V nice. The highchair we have is a wooden one that fits in at the table, think its nice for the LO's as they get older to feel part of the family not stuck at the side of the table on their own IYSWIM

SalLikesCoffee · 19/08/2008 21:05

Denny, yes, we feel exactly the same, so at least that limited the number of chairs that we were looking at. This one has a tray, but it can be removed at any time so that he can join us at the table, which is our eventual plan.

SalLikesCoffee · 19/08/2008 21:12

Oh, I had to laugh at myself Saturday (when I was supposed to be clothes shopping) when I got all excited in John Lewis when I saw the great variety of "plastic topped" material rolls! Tablecloths galore! Hehehe, how your priorities change.

EllieG · 19/08/2008 21:20

Hey ladybee - is belated but am so glad you are getting some help. Come back and see us when you can xxx

Hi gemprincess! Glad all good with you and girls and Ashton

I am a bit miserable about my weight. I want to be 3 stone lighter (as pre pg and MC and depression) but weight ain;t shifting. And I am soooo tired so don't exercise. Must make more effort. I used to have an eating disorder for years and today started having weird eating disordered thoughts....scared me....don't want to go down that road again. Think I just need to be a bit healthier. More veg, less choc.

Molly woke up at 1.30 last night and YELLED and grizzled and nothing would pacify her. Not picking her up, not putting her down, not patting, not nothing. In end I left her, and every 3 mins or so went to her cot and patted and shushed as picking her up made her cry more. After an hour or so she fell asleep. I don't know. She can't seem to settle herself without her dummy and she cries so much now. I hate it. Am I doing the wrong thing? Does anyone else's baby cry lots before sleep? I don't want her to be a sad baby....

SalLikesCoffee · 19/08/2008 21:27

Ellie, sounds tough. I wonder why she woke up? Maybe it was wind or something that just wouldn't shift? (guessing here). Roelof's normally fine, but if he's over tired he cries and fusses and is extremely unhappy before he goes to sleep. The fact that he then fights the sleep doesn't help either.

EllieG · 19/08/2008 22:05

I think it is over-tiredness sal, without dummy she finds it so hard to sleep and then it all gets a bit much, poor mite.

Have put some more photos of her on my profile

Scorpio - mimi is so sweet! And growing at a rate of knots! Can't believe how much she's changed

SalLikesCoffee · 19/08/2008 22:28

Oh Ellie, she is such a gorgeous and happy looking baby! Quite the performer in her playgym too, I see. Hmm, getting all broody here... Might go and pester dh

SushiMama · 19/08/2008 23:39

Glad it went well LadyBee. Take care

hello gemprincess! wow just realised you were due after me, and Ashton is so much older than DD now. Glad he is well.

Scorpio, I'd say go for the job if you're up for it. It's only a few weeks, but it will be a BUSY time though.

VS- Thanks for your help

We are going for jabs tomorrow. Yay! Not!
As for highchairs, I've kind of narrowed it down to the Stokke or the cheap Ikea one.

EllieG- "more veg, less choc" is my mantra too

V1KK1M · 20/08/2008 09:07

Hello All,

Sorry I haven't been in touch since the birth but have been so busy. I loved reading about all your experiences whilst you were pregnant and am trying to catch up slowly.

Zara is fine and we have started the weaning although I do not really know what I am doing and just making it up as I go along.

I'm now back to work and Zara is being a really good baby and still sleeping through the night (from 8 weeks).

We has some shocking news last week that we are expecting No. 2 so I have also joined the Due April 2009 thread (I really can't believe I'm here again). If any of you have advice and guidance on how to cope with 2 young children it will be much appreciated!!!!

IShaggedInVictorianSqualor · 20/08/2008 09:57

Sloody hell V1KK1M!
Congratulations.

I'm getting a nursery for Alex
We've decided to put DD&DS1 in the same room for a year, basically the time we'll be at this new house.
The second bedroom isn't very big so Dd wouldn't have had much space in there anyway, Plus I've had ENOUGH of tidying two rooms because they are messy little bleeders (I did a thread in AIBU) also, they never ever stay in their own rooms anyway, they are always in each others, so, the plan is, Alex gets the small room, (my first nursery) Ella&Bobby will share the big room, with the bunkbeds and then when Alex is about 18months he will share a room with Bobby and Ella will get her own.

They've decided they both like this bedset so at least there will be no moaning that the room is too boyish or too girly.

scorpio1 · 20/08/2008 11:09

V1kk1 - Congrats!!! I havent had such a small gap between mine, but know several that do - they get out of the house so i guess its do-able, lol

VS - none of mine have ever had a nursery as such.

Ellie - i don't think baby's can be sad as such....not with loving parents etc etc. Keep at it.

Peachy · 20/08/2008 11:14

Congrats V1kki! I had ds2 13 months after ds1, it wasn't that hard imo as you're already in he baby mindset- although practicalities like sleep are a pita!

Tips erm- get a swng seat to occupy each while you play with the other- made a massive difference! You'll need a double buggy but only use it when you have to; I found a really good sling for baby combined with a single buggy much more manoeverable.
Remember that you'll be that much more experienced next time so the challenges will be smaller but- and this is a lesson I have learned with no4 LOL- remember that whilst you may be more experienced, it's still your babies first time in this world; I think I got a bit too uber-capable wiyth Bas and slowing down (bany whisperer style) has helped a lot

mummyhasaheadache- jimjams on her has loads of info on mmr, she's doing a phd in asd and knows her stuff from papers etc, try posting for her?

Bas had an awful temperature last night from jabs, poor lad

Sal love the highchair, tesc do something similar but not half as stylish so think I ell end up with that; ds1 trashes furniture so nothing lasts here anyway. And wipeable tablecloths (goodness aren't we exciting LOL)- cath kidstn have some vaguely stylish oilcloth by the metre

IShaggedInVictorianSqualor · 20/08/2008 11:15

I've decided.
I want to be pregnant.
I've never really done the whole TTC thing properly, I just shagged so can someone explain all the CD stuff.

scorpio1 · 20/08/2008 11:18

just shagging is actually the best idea

CD1 is the first day your period starts

CD14 is typical ov day (mine is more like 19 though)

CD28 - new period?

also look for changes in CM etc

scorpio1 · 20/08/2008 11:19

though i have found since BF none of it makes sense anymore - i havent had another period so we just shag, lol

scorpio1 · 20/08/2008 11:23

have a look at webwomb.com

SalLikesCoffee · 20/08/2008 14:02

Congratulations, V1KK1M! That's great news. How are you feeling?
As Roelof is my first, I've got no experience to share, but when I considered trying immediately, I asked my mom (there was 14 months difference between my brother and myself - I'm the youngest of 4), and she said it was actually easiest for her that way (couple of years gap between the others), as she was still "in the habit" of it and used to little sleep etc. We were also great friends (and most likely up to no good together, but ignore that bit).

Peachy, thanks, will check out Kath Kidston too then.

Roelof's teething (probably combined with yesterday's jabs) is quite, uhm, noticable today (as in extremely, extemely groggy, loads and loads and loads of dirty nappies...) Up till now I've never been able to do it, but he was winning today, so I spent the morning napping with him every time he had the odd 20 mins sleep. Poor thing, I'm sure it's tougher for him than me though.

scorpio1 · 20/08/2008 14:06

Oh, poor Roelof have you tried granules for him? Also how is oyur feeding going - hope its going well for you!

One of 4? I was one of three, the eldest, loved it. DH is an only, said he always vowed to have more than one dc....he is the one who doesn't use contraception and im very happy with that, so i guess we are ttc, just doing it whenever though. Even though i have no period since 8 weeks postnatal i think that when i started having to feed in the night through those few weeks it set it back iyswim, now she is sleeping again i expect i will have another period. On Kellymom it says sometimes bf mothers have periods without ovulation though....

God are we all nutters!!!

SalLikesCoffee · 20/08/2008 14:31

I've only given him granules once or twice before, but will start more regular from today (i've given him one sachet already this morning).

Scorpio, thanks for asking about the feeding It's going good(ish) - great at home, but I can't really breastfeed him in public anymore, because he puts up a big fuss before he'd start drinking, so I have to walk around with him in my arms, boob(s) swinging, nipple flashing, etc etc etc. Not really your usual Starbucks customer... But I'm fine with that, he feeds great at home, so the odd ff when out doesn't bother me too much. And I express more, so night feed usually expressed.

And yes, because I've always had brothers and a sister, I just knew I wanted a couple of children (if possible obv). My dh only wants 2, but we'll probably settle on 3. It's strange - I loved my job, would work overtime willingly when needed, loved deadlines etc etc, and now, although I miss it sometimes, my life just feel more "important" somehow. (2 minutes ago after a spectacularly stinky nappy I wasn't so sure though...)

scorpio1 · 20/08/2008 14:31

boiler man here

yay hot water!!!!!

scorpio1 · 20/08/2008 14:33

Mimi is getting more distracted whilst out too, even at home sometimes. Glad its going well!! [nosey]

IKWYM about life importance, too. uni feels a million miles away in my thoughts now.

SalLikesCoffee · 20/08/2008 14:38

Ah wonderful, I wondered about your hot water situation earlier when I saw the weather outside - seems like a good day to have a warm bath tonight! Hope it gets sorted today.

scorpio1 · 20/08/2008 14:43

have hot water now!! and dhs van got fixed today cheaper (by about £100) because we got (new)parts from ebay

SalLikesCoffee · 20/08/2008 14:48

oh that's brilliant news - now just for that holiday (that I'm quite jealous of)! :-)

scorpio1 · 20/08/2008 14:50

i can't wait...... Dh said yesterday he is looking forward to hanging out with us for a week much wine, bbqs, etc. wonder what attitude towards bf is in public out there??
