lol butterfly, superdaisy eh?
daisy i would tell her that baby is up all night with colic, and u sleep all day so its not a good idea? tell her when it settles u will come and see her, or invite her over then if that fits in??
family is hard to say no to isnt it??

educatingRia · 17/11/2008 23:02

I would try and put them off daisy (in an ideal world of course, in reality they would come and stay at my house), tell them it's too far for one night and the hotels will be full, or something. Family is really not worth suffering over.

storm, I post here, big slim, mental health, and anything that catches my eye, and that depends on whether I've had wine or not

I have only just had chance to sit down tonight, what with the tidying and washing up and everything. My rice pussing went down a treat. baggins had seconds!

I love rice pudding, but it has to be home made, not that tinned Ambrosia rubbish. And I especially love a little ice cream served with my rice pudding. That hot/cold combo is the best!

Had horrible dream about jamlet drowning last night And the night before I dreamt she fell down some stairs (and I woke before I saw if she survived or not, but I know the answer ). Both dreams ended with the same situation, jamlet reaching out to me to save her, and both times I tried to grab her hands to pull her safe, but I couldn't quite reach or she was too slippy and I never quite managed it I don't want her to to go to nursery today now. I want to take the day off work and cuddle her all day. But that's not going to happen unfortunately

educatingRia · 18/11/2008 09:24

jammy. I hate those dreams.

at my pudding typo.

LOL at the dogs bowl butterfly, I think someone once used my grandmas trifle dish as a temporary goldfish bowl

educatingRia · 18/11/2008 09:24

today I have to wash the rice pudding dish...

I am all for pudding but I wouldn't eat one out of the dog's bowl.

Jammy, I had a few dreams like that when pg but nothing since, I really sympathise, it puts a downer on your whole day.

Daisy I would go with the whole "I wouldn't want you to go to all that trouble" approach, plus he's colicky etc you'll come up yourselves when he's settled bla bla

Feeling quite crap here as I had the second night of being awake with a coughing baby. We did manage to get DD to school though, albeit 1/2 an hour late.

Love the tampon decorations.... Sadly my in-laws are coming over from Canada for Xmas, so think I'd better give it a miss this year

I think I've heard that too butterfly.

Now I need to check all the otehr places I might have old cards stashed, before I seal the boxes up. Why does every job you do create another one???

I have the cards I received on my 18th birthday kept in a (labelled) folder, and we have the cards we received when we married stuck into a scrapbook. When I had the big clear out on Sunday, I found that scrapbook in a box, and rehoused it on our (temporary) shelving. As I did so I thought "I know there is one card that never got stuck in here, I wonder where it is?" Then later that evening I cleared out the letter rack and at the back was that orphaned card, so I stuck it in on the last page of the scrapbook. So finally all the cards are safely together It only took me 10 years to sort them all out.

LittleMissNorty · 18/11/2008 12:29

I save my cards as well - my mum gave me all the ones from when I was born in a scrap-book, which I will do with my DCs. Have also kept all wedding ones. With Xmas and birthdays, I only keep family ones though. The ones from family that are no longer here (esp my dad) are very precious now. Each year on her anniversary, my mum puts out the last anniversary card he sent her .

I'm a sentimental thing I'm afraid

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/11/2008 12:43

Apart from my 18th, I haven't kept birthday and Christmas cards, but I do see what you mean about it being nice to have ones from people who are no longer here. I have the cards we were sent when jamlet was born and will probably keep them for her. I was given a keepsake box before she was born, and we have a couple of bits of clothing and her names tags etc from the hospital (and the eye mask she wore when under the lamps treating her jaundice) in it, and some photos and the cards. I will keep it until she is 18 and then she can have it.

We also have the first mother's day, father's day and birthday cards from jamlet to us - still out on display!

educatingRia · 18/11/2008 13:28

I have all our wedding cards in an album, and have kept my 18th & 21st, random cards from parents and sisters, all the cards I found from my Gran, mothers day etc various anniversary cards, valentines cards and a few choice "love letters" (chucked all the rude ones though), kept DHs birthday/xmas cards from me and the boys, and his 40th stuff (plus his balloon)

I have all the boys baby cards, DS1 has scrapbooks (PFB!!!) with them and b'day cards and xmas from family. Plus the best paintings and models from school... I am not very brave when it comes to de-cluttering.

DH said we should do such and such with the photos - thats is a job for a whole other month!!!

of course, I have made things far worse by trying a different system of storing keepskae boxes and photo suitacase, now there is more random crap stuck about in my bedroom. Aargh.

Afternoon

I got a lovely card this morning
Thank you all in advance for whatever boots.com will be delivering

You guys rock, you really do

Went shopping for my sparkly thing today.......will be ready for collection next Wednesday. Tis very sparkly

Good idea about using the colic as an excuse, not wanting to wish the little man ill though

He had another really unsettled night . He was awake and groaning/writhing in pain from 2 am until 4.30. He really makes a horrible noise. So DH and I got two hours sleep each last night. not sure how much more of this I can deal with and still function in the day.

Went looking for inspiration for secret santa today.......and found none

educatingRia · 18/11/2008 16:11

Hi daisy

sparkly sounds good.

Since my last posy I have been up to my eyes in cobwebs making a start on the garage crap (that DH was meant to sorting weeks ago), I'm on a roll now and want to go back out and get in finished, but a) it's dark and b) DH is doing something else now so I'm IC baggins.

I have inspiration for SS, just lacking time and motivation. Tonight I need to do my workout, study a bit and read my SW mag. plus other craft projects in time for Xmas. I know the saying goes, if you want something doing ask a busy person, but how do they fit it all in?

educatingRia · 18/11/2008 16:12

at my terrible typing.

Bumperlicious · 18/11/2008 20:44

Just popping in to say hello, how are you all.

Sputnik, how is baby sputnik's finger?

I have an ambitious idea for SS but not sure if I'm going to get time. I'm sure you all wouldn't mind a large box of choccies and some bubble bath if I don't get round to it!

Jammy I was very at your DH's proclamations re your sanitary wear. I would have shoved my mooncup up DH's arse if he tried that on me. Seriously though, I can understand (if not agree with) his concerns about reusable pad, but what the fuck is wrong with a mooncup? It won't affect him in the slightest. Unless you are like me and ask DH to boil it for you - poor DH, he's long suffering, but I bought him cheesecake home from work today and am giving him a complete evening off everything when I get home tomorrow as he has been really good with the housework and baby stuff the past few days, much better than I ever was!

Norty, how are you feeling my lovely?

Daisy, how's lovely baby, and more importantly do we get to see a picture of the sparkly

Sorry I'm not around very much. Desperately trying to keep up with the writing.

Where are Holly, Fury, who else are we missing?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/11/2008 20:50

Hi Bumper. IKWYM about DH, but I can't get too het up about it. And I make "proclamations" to him too Well done on all your writing and everything else you've been fitting in. And good luck with your SS plan! My SS project is shaping up quite well I think so fingers crossed it keeps on track.

Yeah, we do seem to be a little light on numbers - and it's definitely got very quiet. DH is out at a "company meeting" and I had to do some work to entertain myself. (Had to do it anyway as I worked a short day in the office today) He is meant to be bringing me cake home as a treat for having sorted out jamlet's bath and bedtime all by myself. Yeah, I know it's no biggie really, but hey I might as well milk some cake out of it
