Yay! What flavor of cake should I bake for everyone to celebrate?

littlepea72 · 24/02/2010 09:03

My jeans are getting tighter!!!!

rubyslippers · 24/02/2010 09:35

hello!!
red velvet cupcakes for me please

night from hell - Rubes up hourly

my jeans are v v v tight ....

princessmel · 24/02/2010 10:03

Morning!
Choc chip cake for me please

Thread title doesn't really apply me (even though I made it up..!)...no solids, no sitting and jeans fit I'll add a pic to profile.

F slept from 8.30-2 then till 6.30 and he slept in my bed till 8am.

Sticky eye's here too.

Had him weighed on monday and he's 14lb 14oz at 17 weeks.

princessmel · 24/02/2010 10:37

Calypso I feel for you about naptimes. As F is in a 2 hour feed cycle, by the time he's fed, played then slept he's only slept a short while before he wants feeding again ifykim.
Can I suggest something? Don't take it wrongly. But how about just letting her feed on you and then sleep on you for a while. I think sometimes we get so caught up in trying to achieve things like sleeping in cots etc , that we get so worked up about it and neither of you are happy.
I try to put F down with pat shush at least once a day but after his (usual)30 mins he wakes and normally he feeds and nods off again and I leave him there....cos I think he must need the sleep, and If I put him down he'll cry...and he's just too small and I can't bear it!!! (waffle)
What I'm trying to say is relax and enjoy your baby. She's only this small for such a short time. xxxx hope that cane out ok.

devilsadvocaat · 24/02/2010 12:33

remind me not to look at pm's photos again

charlie had last set of imms today, hurrah!

ruby - what are velvet cupcakes?

rubyslippers · 24/02/2010 13:41

they are heaven on earth

rubes is having a non sleeping day today

have just contacted a sleep nanny before i lose the plot completely

fidelma · 24/02/2010 14:48

thanks for the new thread.no sitting, yes solids most clothes fitting although i haven't tried my very skinny jeans yes as i think it would make me however as long as i feel strong i am not bothered yet !!!

i had to go to the dentist again today and i have finally had root canal now no pain.

connor in my arms, off to do the school runs in the snow.hugs everyone x

Scout19075 · 24/02/2010 16:09

No solids, more like leaning than sitting and yes, jeans fitting (have been for ages).

ruby Those cupcakes look yummy -- will add the recipe to my file!

fidelma Glad the tooth is feeling better! Root canals are no fun but so worth the discomfort!

Went to Tots today and Seb didn't like laying on his tummy (usually doesn't -- think it has to do with his reflux) but as soon as another baby laid tummy down across from him he was too nosy to cry/whinge. He's got great head/neck control and it looks like he's swimming when he's on his tum. Think he'd rather be playing with the "big kids" and their toys than stuck on mats on his back or tummy.

Seb's entertaining me with his "singing" and "dancing" to the CD I bought today. Babies are funny when they're not crying, aren't they?

CalypsoFramboise · 24/02/2010 17:05

hello all!

Had great fun at the pool today, Annalise noticably more co-ordinated than the last time we went before xmas, she still looks adorable in her red lizards swim pants

princessmel you are completely right, and my mum says the same - don't have a war with your LO. I am however not that fussed about where she sleeps as such, my biggest frustration lies with her being so tired that she doesn't feed well... She's only just made 12lbs at 21 weeks, v slow weight gain so I want her to be rested enough to not just snack! I will remember your words though before I let things escalate in my mind Today has already boon better, can't be as rubbish as yesterday!

Ruby poor you, I hope that the sleep nanny can help, you must be beyond exhausted. Lots of cyber support that you get rested xx

meet up this seems to have fizzled out although I am still dead keen! HT - when are you in London? Sunday 18th April? Can I suggest a London location unless Birmingham would mean a bigger group?
Attendees: Ruby, Devils, Treats? Bella, me, Scout, Iggly... who else said yes?

fidelma · 24/02/2010 17:47

i am up for an edinburgh meet up anyone eles? i think ht suggested may.

HumphreysCorner · 24/02/2010 18:17

Great thread title although my jeans seem to have shrunk and are making my bits sore and itchy. Must, must cut down.

Didn't know about breastmilk for sticky eyes, will have to try that. A school mum told me her 2 DC got this when cutting a tooth.

Must get on with tea. Oh, and M woke at 4am and 6-30am last night so that was better.

Laters!

HC

rubyslippers · 24/02/2010 19:39

yay for M's sleep!

am deffo up for a meet up in LDN (preferably) but could do birmingham

littlepea72 · 24/02/2010 19:47

Faith is 21 lb's at only 4 months but she only takes 5-6 bottles a day, she is on 8oz bottles & sometimes wants more, I have tried her on puree pears which she sucks on a bit, anyone any ideas what else i should try her on, I think she needs them now.

She had a really bad night, last night. Down at 7pm, up at 11pm & 3am for a feed, then decided that she was awake & ready for the day at 4.40am, also my DS was up & into my bed at 3.30 with nightmares....Im now ready for bed! Hope tonight is better. Like M HC, Faith wont let me put her down now, she screams & cries untill she almost stops breathing!

Looking forward to tomorrow night, 3 of my girl-friends are coming over, so i will raid the bakery of all their cake lol....no-wonder my jeans are getting tighter!

twinklegreen · 24/02/2010 20:04

I could possibly do a London meet up but only on a weekday, don't alter any plans around me though if weekends are better for everyone else as I'm not 100% sure I could make all the arrangements. It would involve staying with my sis and getting her to look after dd1 and ds for the day (no way could I negotiate LDN with all three in tow ) but I would REALLY love to meet up with you all

littlepea Amelie has a babyrice with banana mix which she loves That's all I give her, tried her with mashed banana and pear at my mum's but she was up all night trying to poo so haven't tried it again. Once she gets to 6 mths I will start giving her more variety.

OP posts:
fidelma · 24/02/2010 20:16

littlepeaI have given pears followed by baby porriage from plum organics, apple, carrot, sweet potatoe, green beans, banana and tonight advocado yum My DS1 held his breath when he was a baby sooooo badly that he passed out twice very scarey at the time.He still holds his breath when he gets hurt until he starts to go blue but i can now tell him to take a breath.Connor is also quite good at breath holding.I blow on his face and that makes him take a breath.I think it is called having a blue fit.once they passout they start breathing again.

Igglybuff · 24/02/2010 20:20

Hello new thread and bring on the cakes! I love lemon drizzle cake. And upside down peach cake. And banana cake. Er any cake really!

Ruby let me know how you get on with the sleep nanny. I was looking at the millpond sleep clinic, which claims a 97% success rate, the other day. They do a telephone consultation thingy which I was tempted to try.

calypso great news on Annalise sitting up! William can do a few seconds before crashing down on his face. William did roll over for the first time today though which was exciting. For me. He wasn't bothered. On naps - I just feed William to sleep as he gets hungry around nap time and will get upset if I try and get him to sleep without boob... So I'm just enjoying having him sleep on me as it means I can't go anywhere and it forces me to rest.

another baby after sooo many nights from hell I told my DH I am never doing it again. But I do want another one really as does he. I've been daydreaming about having a little girl with big curls and blue eyes to match William's!

HT hope the cream-egg free fortnight goes well..! I made tea with rice milk today and it was just disgusting.

scout did you find the pacifier?

I am pretty peed off today. Some punk has stolen my details and claimed working tax credits. I had a letter from HMRC saying I had to repay over £1k for tax credits they overpaid. Having never claimed in my life and not being eligible anyway I was not impressed. The nice woman on the phone said it should be sorted no problem. We'll see.

wow littlepea 4.40am start! I was upset at W's 5.30/6am starts. I think it's the sun creeping through - he wakes for a feed, sees the sun and thinks it's daytime. Our blackout blind is a bit pants. Something to fix asap.

I'm going to attempt to add some pics to my profile of William...

Igglybuff · 24/02/2010 20:28

I've just broken mumsnet trying to upload pics. Will do it on facebook instead!!

Scout19075 · 24/02/2010 20:29

Have tried an experiment with Seb. DH & I wondered out loud over the weekend if one of his shirts would comfort Seb the way one of mine seems to (as he's settling in to sleep at night). So tonight I put the usual shirt in on the usual side, but added one of DH's shirts on the other side. So what is Seb doing? He's clutching my shirt in his fist with his face rubbing on DH's. The minute I put DH's shirt in he went right for it and started soothing on it. It's so cute! However, now I'm worried the poor boy is going to roast -- my tee-shirt on one side, DH's on the other and his normal (double) fleece blanket. I never pull his blanket all the way up anyway but am still . Tomorrow I might just put DH's shirt in to see what happens! Does anyone else use shirts/cloths as soothers?

DH is late tonight (work do) so I'm making myself some dinner and settling down for the guilty pleasure that is American Idol.

Calpyso Yay for swimming! We start in April and can't wait -- can I pick your brain on what kit is needed for DCs to go swimming?

littlepea Fingers crossed for more sleep tonight. Enjoy raiding the bakery and having friends over!

HC Yay for more sleep! It's amazing how much better you can feel after even just one night. Hoping for another good night for you.

Good night Mommies and Babies!

fidelma · 24/02/2010 20:31

We had the 2 girls no problemo and then for number 3 decided to use the timing method to have a boy also used this for DS2 no idea if it was because of timing, we weren't bothered either way just decided to give it a go.I do have a friend who has used it 4 times successfullyGirl, boy, girl, boy all exactly 2 years apart [shok]

rubyslippers · 24/02/2010 20:32

i had a phone consult - she was helpful and i have a few things to try

the first thing i am going to do is not to feed her before 10 pm. If she wakes before then i will comfort her, but not feed her. I am also starting her "last" feed as close to 7 pm as possible, to push her to feeding as close to 10 pm as possible and see if that helps

Also, i should try to start her day at the same time each mroning ... not sure if i have the stomach for that as i am soooo tired

Am waiting for her to turn 6 months, get her onto solids, and see if she is still rubbish at 7/8 months and then i am looking at other sleep trainers

Millpond are meant to be excellent - i have also been looking at night nannies as well - they are ££££ but i have to go back to work in June and i can't do it on no sleep

fidelma · 24/02/2010 20:34

scout ment to say perhaps he ate the dummy !!!!

I am sure there are other things that I should be doing rather than MN I think I am getting addicted

Igglybuff · 24/02/2010 20:40

ruby Back to work in June it's approaching fast! We're trying to get William to stretch to three hours a night - DH settles him. It doesn't always work though Have you checked whether the wakings are wind related? Around 2-4am William wakes and wants a feed but I've realised that it can be wind as he doesn't feed as if he's that hungry. So I pump his legs and give him a burp to get a load out which means he can sometimes settle without a feed. This does not mean I get more sleep though unless I get DH to do the de-winding.

I'm holding out for 6 months too. Fingers crossed.

fidelma what's the timing method? I can't decide if I want a boy or a girl. I'd love two boys but William gets mistaken for a girl so often, maybe a girl would be super cute (shallow yes)

Scout19075 · 24/02/2010 20:46

fidelma I thought that, too! Especially when I went looking for it before I took him out of the basket and it was MIA.

However, I did manage to find it today -- somehow, and I still don't know how, it ended up in my backpack which was only partially opened at the end end of the basket. I was reorganizing/restocking it (my backpack is both the nappy bag and my handbag so I don't have to faff with two bags) before Tots today and found it. Stupid dummy. LOL Or should it be clever Sebby for tossing it and making the shot in the dark?

fidelma · 24/02/2010 20:55

Iggle For a girl you make love before you ovulate and then no more as the male sperm die off faster so when you do ovulate a girls hopefully will be waiting for the oppertunity!!!

For a boy make love when you are ovulating as male sperm swim faster so they win the prize!

All a bit of fun but it seemed to work for us
