Hello

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Ohforfoxsake · 18/11/2008 20:59

My SS gift will be crafted by Messers Marks and Spencers I suspect

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 18/11/2008 21:20

Hiya Foxy! Are you and your cubs bug free now?

Sputnik · 18/11/2008 21:34

Hey Foxy, have you recovered from your party efforts?

Amazingly, in the course of a week, Baby Sputnik's finger seems to have completely healed, even all the bruising under the nail has just gone and it doesn't seem to bother him at all. It was definitely broken though, I saw the x-ray.

Holly hasn't been around in a while, hope things are ok. Fury has dumped us I reckon.

Sputnik · 18/11/2008 21:36

And, bugger it, I just put 2 children to bed as DH is out, and no one is bringing me any cake, I must me going wrong somewhere

In fact I only just had dinner: 2 leftover fishfingers and potato reheated in the microwave

Shame Sputnik.

I was good, even though it was just me (with DH getting his reheated later) I cooked a proper dinner: chicken & leeks in a mustardy yoghurt sauce, with mashed potatos and sprouts.

LackaDAISYcal · 18/11/2008 21:43

bumper, baby is gorgeous.......during the day

the nightly grizzling is just starting though.

i suspect my SS gift may also be "outsourced"

educatingRia · 18/11/2008 21:48

I have to confess I am watching Ant & Dec (DHs choice actually. I think hope it's because he doesn't usually watch shit like it when he's working), at least it will be something different to talk to DM about. it can't be that funny though cos she hasn't texted me.

I am happliy salsacised, might even do some crafting later...

educatingRia · 18/11/2008 21:52

I suppose I should put this on the SS thread, but as we're all here - I don't mid if my SS gift is "pre-loved" (if it is a suitable sort of gift, no second hand boxers thanks), but do not be afraid, I am not scouring Oxfam for my giftee, I will hand-craft or "out source".

HollyWeen · 18/11/2008 22:04

I'm here...just lurking. Trying to do some research for a debate we are having in my next BFC training tutorial. 'Tis about formula advertising. I am on the pro ads side. I can't think of a reason it shouldn't be banned! My head hurts!

No joy on the dp job front. There just doesn't seem to be anything around. We've spent the past week applying for all the benefits we can (housing benefit, council tax benefit, tax credits, free prescriptions, food vouchers etc.) and it's fucking drained me! Dp has got man flu, which isn't helping and I can just see him slipping into a state of apathy before my very eyes. My car has also decided to give up. It won't start, so we had to get the garage to come and tow it away. They looked at it, told us it is beyond economical repair and towed it back! Now we have no car. It's shit. Things keep going wrong, but I keep laughing. It's quite funny really. I'm just waiting for the next thing to happen...it's like a fun guessing game !

Oh well...how is everyone?

Daisy, hope that scrummy little man is doing well. Give him a sniff from me!!

Bumper, how is the dh job sitch going? Has he started in the library yet?

Ria, is dh's shoulder ok?

I use washable sanitary pads. I don't find tampons comfortable anymore and I can't stand the horrible plastic Always type pads. They just feel awful! I have a couple of these, but the rest of them I've fashioned myself from a pack of nappy inserts that I never got round to using. They work brilliantly, feel really comfortable and I just stick them in the nappy bucket (I dry pail before you go ewwww) and wash them with the nappies. Job done. No-one else knows, there is no mess and no waste. I should grow my armpit hair and start weaving skirts from hay!

Sputnik · 18/11/2008 22:13

Hi Holly
Sorry to hear nothing happening with your DH's job.
Something is bound to go right soon!

Did you ever get to the GP to sort out your undercarriage BTW?

HollyWeen · 18/11/2008 22:21

No, not yet ! I actually phoned to make an appt a couple of weeks ago, but they didn't have anything with a female dr for ages. Then all this happened and I forgot to phone back.

How are you anyway lovely sputnik?

Shit, ds has just woken up and I think he's pooed! Bum!

Bumperlicious · 18/11/2008 22:21

Awww Holly that's shit. I'm sure your DH will find something soon. Will you be able to get by on benefits?

We were entitled to nothing while DH wasn't (isn't working - he hasn't started yet), our tax credits didn't even go up. We are barely surviving on my FT wage, and it won't be much better when DH starts work as we will be swapping 2 of my working days with his, and I get paid more.

OP posts:
HollyWeen · 18/11/2008 22:25

It's bollocks isn't it bumper? They seem to punish people that work. It would seem we will actually be not much worse off on benefits really, in fact we might be better off, but obviously dp wants to work. However, finding a job doesn't seem as simple as it first seemed.

LackaDAISYcal · 18/11/2008 22:26

little man duly sniffed holly

arse about the job situation and i hope something turns up soon.

bumper I take it you are going back to PT when DH starts work? Good that your work are flexible!

right am off to bed. DS2 is fed and is being beaten patted by DH as I type. We have had one mammoth burp, but there are more in there if the groaning is anything to go on. Poor little scone; I wish I could take his pain away

Bumperlicious · 18/11/2008 22:26

I must text fury. I wish she'd come back.

Did I see Ekka around recently or was I making it up?

Andie has abandoned us, she is on the other boards. Where's fairy?

Storm, you were asking where other people post, I post anywhere there is an interesting looking thread. I don't frequent the bfing boards as much as I should any more. I got a lot out of them, but there are always more knowledgeable people around.

Anyway, off to have a shower then bed. See you guys soon

OP posts:
HollyWeen · 18/11/2008 22:31

Bye bumper and daisy. Love you x

I was thinking about fury this morning. Has she moved?

I see andie around a lot when lurking on other threads.

I don't post anywhere except here. I should get involved in bfing threads, but can't be arsed with the agro! Great bfc I'll be !

LackaDAISYcal · 18/11/2008 22:36

I've just sent fury a FB chat message as she is online there!!!

fairy and I are playing the world's longest running continuous scrabble game; she is busy getting the house ready for the market I think.

see andie's name around but never at the same time as I'm logged in.

Have we run out of steam? I'm certainly not posting as often (which isn't a bad thing really), but I miss all the banter . My November lot are lovely, but they're not the same as you guys!

HollyWeen · 18/11/2008 22:41

I bet they don't go AAAARRRSSSEEEE like we do daisy! I have missed you guys over the past week, but I've just had a really busy week, I shall be on more from now on. I don't foresee any more busyness in my schedule!

educatingRia · 18/11/2008 22:53

I'm not quite ready to flounce yet

obviously I would have more time to be a busy person if there was no Mnet, but I NEED you. I am trying to cut down a bit though, in an effort to get more done round the house, and I am trying to exercise more. I will have to study, maybe tomorrow, too. Of course I can always get PG and join an AN thread if I get lonely

Most of the time I only check in because I'm checking the jobcentre site for DH or something. Honest

sorry it's not great for your DP Holly. I SO know how you feel with guessing what will go wrong next. My DH is positive tonight because he went outside with DS2 after school and built a cold frame for the garden (freecycle secondary glazing). He is so much happier "doing". He is in obvious pain though (have just mentioned pain clinic - he is going to make GP appt and get referred. didn't get chance to ask Dsis about it, but it seemed a good time to mention). Is he a rep or is it something else in sales? Sadly it seems very quiet in all areas atm

educatingRia · 18/11/2008 22:58

meant "is your DH a rep"...

I have said to DH that if nothing comes up for him I will look at getting something after christmas, but I will do it through the JC so I find out how much better off we'll be instead of working my arse off two days a week and then finding out the JC will take the pitiful amount I've earnt off DHs JSA. (DM will be away JAn & Feb so I won't feel the disapproval quite so much over the phone)

just seen the moonpig.com ad - was thinking mooncup... Serious question - how do reusable/washable pads stay put? (with no adhesive strip?)

HollyWeen · 18/11/2008 23:00

Is he being all "manly" about the pain and trying to soldier on ria? My dp does that and it drives me mad. He broke his ribs playing football once and it took me days of nagging and watching him wince every time he moved to get him to go and get some painkillers! Hope he gets it sorted soon for both of your sakes.

He is in sales, so not much in the way of employment around atm. He is very experienced and has worked in a variety of industries, so hopefully something will come in soon.

I'm off to bed now. 'Night xxx

HollyWeen · 18/11/2008 23:01

They just do ria. Because they are fabric, not slippery plastic, they don't slide around. The ones I bought have a PUL backing and the have wings that popper underneath.

Really off now xx

will look into those pads tomorrow holly. I do find the plastic uncomfortable but had never considered anything else (just use the cheapy ones without wings).

DH does a lot of "plumber noises" and can't do a lot of things sometimes (nappy changing, bathing baggins etc - sometimes seems too convenient too), but I think he is beyond manly really, and if hurts anything like my sciatica did (which I think it must) then I can see his point. It does get a bit wearing to witness though, but that is not his fault.

goodnight. I am wondering about more choccies and wine so it's time I was upstairs out of harms way (am too idle to come down knowing I have to go back up again to midnight feast)
