Hi all,
It's been ages since I last wrote so it took me a while to catch up on what everybody is up to. We went on holiday to New Zealand (late summer there, lovely!) for three weeks. Before our trip, I was very worried about how Thomas would deal with a 36 hour trip but he was absolutely fine! Our first (12hour) flight was at 10pm so he fell asleep during take-off and didn't wake up until 8 hours later. The rest of the flights he just napped every three hours, like he normally does. Great things, those basinettes. So he behaved much better than anyone could have hoped for. And what's even more impressive is that he didn't suffer from jetag at all. When we arrived there was time for one nap at around 4.30pm and then we woke him up at 6. I felt really bad doing this as he was in a coma but it was worth it. We put him to bed again at 7.30pm and he slept all night. I think we struggled more than him! Now that we're home Thomas seems to struggle a bit more. One morning he woke up at 4, the next at 5 and this morning at 6. Hopefully it will be 7 tomorrow and then everything is back to normal.
It's been fun reading about various babies rocking on all fours. Thomas does that too. He started before our trip but everytime he did so I quickly put him on his bum again as I wanted to postpone any crawling until after our trip. I know, this has probably caused him great developmental delays but I really didn't want to have him crawling all over the airplane. He now likes rocking back and forth, after which he collapses. I haven't put him in his playpen yet but I just might get it out today. It's just not safe anymore to put him on the floor and leave the room. He is also quite good at 'walking' when holding my hands. He seems to have a good idea of putting one foor in front of the other and thinks it's great fun. However, when I park him up against a chair he usually just slides onto the floor.
He loves to eat everything. While on holiday we fed him jars but now that we're back he's enjoying my homemade dinners again. Nice and lumpy. However, his favourite at the moment is apple. I just bite off a piece and give him the rest of the apple. He now has 4 teeth so he manages to scrape off some nice bits and seems really pleased with himself. He also likes to hold a piece of banana and chew on that. Having 4 teeth means he bites off pieces that are a bit too big for him to handle so I sometimes have to come to the rescue, which he doesn't like at all.
Sweetkitty - Thomas also enjoys grinding his teeth - it sounds absolutely horrible! And i completely understand that you would love to go out and hang the washing. While on holiday I really enjoyed hanging the washing to dry in the garden. Isn't it great when silly things like that can make you happy?
On a final note, we too are ttc again but we're not in any hurry. Last time I was quite obsessed with it and this time I would like to just see what happens.
