KBabes, H misses being 4 by one week, so won't go till next year. He is bigger, tougher and stronger than most of his friends so seems very strange that he will still be in nursery while they start school.

We are the proud owners of two pairs of new Geox shoes. It was actually not as bad as I expected as we were the first in the shop and they only starting doing laps at the end while I was paying. Had T measured just in case and he was in a 5 when he should have been in a 7! So he has some new shoes too, they are so cute. £70 later......

thefortbuilder · 28/08/2008 15:05

bloss grr at your dh - mine is the same in a lot of ways - he's a partner in a law firm but now apparently is more worried than ever about losing his job - erm i thought that was one of the benefits of being a partner? sorry sounds crass i know but he worked his a off for years to get to partner.

jacob is still wearing the right sized shoes thank goodness - his feet haven't really grown very much although he has shot up! dh has small feet so maybe he's got those...

and i got myself bra measured yesterday and tada was actually wearing the right size already! didn't stop me buying 2 new ones though and not telling dh about them when he asked what i'd bought....

off swimming with jacob in a few mins - he has been yelling swiiiii miiiiiing for the past 20 mins since i told him we were going and is all ready in his puffa sleeveless jacket thing by the front door - he'll be in the water about 2 minutes though.

am on the case with the booties - making sure that whoever it is that wants to sell them can't do it online and has pretty much no outlets in central and south london to approach as i'm "negotiating" with them all... gotta do something - first time in a long time it's something apart fro mthe boys that i reall want to make a go of and it's almost being whipped from under me!

anyway, must away for the swimathon

Sewing labels HC, are you mad?? She started nursery school half days last september( not sure if they do that in england but in wales they start nursery school the sept after their 3rd birthday) it means that shes already used to going to the same school and will also have the same teacher. She will go into reception stage 1. She's missed all her friends over the hols. Unfortunetly none of her uniform still fits her as shes in 5-6 clothes so its cost a fortune to uy new coats, uniform, lunch box etc.
DS will start going to a private nursery 3 afternoons a week from 8th sept. He seems to little to be left alone hopefully they will potty train him there as thats what they did to DD. DD wants lelli kellie shoes but ive band them, she has to do with clarkes instead.

PixelHerder · 28/08/2008 22:54

Hi girls - just popping in to say hi. Auntie Pixel's mantra for this week is 'everything in moderation' after my drunken (how did you guess) philosophising last week...

All fine here, going to Southampton tomorrow for a shopping trip, v excited as it's my first trip to 'the maiiinlaaaand' (as it's known here) since we moved.

Emma is a champion walker now, can literally walk miles - sadly it takes forever though as she stops every two seconds to minutely examine random bits of pavement, or stones, or drain covers, or flower beds. She stopped by a gravelled driveway the other day and insisted on trying to 'put back' each and every frigging pebble that had drifted onto the pavement (I'm sure she has OCD).

She is mostly very cute of course, usually remembers to say please and thank you 'ad oo mummy'. Potty training has ground to a complete halt, she is becoming increasingly aware of her bowels though and delights in farting (says 'oooh bot-tom' then blows a loud raspberry and collapses in giggles. It's hard not to join in though (the laughs not the farts) in a childish fashion .

Gorgeous pic of Roshi Spin, she's soooo cool!

And lol at your holiday diary Annie, sounds like a hoot, bless the lo's drumming their fingers in the car waiting to go home!

Better get off to bed, love to everybody and will catch up properly soon xxx

Morning ladies - just checking in briefly as it has been ages since I last posted - just don't seem to have time!

Spin - that photo of R is just fantastic - if I didn't know she was only 2, I would have said she was about 4 as she just looks so grown up.

Am starting to plan for Josh's bedroom for when we do it in the New Year. I am NOT having a Thomas theme so am thinking jungle animals so if anyone has any ideas or seen any cool stuff, that would be great.

Josh has now decided he is called 'Joshua' - obviously full of airs and graces Tis very cute the way he says it but I can only assume he has picked it up from nursery as we always call him Josh. And if you ask him what his middle name is, he says 'Joshua Luke' - very proper!

He is still a tiddler in 12-18 months clothes (about 88 cm and 12.5kg) but he can count to 10 and is just learning his colours (although he only knows blue so far - the others he just randomly guesses all the colours he knows!)

Hi to everyone else - sorry this is a bit of a 'me me me' post but will try and do a proper catch up later on.

AnnieAreYouOkAreYouOkAnnie · 29/08/2008 13:06

Afternoon all.

Spent a lovely evening on my own once the babes were asleep on the Wii Fit! DH was out for once. Really Fun, even on your own. Everyone should have one!

Got Mimi's bedding yesterday, only to discover the bed itself won't arrive for 7-14 days! Oops! And I've already put the cot on eBay. So poor thing will have to sleep on the mattress on the floor...

We also looked at bikes for them, but Mimi only wanted a huge big motorised car thing and wouldn't even look at the trikes. Joey had a go on a Thomas bike alright, and we nearly got it for him, but then he said he didn't want it after all. He wanted a Fireman Sam toy instead . Came out with nothing!! I was glad we didnt' get the Thomas one though (sorry Josh, oh no I mean Joshua!!) cos he's not really into him that much.

Pixel, Mimi is the same as Emma when she finds pebbles, she has to stop and pick them all up!!Takes fecken hours! Only she likes to throw them ...

Bloss, how're things with DH? I know what you mean, sometimes so tight with money, then he'll splash the cash on something we really don't need like a Wii... oh no, wait, that was me...
Still, men, huh.

Will try and get those photos from camping up later tonight. Although I might have other things to do...

Have a good weekend ladies!

x

ceebee74 · 29/08/2008 13:11

Annie - we daren't take 'Joshua' to a bike shop for fear of him seeing a Thomas bike

Just remembered about the stones - we call Josh Macca Pacca as he too has an obsession with stones We have a lot in the garden and he loves playing (i.e. throwing them) with them more than his sandpit/slide/swing etc.

TheGoddessBlossom · 29/08/2008 13:30

Toby is also obssessed with stones/pebbles/rocks. Is usually carrying at least one on each walk we do and there are loads dotted around, in his car seat, in his room, in his nursery bag...

TheGoddessBlossom · 29/08/2008 13:53

Harry has just told me he needs two mummys because he loves me all day and all night and forevernevernever.......

Morning all

Haven't been on for a while, not been well. After 4 bouts of crippling pain in abdomen/chest i am being checked for gallstones Doc said gallbladder is very inflamed atm and i will probably need surgery. Keyhole will be fine as only a few days recovery needed but if open surgery is needed i am fucked. My mindees parents will not be ok with me having 3-4 weeks off to recuperate

Have had offers of help and support from my friend and s-i-l and the ds's and DH have been fab which is lovely of course. My mum who had gallstones and the operation has offered no help or support whatsoever, not surprised really but disappointed.

The dc are great however Thank god for them!!
Ds1 is doing advanced highers in 6th year and hoping to go to Uni in 2009. To do waht is anyone's guess lol
Ds2 is doing fast track in 3 subjects, means he will sit 3 standard grades in 3rd year instead of 4th year.
Dd1 in second year of nursery before going to primary school next year. Cut Eilidh's hair 2 weeks ago (for the 2nd time) I could have cried Eilidh has the most beautiful silky hair which is down to her bum and my numpty dd1 chopped off a chunk at the side.
And dd2 is amazing. Talking in big long huge sentences about all sorts of stuff. Has decided to give up bfing n the last week. Just isn't asking in the night or after her bath. I am both and . I know she is my last and i have enjoyed this one soooo much.

I do hope all of you are well. I will be back later to catch up on the thread to hear all your news.

Apologies for the moan but it is how i feel right now xx

ceebee74 · 31/08/2008 12:37

Agalch - didn't want to ignore your message. Your DC's all sound delightful Sorry about the gall bladder for you. My friend had hers taken out 2 months ago by keyhole surgery and was off work for 3 weeks - from what she said, the pain was very similar to that you get from a c-section (not sure if you have had one of those). But on the plus side, she is feeling a million times better now she is 'through the other side' so to speak. Hope everything is ok

aGalChangedHerName · 31/08/2008 12:43

Hi Ceebee, no i have never had a section but do have a high pain threshold so not worried about the recovery as such. It's just the thought of having to be back minding within 2-3 days of having it done.

Will wait and see what the scan shows before i get my knckers in a twist lol

TheGoddessBlossom · 31/08/2008 12:56

Hi Algach, so sorry to hear of your pain and possible op. What a nightmare. And how frustrating that your mindee's parents can't see a way around you recuperating. Not your fault is it!

Your DC do sound so adorable. Credit to you and your DP.

We were supposed to go swimming after shopping this morning (H has finally filled up his pasta jar reward thingy, and his prize was a toy) but had to abandon swimming after Toby lay flat on the floor of each shop we went to screaming and crying and throwing the biggest tantrums ever. DH totally lost it and back home we came. Fun fun fun.

Taking H to the circus this afternoon, he totally loved it last year.

Two more weeks of 3 days to myself, before I pull them out of nursery. Going to make every day count. Housework tomorrow, then two days of indulgent actvities looking for a job.

kbaby · 31/08/2008 20:25

Hi Algach- My friend also had gallstones last year but left it so long before getting treatment she also ended up with pancriatis(sp) I hope the scan is ok.

I dont know what has got into DS this weekend, he has just grizzled and moaned about everything. Nothing I do is right. His demands of dummy and you get it now have almost driven me round the bend. He seems to be dropping his nap and isnt ready for a sleep until after 3pm at which point its too late to let him so that has made matters worse. DD has been winding him up too and delights in telling him what he cant have. Tonight they were both eating curry and rice, he only ate a bit so the conversation went like this;
dd- you cant have a yogurt because you havent eaten your dinner
ds- I want yogurt
dd-well you cant
ds - shouting louder I WANT YOGURT NOW
then proceeded to throw his plate on the floor and crying. I know she is only telling him what we would say to her but she just makes matters worse. Its bad enough him being in a bad mood all day without DD adding to it.
Thank god they are both in bed.

anyway, still trying to sort out the booties thing so hopefully that will be ok.

am taking a stand at the baby show so that should be fun if not kjust challenging! tell your friends!!!

Hi Ladies!

Flick, hope the nursery went well this afternoon, who cried?! So hard, leaving them that first time.
I think Mimi is dropping her nap too (again), some days she'll drop off, other days she's just far too busy causing havoc. I think she still needs it, but she doesn't seem to think so. She was never very regular at napping though, as you know!

Kbaby, know what you mean too!

Bloss, tantrum city eh? Any luck with the job hunting?

Algach, great to hear from you, though sorry to hear of your possible surgery. You must be in a lot of pain, poor you. It's one of those things, it's so unfair, yet it's so not your fault? I was like that with my arthritis, what had I done to deserve it? Nothing, but sometimes you feel that you have. Best of luck anyway, hope it goes well.
All your DC's sound like they are doing great, good on ya gal!

Spin, how's the new bed!??!
Mimi's cot is going on eBay tonight, as in it will finish tonight (£1.24 at the moment!!) so yesterday, in the absence of the new bed, we put her mattress on the floor with her new Princess duvet cover, and she slept there last night. All night! The first thing she said when she got in was 'Oooh I can get out!!' LOL! So then out she got, several million times, until I put her in the naughty corner until she promised to stay in bed. She was happy enough to stay in then. Joey was looking on in envy, I'm sure he wants a Princess bed now too, Pirates are so dull now.
She fell out once, I heard the thud and ran in, but by the time I got there, she was looking around confusedly, and climbed back in herself and rolled over back to sleep!
She woke twice as usual, but overall I'm very happy!! And this morning, they both got up by themselves, so DH and I could just lay there listening to them discussing what to do next... little monkeys...

I will post some photos soon I promise!

Best go ladies. Anniversary tomorrow, so I need to go and get a card and some chocs and perhaps even some bubbley (though I thought of having a booze-free week...).
I think DH has sneakily bought something off Amazon for me but I have no idea what.
I have bought me us him a Wii, which we already have played... Love it! (have I mentioned that...)

x x Annie x x

thefortbuilder · 01/09/2008 17:35

hi everyone! well we stayed for the 1.5 hours that jacob was at nursery today - dh nearly cried! will leave him to have a cup of coffee tomorrow and then the same for rest of week and then next week it's on his own - he was uite happy in there with the other kids to be honest - really didn't need us there!

not much else to report - glad mimi went well o nthe sleeping last night - jacob is getting worse with waking howling and having to come in with us...

RhinestoneCowgirl · 01/09/2008 20:14

Hi all - napping getting a bit erratic here too, I'm gutted as quite look forward to a little kip myself most afternoons. DS already doesn't sleep when he's at the CM (2 days a week) and on Sunday he just wriggled like a wotsit when I tried to get him down.

Today however he ran around like a loon in the park after lunch and as I popped into the library at about 2pm I looked into the buggy to see that he'd quietly dozed off. Pegged it back home sharpish and put my feet up with him parked in the hall... lovely

DH away quite a lot this week so feeling a bit lonely, ah well, more uninterrupted MNing I spose...

ceebee74 · 01/09/2008 20:28

Am feeling about you all discussing giving up naps - am absolutely dreading it as, like Rhinestone, I always have a nap myself when Josh has his! Fortunately, he still is set on an hour and a half after lunch and seems to have no intention of stopping - although I have heard that it can happen all of a sudden!! Aaaghh!!

Flick - glad the nursery went well - how often is Jacob going to go? Josh absolutely loves it and his speech has come on in leaps and bounds since he moved into the 'big room' when he turned 2 - I can't believe the difference!!

Annie - glad the move to the bed went well - sounds as if Mimi was ready for it and love the idea of them getting themselves up and ot bothering you

Rhinestone - DH is also away in Europe for a few days which is mainly fine but I am finding it quite hard to work and look after Josh at the moment and do like it when he is working from home and is around to help - I hate to think how hard it is going to get near the end of this pregnancy! As you say, I also intend to make the most of uninterupted MN and early nights
