When do u think u will be going? Will be great to get out of the British climate (all aspects at the mo) wont it.

Sicky - ? low blood sugars during the night could u put a couple of biscuits where u feed to nibble on?

LadyBee · 28/09/2008 22:31

oh, and also...does anyone else feel like they have 'empty' days? Sometimes it feels like DS has to suck forever before he gets into the big gulping drinking, and there have been a few days recently where I haven't felt like he's got there on any of the feeds. Is my let-down not letting down on those days d'you think? And why would it do that? Poor old babybee gets very frustrated

LadyBee · 28/09/2008 22:33

hello

Probably November, so yes, very nice to get away from some grey and into a bit of early summer, although NZ at that time is a bit variable tbh.

hmmm, will try stashing a drink and couple of biscuits there tonight and see whether that helps.

SalLikesCoffee · 28/09/2008 22:37

Hmm, Denny, not sure if the scales are accurate, as I refuse to weigh myself (even though I do actually own bathroom scales I ignore them and hide them under, well, stuff). This is clearly a case of denial. I looked at photos today of me painting the hallway about 2 weeks before R was born. And - I was skinnier then than now!!!
So from tomorrow I am going for an hour's walk with R through the park every single day, and will try doing Wii Fit as well on a daily basis. R cracks up if I jump up and down - guess laugh is all you can do if you've got a madwoman for a mom, hehe.

Re SA - yes, will we quite busy, so we've decided to spend a couple of days on our own (with R, but without family) to avoid being absolutely knackered when we return. R's Christening is on the 16th. My sister is being brilliant in sorting out all the advance arrangements for us, so basically we just have to pitch up and help with last-minute things. My mom's making us this cake

Ladybee - oh wonderful!!! No knowledge, just wild guess here, but could it by any chance be your blood sugar levels falling? That always made me feel a bit nauseous.

Denny185 · 28/09/2008 22:38

Not sure about the long sucking thing, I do have days when I feel emptier - tends to depend on how long DD2 feeds 4 first thing, if she has a shorter feed I feel fuller for the rest of the day - almost like I cant get rid of what she hasnt taken IYSWIM. Def feel emptier at the end of the day.

V of you escaping in Nov. If we didnt have family I would def consider emigrating, weve previously talked about Canada. I would miss my mum too much though.

SalLikesCoffee · 28/09/2008 22:41

x-post there, I should type faster!

I've stopped breastfeeding completely now, so don't know, sorry Ladybee.

Re low blood sugar - try not to eat anything high in sugar just before you go to bed or as your night-time snacks, because your sugar levels will then peak and fall very quickly. Basically anything that's recommended for a diabetic diet should keep it even.

Denny185 · 28/09/2008 22:43

Blimey is your mum a bit nifty in the old cake making department then, thats lovely.

The scales on ours are 3 1/2 stone out, too light - if I weighed that much I wouldnt be exercising. Loving the ski jump, step and boxercise but my balance is amazingly crap on some of the yoga and strengthening ones - blaming it on repeatedly twisting ankles as child, nothing to do with crap central muscles

LadyBee · 28/09/2008 22:46

Sal, did you decide on a christening robe yet? Because for some random reason I have found myself on this website and thought this one looked quite nice for a boy...and possible future girls as well

Denny185 · 28/09/2008 22:46

Wish i could stop some of the feeding A still wont take a bottle, have just ordered a boob shaped one as last ditched attempt B4 some tough love. Would like to drop down to morning and evening feed only after 6 months.

LadyBee · 28/09/2008 22:58

I was talking to DP about what to do when DS starts on food as well, as I still can't decide whether to start introducing formula then or just continue on. Was asking my mum how long she continued for and she said for each of us (three) she fed until we started biting a bit too regularly and then swapped over. I definitely haven't been expressing anywhere near as much as I used to, so will be running down my stored EBM quite quickly with a few nights/mornings out...and I think we'll need to have formula when I start back working. Oh I don't know...I expect one day I'll make a decision one way or another.

Denny could you just move to a cup? Skip bottles altogether?

SalLikesCoffee · 28/09/2008 23:00

Ooh yes Ladybee, I like that one too (minus the little hat for a boy), thanks for link. I haven't decided yet, as dh and I are... uhm, well, let's say not in agreement on it. He feels strongly that he's too old for a gown now, I don't. Battle of the wills commence I'll keep that one saved as an option, because I'm looking for something plain and pure like that. My mom's going to make it for us (Denny, yes - she's great, heaven knows how I missed out on all the skills!!!), and she's already bought raw silk for it, so now just to decide on pattern.

Lol at Denny's boob shaped bottle!

LadyBee · 28/09/2008 23:19

I was trying to imagine DS in the robe and think it would still be fine - especially as your mum already has the silk.

Good point regarding the sugary stuff..I wouldn't be surprised if my blood sugar was all over the show anyway, with my lack of self-control when it comes to puddings/chocolate etc. Maybe I need to get some muesli bars or something.

right, am off to bed..night ladies

SalLikesCoffee · 28/09/2008 23:30

Right, I'm telling dh you're on my side too

I should really go to bed now too, so good night - may it be long and quiet for all.

VictorianSqualor · 29/09/2008 10:04

I'm on your side with the robe too Sal. I thought I'd be able to get DP's mum and the baptism lady (at our church you have a special nominated person from the church to guide you through everything) to talk DP into the gown but both were against it
Next time I'm getting the baby baptised at a week old. I will have a gown

Knitter, what is MiL like with you? Do you think it could be that she sees G as your baby rather than her son's? Might it be possible to go out and leave DH with them and G? You could always set up a webcam and watch them from somewhere

OP posts:
SalLikesCoffee · 29/09/2008 10:39

Thanks VS! Great, I'll win this one over with numbers now Lol at next time's gown.

I've just finished off a mountain load of dishes and pots and pans (was too lazy last night ). I need my dishwasher back!!! [sulks / throws tantrum] [repeat] Hmm, my search for the morning: specials on dishwashers. Tbh I think it's only a fuse or something that went in this one and now it's programming is confused - will only rinse. Repeatedly. But it's quite old anyway (came with the flat, and we've lived here for about 6 years now), so if I can find a cheap new one we might as well do that instead of spending £50 or whatever on something that needs replacement soon anyway. Or that's my excuse anyway

Peachy · 29/09/2008 11:03

Bas is having a robe- assuming he doesn't grow out of it forst (good chance way he's growing.... can see emergency run to John Lewis!).
Nicer to hand down to him I think; I amde ds2 a robe (but blue dupion so not girly), ds1 had a romper set and ds3 tweed knickerbockers and shirt (was a naming ceremony on his first birthday)- but no good if they have daughters are they? Which was the idea: one to pass on to each.

Denny- feel your pain! Given up on bottles here- Bas screams on site! Tying cups, and Mum will have a go today (its the tenth anniversary of meeting so an excuse for a babysitter). Not holding my breath though- damnations! We had 7 feeds Saturday night; would love to sleep sometime!

SalLikesCoffee · 29/09/2008 11:53

Peachy, is today 10th anniversary of meeting your dh? If so, congratulations, and wow - how romantic of you two to remember! I'm quite rubbish with this and keeps forgetting how long we've been married (hmm, either 4 or 5 yrs - have to check with dh ). On knowing him, heaven knows, I think I met him when I was 3 years old, lol.

VictorianSqualor · 29/09/2008 13:45

Anyone in london want to see dirty dancing for free tomorrow night?

OP posts:
Soph73 · 29/09/2008 15:27

Afternoon all. Silly computer acting up again Knitter - my Dad actually said to me "Sam will probably be starting school before I get to see him." This from a man who gets free flights anywhere in the world. However, he was useless with me and my brother so what can I expect. I do have to take deep breaths though, especially as he´s not hard up. Poor MIL struggles to save up to come and see us.

Soph73 · 29/09/2008 15:31

Peachy - congrats on your anniversary
LadyBee - hope LO is still sleeping well for you
Was very proud of Sam this morning (physio) as he can hold his head up independently for a good couple of minutes now. He gets very frustrated though as he desperately wants to get going by himself

Peachy · 29/09/2008 15:40

Soph- sounds like a determined chap! If he wants to be away he will be, my kids constantly amaze me with what they can do; ds3 shouldnt be talking but seems to improve daily.

Sal- its easy to remember as met DH first day in my job LOL. I really shouldnt work as first days have coincided with:

9/11

meeting DH (although obv at work, there were several hundred times we could have met before and didnt)

My nan's death

DH being made redundant

scary huh?

SalLikesCoffee · 29/09/2008 15:54

Well done Sam!

Peachy, (excluding meeting dh, which must be a good thing!) - I think for the safety of all around you you shouldn't work, lol.

I am furious with myself. I fell with Roelof this morning. I had him in my arms and the phone rang, so I ran to pick it up, tripped and fell. I managed to move him out of the way and basically dived to the ground - I don't think he hit his head, but he did cry. Only about 2 minutes when I consoled him, and he's since played and laughed and everything, so I'm trying to persuade myself he's fine. Obviously no more running with him in my arms, but I can kick myself. Am watching him closely, but at least he seems fine.

SalLikesCoffee · 29/09/2008 15:55

Hmm, or maybe call in sick on your first day and start full-out on the second!

Peachy · 29/09/2008 15:59

Sal if he cried then chnaces are he's OK- its when they dont that you should worry I think, although obv best to keep an eye anyway.

Like to think meeting DH was a good day LOL (not sure it was for the bloke who thught i'd be marrying him a few months later- oops eeek- let's just say I had me Reasons. with a capital R).

Soph73 · 29/09/2008 16:00

Peachy - he definitely is. It´s great isn´t it when they do things earlier than the professionals expect
Maybe it´s time to stick to one office Can´t forget first day I met DH as it was my brother´s 18th
