Pixel, is Emma a bit shy? My two are in groups of people, but go mental when they know people. She'll get used to it! As long as one of you is enjoying it!!

CB that's great about the P&T, and bargain too. A lot of second hand ones go on eBay for nearly the full price, so well done you. I still love ours, even when they both walk. What colour did you get!?

Flick, hope you ahve a better night tonight!

AnnieAreYouOkAreYouOkAnnie · 19/08/2008 15:12

CB, hang on a second? You're not due in 7 weeks are you? That's way too quick. Is it maternity leave? Or are you leaving forever?
x

PixelHerder · 19/08/2008 15:28

Annie - yes she is shy, always clams up when she first sees people, even when she knows them well. She's like a different child once she gets going though, very happy and chatty. She just hasn't got to that point with the toddler groups though I guess.

Ceebee, here's hoping the 7 weeks fly by! That is mat leave you mean isn't it? When's your due date again? So exciting!

RhinestoneCowgirl · 19/08/2008 15:41

Go Mimi .

DS is also back to sleeping after last week's lurgy, he is also usually much easier to settle if he does wake. This morning instead of yelling I was woken by a polite little 'mummee? mummee? out?', quite sweet really.

We don't get a 2-yr check round here (cutbacks), just a letter saying here's a list of things they should be doing, give us a call if you're worried . Mind you we have weighed and measured him at home and he is around 50th centile for height and 98th for weight . I daren't take him to see HV now for fear of being told I have a fat child...

ceebee74 · 19/08/2008 15:50

Pixel - Josh can be shy around strangers but soon comes round - for example, we went to my parents on Sunday and my aunty was there who he has only seen maybe twice before. He was very quiet at first but was soon being his usual cheeky self - so I think they are all like that.

Lol at being due in 7 weeks - no chance (although starting to think the sooner the better - I can't wait!) That is when I am starting my 'wind-down' at work - am going to work 2 days for 3 weeks before leaving completely but as far as I am concerned, those 3 weeks don't really count Due date is not until 26 November so am about 26 weeks pg now. I will be going back though but not until middle of Sept 2009 so am going to have much longer this time round than I did with Josh (not that the fact that I will get the whole of next summer off has influenced my decision of course ).

thefortbuilder · 19/08/2008 19:30

edll our big news today is that jacob used the potty as well as the toilet!!

and i'm not dry - white wine and sushi for lunch and then big glass of red wine this afternoon with another old fridnd - drinking on tuesday, i can't believe it

nothing else to report

OP posts:
TheGoddessBlossom · 19/08/2008 20:48

thanks for all lovely comments about my mum folks, you are all so supportive. No she doesn't live far away, 1.5 minutes drive away in fact! Which makes it sadder really as it would be great if she were more involved with the kids but she couldn't cope. I feel very disloyal saying this but I look at friend's mums who all muck in so much with their kids, having them to tea, collecting them from nursery, taking them on days out etc. My parents have never done that with mine.

Had a super cool day today. Went for a run this morning, well more like a stumble, pant and nearly puke, but need a change from swimming. Back to the pool tomorrow methinks. Then met a friend and we went to the cinema! In the afternoon! How decadent is that? We saw The Dark Knight and it was truly superb, such a cool film, I cannot believe it is a 12 though, no way my boys are going anyway near it till they are 40! Very violent. Heath Ledger was amazing in it. Then picked up boys and hooned it to a friend's little girl's birthday party, my boys are so tired.

Toby got stung by a wasp at nursery today! He didn't even cry apparently, which is amazing as he absolutely loathes bees/wasps and cries if he even sees one usually.

Annie, lol at you saying "they go in their pants anyway" !

Being dry is soooooo boring. And I can't even eat all my usual bikkies with my cuppa tonight as I ate a pound of pic n' mix.......

Other exciting news - applied for a VERY cool job online the other day and it looks like I have a telephone interview....had a message on my mobile when I came out of the movies....more details when I have them....

To Be Continued........

Love to al.

Bloss

ImpyChica · 19/08/2008 21:22

Hi all

Super busy here - M&D are over helping with Ry, DP is in Paris again (sure he's got some sophisticated mademoiselle he's visiting rather than so called 'work'!), and my whole department is off at work - so I'm virtually running it single-handed, which is a tad looney on their part for trusting me.... anyways...

Sorry about your mum, too, Bloss. I often moan about not have family anywhere near us, but at least both sets of parents are willing to come over frequently to help out. Must be awful for you. Has she deteiorated (sp?) over the years or has she always had problems? Is there nothing that can be done? So sad.... Good news on the job front anyway. All finger's crossed.

KBaby - back to your question from ages ago - we initially chose Barcelona but found jobs in Madrid much more easily... Latin America was too far away and since we both spoke Spanish, Spain seemed an obvious choice...

Have you been to Paris already Bead? So romantic of you!!! I refused to go up the Eiffel Tower with DP in case he decided he would have to propose !

With you on the Big Lebowski Spin - I loves it! Also want to see the Dark Knight, Bloss. Sounds like it's Heath's film...

Hurrah on Mimi's sleeping Annie! Long may it last! I don't know how you've managed all this time! Poor thing. Ry has been so worn out by his grandparents of late that he's been sleeping in till 8.30 ! But of course he'll decide 6am is a better time to wake up when we're on holiday next week in Portugal, I bet! Least we'll be with both sets of grandparents (and my brother and DP's sister) so we can dump him on them!

Great on the 'wind-down' CB! And fab maternity leave! Only get 4 months in Spain (see, it does have it's down side!). Glad you got the buggy sorted.

Dom sounds adorable, Rhinestone. Ry's a bit like that too in the mornings now rather than being so hungry he can't do anything but cry! He was showing me all his cot toys this morning and being v cute...

V impressed with Jacob, Flick! Ry's potty-training has gone out of the window after my m-in-law's good work - my mum says she can't be bothered having trained all her three!

Hope the rain eases off HC! The building work in my parent's garden in Lincolnshire has been abandoned cos of three weeks of rain!

Well, not sure if I'll get on again before we go away.... so will be back in touch in September.... love to all. Impy xxx

thefortbuilder · 20/08/2008 11:07

i wouldn't be too impressed impy! a poo accident for the first time today (how do you get poo out of pants...) and a pee accident but still better than not overall!

not much else to report here - sam is on the mend slowly but surely

OP posts:
PixelHerder · 20/08/2008 11:21

Good luck with running the dept Impy, I'm sure you'll do a fab job Had a quick squiz at your gorgeous Paris pics, looks v romantic anyway, even without the Eiffel Tower

Rhinestone - keep meaning to ask, are you a Glen fan? I heart him... Dom sounds v cute, and I'm sure he's not at all a fat baby.

Actually I remeasured Emma after her HV appt, and I make her 2.5cm taller than the HV did, which would put her bang on the 25th centile which is where she's been since birth, so you can't always trust their measurements anyway I reckon...

Bloss - lol, my DH always says Emma won't be allowed out of her room to meet boys till she's 37 Good luck with the job app!

Flick - Tuesday shmoosday - how can you possibly resist sushi and white wine

Not much to report here, tried to go to an NCT coffee morning just now but no one was there - maybe it's term time only, must check these things. Oh and thanks for the comments on the FB pics girls , will try and load some more recent ones up there.

Hello ladies

Another night in the cot for Mimi, but she did wake four times, and twice tried to come out and come in our bed, but I resisted. Then she wanted Daddy, to try her charms on him, but it didn't work. Lots of screaming, and lots of waking, but still in her cot! Yaay!.

Spin, LOL at Bloss riding... sorry Bloss... I just had a different image.

Impy, you go girl, you da bomb (whatever that means, my BF's dd was calling me that, I think it's a good thing!) Have a lovely time in Portugal x x x

Bloss, know what you mean, kinda, about your mum being 'involved'. My mum isn't really (though she is in Ireland, so valid enough excuse) but when we do go and see her, she's not that bothered. She does have 14 grandchildren though, plus two on the way... (not me!). For all her children, she's just not a motherly mother. MIL is the exact opposite then, she just wants to see the babies, and not us! Which is great! (but not when you're hormonal and post-natal...)
But that's a whole different kettle of fish.
Good luck with that job application and interview too Bloss!

Didn't stay dry either last night, sorry Flick, sorry Bloss! We set up our Wii (early anniversary present from me to us!) and played that, and felt like we needed a beer to go with the bowling game... just the one though! Can't wait to get back and try out Wii Fit!!

Latersssssssssssssssss

RhinestoneCowgirl · 20/08/2008 13:52

spin - Dom is about 15kg, or as far as we can tell from our highly accurate bathroom scales measuring in arms system. He has incredibly broad shoulders and his legs are getting pretty muscly from all the walking. He still has creases on his chubber little arms tho, and lovely chops

thefortbuilder · 20/08/2008 15:24

wow - jacob is only 12.5kg, but then he's always been a little thin whippet! he's tall though for the charts here apparently - 90cms at 2yrs.

he too has been eating a huge amount at dinner this week. probably because it's not been home made

no drinking for me today or tonight! had to take painkillers before i went to bed last night - not a good thing for a tuesday night!

impy hope all ok with you and everyone you know re the plane crash in madrid - wildly differing reports we are getting on the news here. anyway, off to do some filing and paperwork, got to try and find the name tapes as they need to be sewn on everything by 1 september!

OP posts:
TheGoddessBlossom · 20/08/2008 15:26

er, no Spin, I don't, ahem, ride... I do have a bike but haven't been on it for ages, we don't have the trailer type set up yet although do intend to get one so we can all go on bike rides together. Got an exercise bike in e garage (I think it's compulsory to have one in the garage isn't it?) but loathe it. Went for a swim instead today.

But then RUINED it by having a lovely cafe rouge lunch with a GF. I had a spritzer but don't count it as alcohol, and am therefore still officially dry. Might drink wine tonight though as can't tomorrow as going to see Mamma Mia with my BF. TWO cinema trips in one week, I am DECADENCE in jeans.

Off to watch telly. COS I CAN!

thefortbuilder · 20/08/2008 15:50

bloss i hate to tell you but spritzers count - so that's none of us dry this week then!!!

shall we all just get slaughtered from now on and start again next week? just had our new mixed case of pinots and nz sauvignons delivered yesterday - there's plenty to go around!

OP posts:
ImpyChica · 20/08/2008 19:10

All ok here, thanks Flick, sweetie. Everyone's shaken up of course and DP's flight back from Paris was delayed (and I kept thinking "what if?") but I don't think I know anyone actually involved. So scary and awful, poor people...

TheGoddessBlossom · 20/08/2008 20:52

gosh how ill informed I am, wasn't even aware of a crash, glad all is ok Imps!

Good idea Flick, I have had two more glasses tonight. Am rubbish. [hangs head in shame]

kbaby · 20/08/2008 21:52

Annie- I don?t think I can speak to you because mimi has passed on her sleep habits to ds and we have had a total of 6hrs sleep in the last 2 nights. I am pleased for you of course but want you to give my ds back to me too.
2Ceebee- you had a right bargain there.

DS is obv the weeny of the group then, he weighs 11.5kg and 86cm. Hope he doesn?t follow my mum, shes only 4ft 10

Off out tomorrow with a friend and her ds to a play area and then I have to take the car for its mot. Then up to see another friend for tea with her lo?s She has just had a baby and now DD is baby obsessed and both her and DS walk about with teddies up their vests and then give birth and put their babies to bed(ds gets his baby to cry by standing on her chest which is novel)

TheGoddessBlossom · 21/08/2008 08:45

Morning all. Well we are supposed to be doing a den building activity this morning at our local woods. I am determined to go even in the pouring rain. And yes it is raining.

We have tried the playing together thing, the playing alone thing, the playing with mummy thng this morning already and as each one ends in them scrapping, they are now sat in front of two separate TVs, and peace reigns. I loathe the telly being on, and particularly hate them watching two different ones, feel like a complete failure that I have resort to that to stop the screaming and whinging but without it I would go mad!

Right off to have a shower before Little Bear finishes, but with this weather I might as well just take shampoo to the woods with me!

HumphreysCorner · 21/08/2008 16:13

Seem to have dropped off this thread-must be all the rain washing me away.

Terrible, terrible plane crash.

Hope all OK, nearly time for a bottle of wine! Hic!

Hi Girls
Okay listen to Auntie Pixel - mantra for today is 'life's too short for shame'

btw I nearly typed 'life's too short for Shane' but that would had made no sense whatsoever... Sleepy vibes to all the babies xxx

thefortbuilder · 22/08/2008 13:21

well.......a bottle of nz sauvignon and a glass (shared with dh) of napa valley pinot (saintsburys - i'd reccomend it!) later and that was thursday night gone. but at least it was thursday...

off out for dinner with dh tonight - just local so will be light - might even go for tapas?

going to see about booking tickets to see santa on a saturday - harrods is fully booked on all saturdays, so we've got a wednesday morning, but would really like dh to be able to come this year.

AnnieAreYouOkAreYouOkAnnie · 22/08/2008 13:57

Hello Ladies,
Yes Thursday is essential 'Have a drink after a hard week' night. Also drank on Wednesday evening, unexpectedly going to see a friend after 'work' and staying for dinner... oh well! It's bank holiday, have to build up!!

HC, hope that rain clears, it's supposed to be nice at the weekend. Here's hoping, as we'll be sleeping in a tent in deepest darkest Somerset...

at the Madrid plane crash . Can't put it in words.

Bloss, hope your boys are bestest friends again. Boys will be boys.

kbaby at your DS, hope he settles again soon. It's just a phase, it's just a phase, it's just a phase (a long two year phase in my case but hopefully not for you)
We had another good night last night (sorry!) she just woke twice, and despite crying to come in our bed, I managed to stave her off. I think I actually fell asleep myself on the floor while waiting for her to drop off, and woke myself up with my own snoring... I hates that!

We had a lovely afternoon too yesterday, we went round to a friend's place and she has a paddling pool in her garden, Mimi jumped straight in (well, she did wait to get noodies first!) but Joey refused to go in, maybe he's a bit shyer than I thought with other kids, there were two other toddlers there too. He did jump up and down in the muddy grass though...

Have a great bank holiday everyone, see you when I get back...
