Hi girls, thought the old thread was in need of a spring clean, plus, I'm sure if my memory serves me right, one of us had our May-due baby in March (Macoco???) so someone is 2 soon....!

OP posts:

Hello, great news Pipoca.
Sho glad your dress arrived even if it was a day late. Hmm

Willabywallaby: hope you are feeling better

Lucky: Congrats on the weight loss that is fanatstic, when is the big weigh in day?

Going for my 12 week scan today so really looking forward to it, although need to drive in the snow to get there as it started again last night.

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 16/12/2010 20:42

Thanks Mitchell, big final weigh in is next tuesday 21st dec.

How was your scan? All OK I hope.

LM xx

Mitchell81 · 17/12/2010 07:05

Yes scan all well, lots of movement of arms and legs. (DD didn't/ couldnt move arms and legs in womb) very happy due date will be the week of 21 June till 28 June. ( waiting to hear section date)

Willabywallaby · 17/12/2010 09:20

That's great news Mitchell, it's so lovely to see some wiggling. Hope you had a good time at DH's work do, your photos are great.

I'm feeling a lot better now, but need to do mindfulness according GP, but it's the business that pushes me over the edge and finding time to do it....

Had DS1's 'wriggly nativity' last night, reception, year 1 and 2 at school. Reception song was enthusiastic but without tune Xmas Grin.

Off to his carol service in a mo. So not working today (probably why I'm feeling better!).

Hope you're all enjoying the Christmas build up. Must write some Christmas cards really....Xmas Blush

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 17/12/2010 23:25

WW Sorry to hear that you are still not quite feeling 100%. How was the carol service?

I had DD2's nativity today. She was an angel. Cute beyond belief.

Better go to bed. XXX

shonnomanom · 18/12/2010 23:03

mitchell great news on your scan!
On the dress fiasco; said late dress has been returned and im heading to the shops first thing to source something suitable for a christmas wedding that doesn tmake me look like a beached whale. Diet must start in the New Year!!

ww sorry to hear your still poorly, get well soon.

Hope everyone else is happy, healthy and preparing for next week

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 19/12/2010 11:01

Quite a bit of snow here. We've had to cancel plans for a Christmas meet up today with all my mates from uni and their families. Really gutted. Girls both managed to walk to mass and back in 10cm of snow. (about 20 min walk each way). This is probably a drop in the ocean compared to what sho and mitchell have had??

Got bloody tonsilitis again so probably not a bad thing that today is now going to be a quiet chilled out day at home.

sho good luck finding something for a Christmas wedding, I find winter weddings so hard to dress for.

I have nothing really to wear on Christmas Day. Having gone from a 12-14 to a size 10 Grin all my clothes are too big for me now. This is of course a wonderful feeling, but not very practical when I can't get to the shops on my own easily and can't really afford something new either after Christmas shopping has wiped my bank account!!

If anyone is seriously wanting to lose weight in new year, I can highly recommend new weight watchers propoints plan. I have done old WW for years on and off, but I started this plan 5 weeks ago and I've lost 10 lbs in 5 weeks! It might sound obvious, but you have to stick to it, but if you do, it really works. I'm on a MN WW thread and the whole thread has lost over 8 stone between us in the last 5 weeks. (about 12 people??)

Have a good Sunday all. Only about 5 of us posting on here now.....

Willabywallaby · 20/12/2010 11:35

DS1's Carol Service was good, the whole school in a local salvation army hall. Couldn't believe the amount of Mums that don't even try to sing the carols. I felt a bit sorry for the reception classes though since they can't read the words to join in. And they have to sit still for about 45 mins.

How's the tonsilitis LM? Fingers crossed you get a new wardrobe, could have fun in the sales? Xmas Envy.

Hope you found something Sho.

Off to Peter Pan panto later. Decided not to take DS2 since we went to the theatre the other day and as the lights went down he said 'I a bit scared', so taking DS1's best friend instead. It's a school group booking so hopefully we'll be sitting next to a familiar face. It has been snowing but is now raining so hoping the roads won't be too bad.

We did manage to build a snow man which is more than the other week when they both went to school/nursery and then it rained on the Friday night so was all gone when we had time to play.

Feeling a lot better now, thanks for the thoughts x

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 20/12/2010 18:37

Glad you are feeling better WW. I think you are wise not to take DS2 to panto, I think DD2 was too young for it really.

Just bought this dress to wear on Christmas day with berry red opaque tights. Really pleased with it.

Loads of patients cancelled today, onyl saw 2 people!!!

shonnomanom · 21/12/2010 10:22

ahhh just typed a long story and then the screen changed!! Xmas Angry

shonnomanom · 21/12/2010 10:27

Anyways.
Got a lbd at 60% off!!! It covers all the lumps, bumps and jiggly bits, so its all good. Gotta love the pre-christmas sales!!

lm well done on all the weight loss and enjoy shopping for your new wardrobe, love the dress btw.
My mum and are rejoining weighwatchers in the new year I think.

ww glad your feeling better.

We havent taken dd to panto this year either. Infact she hasnt seen Santa either. She is a big fan of his work but she gets star struck when she does see him. Dd tried to climb inside my jacket when we tried to see him at her cousins nursery christmas fair!

Got my Brownies christmas party tonight. Just baked 30 festive biscuits and got to go decorate them now.

Hope your all well and feeling festive

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 22/12/2010 19:56

sho Hope the Christmas party went well?
I think you are wise not to take DD to panto, in my experience, 2.5yrs is too young still.
DD2 also petrified of santa too!! Since MIL took her to see him, she keeps crying (proper crying with tears!) saying she doesn't want FC to come into her house. I am having to tell her he's not coming, then tell DD1 quietly, that of course he is coming!!

shonnomanom · 22/12/2010 21:08

lucky one of the mums at playgroup was just talking about that same situation today.
Her youngest dd(4y) doesnt want FC to come in to her house. After a discussion about no Santa means no presents. The compromise is that they now have a sign in the window telling FC only to go into the livingroom and to make sure he eats his mince pie and give the Rudolf his carrot.

Dd was really good with FC today at the christmas party. She wouldnt talk to him but as long as she kept my hand she would happily pose for a photo with him, and even danced in front of him! Xmas Smile

shonnomanom · 26/12/2010 11:36

Xmas Smile Merry Chistmas Everyone!! Xmas Smile

Ours has actually been quite lousy tbh, dd has a respritory(sp?) infection and we'r all feeling very sorry for her.

shonnomanom · 04/01/2011 23:16

All you married ladies!
I need your advice. This is strictly MN only, no FB - too many folk would blow things out of proportion.

Dp and I have been discussing a wedding.
NOW remember he hasnt got down on one knee with a ring yet (a mars bar delight wrapper = yes. But a ring = no)

Anyways, giving that doing things low key with just imidiate(sp?) family would be pretty big. Just us, parents, siblings & partners plus kids and my 2 grannies would equal 25 people!!! We are looking to cut corners and do things on the cheap.
So what Im asking is, What do we really need?
How do you decide on witnesses? Dp would like his friend and his fiance. But he never sees him (he lives in Aberdeen), and they dont keep in good contact, but they have been friends since nappies.
TBH and corny, we both have lots of good friends but our bff are each other.
We could always ask my friend who set us up, but 1. she lives in portugal and 2. she doesnt need the ego boost.

I reckon, at a push, we could do the dress, rings and ceremony for litle over a grand..
Oft this is hard work.
Anyone know a sure fire way to win the big on the lottery????????

Willabywallaby · 05/01/2011 09:45

I would recommend a titanium ring for him, My DH's was only £47!

LuckyLight · 05/01/2011 10:34

Look on ebay or in charity shope for dresses. My sister had one made for her which she then didn't fit in on the day Hmm so had to use her back up dress. She gave the original one to a charity shop, it had never been worn.

Failing that, her back up dress was from Monsoon, she got it in the sale for £64. It was over £200 initially. Now is a good time to buy anything what with all these sales on.

There are loads of ways you can save money, make your own invitations, or just buy packs of them in WHSmiths etc.

We did my flowers very cheaply, just cos it was what I wanted. My bridesmaids bouquets were only £10 each....5 gerberas and a bit of ribbon!!

Not sure about witnesses?? Do you have any siblings you could ask.

P.S. I thought your were married......tsk tsk!!!! (joking!!)

Mitchell81 · 05/01/2011 13:31

Congartulations Sho that is so exciting.

RE: Dresses, I tried on my dream dress in a wedding shop and price was £2000 then looked for it online and got it delivered from USA for £300 and then sold it on ebay for £350. as a corset style so didn't need any adjustments.

Made my own invitations, table decorations using candles etc. Ebay for disposable cameras, wedding favours. Also made table arrangements using fake wooden roses and holly from the garden, which I made a week before the day. Bought tiara, cape and veil off ebay. You can do it cheaply. Had venue at a golf club and 3 course lunch with coffee and chocs was £12 (bargain) Look at my wedding blessing album on FB, our whole day cost £2000 including hiring piper, wedding suits.

Borrowed a friends car for the wedding car, (silver audi A4 which he drove us to the church) Had profesional photographer as that is the only real remminder of the day so you need good photos. But a friend videoed it.

LuckyLight · 05/01/2011 13:43

sho forgot to actually congratulate you!

At last, something to waken our sleepy thread.....!!

I guess it's cos we're all on FB.
