evening. Have been lurking but not posting. gosh it's been quiet round here!

Sorry for all the poorly LOs. DS1 has a chest and sinus infection and has cold sores and is really glum today. He's hardly eaten anything all weekend and his breath stinks from being run down.

DS2 had some dentinox this afternoon and has been asleep since he was fed at fiveish . We are usually well into the colicky routine of patting and massaging and pacing by this time. Dare we think it's working? Might we even get some sleep tonight?

butterfly....I post in BFing (where i often see you as well), nappies, chat, mental health, miscarriage, and everything anything else that catches my eye.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/11/2008 20:10

I have promised DH that I won't go "all weird" on him with regards to "feminine hygiene" - basically not to use a mooncup or washable pads. Part of me thinks that WTF has it got to do with him? But part of me thinks he's gone along with me wanting to recycle everything, and composting, and eating less meat, and using washable nappies, and me wanting to use less chemicals and stuff, so I shouldn't push it too far and lose his support on all those other things - basically I should pick my battles. Also, tbh I'm not entirely sure I fancy using washable pads myself. But Once I've used the supply of "always" I have stashed away I will look at getting "greener" pads. And I don't fancy tampons at the moment, which is a shame as I have a load of assorted makes and sizes at the back of my knicker drawer. I might have to get some glue and glitter and make home-made tree decorations like we did as students!

NattyTomAndEllen · 17/11/2008 20:19

hey guys

detinox was a life saver with tom daisy, smells like gerkins tho..

how is everyone??

butterfly, i post in miscarrige, AIBU, post natal april 06, antenatal july 09, real nappies threads... um thats about regualar stuff, i do loads of random threads like x factor lol

sorry everyones DC are poorly, hope they all pick up soon

my children are being naughty naughty naughty! all day long they been up to no good, wrecking the house throwing food and drawing on the walls! they driving me mad lol!!

Sputnik · 17/11/2008 20:22

It was only a one night stand with the wobbly wallpaper

Other than here I post in Little Italy, books, style, food, sleep sometimes, then randomly here and there. Oh and poo. I ocasionally post in bf, but usually I open the thread and see someone else has covered it.

DD hardly ate for 3 days either. But I made pancakes this evening and she seems to have got her appetite back. Not so Baby Sputnik, he's so snotty he can't even bf properly and I'm hoping I don't end up with blocked ducts.

Jamlet actually turned down some food today, which is a very rare occurance, so she must be poorly! She was very snotty so we have karvoled up in her room, and gave her Calpol before bed as she had a bit of a temp. Although she had a much higher temp ages and ages ago when she had an ear infection and we had to take her to casualty, she actually seemed "iller" to me tonight I know it's nothing serious and she will be fine, but poor little thing still.

Sputnik · 17/11/2008 20:50

It has been strange here lately.
Speaking of tampons and crafts, you should all go and take a look here

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2008 20:56

oh, and obviously Nov 08 PN now

DS2 has had another problem free feed (well apart from latching the little beggar angel on!!) and has gone back to sleep. this seems too good to be true.

Has anyone used dentinox to such good effect before?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/11/2008 20:57

We did tampon baubles at university - dip tampons in glue, then glitter, than hang on the tree

My brain misread the captions to one of the photos on that site though - I read "vagina cufflinks" instead of "viagra cufflinks"

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2008 20:58

aha sputnik thanks for that link.....some much needed inspiration for the secret santa

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2008 20:59

DH wants to make the blowgun!

Sputnik · 17/11/2008 21:02

Yes that is so cool with the bandolier and everything

NattyTomAndEllen · 17/11/2008 21:04

yes daisy tom had terrible colic, he was bottlefed tho..
i am assuming ur using the colic drop stuff that smells like gerkins.. not the teething gel??
if not ignore me

LittleMissNorty · 17/11/2008 21:11

I used infacol with DD and already have a small stash ready for this one....she wasn't colicky at all....and fingers crossed this one isn't.

I'm so knackered now....28 weeks in....said to DH something has to give (and it will in 5 weeks when I stop work)....but tbh, I could go back full-time atm and not do the 17 month tantrum bit......give me a newborn any day ...she is sending me nuts!

PS I do love her really, but going to work is so much easier

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2008 21:12

Oh, I have a moral dilemma. My brother and his other half called this evening. They want to come and visit between Christmas and New Year to see the new arrival and have said they will stay in a hotel and will only be here for one night. I can't really think of any reason to put them off, but the thought of having to entertain dear SIL makes me go cold; especially at that time of year. She said that they would bring my DSis and her two boys (which made me think it would be tolerable), and then had the cheek to ask if DSis's boys could stay here so Sis could have a night off (as if three kids including an eight week old baby wasn't enough for me to deal with!!!!). anyway, I talked to my sis who says she can't afford it, and she only has two days off work anyway so won't be coming. I was a bit non-comittal with SIL thankfully, as in "we'll talk to DSis and sort something out", but DH isn't enamoured of the idea (he hates her with a passion after she was rude and offensive to both of us when pissed in the past and the fact that she has ruined every single family occasion we have ever had).

but, how can I say No? Am I just too soft?

and to laugh about it, because she is too much of a lush sensitive soul to drive and my bro hasn't got a full license they will need to avoid motorways all the way here which will take them about 8 or 9 hours!!

LackaDAISYcal · 17/11/2008 21:16

norty, I feel your pain re DD. Mine went on the rampage this evening and was just running round hitting people, tormenting the cat, turning the TV off, climbing into the carrycot (thankfully no baby in it), trying to bite DS, ripping books, and generally not listening to anyone and laughing thinking it was funny and running away. I was busy with the baby so couldn't stop her and DH was out having a cigar!

she got put to bed at quarter to 6 for her troubles though!

lol natty.....yup, the drops. He now has gherkin scented burps

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/11/2008 21:23

It'll be the dill that smells like gherkins. Actually it's the gherkins that smell of dill really...

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 17/11/2008 21:45

jamlet keeps climbing on the audiovisual equipment underneath the TV. Over and over... She thinks it is an hilarious game when I go and remove her.

Sputnik · 17/11/2008 21:53

They are determined little buggers aren't they. Baby Sputnik continues his door obsession, desite the broken finger.

Yesterday we were at a party, it was utter chaos. He kept going to the door and playing with it, including getting whacked in the face. Eventually we strapped him in the pushchair. After about an hour we let him out again... straight back to the door.

NattyTomAndEllen · 17/11/2008 22:01

oh dont, ellens new game is to climb up to her booster seat at the dinning table... and of course once shes up there she wants to get down! and you;ve guessed it, she cant, unless i help her. kids!

DD climbs onto the kitchen table

and stands in the carry cot to get at the shelves.

DH caught her on the top of the chest we have at the top of the stairs, about to skydive down the stairwell. We have had to move the chest but it'll only be a matter of time before she climbs up on the balustrade (it has horizontal spars in it rather than vertical so will make nice footholds)

Wise words Storm......maybe I should just say "No, we are coming up in Feb and we'll see you then"
