Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SalLikesCoffee · 29/09/2008 16:03

Rofl. Ok, no, you're officially a disaster on legs on your first day!

Thanks for the reassurance re R btw. I did have a little chuckle at dh who is living on another planet - I called to tell him, and he wanted me to rush to a&e so that they could give him a brain scan. Hehehe, yeah right, I'll persuade them that the smiley, hungry baby in my arms need an immediate brain scan...

Soph73 · 29/09/2008 16:06

Sal - sounds like he´s OK if he was crying.
Peachy - actually I agree with Sal, don´t work Now wouldn´t that be lovely.

Soph73 · 29/09/2008 16:12

Sorry Sal, that sounded a bit blunt Didn´t mean to be. LOL at your DH, mine would probably be the same

SalLikesCoffee · 29/09/2008 16:19

Oh don't be silly, didn't sound blunt. Obviously I only joked too

SalLikesCoffee · 29/09/2008 16:25

We never used to plan that far ahead, but talked about next year's holiday last night. We both had all these brilliant ideas of places we'd like to visit etc etc, until we realised we can't actually afford it anymore. I do realise how childish this is, but I'm rather disappointed. I hate package holidays with a passion, so that's out too. Ooooh weeeell. Looked at Lithuania in the end - cheap flights, not overly touristy yet, can drive around, looks very interesting.

Peachy · 29/09/2008 16:27

We're ooking at france- first time abroad for the boys if we go, so we'll be spending most of the budget on 6 passports!

Peachy · 29/09/2008 16:28

'ooking'- sonds like someting a Librarian in a Pratchett novel might say

(obscure ref alert!)

SalLikesCoffee · 29/09/2008 16:39

lol peachy, was just thinking the same re TP novel.

It really is annoying if you're spending so much before you even have your feet out the door, isn't it?! France sounds lovely, I'd love to do a proper French holiday as well (have only been to Paris).

Soph73 · 29/09/2008 16:46

We´d love to go somewhere other than back to England for our hols, but just can´t afford it. We sit on our patio with a glass of wine pretending we´re somewhere different Going through all these places we´d some day love to visit We just keep having to remind ourselves that we live in a place where people come on hol (LOL) Anyway, time to go, see you all tomorrow xxxxxxx

SalLikesCoffee · 29/09/2008 16:49

Glass of wine on patio sounds wonderful!!! Am rather jealous now!

MommyHasaHeadache · 29/09/2008 18:15

Hello all - lots of catching up to do! Been busy gyming, swimming and at my mom and baby groups! Really enjoying the gym and swimming - surprised myself really - am fitter than I thought I was! Don't know how that came to be! All that walking I did when I was pregnant must have really worked! Gigi starts her swimming classes next monday - can't wait! I really hope she enjoys it! I loved (and still do) swimming when I was growing up - swam for my county and school. Kinda lost it now but I can still swim about 50 lenghts in one session.

We are also talking about Christening - thinking about doing it in March next year though as Gigi's Godmother lives in Oz and wants to come out for it - so giving her a bit of time. I LOVE this gown - so pretty. But it will be winter so I am thinking this coat to go over and these little boots. Not sure if these go with the dress though. My mom is also looking at patterns for long sleeved christening gowns. We are also going to have a dedication for her at DH's mom's church in SA (so she doesn't feel left out as we are having the christening here in the UK) when we go end Jan.

We are looking at going away again too before the end of the year - thinking of going to Stuttgart and it's Christmas markets, or to the Romantic Road. Decisions, decisions.

Hope little R is okay Sal? I know nothing about falls, so won't say anything more.

LadyBee - I hope BabyBee does continue to settle himself to sleep. Gigi had a week of doing that, but then reverted back to what she normally. Sigh. It was nice while it lasted! Hopefully BabyBee keeps doing what he is doing!!

I will have been with my DH for 10 years next Sept (and married for 5). He is from SA too - but we met here - although we should have met in SA as we have a few friends in common and in fact worked out that we even attended some of the same parties and bbqs! Destined to meet is what I think!

It really is used to be Sal. I am nothing like I was. I was a runner too. Now I can't even run around the block!

This is the coat. Hope this works!

SalLikesCoffee · 29/09/2008 19:19

That's beautiful, I love it!

LadyBee · 29/09/2008 21:03

I was hoping it was that coat MommyHAH, it's very sweet

Sal, you must have had such a shock after falling, I'm still so paranoid every time I go down our stairs. Sounds like R is ok though? Hope you didn't hurt yourself too.

We went to the British Museum today with a friend, but it was all a bit fraught, DS was pretty good but even a few squeals echo and sound extra loud there and my friend's baby was a bit fractious..cue lots of old ladies looking concerned and us both trying to get around the exhibition in double-quick time while still attempting to look calm and in control . Oh well nothing ventured nothing gained.

yum yum, DP has just shown me a shepherd's pie he has made for dinner, looks superb. Better get off here and look suitably ready to eat it.

SalLikesCoffee · 29/09/2008 21:21

British Museum - impressive. I love going, but haven't done any museums / galleries (except for a quick pop in to National Gallery, but that was more because I wanted to go to their gift shop) post-baby.

I think R is officially fine, he's sleeping ok now. I had such a fright that I didn't really notice, but I've just had a bath and both my knees are grazed and my shoulder is turning blue, hehe. I think I hit the ground with my shoulder as I turned to keep R in the air. What a moron, he could have been seriously hurt.

Am shattered, off to be now. Night all.

EllieG · 29/09/2008 21:49

Hey all - God I am officially rubbish at MNing these days - don't know where the time goes. Think is cos I keep forgetting to get braodband, and by the time have sorted out dial up connection she's always awake or needing something!

But hello anyway. Am now exhausted by reading pages of posts, but have caught up. Am glad everyone is well and all babies good.

Can someone point me in the direction of that babylead weaning site please? I know has been on here before but too lazy to hunt. Am starting to think about weaning issues as 26 weeks coming on fast and have made lots of little meals for the freezer in fit of most-unlike-me organisation. Don't know what came over me tbh, but sure it won't last so ain't too worried.

SalLikesCoffee · 29/09/2008 22:01

Hi Ellie. BLW here

EllieG · 29/09/2008 22:34

Ta muchly sal

PortAndLemon · 30/09/2008 00:08

Have been kicking off BLW properly the last couple of days (as DD turned 26 weeks on Sunday). So far: broccoli, green beans, toast, and cheese. Have had to get used to the scary-looking gagging thing, but it's true -- they really do just gag a bit, bring the food forward in their mouth, and then either spit it out or have another go at it. She's swallowed a tiny bit of something (I think it was the toast).

VictorianSqualor · 30/09/2008 09:44

Hey everyone.
Alex has TWO teeth. No wonder he has been screaming so much the last few days, I noticed one had cut through yesterday and then saw another this morning, both his bottom fronts.

He has had a little BLW forced upon him by DS1 I found him sucking on some toast the other morning but I don't think he ate any of it. He has also been using carrot sticks (raw though so too hard for him to actually eat) as a teether which he seems to really like. BLW won't be long as DS2 is 24 weeks today.

Sal, don't fret about R, I'm sure he is fine, A has fallen off the bed and even out of his buggy onto DS1 who had fallen on the floor after tipping the buggy up. He's been fine both times.

OP posts:
Soph73 · 30/09/2008 11:17

Morning all. Great to hear from you Ellie. VS - I think Sam´s about to start teething as he´s very dribbly, has got a spotty face and keeps chewing on his thumb and the teats of his bottles.

SalLikesCoffee · 30/09/2008 13:38

Cool re A's teeth! Such a relief when they eventually come through and they seem to feel better immediately, isn't it?!

Thanks for the reassurance re R as well VS. He seems fine today, which is such a relief. Wow, so I guess this is parenthood now - indescribable love and happiness combined with constant worry and guilt.

Soph, hope Sam's teeth makes their appearance soon.

Hmm, R just woke up, chat in a bit.

Soph73 · 30/09/2008 14:42

Sal - yep, that just about sums it up nicely (re parenthood)
Just had an email from my favourite auntie and she´s coming out to see us in a couple of weeks - can´t wait. It´s a bummer that we´ve got to work but it´ll still be nice, haven´t seen her for over a year.

Soph73 · 30/09/2008 14:45

My DH is off on a field trip on 21 Oct for 4 nights with Year 9 (always a joy - ha, ha) so my auntie will be around that night to help me with the boys then my friend´s coming to stay and help. Although I´m sure I´d cope on my own with the 2 boys, it´s just easier when there´s someone else around. Afternoon´s aren´t so bad, but trying to make sure I´ve got everything ready before we leave the house at 7.30am is a bit of a struggle some times!
