Here we go then

roll up, roll up for the six month food fest.

Better night here, only two feeds at 1ish and 5ish, but at one point bumble was having a real chat to his blankie. DH was on the sofa and said he couldn't figure out who was talking and thought it was DD until he heard me say "shut up bumble". I have no recollection of it

We've given up with the porridge for a bit as it might have been that upsetting his tummy. He's certainly more cheerful now it's cleared his system.

Hi all love the thread.

In the last week O has been trying loads of different foods and loving pureed fruit and rusks for supper. but he hasn.t returned to sleeping through yet, he is waking for 1 feed in the early hours.

ellielou02 · 07/04/2009 18:24

Hi all
thanks for the new thread daisy love the title, will be back later.

PinkyMinxy · 07/04/2009 18:41

Love the thread title, daisy. Had a better day today.

Mimi is fed up.SHe has gummy eyes. I think she has a cold/sore throat. I have a sore throat.

Fudge well done getting DH to take the boys!

I think my DH will have to take Mimi when I go to counselling from now on, because she blew raspberries throughout my session today.

I am quite sad. I am sad for the child I was, that no-one helped her, and that I have to accept that my birth family are all highly injurious to my health, and it has damaged me, quite badly- to the point where I feel seriously anxious when someone asks meif I want tea or coffee because I don't know what the 'right' answer is. It's hard to explain.

Thanks obs, Dozy. Thought my posts sounded a bit negative, s'all.

My new slings came today. Tghe didymos is beautiful. The bara barn ring sling is fab. Has pockets in the bottom, and is very lightweight for around the house/summer (should we have one). Mimi pooed it today though so it's had a wash!

Rosa · 07/04/2009 20:14

Pinky great that you went for the 1st session I hope it helps. Bless at the raspberry blowing ! Minirosa would have probably just dribbled ( great those ebay bibi bibs!)

LackaDAISYcal · 07/04/2009 20:25

pinky for your lost childhood, but that this is going to help you deal with your past, get some closure and move on.

bumble still upset in the tummy department and has puked and pooed his way through today, but he has been much happier.

Been playing with my new camera....it's fab. I got a lovely pic of DD pushing bumble on the swing

Great title dasiy. I love that 'rollin rollin' song. And it shall remind me everytime I read the thread!

How's the hols going? We had a 4 hr park trip today. It was quite difficult with ds1 and the babies as it is a very large playground and I couldn't follow ds1 around. Kept losing him from sight and then would have to search and find him. The last time it happened I spent 10mins looking for him. He was OUTSIDE hanging round the icecream van. Grrrrrrrrrr

Barbs, get a book if you want but my philosophy with ds1 was to just try stuff out on him! And just fruit and veg/ porridge till he was 7 months. I don't think I 'knew' this but something in my bones told me meat would be hard to digest. I mixed stuff from early on even though you are supposed to try 1 thing for a day or something to see if they are allergic. Anyway, he didn't seem allergic to anything so I just had great fun making things like potato, celery, spinach and carrot etc. and pureeing it up, Banana porridge a big favourite too. When can you give yoghurt?

My big mistake was too give too much food and too little milk. Like dozy, I love cooking and always took little pots of food out. If it's going to be a long day, you can freeze a pot and by evening it is still fresh. the plum stuff is nice but will set you back 3quid or so A POT! You can buy about 6 plastic pots for that price and make your own.

Baby Wiss is still getting tastes and loving them but no proper 'meals'.

Pinxy, glad you are still going for the counselling and it sounds like it is going 'well', though hard. It's a bit like slogging up a steep hill and then you can get to the top and feel the breeze in your hair and breathe in the clean air. So sad for your childhood but so admiring that you are such a brilliant mum. Got more admiration on my blankets today. Not just saying that - it's true! Another arty person (the lady who took the nice pics of me on my facebook).

Judo has started shouting and screeching. He was a really quiet, gentle, good nature baby. Suddenly changed into a very LOUD and shouty little boy. I hope it is short lived, I was hoping for a quiet one - the other two are so loud. Maybe it is just our family.

chocolategal · 07/04/2009 20:52

hi
Poor bumble, at least hes happy with all that pooing and puking!
Pinky hope you and your DD get over the cold quickly, also hope you find the counselling worthwhile and let you move on to a more positive place.

Rutho, i am back to work in July too, where did all that time go! i took 9 months off but had to use a month before DS arrived! Cant believe it has come round so quickly. I am only going back 3 days though so hopefully wont be too traumatic, in a way i am looking forward to being 'needed' again in a non mumsy way?!

juanitad · 07/04/2009 21:04

13th July is my back to work date - classic teacher, going back for last week of term in order to get paid over the summer holidays!! As it's only a week I don't need to organise childcare for then, as DH will take the week off work, so really September will be crunch time when I'll be back properly and P will be going into nursery 2 days a week and childminder 3 days. Sep/Oct/Nov are the best months to have a baby if you're a teacher cos you get most of a full year academic year off! I am hoping to win the lottery between now and Sept, as I would love to be a SAHM. Lots of people have asked me if I am getting bored being at home, but there is no way I am bored, there's so much to do when you've got a baby and lots of new people to meet!! Come on lottery numbers............

MerryMarigold · 07/04/2009 21:19

My sis is having a baby in August. Worst month for a teacher! (Especially as she works abroad, gets 6 weeks maternity pay only and that's all in the summer hols!) which she would have had off anyway. Poor dear.

LackaDAISYcal · 07/04/2009 21:21

I would love to go back to work, but the figures just don't add up....I would be paying out over 80% of my take home pay on childcare and the stress of the job just isn't worth it. I could get a job in Tesco and earn more with DH looking after the kids when I work. Makes me wonder why I bothered with university and then studying for professional exams etc. Mind you, no-one forced me to have three kids!!

jaunita, I'm off to the easter craft session at the children's centre tomorrow; it's 10am-12pm, ages 0-8 if you fancy it

I was told no gluten till 6months as well, but because of my coeliac disease we waited till DD was 9mo before introducing it. she had gluten free pasta, bread and ceral till then.

from what I've seen of the workings of bumble's bowels so far (he got really bad diahorrea when I had something with gluten in ) I'll be taking it very very slowly where cereals are concerned.

i'm holding out for redundancy as well hana...I'm sure my office think I won't be back and are waiting for me to hand in my notice. should i call their bluff and email them regarding a return date? I've just done a bit of checking and it would be cheaper for us to employ a full time nanny than use a childminder or nursery

AFingerofFudge · 07/04/2009 22:25

OK, in case you want to know, I had a great day with loads of headspace just for me!! Of course, on the shopping front I ended up buying stuff for the boys, stuff for DH, and er, nothing for me. However, don't mind really as it was just good to get out on my own and go at my pace rather than at M's pace.

DH did well, took them all to the park for a meet up with various mums from school. Think they took pity on him, so I don't think he saw M for very much of the afternoon.

The house was a tip when I came back, but he said rather smugly "well your plan backfired, it was a doddle today"
"oh, so you've cooked dinner and tidied the house and put the wash on, and hung the other wash out, and made the beds, and gone to the supermarket, and played with all the kids then eh?" cue shocked look from DH. Bless- he was really proud of himself and actually I think he did really well, even if it was "just" looking after the kids!!!

Dozymare · 07/04/2009 22:35

lacks same here re childcare costs....cheaper for us to get a nanny than pay a childminder for the 3 of them! Luckily, I have the option of not working which I am sooooo thankful for as don't want to do anything until tiger is at school. Don't mind the odd bit of freelancing but has to be on my terms.

hana part time work is the BEST option, especially if local, you get the best of both Worlds, bit of child free time and brain engaging activity!! Shame about your DH. He is being v.selfish, have you had a word?? A lot of men act like this after the arrival (or during the pregnancy) and it is almost as if they have to "prove" their lives haven't changed. have you tried having a chat with him about how you are feeling. he probably won't even realise he is being a twit.

Where is chocorange???

Dozymare · 07/04/2009 22:36

finger you bought NOTHING for yourself?!! The shame of it - tut, tut.

PinkyMinxy · 07/04/2009 22:46

Thank you everybody. I am so glad I have started to deal with all this. SOmetimes I want to run and hide, but I know it is going to be worth it in the end.

Lacks sorry bumble is poorly. Mimi has been doing the hugest poos ever, and I have given her some calpol again tonight as she is under the weather.

BaCK to work conversations.. eek! Not entirely financially viable here, either. But sadly no, Juanitad, we have not won the lottery! We just have to budget very carefully.

Mimi had a go in her trip trap today and sucked a bit of banana, but she's not really interested in food. She quite liked sitting in the chair though!

Fudge- glad you had a good day, on your practice run for DH. Now when you go on the proper trip you must come back with some things for Yourself!

ruthosaurus · 07/04/2009 23:11

Hi all,

Will catch up properly, probably tomorrow night, but just wanted to share that my boss has turned into a human being and I got the days I wanted! Yayyyyyyyyy! I am only going back 3 days a week so is all sorted.

I am fine with Finbo going to nursery (never did me any harm etc) but it is DH who is worried (his mum was at home with him and his brothers, so it's a case of what you know etc etc etc). I think some of the reasons I am fine is also because I am sure that I am not doing a lot of this parenting lark properly and at least Fin will be in the hands of professionals for 2 days a week (he gets my stepmum the other day - she never had babies of her own so is in the same leaky boat as me - it is a blessing as she can never tell me that she didn't do it like that ).

Night night all

Sorry for me posts, it's more like a blog from me at the mo'. I promise to catch up better soon.

Oblomov · 08/04/2009 07:36

Morning.
Am totally loving fudges description of her dh looking after the 3 children.

juanitad · 08/04/2009 07:58

Daisy, craft session sounds good, might pop along to see what's happening

tegan · 08/04/2009 08:47

I never even thought about the gluten thing in rusks, i did it with my other dc's so i automatically picked a box up and gave it to O, he seems fine and loves a rusk before bed.

Last night O spent his first night in his own room and he slept from 7.30 til 5.45 so perhaps dh was disturbing O when he came in from work at 1.30, i guess we will see tonight if it was a one off.

LackaDAISYcal · 08/04/2009 09:11

just a quick hello for me; was checking my emails and couldn't resist

fudge, shame on you for not indulging ....mind you, I do the same, and buy all my own clothes when I'm shopping in Sainsbury's

DD has been up since 5 and is in full meltdown mode. The craft session will either distract or provoke; we shall see

bumble still pukey but seems much happier and the last two nappies have just been wet so things are improving. he is even content to be on his front for longer now!!

coolkat, I hope you are feeling better

yay for ruthos working weeks.

pinky, i hope mimi is feeling better today.

right, shower and off out for the morning, then GPs are taking both DS1 and DD so I can get on and put laundry away.....the wardrobes and drawers are empty!
