Morning

Vino - flexitol (can get it in superdrug/boots etc) is fab my feet were awful but after using that and regular 'filing' of dead skin they are lovely!

I neecd to go and get showered and get E&H dressed as meant to be meeting friend at 9.15am and we need to be out of house by 8.45!

ladytophamhatt · 16/08/2008 09:15

Well, thankyou very much....

Huuurrmph.....

I see that Lizzzz asked you all to think of me way down thsi thread because I#ve been suffering 2 weeks of torture on a tent in the pissing rain and no-one, not a single of you siad anything

I'm back and I'm crushed.

You evil wenches.

Hi BTW.

eandh · 16/08/2008 10:19

Well I did think of you the nights its lashed it down!!

How was it??

Reggiee · 16/08/2008 14:10

Welcome back LTH. You dried out yet?

Slow day today. Had a brief lie in this morning until I heard a 'mummmeeeeee' outside the door. DH had been too engrossed in the Olympics to properly keep an eye on her, so she'd obviously got bored "reading her book in the dining room" (according to DH) and climbed up the stairs to track me down. Grrr....
Tesco's have delivered and now DH has gone to the footie. LO still snoozing and I hope she stays there a long time . Am totally deaf in one ear atm (wax issues) so may not hear her til bedtime

ladytophamhatt · 16/08/2008 19:02

It was horrible.
Wet- t rained everyday except 3 days
Uncomfortable- hard chairs, air bed mattress, tiny cooking area, no way of relaxing.
Damp- so much rain in a tent make evertthing have a damp feel, including our bed. My hair would look wavy and bouffant like in the morning because ofteh damp air.
Expensive- no cheapday on teh beach so ££££££ spent going in places.
Cold- its not really summer.
Stressful- no break from the kids because we were constantl;y in the car or traisping around places.

Hard hard work TBH.

Dragonhart · 16/08/2008 19:10

Where did you go again LTH? We went to an outdoor shop and were looking at tents thinking it sounded like a good idea and would be fun. Not so sure now...

eandh · 16/08/2008 19:13

DH used to go camping every year (mainly Spain/France) and he is determined we'll go when E & H older but tbh its my idea of hell, the holiday we went on where we stayed in a very nice mobile home was just about on my camping level

vinorouge · 16/08/2008 20:31

E&H I have looked at that flexitol stuff but always been put off by the major ingredient being urea. Maybe I'll have to give it a whirl and see if it does the trick. I inherited cracked feet from my dad - his feet are tons worse than mine.

ladytophamhatt · 16/08/2008 20:33

We were about 4 miles from perranporth, in cornwall.

Dh said how lovely it would be to be there alone, just us 2 because the kids were a nightmare.

I had to point out that if it was "just us 2" I would not be in a tent.

He was genuinely surprised that I said it....

The boys all had a FAB time though, which is I suppose what its all about.
G loved the tent.

Weird child....

Lizzzombie · 16/08/2008 21:15

vino - flexitol is amazing. My mums feet are rancid without it. In fact I should try it on my finger tips, which are all swollen and split too. nice.

lth - are you coming to airbourne tomorrow? havent seen you in aaaaaaages. when you've dried out do you fancy a pint/coffee?

I've got a black eye at the moment from DJ headbutting me when I fell asleep on the sofa yesterday morning. It looks like I have been experimenting with teenage eye makeup colours!
Right, really have to turn off the X-tra factor and make a cake for my mates birthday tomorrow...the lemon drizzle is calling me!

theSuburbanDryad · 16/08/2008 22:29

LTH - welcome back!! (I missed you)

We went to the Bluebell Railway today (all 3 of us ) and Z loved it! He was waving at everyone through the train windows. Twas v cute. He's also now had his nappy changed on a steam train, a tube train and a normal train. He's like the Littlest Hobo...

laughalot · 17/08/2008 12:17

Hi girlies

Well went to market rasen races yesterday for our annivesary which isnt till tomorrow. Thanks to a bit of input from eah my husband bought me some lovely flowers and booked a fab meal for tuesday. Races was good won two races so a bit of cash for me.

Lth sorry the camping was a washout we are going to chavy skegness this bank holiday weekend in a caravan aidan is going to love it, I am going to buy some white lightning and get pissed to drown it all out . At least cornwall is pretty skeg is vile.

2Happy · 17/08/2008 12:21

Afternoon. Not much to say. Welcome home LTH, hope you've dried out. Weather's been atrocious, the crops are rotting where they stand, the farmers are spending more on grain dryer fuel than they get for the grain, the combines keep getting stuck in the mud, it's all pretty depressing really. Having said that - we had a ncie day at the beach yesterday and it never rained once, which is just as well as I'm not sure who has the worse cabin fever, me or the boys.
We're thinking of getting a bed for ds2 too, but since the fecker darling still won't sleep anywhere with any reliability we're going to hold off for now.
Also waves at MrRgee... we were just up from Seahouses yesterday on the beach, there were a fair few people out for a run. Forgot to say thanks for the pics, BTW RGee.
Any news on the job start date, Wilkie?
Yay on the sleep through, Vino, hope she's kept it up.
Waves to canoworms, come back soon
DH - it's the final countdown (nanananaaaa, nananananaaaaa - yeah, now try getting that song out of your head, evil ).
Can't remember anything else

Reggiee · 17/08/2008 13:50

Afternoon all.
I got an all in one plastic suit thingy last week, and it has really come into its own. That and wellies = much splashing. The garden is soaking, lawn overgrown, but have fingers crossed that my washing will dry this afternoon.
Just put a joint of beef in the oven for our (late) lunch. Dh out on a run and lo fast asleep, so am catching up on the Olympics. Dh stayed up last night watching the marathon (madness - he came to bed at 3.30am).

Wilkie - I am making Yorkshire puds for the first time ever today. Lo "helped" make the batter before she went to bed.

Lal glad the races were good and you had some winners. You can spend it on your night out this week. (or on the 2p slot machines in Skegness )

Hi 2H. I've got Europe in my head now thatks to you. Good old 80s soft rock. I love it really

Dragon in case I don't come on here during the week (v unlikely) just like to say all the best for Thurs. I hope you have some means of letting us all know - do you have anyone's mob no to text and they post for you? Don't think I could cope with not knowing!! I'll be thinking of you.

eandh · 17/08/2008 15:48

Afternoon

First chance I have had to sit down as been busy cleaning, cooking roast (although then decided I didnt fancy it so just dh and girls had it) and tidying garden.

DH just taken girls to the park to wear off some energy before bedtime (and I need to wash the floors so can do that whilst they are out)

2happy - hattie is better in her bed than she ever was in her cot, and if she does get up she either just walks into our room or gets in Ellies bed with her.

Rgee- how did the yorkshire puds go?(and at the nap, today is yet another day where Hattie hasnt napped )

Dragon - I'll be on before Thursday but how you feeling I bet you're glad its nearly time now!

Wilkie - where are you????

Dragonhart · 17/08/2008 19:51

Yes, cant wait til thu, although I feel really unprepared for it. Suddenly realised that by thu night, I will have another baby! Sounds silly but I have been so preocupied with Ruth, Luke, feeling ill/sore/uncomfortable that I have not really thought about having a little newborn in the house!

Also MIL got told that the drugs she was on to shrink the breast cancer which had come back in her stomach and back were not working so she is in hospital, starting chemo tomorrow. Really gutted she wont be able to come and see the new baby and that I wont be able to travel for a while after cs (they live 4 hours drive away). It has really made me wish that I was one of those women who has their baby and 6 hours later checks out of hospital.

So we have been concentraiting on her really, then I suddenly realised I had to pack my hospital bag and get the house ready. Have to say if I knew anyone who had a cleaner, I would have got them to come and blitz the house. Got pre op tom as at our hospital they dont make you stay the night before anymore. I am really glad as I barely slept the night before Ruth's and I was only there so they could give me an indegestion type tablet the night before!

Rgee- Will get DH to post on here to let you know how it went. How did the yorkshires go? I love yorkshire pudding. Might make toad in the hole tom. Yummm.

Lizz- Ruth has a black eye and a little cut from falling and banging herself on the corner of a box for toys. Luke fell out of the car when he was messing about getting out of his seat and got a bruise near his eye from the wheel! They are both on their left eye so it looks like they have been belted round the head and marked with a ring. I said to DH that I am left handed so it wouldnt be me that gets the blamed!

LTH- Glad the boys had a good time at least. I remember realising when I was older how much my dad hated family holidays (we used to go en masse with grandparents, uncles and cousins), but we had all had a great time on them completly oblivious.

EAH- Have to say, you dont really strike me as the camping type!

2Happy- Your ploy didnt work because I cant get the tune from Pinky Dinky Doo out of my head. It has been there for days, and at night when I wake up to turn over/glug gaviscon/have a wee it drives me insane!

Vino- Hope S has continued to sleep for you. Looked at the new pics you had put on fb and there are some gorgeous ones there of both of them. We made biscuits the other day and Ruth spent more time eating dough than anything. That and flour. She kept dipping her fingers in it, putting it in her mouth and saying 'euck!' over and over.

Urban- We went on a Thomas day when Luke was younger and they had full sized steam trains with Thomas faces on them. He loved it too!

Dragonhart · 17/08/2008 19:55

Laughalot- The flowers look gorgeous. Hope you have a good day tomorrow.

vinorouge · 17/08/2008 19:56

Had a lovely walk this morning, S in her pouch and E in her backpack. The plan was for E to walk a bit but she was asleep when it was suitable and she just loved being in her pack again. Hooray!

DH - bet you are glad this week has finally come

RGee+E&H - those roasts sound good. Hope your yorkshires turned out ok rgee, I am still learning. Mum says the hotter the oven and the oil the better, plus she always uses a knackered fairy cake tin that she swears does them best!

DH is cookig us steamed salmon and veg for tea. We both had a good lunch finishing off leftovers from the past 2 nights meals so aren't actually that hungry.

eandh · 17/08/2008 19:56

Oh dragon if I was closer I'd come and clean for you

vinorouge · 17/08/2008 19:58

2h - I feel pensive about farmers and crops when you talk about the price of grain. Doesn't sound a very balanced situation.

Lizz - lemon drizzle done? Sounds yum.

LTH - sounds like your DH really likes camping! At least you managed the full 2 weeks, didn't you have to come home early last year?

ladytophamhatt · 17/08/2008 21:04

Just a day early, same as this year.

Rain was forcast all day on saturday so we packed up on friday....exactly the same as last year actually!

DH is taking ds2 away again on wednesday, theres a campsite with 10 fishing lakes about 15 miles away so they're going camping for the night to do amassive fish-a-thon.

Lizzz, we didn't go to Airbourne this year. I've got so much washing to do its ridiculous so we didn't go.
I did 5 loads yesterday, 3 today and still have about 2-3 to go and that without the stuff we've produced since being home.

I have a question for you all, but I need to do it via msn. Its nothing hugely exciting but I just want to run something pass you all to see what RL people do.

Wilkiepedia · 17/08/2008 21:32

Good luck with job today Wilkie!

LTH - I am at work today so no msn for me (unless you get on there in the next 13minutes!)

Its raining again today so my Mum wsill get cabin fever with the girls, although she just rang and said put wellies in car so I'm imagining they are going out regardless!
