Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SalLikesCoffee · 18/08/2008 12:22

Lol, loving your name, (ISI)VS! So that's what you were doing this morning...

IShaggedInVictorianSqualor · 18/08/2008 12:36

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

No.

I changed it for a different thread.

DonDons · 18/08/2008 12:50

Sal - yanbu - I asked DH to take DD for second set for exactly the same reasons - and also as I have a pathological fear of needles and don't want my anxiety to transfer to her. (I sobbed at the first injections).

Thanks Denny - how do you 'make' them sneeze though?

VS

SalLikesCoffee · 18/08/2008 12:58

VS

DonDons, have never tried this when R had a cold, but normally direct sunshine on his face makes him sneeze . However, saying that, might be a bit hard to find that today...

scorpio1 · 18/08/2008 14:03

Hey all

Millie slept through last night, 920 - 915; so we are happy enough here.

DH is being a bit odd though.

LadyBee · 18/08/2008 15:16

hi there, I napped at the same time as DS this morning and it's made quite a difference to how I'm feeling, will try for another sleep this afternoon too.
DS is being quite clingy and odd today, really crying hard for food very quickly, normally he's pretty patient and will let me get things sorted out before feeding him but he's escalating in impatience fast today. But he's very vocal even when not hungry - so maybe it's all part of him finding his voice more?Good thing we're taking it easy today in any case - this weather is not encouraging for outside fun and games.

Thanks for your support, I have recently been getting a lot of 'what if..' thoughts at the moment, stuff like, what if I fall down the stairs when I'm carrying him, what if I let go of the pram at this intersection - it's terrifying because I sort of feel like just by having those thoughts, I'm more likely to do the thing I'm thinking just because it's in my head, power of suggestion or something. Then I cling on more strongly to the handle or bannister, but I feel like I'm almost my own worst enemy at the moment with these worries popping up.

I saw an item on the news today - some woman in egypt has given birth to septuplets
Apparently the government has promised the family free nappies and milk for 2 years. It's not clear whether fertility drugs were involved or not. Even if they were, can you imagine how weird that must have felt? All those limbs

SalLikesCoffee · 18/08/2008 15:42

Good grief!!! Ok, never complaining again! Can you image - guess there'll be no point going to bed, you might as well stay up, because one of them will be hungry/dirty/lonely...

Ladybee, glad that you're resting as much as possible and feeling a bit better. You do sound a little blue, so try and be on the lookout if it gets worse (maybe tell dh how you're feeling). If it gets worse or if in doubt, see your gp sooner rather than later, because I can imagine that those thoughts (which are natural on it's own) must be a bit upsetting. I can't remember whether you said about contraception, but it might also be the hormones having a funny effect on you, which is pretty common (and could then be changed by gp). xxx

Scorpio, what's up with DH? Do you think it's the fight stress?

scorpio1 · 18/08/2008 15:44

Lbee - do keep an eye on it....

Sal - i think he is very tired; work, training, all of us....y'know?

SalLikesCoffee · 18/08/2008 15:49

That's understandable (but no less difficult), I guess. Hope it gets better.

scorpio1 · 18/08/2008 15:51

He just seems to be a little down, that's all. Says he is tired, which i totally get!

Mimi is in little dungarees today - in the middle of August!!!

SushiMama · 18/08/2008 16:01

Hey all!
DD's been very clingy and ratty since yesterday. Usually she will play by herself, but now she won't even let me eat. Yesterday I was kind of afraid that she might have some premonitions cos DH was in Florida Keys where they had the hurricane evacuation watch.

But I think it's just a phase she's going through, hopefully rather quickly.

Needing to get her some bottles for feeding, in preparation for going back to work...sigh

I don't think i'm quite right.
Am now sitting here in floods of tears for absolutely no reason except for thinking I might have PND or be reacting badly to cerezette (mini-pill), and I KNOW that it's not my fault but feel like it's another way that I've failed as a 'good' woman/mother.
And can't bring myself to start bath, because am scared of thoughts about drowning.

shit.

SalLikesCoffee · 18/08/2008 18:03

MommyHasaHeadache - I bought them here, and they were £110.00. This sounds rediculously expensive (or for me anyway, I don't do designer clothes), but they are worth every penny. They look nice, hides a flabby tummy (not that you'd need that, but for me), and are SO comfortable and soft, yet look like proper jeans. I'd never wear anything else again.

Urgh, tonight... No, I'm not overly impressed with myself - am going with dark jeans, (at least) nice shoes, dark brown/grey 3/4 length wrap top thing. Boring really, but couldn't find anything I really liked in person and this was safe. Living life on the edge, me.

Oh, I'm so glad I mentioned the jabs to you guys - now I don't feel so bad anymore. I'll go with him. Hehehe, the nurse will so think pfb, but hey, he is that after all!

IShaggedInVictorianSqualor · 18/08/2008 18:14

LadyBee, stop taking the pill, NOW.
Call your Gp in the morning and get an appointment straight away.
Tell them everything you've told us and see what they say.
Mention the pill, and that two people in your ante-natal group(me&scorpio) (they don't need to know it's online) had weird side effects from the pill.
Hopefully the gp will suggest coming off the pill, leaving it for a week or so to see how you feel when not on it and then go back for AD's if not better.

SalLikesCoffee · 18/08/2008 18:32

Oh Ladybee, I'm so so sorry, x-posts. Are you ok? Are you alone? Please please please call me if you need company, doesn't matter what time - I don't want to go to that stupid work thing anyway. I'm leaving for it now, but will be boring anyway, so call me if you're alone and just want someone to bring you cups of tea or something.
Call the doctor first thing tomorrow morning.

scorpio1 · 18/08/2008 18:34

STOP TAKING IT

Tell someone near to you as well that you are feeling this way.

It all stopped for me about 3 days later, i got back to 'normal'.

Peachy · 18/08/2008 20:48

Ladybee hugs

the pill can be nasty as you know- don't know if you read when i posted about it ages ago, but when i started taking the pill years ago (many) I also reacyed- and took an overdose. bloody miracle I am satill here.

You are not a failure, you are a great capable woman. At worst you react to a medication. Big deal!

See the gp tomorrow. Please

SushiMama · 18/08/2008 21:29

LadyBee, please go to the GP tomorrow morning even if you think you feel better. Tell them everything, like (ISI)VS suggests. Hope you feel better soon. Hugs

Regarding jabs, I've also asked DH to take her for the 3rd lot. We were both there for the first, and the miserable nurse wasn't too pleased that we were so "excited" about it, being first jabs and all. So I went by myself for the 2nd, and didn't like the fact that I might transfer my fear of needles to her. So luckily DH will do the 3rd lot!

MHAH- DH was in Miami for a conference, and went to Key West for the weekend. I did ask him to check on the hurricanes but he pooh-poohed me. He's ok though, he evacuated really early in the morning, probably more afraid that I'd say told you so, than the hurricane!

Hope the night out goes ok Sal!

Denny185 · 18/08/2008 21:32

Ladybee, second what everyone else is saying, go see your GP, you sound so low at the moment. Def worth telling DH whats going on aswell.

Well today turned into a bit of an ordeal in the end. Turned up at the GPs for injections at 1.30 as requested, unfortunately all 3 in tow as DH at work, 2.30 we finally went in for jabs, the third needle was the straw that broke the camels back and she howled the place down. So after finally getting out at 2.45 thought Id take kids to soft play as they had been good and peeing with rain only to pull up and a friend came over to say it was shut so we all ended up driving 25 miles to another one, not quite what Id had in mind for the afternoon.

Quite annoyingly if the health authority had sent letters at the correct time we would have been having jabs last week (apparently no-one sent for last week, so 4 members of staff sat in an empty clinic) and the other 2 could have stayed home with dad. Still they are done now and she is fine so thats it till 12 months.

soph28 · 18/08/2008 22:52

Hi All. Sorry I've been such a stranger! (you can forgive me I'm sure- I think 3 under 3 (almost) is an acceptable excuse )

Ladybee- haven't read all the posts but I have had really bad mood swings on the pill in the past and that was pre-kids (i.e. pre-stress) and haven't been back on it since.

Robyn went thru a really difficult patch- crying/colicky/difficult to feed etc so I have given up dairy and she is a different baby- result!

She can roll over now from her tummy to her back, sucks her thumb and is beginning to grab toys and bring them to her mouth. Can't believe she's not 4 mths yet and I can't leave her alone on a sofa or bed in case she rolls off!

She's meant to have 2nd jags tomorrow but we're all full of the cold- well all except Toby who never seems to get a cold- so I think I will postpone till next week.

Denny- It is an ordeal dragging 3 of them down to the clinic isn't it? For Robyn's 1st jabs I called in the morning to ask if I could come in later because my older 2 nap after lunch so I was told I could come in at 2.30pm, so I woke them up from their sleep got them down there and was told that there were no immunisations that day, they were tomorrow!!! I used to live in Cheshire (Flintshire actually- Pontybodkin!)

Must go to bed. Can't wait to get up for the night feed with this stinking cold (cos I normally love it when I don't have a cold

Denny185 · 18/08/2008 23:02

They are ob great at organising jabs throughout Cheshire then. Hope you are all feeling better soon.

SushiMama · 18/08/2008 23:15

Hi all, anyone got any suggestions please? here Thanks

SalLikesCoffee · 18/08/2008 23:56

Hello. Had a nice night out, and felt good after all.

Labybee, how are you feeling now? Thought about you all night, and how you offered to come and keep me company when I was down when the breastfeeding went a bit wrong - please shout if you want company. Or if not company, I can also deliver chocolates, so please shout if you just want something nice.
Hoping you're sleeping already, but if not, good night.

Roelof's teeth seems to really cause havoc now... He's been having funny nappies all night, and dh said he's been extremely difficult all night. Hey ho, poor thing can't really go through life with no teeth, so guess I'll just have to grin and bare it (and pray for speed on teeth development...)

Hmm, slightly too much wine (or really just 2, but I'm such a lightweight these days), so off to bed now.

IShaggedInVictorianSqualor · 19/08/2008 08:52

I've been really lucky with Alex's jabs. The first time he went I had to take DS1 for his booster too and I had booked it for 4:30, expecting DP to be off work for the afternoon, he couldn't get off and as the doctors is next to the school I was there for about 3:45.
We have to sign in for appointments on this touchscreen thingy but the appointments don't come up until around half an hour before so I told reception I was there, explained I was early but I was going to feed DS2 and both the GP and nurse said they'd see me early.
Second lot of jabs was just for Alex and I went on the day of the baby clinic so said I was going to get him weighed and come back down (I was about 15 minutes early for the injections) and the nurse said she'd see me straight away.
