Well, it was great to get out and about and i feel a little better. 2 mums at baby group are 12 weeks pg - their babes are 5 months....eek!

DH has gone thai-boxing, but when he gets home im off to the PUB yay!!!

Sal22 · 22/07/2008 18:20

Glad you had a good day, Scorpio. Have fun tonight!

scorpio1 · 22/07/2008 18:21

i will, lol i am a very cheap date though- cannot drink more than one glass of wine! Just meeting a couple of girlfriends for some drinks and a catch up

We are going out to watch mamma mia too later on in the week!

scorpio1 · 22/07/2008 18:22

BTW Meet-up:

Will be in London on 15th August until 17th

VictorianSqualor · 22/07/2008 19:05

I look really fat! It was a flouncy skirt! Promise!

Sal, that is GREAT!!! so pleased for you.

OP posts:
Sal22 · 22/07/2008 19:57

You look great!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help (and everyone's support) today. I honestly didn't realise how much I wanted him to breastfeed as well - I was completely gutted when I thought it's all over, and if it wasn't for you I would have stopped trying. I just felt defeated this morning. Maybe it's becasuse I had to compromise on everything else relating to his birth this far, I couldn't exclusively bf, and then the last little thing that I could do the way I wanted, I almost ruined. I'll stop now , but thanks again.

eva07 · 22/07/2008 20:06

vs, don't be stupid, you don't look fat, you look great!
I can't belive this woman said such a thing to you, even if it was years ago.
by the way, I consider you my personal bfc too thanks to your advice I'm getting one whole night sleep per week

VictorianSqualor · 22/07/2008 21:10

awww

You're doing great Sal, as is Roelof, just hang in there. As I said, if you want to exclusively breastfeed it is possible to get back to it, it has even been suggested that after a few weeks of exclusive breastfeeding baby regains the virgin gut so it is almost like they never had any formula.

I'd happily be everyone's personal breastfeeding counsellor!!!

How are you getting that night eva? I hope you're making the most of it and getting a bath, wine and choccy in first

TBH that woman actually said to 'put yer fucking tits away' but I couldn't say that on the radio or in the paper!!

OP posts:
LadyBee · 22/07/2008 22:32

Sal - WELL DONE!!! am very proud of you and Roelof. I wonder whether he likes that vertical position just because he's gotten used to similar positions with bottles? Or maybe he was suffering a bit of reflux when he was feeding laying down?? Maybe that's why he was fidgeting/fussing before?
Anyway, I hope tomorrow goes ok - if you want a bit of moral support, let me know I'd be happy to pop around

Hope you've had a fab evening out Scorpio - and hope things work out ok with the testing, whichever way it goes

I'm starting to unswaddle for DS's naps but am still doing it for nightsleep as he definitely sleeps more soundly when he's swaddled.

Sal22 · 22/07/2008 23:03

Thanks, Ladybee. I'm going to lock myself in again tomorrow to try and get my milk supply up again, but thank you for the offer of support. Hmm, might call on it another day, then we can celebrate with some properly unhealthy chocolate cake (and Rooibos tea to compensate). xxx

A side note (and I know luckily it doesn't indicate how much he can get out): It's so annoying - even after 10 mins I only have 20 or so mls of milk expressed. Oh, where are the superboob days???

eva07 · 23/07/2008 10:15

sal, that's great news!

vs, you said it was ok to express even if nora wants to feed shortly after. I always thought she wouldn't get enough but you resolved my doubts (this phrase sounds funny. had to look it up in the dictionary, hope I took the correct translation... ) and now dp does one night a week completely on his own with ebm

VictorianSqualor · 23/07/2008 10:27

Ah, yes. I remember now.

I love American Ebay!
I just bought a mei tai inc. p&p for £24

they're £50ish without p&p on uk ebay!

OP posts:
LadyBee · 23/07/2008 10:46

I've never been brave enough to consider buying anything from US ebay - speaking of which must do the feedback on the clothes bundles I bought recently - finally picked them up from Post Office yesterday (I HATE royal mail, our useless delivery centre don't answer their phone, and refuse to acknowledge the web redelivery requests, so had to trek out there)
Haven't sorted through them yet, in fact, haven't opened the packages yet DS has been a bit limpet-like and hugely hungry since Monday. Seems happy enough when he's being held and makes it very clear if I've stopped feeding too soon, so I guess it just a phase.

I just wish all this feeding would let him sleep a bit longer at night - even with dreamfeed he's waking after 4.5 hours...those few days when he did 6, 7 hr stretches seem very long ago.

scorpio1 · 23/07/2008 10:47

I had a nice night last night, yay! Baby massage was cancelled today so am chilling out at home.

Sal22 · 23/07/2008 10:55

Morning, all.

Ladybee, I'm with you on the regular waking up - Roelof did 8, 12, 2:30 and sometime (DH did that feeding) this morning. Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have bragged about the sleeping-through-the-night bit so early...

He's been sucking a little more this morning (not enough for feeding, but at least he sucks!) It's even easier than yesterday - he'll start sucking while I stand and rock, and then if I sit down slowly, continue while I sit. What a relief.

I want to do VS's dinner suggestion tonight. Suitably quick and easy, but sounds great.
I should also do some stew sometime, as I've got veg that'll go off and it makes me feel so guilty to see how much perfectly fine food goes to waste in our place lately. Maybe tomorrow, can't be bothered today.

VS, that's a bargain! I always wondered if they'll add import duty or anything. But I guess even if they do, it'll be a lot cheaper than here.

Sal22 · 23/07/2008 10:57

Oh no, Scorpio, sorry to hear about the baby massage. Would this have been your first class? (Sorry, can't remember.) Glad you had a good time last night!

VictorianSqualor · 23/07/2008 10:58

I'd never bought from us ebay before either but this was a buy it now from a sellers shop, rather than an auction item so feels safer iyswim.

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 23/07/2008 10:59

i did baby massage with Jamie, but i cant carry on the course this time anyway because the school holidays start on thursday - no childcare for Reilly. Never mind!

Its a lovely day here.

sagitta · 23/07/2008 11:58

Peachy Thanks for the advice. The consultant told me cheese first, then yoghurt, and milk last. I had spent a few days giving her tiny bits of edam, and she had slightly red swollen lips, but she told me that her friend had hit her at nursery which was why it was like that. But she is a very unreliable source...
I didn't know fromage frais was the worst thing so l'll leave that for a bit!
So would you suggest something like macaroni cheese, so its cooked dairy, with not much cheese?

sagitta · 23/07/2008 11:58

Why can't I use MN properly? Peachy

PeachyBAHons · 23/07/2008 12:08

that would be an excellent pre-cheese option

but before that go for biscuits with milk in, then either a baked custard (if you know for sure there's no egg allergy), or even a cocoa drink would do- the milk has to have reached boiling point is all.

We see a (funded for us) private dietician so I get hours discussing best practice LOL, she's a fairly good friend too really

sagitta · 23/07/2008 13:31

Thanks! One more question, then I'll leave you alone! Could I give her normal milk to drink, which had been boiled first?

Still allergic to eggs, sadly.

Sal22 · 23/07/2008 15:29

Hi everyone! I just want to share my great news: He's been drinking, properly drinking, on me for the last 20 minutes! . I realise supply will take a while, but sucking seems back on track! Sorry, will stop the exclamations now, but I'm just so excited.

What are you all doing today? Not much to report here - spent the day so far half-naked, getting all broody again (I blame his breath in my neck... Does things to the hormones, you see.)

PeachyBAHons · 23/07/2008 15:30

you can try with the normal, if she doesn't react to the boiled I think.

PeachyBAHons · 23/07/2008 15:33
