VeryHungryLennipillar · 20/09/2009 20:58

x-posted with you Pat - seems we are all in the same boat with feeding atm. DS has just started properly cruising the furniture today and was 'walking' from his Nanny to his Grandad this afternoon with one hand held. They are certainly in a development spurt it seems, shame about the calorific requirements! Also a shame that DS is eating really fussily after his illness, still not back on track so making up for it with more milk

VeryHungryLennipillar · 20/09/2009 21:32

Has anyone looked at their just born baby pictures lately? Don't do it is my advice, made me sob. Where has my baby gone I loved watching DD grow up, with DS it is such a melancholy experience. Off to wash up and sob into the dishwater. Hope to be back before we go on Weds, night all x

Hi Sparkle

Depends what you are looking for really. Traditional gown or contemporary outfit. I'm assuming contemporary as you don't want anything silky.

Have seen a few linen options:

about halfway down the page

quite a cute little romper thingy here

a couple of linen ones here

Hope that helps.

How's dd getting on Tink? Still loving school?

tinksbiggirlhasstartedschool · 21/09/2009 12:41

hi

mm - yep she is having a ball came home come coveed in apint again today cant stop talking about it

EachPeachPearMum · 21/09/2009 12:48

we need some of moose's dust too... seem to still be in teething hell, not sure how long it's been now...

DS has discovered screeching... oh the joy... I'm so pleased he's practising this skill...

moosemama · 21/09/2009 12:56

Great that she's loving it so much Tink. Mine frequently come home covered in paint/pen/lunch/mud etc etc etc - sign of a good day I reckon.

Peach Dust has been a bit defective the last couple of nights. Have put in a formal complaint to the fairies manufacturers and am hoping for a better batch to be delivered as soon as.

Dd has had a funny tummy (read, really yucky and verrrrry stinky) for a few days now, I think that is contributing to her restlessness at night (lots of leg slamming going on in her cot, accompanied by lots of smelly wind, lovely!) Am thinking it might be the same bug that ds2 had on Saturday but she is taking longer to get it out of her system so-to-speak. She doesn't seem poorly in herself though, but then neither did ds2, just the bad tummy and no other symptoms.

Evening Dog have snuck on before dh gets his mitts on the computer.

Sounds like you had a nice day. Hope Isla settles better tonight. Flippin' teeth - why does it all have to be so painful for the poor little mites?

Just been on the phone to my big sister. Shes's just got back from 4 weeks scouting for property in Belize as her and her partner are planning to open an eco resort there. She has a huge pustulant (sp?) swollen arm and having been to the GP the general feeling is that she has an armfull of bug eggs - euwwwww! She has been given some antibiotics, but if no better tomorrow has to see a tropical disease specialist! Weird thing is she still wants to live there. Oh, now I've put meself off my pasta!

Sparkle, which outfit did you choose?

Hope today went ok MissJ. I second Dog, big fat squashy hug from me as well.

Oh yes, by the way folks, looked it up in the Wonder Weeks book last night and we are all due another period of clinginess and generally fractious babies so at least we know we're normal. I think Pat and Lenni said yesterday it all seems to be related to sudden developmental phases. Bang on laydeez thats another 10 house points for Lenni and 10 for Pat as well (Lenni currently sitting pretty at the top of the leader board.)

moosemama · 21/09/2009 19:45

Ooh, just read that back. Please excuse my spelling, was trying to type too quickly whilst doing ten other things at the same time.

Yes Moose I got the good stuff!!! I know it won't ever happen if I say it out loud but S went back to sleep until 7am! Ok so he woke at 2am for a feed but for once DH did that one and I was on early shift. DH woke me to say S is awake and I said what time is it and he said ooh you lucky bugger it's 7am!!!! We both cheered and hugged in bed it was so exciting! Don't ditch the dust as a bad batch it's just clearly gumps specific so save it all for me!!! By the way arm bugs is one of the most disgusting things I have ever heard. Your poor sis
S also very clingy and dives out of anyones arms if I am within a 2m radius. Ds1 still bawling when I go to work that only daddys go to work and mummys stay home and cuddle
MissJ big hugs and as you are special I will share some dust with you, but only you .
Sparkleandshine I trawled the internet for hours looking for christening outfits. I went white trousers and a shirt with a little tank top. Haven't looked but one was from mammas and papas. If I ge a chance will have a look for you. There is a company called something and something (two names think one begins with E) and they have good stuff too. Sorry brain won't function.
Lenni you mentalist. Baby photos and wedding pictures only to be looked at when you know you can cope with the tears and have choc/vino on hand.

Gumps · 21/09/2009 20:03

And what does it say Moose for 9 months first week?

moosemama · 21/09/2009 20:22

Its not actually that specific and varies from baby to baby, but according to the book, generally speaking weeks 30-35 ish tend to be a calmer period leading up to weeks 36-40 ish when there is another period of rapid development coinciding with fussyness and fractious behaviour.

Apparently it can vary a couple of weeks either side with some babies.

The fussiness can include periods of regression and wanting to be babied, clingyness and not wanting to be be parted from Mum. Night restlessness and poor sleeping, including being awake in the night for no apparent reason and even playing in the middle of the night is also common. They can also develop fears such as heights or confined spaces, especially if they manage to wriggle themselves into dangerous situations. Some babies may suddenly decide they hate to be strapped into their carseat or pushchair.

pat I found a list you made on amazon today! was "dd's favourite books (0-2)" by 'P. TheHammer', gloucs... have put 'brown bear, brown bear' in my basket- never heard of it but it looks lovely!

moose but also for sister... how horrible.

dog I read that as "cooking Mr A." eek!

Christening outfit... what about vertbaudet? They often have nice formal stuff... and I have 25% discount code should you need it- 5719

moosemama · 21/09/2009 21:08

Dh has gone to put diesel in the car so I have a few more minutes.

Sister is surprisingly blase about it really, but then anyone who is mad enough to trek through the jungle accompanied by local guides who cleared the way through the undergrowth with machete type knives, just to view a plot of land, must be bonkers already methinks!

EachPeachPearMum · 21/09/2009 21:13

re changes... DS has started to howl when his Nana visits - thought he was going to miss out that stage...

he's also slightly obsessed with the hedgehog wall sticker above dd's bed, and tries to talk to it in the middle of the night when he's feeding

And he's started growling at the windchime in the kitchen, which for some reason he is a little disturbed by- he sort of snuggles into me/dh, puts on a brave face, growls, then looks all scared and hides his face in our shoulder... very very cute and funny (sorry... boring parental anecdote)

VeryHungryLennipillar · 21/09/2009 21:33

"Some babies may suddenly decide they hate to be strapped into their carseat or pushchair." Yep. That one ticked off today. I read DD's baby book last night to see if she was just as awkward at this age (worryingly she was sleeping better than DS!) and she had given up her pushchair altogether by next month please no one let my second baby grow up so quick. He stood alone for a second or two today, so I sat him back down and tried to pretend it didn't happen. My friend laughed at me.

Peach Your DS sounds so cute, I love the windchime story, you forget MN is one great big parental anecdote

at bug eggs Moose, that made me gag. Ick ick. Thank you for the house points I am very grateful for the wonder weeks update, that is reassuring - especially since DS is 40 weeks on Wednesday and he slept through last night 8pm-6am plus an extra hour in bed with us until 7am. I may have to wrestle some of that dust off you Gumps.

Also thinking of you MissJ hope you are holding up and the gorgeous Nye is keeping you smiling. I still have my fingers crossed for you for 'other' news too, keep us posted.

Sparkle Did you find anything? How are your plans going News?

We have Brown bear, brown bear out of the library at the moment. I love it but I fear DD is a bit beyond it now - she is asking for increasingly long winded 'proper' stories now rather than picture books with words iykwim, I'm sure we'll come back to it when she is reading alone in years to come though as I love it.

newspaperdelivery · 21/09/2009 21:43

Didn't really get past the sister with the eggs............I'd need sedation.

School a disaster. 5 days in and I'm looking for local home educators.

Hope you are ok MissJ.

Hatts is a loon at the mo. How many weeks is she? She shouted, yay-yay'd and yaaaa-yaaa'd very loudly till 3.30 am.

Sad stressed Tree goes for pizza

PatTheHammer · 21/09/2009 21:47

at my list Eachpeach!!!!!! I am such a sad-act!!! Remebering that she was about 18mths when I made that too [sob] where has my baby gone!

Lenni and Gumps, some of that dust must have fallen on Z last night, I had to wake BOTh of them up at 7.25am this morning or we were going to be late for nursery!

Hope all went well today MissJ, thoughts are with you.

Moose- Yack at those bugs!!! A colleague in my department has a DD who went trekking in the amazon and came back with some in HER HEAD!!!! hope it gets better soon. I have been looking at the wonder weeks again lately but rather embarrassingly forgot how many weeks DS is, so thanks for the reminder. It definitely all fits.

Dog- Oh yes, a good poo is right up there on my list of the great free things in life that you can enjoy, this may make me a weirdo but I don't care, I'm out and proud!
Hope you have a better night with Isla

Welcome back tea, hope hols were good.

Oh, Lenni, re bedtime books, we have started 'The Velveteen rabbit' as a bit of a longer one. Doing it in 3 instalments, its so incredibly lovely and sad at the same time. DD also into Beatrix Potter's at the moment. They take forever to read!
My photos are on 'random' on my screensaver and when a baby photo comes up I always swallow a little bit of sadness. DD loves them 'look mummy, its me as a baby, I look just like Z.........'

VeryHungryLennipillar · 21/09/2009 21:48

Oh Tree, sending virtual pizza and hugs and a shoulder to cry on. Is it anything specific or just everything? It will get better I'm sure of it. Are the school trying to help? Is it an option for you to help in some way during the day - or perhaps that would make things worse in the long run.
