Oh what a bugger SK. I really hope you find another buyer quickly. Dh is going away for 4 days over this weekend and I'm dreading even that so I can imagine how pissed off you must be at not being able to move with him.

hello all
have been awol for a while too with my mum down for a long visit (she hasn't seen Sam since Christmas so lots to catch up on). the little star is now 8 months and a week and has just had his 6-9 month check - weighed in a whopping 24lb and 6oz. Still in his baby car seat (just!) so must get a new one pronto! He is into everything and moving everywhere - althogh he is getting along fine on his tummy at the moment (wooden floors are so easy to slide on!). He loves being on all fours and can now stick one leg out the back like a ballet dancer - very elegant! Quite a character at the moment too and I think his second tooth is on the way (bottom is v sore and he needs to bit all the time)..Also is refusing to go to sleep right now...so must dash.. love to all!

Xena · 20/04/2005 19:59

Hi all I haven't posted for ages (do you remember me? DD2 July 8th) I've just read through some of the posts and Em sounds fairly average she had her 9mth check and weighed exactly 10kg (22lbs?) could pick up the things that the HV wanted her to etc..
She is a hooligan though, DS says that DD1 was bad but DD2 is worse she pulls everything bangs everything but then grins at everyone which makes the big to laugh.
When she is tired she sings a little Ahh ahh song and today when DD1 was crying she was hanging onto her singing it to her

Xena · 20/04/2005 20:01

makes the big to laugh.
should read 'makes the big 2 laugh'

sasa15 · 20/04/2005 20:39

ds still not happy about having breakfast...

really want the bottle first thing in the morning at 6.30am....

and then he wants something around 10am after nap!

tried all the tricks...nothing works...to make him happy....

let me know if you think of some solutions...

Sponge · 21/04/2005 09:58

Crawling, aaaarrgghhhh.
I used to be able to plonk ds in the middle of the floor and leave him for a bit, with dd keeping en eye, without too much worry.
Now he heads stright for the most dangerous thing in the room - flex on lamp or iron, sharp brass corners on coffee table, stairs and keeps grabbing the heated towel rail and burning his little hands - stupid baby - I mean once or twice OK but when will he learn .
Very cute having a little person scuttling about the floor though.
His second upper middle tooth has finally come through. He's got 6 now so we're having to start trying to teach him not to bite as it hurts quite a bit.

Sasa I wouldn't worry about it too much. If he's drinking his morning milk then he's getting something. If he's not hungry for much more then you can't make him eat. Perhaps just try something light like a yoghurt or a bit of fruit and then another snack after his nap to tide him over till lunchtime. All babies are different and maybe yours just doesn't have a huge appetite and needs more smaller meals. As long as he's healthy and growing it shouldn't be a problem. Try not to get stressed about it.

littlerach · 21/04/2005 10:18

Aren't they at that age now, where you can't turn your back for a minute? Yesterday we found one of DD1's dress up rings in Evie's mouth - terrified me. Luckily she hadn't swallowed it. DD1 is sooo good at tidying up and keeping liitle things away from Evie, she was so upset, bless her! We now have a box in each room for "little things"! And the travel cot is in the lounge!!!

sasa15 · 22/04/2005 09:14

thank you Sponge ...

I'm not worried anymore about it...

just play by hear...

Spacecadet · 22/04/2005 21:18

well Emily is now cruising all over the place, she pulls herself up all the time and dh had to lower the cot base today otherwise she would probably be somersaulting over the top it!! she wakes up at 5(groan) every morning, but sits there happily saying dada, until dh gets up..smirk..my excuse for not getting up to her is shes not calling me!!!

Sponge · 24/04/2005 09:48

Yes we had to lower Harry's cot too when we found him standing up turning the light on and off one morning .

Spacecadet · 24/04/2005 09:55

that made me chuckle sponge, we couldnt understand why emily's cot was full of nappies 3 mornings in a row, until dh actually saw her lean over her cot to the nappy box and grab them

sasa15 · 25/04/2005 08:45

August ds is not moving yet...I mean not crawling..or cruising...nothing....Cot still up...level...

wake up at 6ish...have bottle at 6.30am..very tired wait for 9am nap....

still not breakfast...snack around 10am..

lunch at 12pm...

finally nap 2 hours in the afternoon.....

Sponge · 25/04/2005 10:08

Sasa my dd didn't move at all until she was about 20 months. The she stood up and cruised - never crawled.
Ds on the other hand is on the move big time at 8.5 months. Now he follows me around and when I stop he tries to climb up my leg .

Sponge · 25/04/2005 10:09

Oops, that'll be 10 months not 20. She's not that backward {grin].

Spacecadet · 25/04/2005 22:36

sasa my ds1 didnt do anything, he sat there like a muppet till he was 16 months old, watching the world go by, he was referred all over the place, they informed me he was normal just didnt want to do it, then at 17 months dd1 started school, he lost his servant and started moving around, hes 11 now and plays football for local team etc, heshad speech probs too but you wouldnt know it now, he never shuts up

MrsEvs · 26/04/2005 22:54

Well Phoebe is 9 months tomorrow, can't really believe it. She didn't seem to be doing anything new for a while and then suddenly in the last 3 days she has pulled herself up, got to sitting from lying down, waved, attempted a bit of a clap and even a tiny bit of a cruise (just doing little side steps while holding the couch, but she got about half the length of it so I'm counting it ). She is crawling backwards and has managed to go very briefly forward a couple of times! It's all go!

She also finally ate something that I made her, I think as a result of me buying a baby moulis. She has eaten mash potatoes with carrots and cheese, and pears - hurrah!!!

Downside of all of this though is that she is waking up loads in the night and refusing to go back to sleep unless she is held, so I'm knackered! Oh well, you can't have everything I suppose!

Spacecadet · 27/04/2005 16:05

mrsevs, sympathise with you asem isnt sleeping brilliantly at the mo, ans she will only sleep in the day if in her pushchair.

MrsEvs · 28/04/2005 22:41

Just for back from Phoebe's 9 month appointment. She is healthy and well, 20lbs 8oz which iss around the 80th percentile, but 30 inches long which is off the charts!

What wasn't so good though was after seeing the doctor they sent her for a blood test, which I presumed would just be a heel prick. Instead they strapped her down, put a really tight tourniquet around her arm and did it as you would for an adult! She was howling, turned bright red and her arm all puffed up - I was horrified

She needless to say is already over it, but I'm still distressed!!

littlerach · 29/04/2005 08:29

Goodness, how horrid, I would have been distraught!

OP posts:
Sponge · 29/04/2005 12:38

What the hell for? Neither of mine have ever had a nlood test other than the heel prick tests they do at birth. How horrible, poor you.

Eshay · 29/04/2005 15:35

That's what I was thinking! Did they say why? Thomas just had his 8 month check (at 9.5 months) and the worst the HV did was wriggle his legs to see if his hips were okay.

Eshay · 29/04/2005 15:47

I've been absent for a wee while as we moved house. Thomas did really well. It was good to have my parents here to help pack, move, unpack and clean. At first T didn't really like my mum changing his nappy etc but after a while he seemed to like her just as much as me. We made sure we packed his things last and unpacked them first so he could have a nap in his new room straight away. I had read horror stories about babies suddenly waking at night after a move but fortunately we've been spared.

He's so good at pulling himself up now and you can never leave him anywhere. He'll either try to follow or try to climb up something completely unsuitable. This new phase means that the poor thing has had a bloody lip and several bumps on his head already. And I swear there's a tiny bit of his tooth missing. I feel horrible when he crashes against the wall, the door or simply on the floor but I guess this is a stage they all have to go through to learn.

It's great having a house rather than a flat along a busy high road in London. I do feel a bit lonely every so often though as I don't know anyone here yet. I don't suppose any of you are in Farnborough?

littlerach · 29/04/2005 18:41

Eshay, DD1 chipped her tooth when she was 2, she fell down at nursery and no one realsied untilI brushed her teeth and noticed. At least it's her baby tooth though.

im bemused as to why em hasnt had a 9 month check.

Sponge · 01/05/2005 07:39

Harry hasn't had one either, they've just sent me an appointment for a hearing test but he had one at birth so shouldn't need it. I guess I could just make an appointment with the HV or doctor but I'm not worried about anything. I'll see if one comes through.
