work, news?! i thought you weren't going back yet?

dog, saw your fb status - sure you were hallucinating. standing up is for children, not newborn infants

much grumping in my house this morning and it's not all c. she has teething as an excuse, not sure what's up with me... will come back when not so grouchy. have nice weekends, all

PatTheHammer · 19/09/2009 17:43

Sorry AWOL last night as my friend round corner was in need of emergency wine so had to pop round for a few hours.

She got married today, took the kids to the church earlier and am off to the reception in a bit. Hope Z doesn't wake up much for the baby sitter. I have a taste for wine now!

moosemama · 19/09/2009 20:23

News? Working? I too thought you were still on maternity leave.

Very fraught and frazzled 48 hrs here. More homework traumas from ds1, then DH got a proper serve off me for being late home from the party this morning, then we had to shoot into town to do a great long list of jobs and ended up with ds2 having diarrhea in his pants in John Lewis and while we were dealing with that we got a flippin parking ticket!

So I'm erasing the last two days from history and starting again tomorrow. I am more tired than I thought it was possible to be so am going to collapse now. Hope everyone else is having a better weekend.

VeryHungryLennipillar · 19/09/2009 22:15

Fraught and frazzled would describe me too - will also be back once can cope with RL. We are very very very busy with DH's business - massive show next weekend which usually brings in the same amount in 2 days as we normally do in 2 months so it is pretty hectic. Plus he has a new store opening the week after and I'm still getting used to being home on my own while he's in the new office. We had some time out this afternoon though and a lovely walk for 3 hours along a gorgeous stretch of woodland/river. Was fab but my legs hurt!

Will be here even if I'm not. Not abandoning ship, just run off my feet.

elkiedee · 20/09/2009 00:23

Sorry moose and lenni, hope you both get a bit of breathing space soon.

Spill all, dog.... sounds intriguing!

Lenni gosh you sound busy - but yet still have time for a 3hr walk together. That's what I need to do with OH - RL is soooo busy at the moment, and we just don't get to spend any time together.... unless it's for a funeral! There is just always something that needs doing. Roll on October!

Haven't caught up at all I'm afraid, as have had family here - grandmother's funeral is tomorrow. Also N came down with a really bad cold 2 days ago, and got really wheezy - had a night from hell where he seemed to be really struggling for breath - I was about to call an ambulance but then we remembered the inhaler we had been given from last scary episode - so gave him a couple of puffs and that really helped. Took him to docs first thing in the morning, but by then he was breathing much better. We used one of those plug-in vaporisers last night and that really helped with his cold, so can highly recommend!

Hope you are all having a good weekend x

bodenaddict · 20/09/2009 09:59

mm - sounds like u r having a streesful time

miss j - good luck for tomorrow and poor nye hope he gets better soon

had a great day @ spa yesterday was very relaxing went into lots of steam rooms and swam etc.
then had a lovely tea out at a restaurant.
i had diahhrea though in the eve and was sick ok now

PatTheHammer · 20/09/2009 10:45

dog am intrigued as to why you were a twat too??? Be back later!

MissJ- poor N, how scary! Those vaporisers are brilliant, we always use them. Hope things calm down for you soon and lots of hugs for the funeral tomorrow x

Lenni- Sounds manically busy but at least the business is doing really well. Hope you get some time to relax soon. It must be hard. Walk sounds lovely though.

Boden- Sounds like your body was so relaxed it....erm....purged itself! Glad you enjoyed the spa, we are just about to book soon for my birthday (thanks to Gumps for the Cowley Manor reccommendation-it looks fab and the treatments sound fantastic!).

Can't remember who asked about coil but Lenni was exactly right in her answer (collect 10 house points!).
Remember that before a blastocyte can implant it is not even an embryo and therefore not technically 'alive' in its own right, no more than any of your clumps of your own cells. Suppose all depends on your definition of where life begins, but the difference between a fertilised egg and an embryo is staggering biologically.

News- What are you doing back at work???

Stripey- Hope C has come out of her strop, is she about to do something miraculous I wonder??? Z keeps waking at 1am and it is doing my nut in after some really good sleeping, although recently he has started walking with the walker, climbing up all the stairs, opening my kitchen cupboards and yesterday looked straight at DH and said 'Da-da' with conviction, so I think he has a lot going on in his brain!

Moose- What a horrendous day, bet you wish you could just erase it all and start again. Grrrr at the parking police.

Had a fantastic time at the wedding yesterday, it was so lovely. Z was so well behaved in the church, he especailly enjoyed clapping when they pronounced them man and wife. DD enjoyed the singing, although she did steal the order of service so DH and I were clueless as to the second and third verse of most of the hymns. My friend has a 2yr old DD who was bridesmaid and she looked gorgeous but absolutely ran riot in the church, twas quite hilarious! The evening do was lovely, left Z awake after a big feed and told MIL to put him to bed whenever he seemed really tired. Well the monster stayed up till 8.30 and then drank 4oz of milk (wtf!) before peacefully drifting off.
I had 3 glasses of rose so felt a bit giddy and hoped he wouldn't wake, so wasn't best pleased to see him at 1am this morning, or 6.30am for that matter!
DH now taken the kids out for a few hours so I am goiing to relax and have a bath

newspaperdelivery · 20/09/2009 14:29

Not returned to work just did a shift to help out as they were short staffed. Money for dd1 birthday paaaarty! We have hired a community hall with a mini soft play [£45 for 4 hours - bargain] and I am now getting carried away with orders for paper plates etc. I am really tempted to get an entertainer.....

Moose - what a crappola day for you! Chil this afternoon and as you say, start again tomorrow. Maybe naps tomorow with dd?

Lennie - walk sounds lovely [ at 3 hours - I'd ache too!] and business sounds very dynamic and exciting.

Dog - interesting.......tell us more.

Get better soon Nye, scary for you MissJ. I hope tomorrow is ok for you. x

Bodes - lucky you in your spa, less lucky you in your toilet. Bummer! grin] glad yu shock it off ok. More school for our newbies tomorrow. Must remember to find tie and iron everything.

Sounds liek a lovely day Pat. Our DD was 2.5 at our wedding, she was really good but came and sat on the alter steps and came and tugged at my gown when I was saying my vows to aske 'are you ok mummy?' She had announce the the crowd 'I'm just checking out mummy' It was very cute and raised a laugh.

Hi elkidee and stripey and all. Hope your are getting more rest Stripes.

Glorious sunshine but too sluggish to get up and get out in it. DD1 still really tired and tearful. SHe'lll be struggling tomorow.

Have a lovely Sunday all. x

Evening,

Fairly quiet day until having to attend a birthday party for no less than four of ds2's class mates this afternoon. Ds2 has been fine since his upset tum yesterday so haven't a clue what caused it.

Party was a nightmare lots of five to seven year old boys fighting each other on the dancefloor. It always serves to remind me how well behaved my own children are when I go to one of these parties and see first hand just what some of the other 'little darlings' are allowed to get up to.

Sorry to hear little N has been so poorly MissJ. Hope he makes a speedy recovery. Hope all goes well tomorrow too, I'll be thinking of you.

Lenni hope life settles down a bit for you soon and you get some well deserved rest.

Boden glad your anniversary went well. Shame about the tummy thing. Hope its gone as quick as ds2's did.

Dog what happened last night? You've gorn and peaked me interest nah and I probably won't be allowed back on the computer until tomorrow.

Good news though - dh has ordered himself a luvverly new computer which should be arriving early this week, so I may be able to check in in the evenings again soon.

Dog it does sound like a tricky situation, but it also sounds like you were the sensible one and only went along with it all to protect your friend. It would be great if it turns out to be the perfect house for you though - serendipity?

Gotta go, I have ds2 and dd screaming the house down at this moment in time. (Ds2 is exhausted and was lying naked on the floor flatly refusing to get up and put his PJs on and shouting "I can't get up!" in a very rude and cheeky manner, whilst flapping about like a dying insect. So he has been firemans lifted up to bed by dh kicking and screaming which woke dd up!) Gah! What was that I was saying about appreciating my well behaved children!

Gumps · 20/09/2009 19:08

Bad Moose your dust did not work last night. Surely we all signed a contract that at this point our babies would be sleeping didn't we? I want some kind of compensation.
Lenni the thing is I actually thought I was doing ok now! Did ask DH and he said he didnt think I showed any signs of depression but maybe he is just as sleep deprived as me and doesn't notice I did have both boys with me and the appointment was 50 mins later than it should have been and 30 mins after their lunchtime so they were quite fractious. The doctor just kept looking at me with pity....
Dog I heart you! You can call me whatever you like!
Right must read rest of thread.

moosemama · 20/09/2009 19:14

Oh Gumps sorry! Must've been a faulty batch, very little sleep here last night either. Might have to call the fairy folk manufacturers and lodge a complaint.

Screaming has stopped - for now. Ds2 was asleep almost as soon as his head hit the pillow. Poor little man was sooo tired, worn out having too much fun!

newspaperdelivery · 20/09/2009 19:32

Praise be, after a day of white-outs, shakes and lack of appetite, Jess has done a poo.

What a relief. DH said it was like two adult sized ones. Poor thing.

She has afighting chance of enjoing school and being able to eat now. Hurrah!

Gumps · 20/09/2009 19:44

Hurrah news! What is a white out? I aways thought it was some sort of drug reference?
Moose if you could get the dust sorted asap that would be ace. S already woken once and seems to misbehave at night the most when I have work the next day.
MissJ hope tomorrow goes ok. Thinking of you.
Why oh why when both dh and I are going to work tomorrow do I have to wash/iron all the clothes, arrange the child care and get all the kids stuff ready while he reads the paper? I am mad at him anyway for a boating incident today (long story but got stuck with the kids soaking wet, he had to drop us on the side of a river and I had to go seek refuge at a friends as we were locked out).
Got a mental week here so may not be about much so have a good one all.

moosemama · 20/09/2009 19:57

Gumps I was just thinking the same thing about ironing the uniforms. Why oh why do I always leave it until Sunday night then really resent doing it? To be fair my dh is currently making me a baked potato and not reading the paper, but he will be back on the computer in a minute and I will spend the next three hours getting everything ready for tomorrow. Will get right onto the dust situation - maybe opening a new packet will help.

Boating thing sounds, horrible and scary. Glad you are all safe and sound.

News yay for bowel activity! Hope J has a better day tomorrow and enjoys school.

Right really have got to go this time.

newspaperdelivery · 20/09/2009 20:07

White out in our house is when dd1 goes drip white and starts shaking - normally a sign she is witholding poo and having a blood pressure drop. Happens when she poo's too.

May also be a drug reference, presumably not lactalose

No ironing done, dh has offered. Hurrah! Week 1 of school dinners is all good except for Tuesday. So yay only one packed lunch, boo £8 to stump up.

MissJ - gosh yes Monday tomorow. Much love.

Gumps - Sounds awful, hope the week is not so busy as it promises.

Moose - good luck for the busy evening ahead. I feel like we are going into battle!

PatTheHammer · 20/09/2009 20:47

Have read but not absorbed much....too tired. But I do sympathise with the sunday evening stuff. DH did make the tea in his defence but ironing and washing would be me again.

Off to bed in a bit feel knackered despite having an hours kip this afternoon, and decidedly pre-menstrual too. Have decided to give Z a top up of formula at 10pm since he took it from MIL last night. Just no way I am doing a feed at 10, 1 and 6.30am. he is not a newborn anymore fgs, could someone please tell him!

Dog- Think you were the sensible one, your friend was a bit reckless. Could you have texted DP? Mind you, I always think of these things in hindsight. He doesn't sound too bothered though.

yay for DD's poo news, sounds awful to have to go through that. I always have viewed having a poo as one of lifes great pleasures () and so i do feel sorry for those who don't enjoy the whole experience. Glad she will be able to eat tomorrow.

Gumps- sorry about the boating thing and S still not sleeping, hope you feel better soon if its just hormonal it may subside in the next few days. Booking our spa tomorrow, woo-hoo! Thanks for the suggestions.

VeryHungryLennipillar · 20/09/2009 20:54

MissJ - I hope tomorrow is a lovely final farewell for your mammie and will be thinking of you.

Dog - I had to smile a little to myself reading your post, you do get yourself into some situations don't you?! Fab though if the house works out for you.

Moose/Gumps - sleep dust not working here either, although we are back to just one or two wakings a night now which I can cope with.

Sorry not to catch up with rest, must dash again... lots to do before we leave on Weds. Really uncomfortable about leaving my babies for 3 nights, but then DH is away for 5 nights so at least they are getting a balance. I am starting to feel quite torn with DS and bf, I don't know what to do for the best. I need to leave him more than I want to for work atm but don't want to stop bf, we both like it. Also I find it is another tool in the toolbox when he needs settling - I'm loathed to give it up. I'm rambling. Speak soon.

How was the shift News? A shock to the system or a nice reminder that you have another self?
