weeks ago so am a bit at what to do.

Anyone in touch with HM will you give her a wave from me. Hope she's having happy times.

Sho yes, Flick of course. I bought some more booties from her a few weeks ago actually.

Right, off to order some Baby Blooms to send to Italy!

Have a good week everyone .

Willabywallaby · 12/04/2010 11:28

Hope but they quietness on here everyone's enjoying the sunshine. I've been at the hospital for 4 hrs waiting my turn for my minor op.
Had a cry when I was shown to a cubicle to change into a gown and dressing gown and slippers. No one Told me I'd need them since I'm having a local I thought I could keep my own clothes on. At least I have a consultant ob and gnae doing it even if we did talk about his brace for 5 mins before he got round to discussing my procedure, which I'm quite anxious about . Anyway last one left in the waiting room, so should be called soon, hooray!

Willabywallaby · 12/04/2010 11:31

At least my new iPhone works, I've had uninterrupted MN for hours .

monkeysmama · 12/04/2010 11:37

Welcome to the club-my iPhone is my lifeline!

Willabywallaby · 12/04/2010 13:01

All done and tidy now off to catch some rays.

Mitchell81 · 12/04/2010 19:54

Glad to hear your op went well, Willabywallaby

And yes the sunshine has been fantastic and its forecast to stay good

Hello Monkeysmama Sorry to hear DD hasn't been well, it sounds like its been very painful for her.

We spent the day in hospital as DD hasn't been well for weeks and after 3 courses of anti biotics and a sickness bug needed some reassurance that it wasn't anything serious. So she has been given the all clear sort of as she is dehydrated and not better but they think it is just viral now from being ill for so long as just need to push the liquids. Fingers crossed she gets better soon as want her to go back to school, first day back today and she missed it and not sure how long till she will be well enough for school.

Lucky you have done so well losing that much weight, I am sure it will stay off now. I have finally started losing again after eating way to many easter eggs.

Willabywallaby · 13/04/2010 12:12

Sorry MM x posted so didn't read your post from Sunday til today. How's DD now, any better. How did the weaning go?

And Mitchell how's your DD now is she back at school?

LM how's potty training?

Mitchell81 · 13/04/2010 13:50

Willabywallaby, kept DD off school again today but is much brighter so will be going back tomorrow!

Lucky2010 · 13/04/2010 19:29

mitchell & MM sorry to hear your DDs have not been well . It's so worrying when they are ill, I hate it.

WW glad all went well. I am putting off buying an iphone cos I know I will be on it all the time and never get anything done then, I have to restrict myself on the laptop and haven't even got wireless as I know it would end up in bed with me (the laptop!).

POTTY TRAINING......BTW, am I the only one who has started?

Day 1 - HELL. She pee'd everywhere, didn't have a clue when she was going. Managed a poo in the potty after breakfast cos I sat her on it for 40 mins with a DVD on. Managed a tiny wee in the potty at the end of the day with me literally restraining her on there, and her crying her eyes out and really distressed. Was ready to give up thinking she wasn't ready (DD1 was a dream to potty train, she just got it straight away). Spoke to Denny who trained her DD2 (only a month older than mine) at Christmas. She said her DD2 was the same for first 2 days and to persevere.

Day 2 - DH's day with the kids. 3 poos in pants, but all wees in potty, albeit with lots of distress and crying and her being held on by DH.

Day 3 (today) - Hurrah! I think she's getting it!!! ALL wees in the potty, she knows when she wants to go, and tells us by saying 'sick!' (she thinks she's being sick cos it's fluid leaving her body ). First 2 times we had to hold her on potty, she cried a bit, but much less distressed. Had a 3 hour nap this afternoon (!!!!) and woke up with dry pull ups, and immed told DH she needed 'paw-tee' and did a wee with no fuss!!! She doesn't know when she is about to poo so they are generally in pants but if we catch her at the right time she does it on the potty.

The big difference to DD1 is that all 3 days she has had massive naps of 2.5-3 hrs and has woken with dry nappy, even on the first day. Amazing!

I know that might be a bit too much detail for some of you, but when you decide to give it a go, it might be of some interest to you!!! Sorry if I am a potty bore!!

It's a good time for us cos DD1 not at school, it's sunny so we have been in the garden a lot, DD2 running around with a bare bum.

I definitely feel we are over the worst of it and it's only day 3.

LM xxx

Hi,
Sorry to hear about poorly LOs. Hope everyone else is OK. Just popped in and OMG! Potty training???? No way! I wasn't even thinking about it until AT LEAST the summer and DS is older than your DD!
It's great if she's ready but DS isn't at all. Not really possible anyway as he doesn't have enough language (may 15 words tops), altho one of those words is poo.
He's also still in a cot and will be there for as long as he's happy in it.
Blimey...
Anyway, must run. Will try to pop in again later.

Lucky2010 · 13/04/2010 21:18

I think the general view is that girls are easier than boys. DD1 got it so quickly and she was 26 months when we trained her, I think we could have done her earlier, but DD2 was born. DD2 is 2 in 2 weeks (lots of 2's there!!). We thought we'd give it a go as it was a good time for us to try.

Please I hope no-one thinks I'm suggesting you should all follow suite....

OP posts:
monkeysmama · 14/04/2010 10:24

Hey girls

Pipoca does your ds have a favoured language with his words? Dd's language skills are really good but she has phases of favouring one language and has certain words she only ever says in one language. She is "translating" sometimes too which is so cute. She was watching Barbapapa' in Italian the other day when her dad came into the room and asked her what it was and she thought a bit and then said "Hair daddy". He didn't know what she was talking about but in Italian 'barba' means beard and papa' is daddy. I laughed a lot.

I forgot to tell you all my big news - I had my second driving lesson last night! I am not enjoying it that much really but am trying hard and cannot wait to be able to drive.

I am putting off potty training a bit . We have a potty and dd uses it for wees maybe once or twice a day and a few times for a poo but not consistently. She tells me when she is about to poo and is starting to do the same with weeing. We're off to Italy to see my best mate and her new baby next week and think we'll try and blitz it when we get back though may not. I am a bit relaxed about these things.

Hope all the sick bubbas are feeling better. Dd is much brighter.

Weaning is going fine. She's self weaned so apart from my boobs being a bit sore it's been simple.

Right - must dash, she's waking up from nap.

Have a nice day everyone.

harimo · 14/04/2010 15:02

Hello!! I'm trusting myself to be good now anD not post on too many threads!!

Just a quickie from me - I haven't had time to read what everyone has written!!

We're using the potty here. I'm not going to say potty training because I'm not putting any pressure on DS, but I think now is a good time and we will continue as the weather gets warmer.

DS will not use a potty - only one of the little seats that sits on a norrmal toilet, but this doesn't surprise me as he dislikes doing anything differently to me (he won't, for instance, use toddler cuttlery and will not bum shuffle down stairs - has to do everything as he see me do it!!) but it's going quite well. He's still in pull ups (I have neither the time or energy to deal with any accidents and would prefer that he learnt to control himself in his own time.

Well, will catch up with all your news tonight and post more later!

Harimo xx

harimo · 14/04/2010 15:10

About weaning.... How much milk do your LOs have now?

DS basically just eats what I eat now (as does DD, just a bit more mushed up - she is a very good eater!! ) - they have one bottle each before bed and one either in the night or in the morning (If they wake up in the night, they don't get another one in the morning, IYSWIM) and DD has one during the day (to co-incide with DS's nap other all hell breaks loose!! haha!)

DD has the red SMA (from 6 months) and DS has the green SMA (from 1 year). As soon as I can get DD off bottles, I will...as I think when she doesn't have them, DS won't be so bothered either - it's only when he sees hers that he kicks off!!!

Talking of kicking off, aren't tantrums funny???? I swear Haribo is going to be a rugby player: Cue: Run as FAST as you can... when you get caught, THROW yourself on the floor and stay there. Wait for a tiny sign you might be free... Get up and RUN as fast as possible again.

pipoca · 14/04/2010 22:50

Dear lord DS must sound like such a baby in comparison to some of your LOs. He sleeps (very happily) in a cot. He naps after lunch for an hour and a half to two hours. (Don't tell me your LOs have stopped napping too? ). He wears normal nappies, not pull ups and I have no intention of starting any potty training for a long while. I was thinking AT LEAST 2 and a half, so around September at the earliest.
As far as food goes he's great (well he's great in all respects, YKWIM) he doesn't have milk at all, hasn't since about 21 months. I tried changing to a cup and he point blank refused and then refused milk in any form.
speech is the one thing that can "worry" me from time to time. I'm not really worried, but he still has very few words. I know boys can be slower and bilingual boys can take til almost 3 to say much but it's the one thing I fret about sometimes.
In answer to MM he possibly says more in Spanish actually. He says in English:
hello
bye
dada
poo
no
teddy (altho also says something very similar for children and trolley)
has in the past said darden for garden and clock but hasn't for aaages now.

In Spanish
here you are (it's one word in Spanish)
cake
mummy
bye
hello

and then masses of noises. brrm for cars/vehicles, a funny little noise for water and just about any animal noise you can imagine.

He understands pretty much everything you say in both languages but it doesn't seem to have translated into words yet really.

Sometimes I fret there's something wrong with his language development but people keep telling me it's not abnormal for a bilingual child and as long as he understands it'll all come.

Hello HM so lovely to see you back here. Have you moved now? How's it all going?
