Lots of labour vibes for you then!!!!!

Fingers crossed that Lexie gets abit better.

Sorry about your job gill, hope they/you can sort something out.

Knickers no baby yet was due monday (9th) just lots of bachache and a few hours of bh/contractions everyday for a week then nothing.

Although i am dreading it as Lexie is a very sticky little girl. She hates Lizzie sitting on my lap/cuddles, pushes daddy away if we kiss cuddle. It's going to be such fun when this baby finally arrives. She is such a mummies little girl.

Awwww Hersetta, C is sooo cute.

Has anyone had babies yet?

So sorry to hear about your job Gill - I have all my fingers and toes crossed that they can sort something out for you.
Sorry Callum is unwell helibee - Caitlin has had a horrid cold since Saturday but apart froma restless night on Saturday night she had been as good as gold.

I had a lovely (and boozy) birthday we had 3 bottles between us - a bottle of champagne before we went out and a bottle of white and one of red with our meal. Felt very grown up and was lucky that Caitlin didn't wake up until 8.10 the next morning - thank goodness!

I've uploaded a couple of new pics to my profile of Caitlin taken last weekend looking rather cute (if a touch boyish) in her new England shirt - a bargain at £2.99 for a full kit!

gill-so sorry about the job situation and i hope that they manage to find something for you and glad that the headaches are getting better

conker-can't believe how close you are to baby coming, let me know when you're free to meet up and my2 as well

lizzie-hope everything is ok and that you get a smooth easy labour for you and the wee one

loler-hope you're all feeling better. Callum has been feeling poorly the last week, i hate seeing him like that.

I cut his hair on saturday-he has such a mop of hair which i love and i thought i'd trim his fringe but i cut above my fingers rather than below so it's too short but at least his hair grows fast.

It was my dads 60th birthday last week so he was up with us which was lovely and Callum adores his grandad completely. He was so upset when dad left, his lips quivered and he had tears streming down his face

my2-we've been singing lots of row row row your boat too and we stole a few of your verses. Dh said perhaps the ending to the canal one could be . . .

row row row your boat gently down the canal
life is happy, life is good, not at all banal

Sorry to hear about all the illness loler. Hope everyone's better soon.

The dcs were up early this morning (dd at 4:45 and ds at 5:30 ) so I used the time to apply for a few jobs online. There's a small chance I could get another job within the company but there are 70 people affected and the next closest site is another 30 minutes drive out of my way. They do have some jobs that are home based so if I'm lucky I could get one of those. Next week we've got a cv workshop and the following week we've got meetings with HR so they can discuss what we want to do and see if there are any jobs available. I'm not holding my breath though. We'd been talking about ttc in April. I guess that will have to go on hold until I can secure a job.

Report
loler · 05/03/2009 18:14

Gill - oh dear, whats the chance of finding something in the company? Try and stay positive - could be the begining of something even better. How are the headaches (not a good time to ask I guess!)

We're in the sick house here. Everyones got sore throat, ds2 on antibs for throat infection (4th in 6 months) and impetigo. So have been house bound and had to have day off work.

GillL · 05/03/2009 16:08

Hi uki. Good to hear from you. Glad the new house is almost ready to move into. How's the pg going?

Unfortunately the meeting was bad news. They are shutting our building down and everyone will have to be out by 10th April. They are putting a lot of effort into trying to redeploy people in other areas of the company. I'm fortunate that I am on an old contract which gives me 90 days to try to find another job before I'm made redundant. Most people only have 30 days. I've also got the boss on my side. She said she's going to do everything she can to keep me on the contract but at another site or home based (which would be nice). I was feeling quite sick yesterday but I'm more positive now. I'd already booked the day off today which I think has helped. From Monday I have to start helping transfer the work overseas I hope I don't have to leave the company, I've been there almost 11 years.

Hope everyone is well.

Hello everyone

not had much time to blink an eye lately, very busy with builders and renovating the new house, it's looking good but a couple more weeks before we can move from my art studio back into the house.

Lizzie- GOOD LUCK hun, can't wait to hear your news

Conkertree- not long for you now either, are you all ready and set up for your little girl

Gill- hope the meeting was not as bad as expected.

Can't believe our augies will be 2 in a few more months, LL has already had a few terrible tantrums he used to be so good, but his friendly and helpful side makes up for it.

he eats like a horse definitely not an economical child like our first.

looks like we'll need a new thread soon-

Ds slept in his own room for the first time on Friday. He wasn't very happy about it and it took hours to get him to sleep, poor little thing. Dd didn't help. She kept making noises and screaming

Thanks guys, I'll let you know what happens.

lizzie - can't believe you are so close! and i hope you have another silent labour - as long as you are where you want to be.

gill - i hope it's not what you think - if it did move would that mean big problems for you?

hersetta - must remember that one (i make up verses too) dd1 names some sort of waterway and makes me sing to them.

row, row, row you boat, gently down the burn
if you see a gruffalo don't forget to run

or ....gently down the sea, if you see a kettle, have a cup of tea...

i'm still sturggling with what rhymes with 'canal' best i've come up with so far is

...gently down the canal
if your face is dirty wash with a flannel

conker - hope you get lots of rest

No just whilst we are out which is fine really apart from I bet Caitlin decides to get up at 7am.

ooh that sound ominous Gill but fingers crossed for the best.

Feeling a bit pissed as we went out for a forced 2.5 hr lunch as we are moving offices within the building today and they had to mpve all of the PC's over lunch so we had no choice than to go to the pub whilst the IT depy did their thing......shame.

Lizzie are you getting excited/nervous? It seems like such a long time ago that we all had our newborns. My friend was due on Monday but I haven't heard anything yet so I guess she's either overdue or in hospital.

Happy birthday Hersetta! Hope you have a lovely time at the restaurant. Is PIL babysitting overnight or just while you're out?

Morale is very low at work at the moment. Yesterday we got an email from the head of HR to say that our division manager will be holding a briefing for all staff in our building on Wednesday. We're expecting him to say that they're going to shut down the building and move the work to other sites

Yay, happy maternity leave Conker - hope you have a nice rest (if you can) before the LO arrives.

We are well. Caitlin is doing well and chatting like mad. She seems to understand so much now. If you say to her 'Caitlin, where's your teddy' she runs and picks him and holds him aloft and proclaims 'here it is' she also says 'that's it' if she's been struggling for a while with something and then finally does it - like putting the right shape through a hole in her shape sorter.

It was lovely last night as I watched DH and Caitlin playing. Caitlin was sitting on his lap and leaning backwards and forwards whilst DH sung Row, row, row your boat to her and at the end of each verse she did the right noise even when it came to 'if you see a polor bear, don't forget to shiver' she shook herself and said Brrrrrrrrr. Dh even wrote a verse himself as we have guinea pigs which goes

Row, row row your boat gently down the creek
if you see a guinea pig don't forget to squeek.

To which Caitlin then shouts eek eek.

Very cute watching them play together.

Hope you all have nice weekends - it's my birthday tomorrow so we're getting PIL in to babysit so we can go out to a very non family friendly restaurant - yay!

wow lizziemum - guess that must be the easiest birth so anything after that must be hard work - rather than the first being the hardest and getting easier after that.

i'm amazed by how everyones bodies work in such different ways.

doing a happy maternity leave dance now as thats me finished here for quite some time.

My silent labour went like this

Water went at 6.30am with a very bloody show got to the hospital at about 8am had to be examined by a dr to find out why i was bleeding as i hadn't had a contraction. I was already 8/9cm dilated and only had contractions in the final stage of pushing Lizzie out and then only 4 or 5 contractions.

Report
conkertree · 26/02/2009 10:30

can i ask what a silent labour is lizziemum?

hopefully as loler says, it will be an easy birth but i always quite like the reassurance of someone checking fairly early on anyway - makes me relaxe more to be in a hospital environment, although i know a lot of people are the opposite.

loler - i felt a bit guilty moving him out of it as I dont want to be pushing him to grow up too fast, but as it turns out, its working out much better than the cot ever did - dh was with him once last night but he settled quickly, and if we end up having to lie down with him - its much comfier joining him in a single bed rather than trying to cuddle him in a cot.

he was cute this morning - there is a duvet at the bottom of the bed incase one of us joins him, (he is still in a sleeping bag) but he'd crawled down and pulled it up over himself - so i think he's telling us he would like a duvet properly if he's in a big boy bed.

right last few hours at work - better make them productive so there are no loose ends.

Lizzie - never heard of that problem before I had 3 x 9lb+ babies too. I had a very pants MW and only saw the consultant rarely though. Ds2 was breech until 38 wks but MW said that as muscles were saggy he was likely to be able to move around until he was ready to come. Birth was very easy - hope you have the same experience.

Can't believe that Struan is in a big boy bed. I keep forgetting how old they really are dc1&2 were both kicked out of their cots so that the new dc could go in it. I think I'm in denial about DS2 growing up! (although I am dieing to get rid of the pushchair and get a nice small car!)

Not Long now 38wks today. Although i need to ask a few questions to the midwife on friday. Because I have had 2 9lb + babies my stomach muscle aren't what they should be. So this baby is a 'unstable lie' which basicaly means the baby isn't being held in place IYKWIM.

When i saw the consultant on friday because it was laying tranverse, but had moved to spine down my left side and head against my right pelvis with head bent back. I have been told i need to go to the hospital as soon as i'm labour as he had concerns about the cord coming first.

My main probelm being i had a silent labour with Lizzie and was induced with Lexie so i need to find out what the midwife suggests i do.

sleeping still going pretty well - one night not so good but think he was very itchy so in general so far it's been a success. my sister is taking him overnight for the first time tomorrow night so that dh and i can have a night out before the next lo comes along so am looking forward to a little lie in although dont expect to sleep through myself as am getting late pg insomnia.

lizziemum - am feeling pretty good - sore pelvis and tired but nothing unusual - how about you? You must be due really soon.

hersetta - spain sounds great. we've just booked a wee cottage in the south of france for a week in september - trying to weigh up the pros and cons of driving/flying to see which would be more sensible with two los. lol at the baby shoplifting. obviously the way to do it if you were so inclined if they didnt even notice.

my2 - its funny how definite they are that things have to be done right - dh does two little dicky birds with struan but if i try and do it he does the same - tells me no.

interesting how many of you say that either your own or children you know havent slept well until they are in a bed (if they are not too restless sleepers otherwise, so they dont fall out). The guard rail covers quite a lot of the bed so he is unlikely to roll out, and so far - hasn't seemed to want to try and climb over it, but we'll see.

ds has been really really chatty in the last couple of days - he keeps standing in front of the mirror, talking to himself for a good 5 or so minutes at a time - usually starting each sentence with emm.... (makes me wonder if i say that a lot), then babbling away. sometimes he points at things, sometimes he starts laughing, and sometimes he pulls faces in the middle of sentences - I'm convinced he's practising audition pieces for drama school - its really funny to watch but cant laugh or he'd be interrupted and stop.

my2 - I'd say things appear to be starting to pick up slowly - certainly have had more clients ready to put in offers in the last few weeks, so might not be the best time for me to go off, but then the paralegals and secretaries in my office are down to a four day week, so guess if it picks up over the next few months, they can have them back up to 5 days before needing more solicitors.

oh conker - you've made me think i should try dd2 in a big bed - she still gets up at least once a night! but i know that there is no chance of her staying put - she manages to tear round her cot even in her sleeping bag, and is a real wriggler when she's sleeping. and like you gill, her room is at the top of the stairs so we'll need to put a gate on her door too.

certainly dd1 never slept through till she moved to her big bed (she moved into one at 2yr 2 months) when she could understand 'no, stay in bed' so i'm hoping that come october dd2 will be ready.

conker - can't believe you've only 2 days at work left! have things started picking up a bit? there certainly seems to be more houses in the paper and more for sale signs seems to be popping up (hope that's cos people are moving on and not because of repossession though)

hersetta - glad you had a good time and caitlin did well on the flights!

dd2's latest is everytime i start to sing twinkle twinkle little star she gets very serious, points her finger at me, and says 'no' sternly, then starts to sing it herself. or if dd1 signs different words to it (twinkle, tiwinkle chocolate bar, my dad drives a rusty car, start the engine, pull the choke, off we go in a puff of smoke....) dd2 gets very very upset and shushes her big sister.

Great news about Struan sleeping well in a big bed conker. Fingers crossed it continues.

Ds' room is almost finished. Only the carpet, curtains and a socket left to fit. He won't be going in a big bed though. I don't trust him to stay in it. Saying that, he never tries to climb out when we forget to put the side of the cot up. We will be putting a gate at the door just in case he learns to climb out of the cot. His room is right at the top of the stairs.

Dd still falls out of her bed sometimes. She rarely wakes up though. When she first went in it we put a duvet on the floor to cushion the fall.

Glad you had a nice holiday Hersetta. Sounds like Caitlin was a little angel on the plane. My dd almost walked out of Boots with a pack of dummies on sunday. She put them in the bag she was carrying. Fortunately she told me about it so I was able to put them back.
