Congratulations Lizziemum - no.3 was a real shock for me even though he was planned. But he has fitted into the family so easily - think they have to. Much less of a jump from 2 to 3 than it was from 1 to 2. Enjoy every minute - it goes past so quickly!

I really must do something to stop no.4 (chance would be a fine thing to be honest!). Still not had a af (nearly 2 years ), so not got a prompt to remind me!

I've had a bit of a crappy month. recently diagnosed with a condition that left me almost unable to walk. Now on drugs and believed me the song lies - the drugs do work! Didn't realise how bad I was until I started feeling better!

We're on holiday for ds2 Bday. Will probably just have a cake there. As long as he's got a photo with chocolate cake over his face, he won't remember or care! The complete opposite of TT? Paddys party sounds fab!

Ds2 has just started to crawl - in the first week he's mastered the stairs and escaping through the front door - found him halfway down the front path today.

Guess what.............after a week of ds being a grumpy little git, he finally has his first tooth He is almost back to the happy smiley boy he's always been.

Well after a tense couple of days dh's grandad is improving. They found a couple of urine infections, which they have treated and now he is off the critical list and has had all of his drips taken out. His nan must be so relieved. Her mind must be all over the place after being told he was going to die. We really don't know what state he is left in (brain function wise) or what this means for his life expectancy. We're not getting much detail and we're 70 miles away so it's difficult to get up there to visit. Hopefully we'll have more news soon.

Had ds' party today. Having looked at the weather for the week I decided it was the best day as they have forecast rain for the rest of the week. I only had ds' cousins round to play in the garden with the climbing frame, slide and trampoline. They all seemed to have a good time and I have a chocolately, cakey face picture to upload soon.

Sorry to hear about dd2 My2. Hope she's feeling better now.

Good to hear from you loler. Sorry to hear about your illness. Is it temporary or will you have to take the drugs long term?

I know Joe's birthday has long gone now but I felt left out so I added him for the 5th Aug anyway, lol!

Sorry you've been unwell loler, glad the drugs are working! Well done to ds on crawling, it's so much fun when they are mobile. I love it although most people told me it gets harder when they can crawl, I found the complete oposite and ds is so much happier and just potters round all day!

Gill, congrats to ds getting his first tooth, it makes them a lot happier doesn't it?!

Joeseph's got 6 teeth now, he had 4 for months and the others took ages to appear! Finally popped through the day before yeesterday so he's getting a proper little toothy smile now and he's gorgeous!

Hope everyone's well, I'm still very broody and I'm even of tasha's pregnant guinea pig!

Hi all ? glad you dh?s granddad is getting a bit better gill. It?s hard being far away and not able to get there/pop up. Well done on the first tooth!

Tasha ? sell them quick before they start breeding!

Hi loler ? nice to hear from you, glad the drugs are working

Dd2 is much better now ? back to chewing my shoes, lifting the toilet seat up and swishing the water (fortunately flushed/clean water ? dd1 leaves the door open all the time), climbing up onto the table, pushing all the kitchen chairs round ? just general mischief.

She?s nearly got all ?bits? of her molars through ? hooray

Must go and do some work ? will try and keep more up-to-date?.

gill thats great news on your dh's grandad. and CONGRATS on the first tooth im sure your relieved happy

meandmyjoe- PMSL on being {envy} of the guinea pig lol had my friend round yesturday and she has started feeling the baby kick I miss that feeling but then id want to skip the baby bit

my2 glad the wee woman is back to herself. my heads turned atm with my 3, the HFM couldnt possibly last much longer. ds2 is the worst with it, then ds3 hes had a lot of high temps and is very clingy and gurney, not wanting to eat but hungry and ds1 hasnt got it too bad but is very sensitive atm and bursts into tears at the slightest wee thing.

gonna cook them lol shes ready to pop so i think ill go into the pet shop with a box and sound like someone from a market 'three for a pound, three for a pound'

better get the house tidied.

Report
meandmyjoe · 12/08/2008 13:36

lol flogging the kids! Glad you meant the guinea pigs!

I agree with u tash, I hated the first 9 months of baby stage but I keep dilluding myself that my next baby wouldn't be quite so high needs as Joseph was! Perhaps this time I'd cope better even if it was high needs and fussy as I would know there was light at the end of the tunnel. With Joe I honestly thought I was doing everything wrong and thought he would be a grumpy and dysfunctional child! I didn't realise what a happy lttle charmer he can be.

My HV came round yesterday to do the 12 month check up and she was amazed at all the things he can point at when I ask him where they are. She also sad he was a very friendly boy! I was so proud but I kept thinking, mmm if only you'd known him before he got crawling! She isn't my original HV so when I told her what a screaming git he used to be she couldn't believe it!

So anyway has everyone's night times calmed down yet? A lot of us were having a crap time around 10 months with teething/separation/illness. Pleased to report that Joe is back to settling himself and sleeps through although has decided to wake at 5:30am every morning now. but it's a hell of a lot better than waking all night si I can't complain.

DS is napping, hence the long post! Better stop waffling and do something constructive!

hi folks - back from my parents - had a great time. Agricultural show in my home town over the weekend and it was great - lots of animals and all ds's cousins were up too.

lots to catch up on so sorry if i miss some things.

congrats lizziemum - how are you feeling about it now? hope you are getting used to the idea.

tasha - well done on the assignment. echo all the other comments about doing it with three children. hope you manage to find homes for the guinea pigs.

meandmyjoe - most people i know with more than one dc have had such different experiences each time. in one way, it could be a blessing in disguise to have a more difficult baby first, cause pretty much anything with the second would be better, and you'll probably really enjoy it after the first time round. and as you say, if not, you at least know that there is an end to it. sounds like you really want another.

happy birthday james. hope he had a great day.

lol gill at dd's sainsburys comment. child free evening sounds great - need to finish bf first though.

ds had a great birthday - lots of fun at a country park - then games at home with his cousins and some other friends. after they went to bed, the adults played the conrflake box game and i won - couldnt believe i was actually quite flexible.

ds has been really funny all weekend - he absolutely loved the animals at the show and learnt lots of animal noises. he also loves singing and does little hand gestures to say to sing twinkle twinkle, then baa baa for baa baa black sheep and points at his head for head shoulders knees and toes - i love the communication now.

anyway will go now - sure i have missed lots i meant to say, but really long post already.

Ds had his vaccination today. He screamed but not for long. I've booked in the next one for a month's time and told dh he's taking him, especially because it will be 2 needles.

I feel really bad. Ds was sitting on the sofa with me this evening. He wanted to get down so I helped him. I thought he had his footing but didn't and fell flat on his face with his dummy in His mouth kept bleeding and I couldn't work out where it was coming from. After a while I realised the dummy was damaged where the teat meets the base. I had a look and some skin has come away from his top gum. It looked really sore and I kept having to take things away that he was chewing cos it was making it bleed again. Dh is away tonight so I couldn't get a second opinion but I left it a while and it had stopped bleeding and looked much less swollen. Poor little man. He's fast asleep now.

Glad the 12 month check went well meandmyjoe. Night times are much better here now too. Ds (touch wood) is actually sleeping in much later. He's woken at about 6:45 for the last 2 mornings

Posts crossed conker. Glad you had a nice time at your parents.

Dd comes up with lots of classic comments. The other day she told me that the lady in the sat nav needs to calm down because she told us to turn left when we had already turned left.

You've done so well to bf this long. Do you plan to carry on til he self-weans? How often does he bf now? Ds only has one milk feed first thing in the morning and he's losing interest in that now.

conkertree

I think we are getting used to the pg. I think it was meant to be as it took us two years to fall pregnant with my other pregancies and this just happened.

meandmyjoe, conkertree is right Lizzie was a prefect baby fed every 4 hours and slept between from day 1. Where as Lexie when a baby and was complete nightmare wouldn't settle. Would scream for hours. But now she up and walking and can get to whatever she wants she is much happier.

I'm just hoping this baby is mixture of the other two.

Report
conkertree · 12/08/2008 22:06

great lizziemum - hope you are not having too much morning sickness or anything - you will be a real pro this time round.

gill - poor ds - my ds bit his tongue falling today and that was bad enough for keeping bleeding but the gum sounds really painful. poor thing.

i feed him morning and night every day (and usually overnight once), then on the 4 days I'm at home during the day, I give him another bf at lunchtime. Feel he should probably be getting something else on the days i'm not at home, but cant express much and he's sick with formula. just starting to introduce cows milk now. because its the only milk he's used to, i havent seen any signs of him wanting to stop, but i will try and encourage the cows milk, as would like to ttc #2 before long, and dont really fancy bfeeding for too much longer while pg.

Oh I see Joe isn't good enough for your birthday list lol!

I am sorry to hear about ds' fall gill, hope his mouth is ok, poor little chap!

We are taking Joseph for his booster vaccinations at half 9 this morning. I hate taking him cos he always sits on my knee, smiling and chattering to the nurse and then when she injects him he just looks up at me in shock and his little bottom lip starts to shake, his eyes fill up and he wails! He looks at the nurse in disbelief like he just can't unerstand why one minute she was smiling at him then the next she's stabbing him!

Anyway, glad to hear the pg has sunk in lizzie. So pleased for you and !

Conker, I think u are right, I do want another baby desperately but I hope it is just a phase I'm going through! I think it might just be the relief from me finally enjoying Joseph and feeling stronger and more confident now he doesn't cry and whinge all day long. I also feel very guilty for not enjoying his early babyhood so I don't want to have another baby for the wrong reasons yswim? I am scared I may just want one so I can try and enjoy it this time or so I can somehow redeem myself for the way I felt first time round. I am now convined that we will have another but maybe not for a couple of years when I have forgotten how bad it was!

Anyway, gonna go and get ds his toast!

I think I jinxed it. After saying that ds was waking just before 7, he woke up at 5 this morning. I got him back to sleep twice but he woke up before I got him upstairs. He's now helping me type

His gum's bleeding a bit again after he smacked himself in the mouth with dd's elastic band ball. Dh is back this morning so he can have a look. He's going out shortly after though as he got a call yesterday from his uncle telling him he's going to hospital with breathing problems. Dh is the only family he's got. It never rains...

I bet you can't wait to get a full night's sleep conker

Hope Callum feels better soon helibee. How sweet that he blows kisses. I bet everyone coos over him.

meandmyjoe - I hated the baby stage with dd. She was such hard work and ds has been a dream baby in comparison. I've lost count of how many times I've felt broody in the last year and it was very strong recently especially with 3 pg friends.

I feel exactly the same about vaccinations. That's why I made dh take dd for her last one and he's taking ds for his next one.

Hi guys!

Congrats on not being pg sagpuss, that was me a few weeks ago- don't want any more just yet!

Hi Ceolas, and an early Happy Birthday to Anna! Don't worry about keeping up, just stick your head round the door when you can!

Gill, sounds like your mum's doing well! Hope she does manage to keep it off. Ds's party sounds great! Congrats on the tooth. Ouch at him falling off the sofa. J is always falling now, my nerves are in tatters. Sorry to hear about dh's relatives, is he coping ok?

My2wegirls, glad dd2 is better now- she sounds like a handful! sorry you ended up in the hospital with her on her birthday- not the memories you'd hoped for, no doubt. Molars! Good god.

Knickers, sounds like you're getting sorted for your next one now, at least you've still got all the baby stuff, I spose!

tasha sorry your boys have hand foot and mouth, how are they feeling now?

Hey loler, great to hear from you. Sorry to hear about your condition, sounds quite serious! Glad you're on the mend now. Where are you off on holiday?

Conker, Struan's communication sounds great- still not much happening here- if anything James communicates less these days. Glad he enjoyed his birthday! Ooh, tlking about ttc the next one already! I'm going to be one of the only unpregnant ones here soon (Gills next, I'm sure of it!!)

helibee sorry callum hasn't been well. Wow at him saying alice! That's such a hard word to say really.

meandmyjoe- you sound like you're due a happy baby next time though! James was a lovely happy fairly easy baby- my sister says I'm due an absolute horror next time, another reason I'm not ttc yet...
