OMaLittle - thanks for that! I will pass on the info. I checked my email before I checked Mumsnet, so responded to your email asking questions you answered here. Thanks again!

LadyBee · 19/08/2008 14:26

Hiya
Scorpio I think you should give it a go - it might work out fine and then you'll have a bit of extra cash, plus a starting point for recent work exp. if you decide later you want to work more, and as it's temporary and it sounds reasonably flexible, you should be able to tell them what you're available for and what you're not. What is it that's making you feel nervous? Remember they're asking for people to work for them, they need you more than you need them. It's not like you're going to them cap in hand begging for a job

GP appt was good. I had been trying to rehearse what I would say to 'convince' dr I needed help, but it turns out pushing a buggy into the room, sitting down and bursting into tears is enough. She just said, 'oh dear, do you think you might have postnatal depression?', at which i managed to laugh through my tears and reply 'is it that obvious?'
She went through all the questions and I described how I'd been feeling and then she asked me what I wanted out of the appointment, which stumped me a bit. I thought about it and said that I wanted to come up with a plan so that I felt it was acknowledged and that steps were being taken to help me, so we agreed that I would stop taking pill, and she has referred me for counselling immediately because of my feelings about emergency c-section (she thought that could be a separate issue getting mixed in), and I'm booked to return for follow-up in a week or so.
I'm pleased with how it went.
I'm not sure how much I'll be on MN in the next little bit, thanks for encouraging me to take this seriously. Cross fingers for me that coming off the pill helps.

gemprincess · 19/08/2008 14:29

glad you are getting some help ladybee, just be kind to yourself and take care..x

IShaggedInVictorianSqualor · 19/08/2008 14:33

Birth trauma could definitely be a big part of it. Glad you've seen someone.
Search for threads I'm on with 'birth trauma support' in the title. You'll find a support thread I started a week or two ago.

Gemprincess so glad to see you're back There have been quite a few people who pretty much disappeared from ante-natal but I've been hoping you (and ThePFJ) would be back to tell us how Ashton (and Jack, if ThePFJ is reading) is.

scorpio1 · 19/08/2008 14:33

gp sounds good, LB. i agree in giving it a week - if it was just the pill then it will give it chance to go away, rather than covering it up with ad's.

We are here if you need us - but if you start thinking 'bad' things, tell someone in RL.

i knew i had to stop taking the pill when i pictured my blood running down the plughole in the shower. i told dh there and then.

take care xx

scorpio1 · 19/08/2008 14:34

oooh yes, hi gem

thought of you the other day

Hope pfj does check in.

SalLikesCoffee · 19/08/2008 15:05

Sounds like you've got a lovely and supportive gp. Good on you for taking quick steps as well. Will miss your posts (especially the late-night ones!), but will chat again when you're ready and things quieter.

Hi Gemprincess. Phew, sounds like you had a busy couple of months! And that with 4 kids!

Well, R had his jabs and everything went fine. (Except that I realised too late that he's just had a dirty nappy as we were entering the office...) Oh well, I'm sure they've seen (or smelt) worse.

gemprincess · 19/08/2008 15:06

Hi Vs and scorpio, Ashton is ok, he suffered some set backs in his first few weeks which have put him back in hospital a couple of times.we had to learn baby resuss and endure many peoples so called medical opinions!!!As it stands now it is just a matter ot waiting and seeing how his development goes.his jaw has grown and that is good news, i think his fontenelle is shrinking as it was exaggerated but they are still keeping an eye on it. he is having probs with weaning as he is gagging, so just holding off at moment.sorry tryin to type with 1 hand and listen to the 3 girls playin upstairs.

Peachy · 19/08/2008 16:10

oh Gem , hope he recovers or at the very least you get answers- answers matter, they really do! Welcome back.

Bas just had his final jabs- hurrah! (not having mmr, will get separates ut not at our surgery. The substitute hv (very nice) showed me his chart etry from the hospital,,,, which was entered wromg! He hadn't fallen ff the centile, they put iyt on the wrong age ffs! So he's atill on centile- 0.4th true, but he's there!

But the weaning is working for Bas (though as has been said, would only suggest early if with paed advice)-

8 oz this week

scorpio1 · 19/08/2008 16:11

wow!! what are you feeding him - McNuggets, lol

Peachy · 19/08/2008 16:12

Um yeah- is there aoblem with that?

just fruit, veg etc with lots f butternut, avocado and banana for carbs

scorpio1 · 19/08/2008 16:15

you starting????

sounds yum. used to do sweet pot & apple puree for mine.

SalLikesCoffee · 19/08/2008 16:18

Yay for Bas!!! Shocked at wrong entry, glad it's corrected now.

Denny185 · 19/08/2008 16:58

Bollocks just lost last entry, basically, yeah 4 Bas, Ladybee hope u r feeling better soon, job sounds good Scorpio and welcome back Gemprincess glad Ashton seems to be doing OK

MommyHasaHeadache · 19/08/2008 17:01

LadyBee - thinking of you and hoping all is well. We will all be here ready to support you as and when you need us.

Welcome back GemPrincess. Sounds like you have been through the mills. Hugs for you.

Mmm these purees you ladies are concocting sound yummy! Maybe the whole weaning thing won't be as scary as I thought!

Peachy - I am shocked that they got his entry so wrong - what a relief though. I'm glad the weaning is working for him! He looks a right little cutie from his pics! The top one makes me Peachy, I am also thinking of getting separates done for Gigi - have you done this with your other boys as well?

Glad R's jabs went okay Sal. I am so glad these are the last lot for a while!

scorpio1 · 19/08/2008 17:56

I have always just had the conventional MMR for my boys, and Mimi will be the same.

Mimi is due for her 3rd set next week, must ring docs.

No Farking hot water here AGAIN aarrrggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

SalLikesCoffee · 19/08/2008 18:34

It's quite scary how with babies (and all children really I can imagine) you have to make these decisions that affects their lives, some permanently, and sometimes I just think "but what do I know???" And you can read up as much as you want, but for loads of things there are as many arguments one way as there are another (thinking about the MMR issue, but can really be applied to anything, from working, nursery, school, feeding, you name it!) I just try and read up as much as I can, but mainly hope and pray for the best!

Thanks MHAH. I was sitting there (went with dh in the end) breathing a sigh of relief, saying how glad I was that this is it for the next year, to be cruelly reminded by the nurse that the next ones are due in 7 months! And then one month later the MMR!!! (She said the MMR is currently being done earlier because of the measles outbreak, but that the timing thereof might be changed back later if it's under control again. Weird how measles outbreaks was something I haven't ever thought about.)

What's with the hot water, Scorpio? Sorry, am sure you must have said before, but my brain's extremely mushy lately...

Peachy · 19/08/2008 18:35

The others had the standard MMR, and Bas would except that it's obvious we are a susceptible family- and the picture is more fuzzy onsafety I beleive for hose with a clear risk factor; Bas is something like a hundred tmes more likely than the average child to develop ASD.

I don't necesarily believe there is a link- but I kn ow I have to do everything I can to avoid a third diagnosis iyswim? If he is then so be it. He will be cherished like theothers, but his life will be so much better if not. Does that amke sense?

scorpio1 · 19/08/2008 18:45

it does, Peachy

Sal - our boiler has been playing up for a while; some idiot man came to fix it today and left saying that we had hot water - i went to run DH a bath (late home, had to go training in 20 minutes, save him time)and it was cold! Boiler broken. rang emergency people and they said we dont do callouts in the summer. Someone will be here AGAIN tomorrow, i wanted to get out and about tomorrow as well.

Reilly is at school 'forces' day and Jamie in nursery - peace!

Sal - you will find along the way so many decisions, etc. We dont always get it right all the time; you cant. Especially when i just ahd R, i used to ask Mum alot of stuff. Now i pretty much know what im doing; but sometimes need advice. Things are different with every child too - BF this time for me.

SalLikesCoffee · 19/08/2008 18:56

Oh that sucks big time, Scorpio. Hope it gets sorted this time. How silly - no callouts in summer. So what, you just hose your children off in the garden, should you??? (Being overly dramatic here, but still think it's silly.

Peachy, makes perfect sense. You sound like such a good mom (which you obviously are, but nice and warm feeling reading your post).

I started looking at high chairs the other day - wow, I thought the choice was rediculous with buggies... Think I found one that we both really like though, so now I just have to keep myself in control - we won't need it for at least another month, so no point really to buy it now for it to just take up space. But I'm like a child now, want it NOW.

SalLikesCoffee · 19/08/2008 19:01

With Scorpio's weight loss as an inspiration I went to Tesco for some healthier snacks shopping earlier. They had Ben & Jerries at half price. I ate a tub of Bohemian Raspberry on my own. I think it's safe to say my diet's not going as planned...

scorpio1 · 19/08/2008 19:05

lol

i have been doing an hour on wii fit too 6 days a week.

MommyHasaHeadache · 19/08/2008 19:07

The MMR is an issue with me too. Apparently after my measles injection (didn't get MMR in Zimbabwe in those days), my personality changed dramatically, so it makes me nervous with all the hoo ha surrounding the MMR to give Gigi it. I know they say there isn't necessarily a link, but I am not taking any chances. I am quite happy to pay for all 3 individually and hope that she doesn't react to them.

Which high chair have you gone for Sal?

Denny185 · 19/08/2008 19:29

LOL Sal, hope u r feeling suitably ill

DS and DD1 both had normal MMR. DD1 was quite ill following it high temps/vomiting etc for several days but she was quite a sickly child till about 3 anyway so that could have been the cause of her reaction. I did consider separates for DS but the nearest place was Manchester and they were having supply problems with the mumps vaccine at the time hence the combined. He was a bit poorly after but not as severe. Neither appear to have any long term probs from it though. Will give combined to DD2 aswell.

SalLikesCoffee · 19/08/2008 20:43

MommyHasaHeadache - we're going for the Svan high chair. We're going to buy the one in "cherry".

I have to admit, might have over done it with the ice cream... Feel slightly odd.
