Here we go then

roll up, roll up for the six month food fest.

Better night here, only two feeds at 1ish and 5ish, but at one point bumble was having a real chat to his blankie. DH was on the sofa and said he couldn't figure out who was talking and thought it was DD until he heard me say "shut up bumble". I have no recollection of it

We've given up with the porridge for a bit as it might have been that upsetting his tummy. He's certainly more cheerful now it's cleared his system.

MerryMarigold · 08/04/2009 21:52

Sorry for caps! I am a bit shouty, like all my kids.

Last year we 'did it' on day 10 of cycle. Ended up with twins. Scary enough for you?! .

Emmanj · 08/04/2009 21:58

OMG, twins....don't!! It was day 10 too?! but when conceiving DD1 ialways ovulated late in the month, usually day 18 or 19!

vbab , not sure if happy scare or not really?, feel like ive only just got over the last birth/pregnancy etc!. but, as ive shared on here, i did feel broody when i saw a little newborn in mammas and pappas teh other day.
Good luck for DH's snip!

LackaDAISYcal · 08/04/2009 22:04

how do you feel physically emmanj? I've always known I was pregnant before getting the confirmation of the test, but strangely enough not with bumble.....maybe too much in denial!!

OP posts:
MerryMarigold · 08/04/2009 22:05

What I didn't realise was sperm can live for a week!

I'm sure what happens will be 'right' for you and your family...and we'll all be hear to be a teensy bit envious if it does go positive (I am not ever ever ever EVER having any more).

Dh literally just walked in after a work jolly and has done 8 farts! YUCK.

ruthosaurus · 08/04/2009 22:12

Hi Vbab, so glad to her from you! Meet up week commencing Mon 20th April, venue tbc! Good on your DH for having the snip but can see what you mean about feeling hmm about it. I know there is a limit to how many babies I can have/want but it's the idea of limiting it, isn't it?

Emmanj, please test, women all over the country are on the edge of their seats! I have had the coil fitted but no period since Feb - erk - but I did a test about 3 weeks ago and it was neg. I have really irregular periods anyway, and so am not worried. Funny story: I got so twitchy about possibly being pg and my mate got so wound up as well that she did the 2nd test in the packet and misread the results and thought she was pg. We are both frickin' idiots.
What are your pg symptoms? I missed the beginning of this due to extreme crapness.

Merry, hugs to you, you are ace. I'm not surprised you are feeling a bit low - you have a heck of a lot on your plate. I think it's v sensible to be looking to the future and planning how you think you may be feeling in the autumn. Good on you.

Fin has been throwing up on me and himself and his daddy all day. I hugged DH earlier and recoiled from the smell of old vomit. I asked him to change his t-shirt but he forgot and if he wears it in bed I will SO throw up myself.

Finbo himself - El Vommo, as we may be referring to him in future if he keeps this up - went down like a felled tree at 8.40 and hasn't peeped since. He normally wakes up about 45 mins to an hour after going down for the first time and has a bit more bf and then goes out for the count after needing us to come up and reassuringly shove his dummy back in etc a couple of times. I last checked on him about 3/4 of an hour ago and he was fine. Weird. I will be narked AND relieved if/when he wakes up squeaking, but maybe he is tired out after all the throwing up.

Nope, he has just woken up shouting but his Daddy has shoved the dummy back in so we'll see...

Emmanj · 08/04/2009 22:13

Dont feel any different physically, slight tummy cramps but nothing major. have been feeling a bit sicky aswell but i think thats just tiredness and not eating properly?
Im gunna feel a right berk if im not pg, and have gone on about it on here, and got you all speculating! Whatever happens, we'll make the best of it

LOL at DH's 'entrance' merry!

Emmanj · 08/04/2009 22:17

rutho, the beginning of this saga was a night of drunken passion mid cycle with no protection....hence the paranoia!!

PMSL at description of Finbo as 'felled tree'!

LackaDAISYcal · 08/04/2009 22:19

We were a bit when I as pregnant, and although bumble is the most challenging and demading baby so far, our family is complete and now I can't imagine life without him.

Hi vbab.....hope you are well. jaunita and I were just wondering how you were earlier today. Are you coming to the northern coffee meetup?

OP posts:
barbareebaa · 08/04/2009 22:32

Well.... [taps foot]
I am very excited to find out results too Emmanj!! Like, noooo pressure

Merry You are a wonderful lady doing a fabulous job - so sorry you are feeling down. Can I do anything to help? If at any time you need to get out but don't know where to go you can always come here - I never venture very far! Thank you for your good advice re:weaning

Obs So kind to offer help - don't want to take over thread - I have so many q's about weaning that I think I ought to at least research a bit perhaps and come back with the bits that don't make sense? W's sleeping has got so much better these days too as has his general demeaner (what? that's not how you spell it!) so perhaps growthspurt blues!

and!!!

He has tooth numero quatre I do hope he dosn't test em out on me!

We wnt for a lovely walk in the park this aft and W was attracting lots of cooing ladies and dh's chest was all puffed out and I felt soooo happy and we also talked about next baby but he won't be pinned down to a date but I'm just going to keep slipping in the idea subliminally in his sleep!

pinky love to you, you are being very brave x

rutho So glad you got work sorted. Just wanted to say that W has also been pukey - he chucked up down my cleavage yesterday and it pooled in my bra. Nice

Soz to all I've missed!
x

ruthosaurus · 08/04/2009 22:42

Emmanj, nuthin' wrong with feeling like a berk! I am a complete lackwit but have realised that it cannot be helped. F'rexample, I have done a pg test and bought a carbon monoxide detector in the last month because I cannot, cannot believe that it is possible for mere lack of good sleep to make anyone feel this shoddy on a day to day basis...

Merry, yeah, what is it about men and being proud of farting? DH has been known to announce farts and actually lift a buttock. And then they wonder why you're not up for sex ten minutes later. Feh.

I have a lovely new book to play with - the Rough Guide to Babies and Toddlers (Caz Clarke). It is very funny and makes me feel better about being a muddle-headed amateur mummy.

Anyone else enjoying the sunshine? I just realised today that I am actually looking forward to getting up in the mornings as it is so nice and shiny outside and my little sausage boy is such fun to muck around with because everything is new and exciting for him. I am not used to feeling like this, it is strange and unsettling! In a good way, obv.

ruthosaurus · 08/04/2009 22:46

Holy crap, is that the time? Beddy byes for me. Night night all

twinklingfairy · 08/04/2009 23:23

I just sooo can't keep up with you all!!

I am a pile of ironing building up on the back of my couch type of house keeper.
Didn't used to be until my mum guilted me into ironing DDs clothes, when she looked so good when she came to see me in hospital.

emma soo excited for you. Will this be your 2nd or do you have more already. If you are pregnant, of course

We are defo not going to have anymore. DH had his snip last week. Not sure if anyone remembers that I said that, you move so fast, I think I get lost in the chat
He is doing ok. Moving slowly and carefully. He has had to take this week off work though cos they said they could not find him ground work
But I am, personally, glad. Me and pregnancy just don't mix Though it is such a big thing for DH and I am not sure that he realised that until it hit him on the way home from the hospital.

News from me!!
My DD is in a big bed and dummy free!
First night, but it went so well. I am a very proud mummy

tegan · 09/04/2009 07:54

Morning all

I had O weighed yesterday and after 10 days on the bottle and purees he gained a whopping 10oz. Hv said this was fine so i am not too worried.

O seems to be in a routine of cereal for breakfast puree something or other for lunch and a rusk before bed but he did have his first ice lolly yesterday. We were at mils and his cheeks were really red and hot and he was really whingy so i let him have a suck on a milk lolly which he loved and screamed when i took the stick away.

Emmaj - please bring us some news before the weekend. I secretly would of loved another but i will never let the words pass my lips and dh is still recovering from the snip.

Oblomov · 09/04/2009 08:15

Morning. Congrats to Hana on job. decisions, decisions.
Laugh at daisy and her washing. thats what happens to mine. all over the bed, then back in a pile ha ha.
Thanks Merry for concern. have been taking the bach remedy. not sure if it is working, to be honest. feeling o.k.
Think we need to produce a 'morons guide to weaning', for barbs and others like her, who don't have a clue, - good idea, guys ???
Must dash, have ds1's friend for the day.
The place looks like a bomb has hit it. Have sold my sling and swing on e-bay. we are doing ascot car boot this easter sunday and there is 'car boot stuff' in every room. in piles on every available space !!
when do we get to know about emmaj and pg test then ?

LackaDAISYcal · 09/04/2009 08:44

can I just boast that not only does my DH not think farts are hysterical, he rarely does them and when they do they don't smell . He also has strangely non smelly poo! He does poo four times a day though so maybe there isn't time for stinks to linger. The only time he pongs is when he is poorly!!

Gah my children are fighting over who gets to roll bumble back over onto his back this morning. Poor bumble is being pulled and poked and is actually laughing

tegan, DS1 put on loads of weight after I stopped BFing him, but he was a lot younger, so not sure how normal it is. The lolly is a great idea for teething, but I'd stick to frozen fruit purees for fear of the added sugar in ice lollies and developing a really sweet tooth. My DD would walk over hot coals for chocolate and sweets and it drives me bonkers. I must dig out my lolly moulds though.

OP posts:
chocolategal · 09/04/2009 09:15

Morning
That's a good idea about the frozen fruit lollys, would freezing water ones be ok? If it was boiled, then cooled, then frozen??

We have had a long lie this morning! E wouldn't settle in his cot after feed at 4am so took him in with me and we both slept until 8am! I feel so much better today.
Although he is just spitting his milk out this morning. I have noticed he is taking less and less of his morning milk. Does this suggest he doesn't need the overnight feed? How do you stop that one so he takes the breakfast one? Or should u just go with it just now and he might do ir himself?
Lots of questions, sorry!

chocolategal · 09/04/2009 09:22

Have just seen on FB that dozy is back in hosp with tonsilitis
Get well soon xx

Oblomov · 09/04/2009 09:27

choc, was just about to say, that dropping night feed, in order to get more feed first thing in morn, dozy is the woman for you. then saw post. oh dear. hope she is out again soon.

LackaDAISYcal · 09/04/2009 09:30

choc, water ones would be good too

poor dozy; I hope they just whip them out and then she can get well.

OP posts:
chocolategal · 09/04/2009 09:37

I know, I think the protocol up here is 3 lots of tonsilitis in a year then out they come!!
Poor dozy she was so looking forward to the hols too.

cricri · 09/04/2009 10:52

Just about to go away to Yorkshire for the Easter weekend and wanted to wish you all a very happy Easter
I've had a quick skim through the thread and wanted to say congratulations to Hana for the new job and hope they agree to reduced hours!
Also for Dozy with tonsilitis again, especially this weekend.
Emmanj I'm also on tenterhooks!
I'm taking my laptop with me so may get chance to log on later today and do a proper catch-up as the hotel where we're staying tonight has wifi. After that we're in the back of beyond! Looking forward to it - E's first holiday!
Thanks for all your comments about photos on FB by the way

PinkyMinxy · 09/04/2009 11:03

oh dear. Just saw the post about Dozy. I was wondering where she was. Hope she gets well soonn.x

Made pink milk lollies with the DC this week, but wouldn't give them to Mimi, as the 'pink'has sugar in it. Fruit puree lollies are very nice, though.

PinkyMinxy · 09/04/2009 11:05

And congratulations on the job, Hana. hope you get the hours you wanted.

MerryMarigold · 09/04/2009 11:37

great idea on the milk lollies! we make fruit juice ones, but it's a nightmare getting ds1 to drink milk, he LOVES lollies, i'm sure they'd fool him.

weaning qu's:

  • why is sugar bad for babies? (well, i know it's not good for anyone but is it any worse for babies?)
  • when is it ok to give dairy?

poor dozy, hope she gets well soon.

lacks is your dh an alien? . He does housework, buys you rings, never farts and does non smelly poos! WOW! [what would he say if he knew we knew these things!]

Emmanj · 09/04/2009 12:07

hi all,
chocolatgal - nice to get a lay in, it does make u feel better, i had one yest, howver feel like crap today so the 'refreshed' feel is only ever shortlived!

Poor dozy - big hugs.

Not sure about dropping the night feed, i too would be interested in this.

Have a lovely weekend away cricri, anyone else going away? Im planning on making the most of having DH around for 4 days!!

Hope to have some news for you all over the weekend! (yes it would be my 2nd twinkling)
