I'm home

TMAM thought of you at about 6am when i saw Nairobi come up on the map

J was brilliant and slept for 6.5hrs out of 7.5. Ella managed 4hrs and is currently tucked up in bed.

Nice to be home and have a decent cuppa and marmite on toast.

Why are you flouncing TMAM?

charleymouse · 23/11/2008 09:53

Thanks everyone,

Thanks for the hug PJ, how is the sleep going?

Cheers Scoot, hope you are feeling better. It will probably turn out you knew her as she used to teach in Chesterfield How is the back and how was Santa?

12YG have been really close to my Nana, she made my beautiful wedding dress and coat for me. She was the one who helped me carry on after B as she had 2 late miscarriages and was the only one (+SIL) who had any comprehension of what I was going through.

Thanks MKG have you decided on name yet?

April thanks for the hug, hope the journey back is better for you.

Thanks MID2 G still wakes up regularly in the night, around 1 ish or 4.30 ish. He does sleep better if he has had more calories in the day though. Cue big bowl of porridge for brekky. Hope the drive wasn't too bad.

Tilly kow exactly what you mean, my mum has this weird money streak as well. Did you get the dress sorted?

Cheers MrsJB the one time you need space and time to get your head round things and you have to get together to sort out everything.

Anne I think she was happy and her mind was fine it was just her body that was pants. I gave her a huge hug on Sunday, we just held each other and cried as G broke a pot she had made and I was mortified and she tried to make me feel better. I always visit on Sundays so feel lost today although I am still visiting today to talk things through with the Minister.

Hey TMAM no flouncing. [wag finger]

Morning Jam, hope you are well.

Wave to SOH who is lurking

Anyway after nearly killing the thread, sorry, I just had to tell you on Friday DH let me have a lie in as was knacked. When I got up he had been cleaning up the kitchen it was a big mess after two nights of no cleaning and workmen in.

He did however clean my HIGH GLOSS cream kitchen with a SCOURING pad

Although he did say it was entirely his fault tis also my fault tho as we shouldn't have had them in the house if he wasn't supposed to use them

I usually only buy the nonstick ones but FIL brought some round for scrubbing grout off the floor tiles so they were in the cleaning stuff cupboard. He has cleaned the gloss off the dishwasher, 2 drawers, another cupboard and scratched the fridge.

He wonders if we should claim on the insurance, I think they will laugh in our face.

Hope you are all well and can have a laugh at my DH. Even though at the time I felt like crying. Have decided it is still cream just some places aren't actually gloss anymore

charleymouse · 23/11/2008 09:56

Welcome back April, glad to hear the journey was better for you. You can't beat a cup of tea in your own house can you?

I think it might be misguided attempts from others to help in Africa by sending in troops is that right TMAM?

charleymouse · 23/11/2008 10:01

Perhaps the person who said people who dismiss conflict just as tribal should actually read what you put TMAM.

TheGreatScootini · 23/11/2008 10:15

Eh?I know we fall out from time to time on here but I dont think its reached tribal conflict levels on the thread yet Dont flounce master.I am emailing you directly!

Welcome back AM..Good going with the sleeping on the plane!

at dh and the scourer. Why do men not know this stuff?

Back feeling better I think.Bit twingy but have dosed up on para codeine and Ibuprofen so TBH it could be broken and I wouldnt notice!Remember to ring if you need..thinking of you..

Well.DH has just departed with the girls.(He is working in Sheffield and Leeds this week so has taken then with him and his Mum will mind them whilst my Mum is out of action and we work)I had been looking forward to having a day and a night (tomorrow after work-They are back on Tues) to myself.Of course I was sobbing as they left and now the house feels too quiet Ive never been here on my own before overnight..(plenty of times without DH obv but not without the girls

We had a lovely day with them yesterday. Both girls were on best behaviour and we went to Lilys friends 3rd birthday party and they both had such a lovely time. They had hired a jo jingles woman, and there was lots of dancing and jelly.Just right.

Think will put on my walking things and go for a snowy walk in the wood.(I never get to go for long walks anymore as M too heavy for the back pack, and L wont stay in the buggy long enough and cant alternativly walk far enough).A good tramp will do me good I think. Then will come back, make some Spanish hot chocolate and watch DVD's.Maybe it wont be soooo bad.

Am I the only one who cant relax when the DC's are travelling anywhere though?I will feel really nervous till they call to say they have got their OK.I am becoming a worrier.I am turning into my Mother!

Humph.Have just looked out of the window. Is now sithing it down with rain.Maybe will just ditch the walk then.

Aprilmeadow · 23/11/2008 10:39

Dont ditch the Spanish Hot Chox tho
Fingers crossed that your back is on the mend. How lovely to have some you time

Charley i hope today goes ok with the minister and you can seek some comfort from him whilst making sure that your Nana has the send off she deserves. When my maternal grandmother died (10yrs ago) my grandpa didnt call it a funeral, he called it a Thanksgiving Service to Celebrate the life of Joan 'Grandma'. The hymn sheets were on a marigold colour paper and the whole day, whilst very sad, was all about remembering what a wonderful lady she was. My Mums parents are heavily envolved in the church and the whole day just fitted with how grandma was. When my Grandad (dad's dad) died last December he had a Royal Marines send off and had a bugel player and men holding flags (cant remember the correct name) and that was also lovely as he was very proud of being a Marine. I'm sure that whatever you decide upon will be what your Nana would have wanted. Still sending lots of hugs your way xx

TheGreatScootini · 23/11/2008 11:07

It is still raining.I have got back into bed.I will watch Country file instead of going into the actual country. This seems a good compromise!

Thats lovely about the thanskgiving service instead of the traditional funeral.I think I will have one of those when I die.(not that anyone would have anything to be thankful for.I dont do that much

Aprilmeadow · 23/11/2008 17:56

Seem to have my 2nd wind now as was really struggling earlier. Have only managed to unpack one case and have lost the will to live. Am sorting through the kids clothes that no longer fit and just found a cupboard of stuff that i have been storing for about a yr! Have also sorted through the kitchen cupboards that are full of crap.

Ella and dh have crashed on the sofa. Not bad considering E only had 6hours sleep!

Aprilmeadow · 23/11/2008 18:39
anneme · 23/11/2008 22:44

CM - hope today has gone well and that the minister was helpful and supportive.
Scoots - you do LOTS AND you are an important part of this thread (I know that is rich coming from me when I have been awol for ages but it was lovely coming back and seeing all the old names (as opposed to faces!))
AM - I always have to have marmite when I return from holiday!
TMAM will email now

BIG QUESTIOM - what are you getting your LOs for Christmas - I have lots of ideas for DS1 aged 5 but poor S looks like he might be getting a big kiss from me and that is it!!!

charleymouse · 24/11/2008 01:06

Hope you don't feel too lonely Scoot, how was the hot choc and country file?

April and Anne the minister was very nice and it was nice to talk about my Nana and what she was like. It was not so good going into her bedroom tho as it smelt just like her.

Have been typing up the order of service for her to ensure the right verses of the hymns are sung. Bless her she had it all written down, she had even written her own obituary and left gaps for the dates. Have added in "peacefully at home" to it though, hope that will be okay for her.

SOH have seen you, are you okay?

largeginandtonic · 24/11/2008 08:17

Morning all

TMAM whats up?

April see you on the 3rd!!!

CM glad you can organise the service as your Nana would like it. It is a morbid thing but saying what you want to happen is so important i think. Lots of love to you and a little at your gorgeous cream not so high gloss work tops

Scoot hope you enjoyed the peace!I would have gone to bed too with box of choc and dvds. Just what you need atm

I have a miserable cold, been ill all weekend. I feel so uncomfortable just like those 2-3 last few weeks. It is making me nervous. Just for fun the baby decided to throw up last night so it was a bath at 3am... i am so tired. I just cant catch up.

Must go and dress the boy and shout at the others. Blardy school run.

Aprilmeadow · 24/11/2008 10:58

Morning all. The Meadow family have only just woken up! Ella went to bed at 5pm and woke at 10.30AM that's 17.5hrs!! Jack did 14.5hrs and we did 12.5hrs. Not sure if i fell better for it as it means i only have 2hrs before they go to nursery and 3 before dreaded college. Could really do with today being Sunday.

Charley am glad that it went well with the minister yesterday. My Grandad planned his funeral and i think that helped my Dad (only child and my Nanna died in 1992) in knowing that he was doing what G'dad wanted. Hymns had been picked that we special to him, like one that he had on his wedding day and hymn that was special to the Royal Marines (something to with waves).

Anneme, i gues it must be harder when you have 2 boys as you will have most of the stuff that S would play with already. Ella has got some Baby Annabel things (pram, highchair and playmat) that i bought off of ebay and saved a fortune. She also has Iggle Piggle and Makka Pakka cuddly toys. I have also bought things (and given them to my dad to give to them) like Fisher Price Little People sets: Airport, Circus, Noahs Ark etc. They are great fun and all the little people/animals can work with all the sets. It would be good as a big present as they are about £25-£35 a set. I found mine new on ebay and got them for under £20 inc postage and also Woolworths tend to have them on offer as well as the toy shop The Entertainer. I was able to get a set for J and for E and i know they will play nicely together and share....

How exciting, will see you on the 3rd LG&T . Will get to cuddle B and not have to worry about what mine are up to as they will be in nusery.

Pink, MrsJB, JAM, Scoot etc etc How was your weekend?

Themasterandmargaritas · 24/11/2008 11:07

I texted you back last night April did you get it?

Yes Charley you are spot on. Sometimes people just don't want to know or listen to the facts just blindly follow each other like lemmings. So I may take a break for a while as it means I have become quite sad to be angry about what a group of strangers in the UK are doing about an african crisis they clearly understand nothing about.

I am glad the meeting with the minister went well. I know what you mean about the room smelling of her, perhaps you could keep the bottle of her perfume to remind you of your happy times together?

Man up LG&T Just joking love, put your feet up when you can.

Hi all

CM, sorry to hear about your nana. And that your mum's response is to take out her grief on you.

MKG · 24/11/2008 12:55

Morning all. I can't stay long as I have to get ready for work, and all the other exciting crap I do. Just wanted to pop my head in and say it's really cold, and that Mateo finally pooped on the potty this weekend. He's so big right now I can't stand it.

TheGreatScootini · 24/11/2008 18:02

Master. You will not flounce.I wont accept it.

17.5 Hours? Its the stuff dreams are made of.Hope you make it through college AM

Well done Mateo!

Its funny how its the little things that get you Charley..I remember seeing My Nans bobby pins in a dish after she died and that was it, I was in bits!Give me a ring if you need..Glad it went well with the minister..

I went for my walk in the end.I stayed out for 3 hours and it was lovely and very cathartic to walk in peace and not have to carry anyone or push the buggy. And I saw 3 dear! Then I had to come back because my back was murder. After that I watched telly for 6 hours and ate chocolates Was lovely!

Whats happening on the 3rd?>>wanders off mumbling about being always left out of thingshands a mug of Spanish hot choc to gin

TheGreatScootini · 24/11/2008 20:30

Have just seen on another thread about Baby Loves Disco. There is one in Jan in London.I am very excited!Does anyone want to come with?
There is a bar at it.PJ you can stay at mine if you want to bring Lexie.
I am a bit over excited. The girls will love it.I will love it!!

anneme · 24/11/2008 20:58

poor you lg&t - I had similar experience on Sat night. Fed S and was giving him a cuddle before putting him in his cot when he was sick down my back. Changed our bedding, his clothes, my clothes, had a shower, washed my hair - and all 15 mins before some friends came round for supper....the glamour of motherhood.
hope you are feeling better

charleymouse · 25/11/2008 15:43

LG&T got things sorted, sorry to hear about the sick, hope you are all feeling better now. I can?t believe DH did it, hes literally scrubbed the units bare.

Well done on the sleep April, have been managing to get G down earlier each night, DD however is another matter. Nice to know we are doing the right thing by Nana, have told DH what I want at my funeral today just to keep on a cheery note . We love little people here as well, we have the airport, zoo stuff, Noahs ark, roller coaster plus some misc figures.

TMAM glad to see you have not flounced. Did you get a sudden flurry of Secret Santas?

Thanks Elkie, how you doing?

Hooray MKG go Mateo go Mateo!

Hi Scoot glad you had a nice ?walk?telly choc fest. It is daft isn?t it the things that set us off. Did you strip? How sweet is L? Aaah.

Anne don?t you just love sick? I hate it when it gets in your/their hair. Ooh the smell. Don?t forget the glamour of snot on your shoulder as well .

Hello everyone hope you are all well.

charleymouse · 25/11/2008 16:07

Just checking whether people are not posting on here as I am a miserable sod. Please feel free to be as frivolous and hilarious as normal as this is what helps me get on with life.

Or perhaps I am billy no mates and you are all off gossiping on facebook.

Oh god just read above and thought "it's all about me isn't it."

Please realise I don't think that and appreciate you probably have some of that, what do you call it? You know; what's the word I'm looking for? Oh shucks I know some of you have it, I've heard about it read about it somewhere I'm sure I did.

Oh real life that's it

MmeJaffa1ofyour5aday · 25/11/2008 17:16

CM, you are not miserable...... we are nearing the end of the thread, everyones done a runner cause they don't want to be the one to have to think of a new witty title. Thats my excuse anyway!!

RL, oh I have one of those, it has taken over again... I'm begining to panic, A has NO work in Decemeber yet! It's no good for my state of mind! Anyone need any home improvements? Why do the expats all stop having work done in the winter! They all go into hiding!

TheGreatScootini · 25/11/2008 18:14

Have started anew
