I'm back from baby bouce & rhyme, good fun and so nice to get out and do something different - I was starting to go a bit stir crazy.
I found a fabric store on my way home, so I've bought 5m muslin and am going to make some big swaddling cloths tomorrow - but I also found this site which sells them. There are also diagrams for a swaddle wrap on the site - a bit more complicated than I normally do but it looks like it might control the arms more so might try it.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with a damp baby - my DP gets what he calls 'tea sweats' on his forehead after drinking or eating and babybee often gets the same thing. Weird thing to inherit

Ooh I'd LOVE to be close to water - I'm just going to have to content myself with taking DS swimming as soon he's done with his immunisations. at the thought of me getting into bathing suit though.

Hope all those not feeling 100% start to mend soon.
Hi Bearmama and nice to hear from you Scampmum -

Can't decide whether to head out tomorrow and just mooch around Greenwich a bit or to stay home and try to work out what Babybee is up to now. His sleep/eat pattern seems to be shifting and I think spending a day just observing what he does and not making my assumptions about what he 'should' be doing at each time, might be worthwhile. Will think about it. The temptation of greenwich cafes is pretty big. And I've been very good at resisting cake for several days now.

scorpio1 · 24/07/2008 18:51

lol VS at you in that pic - you look v fed up!

Me 39 weeks heregod i look so tired there!

Millie is 12lb 6oz today so putting on steadily again. yay!

Sal22 · 24/07/2008 19:41

Greenwich Ladybee, Greenwich . Seriously, if you fancy Greenwich, do you want some company? I've been locking myself up lately and could do with some cake! Anyone else that's around and not busy, the more the merrier. There's a lovely coffee shop just down the hill from me - great choc cake.

VictorianSqualor · 24/07/2008 20:21

I keep forgetting how big Alex actually is!
He was 15lb 5 last wednesday(13.1 weeks)

Hello everyone, I was out today meeting Cali, another MNetter which was lovely. My first "real" (ie social) trip out with the carseat and buggy as opposed to boring old shopping.

DD is 16 weeks on Saturday and and weighs about 14lb now. She had her pavlik harness off two weeks and has gone from strength to strength.

Really excited tonight because she self-settled for the first time. We have had three nights of overtired screaming because I was lax with nap times.
So following a very useful post on the sleep thread I tried not to let her go too long without a nap.

Big difference!

VictorianSqualor · 24/07/2008 22:24

Califrau?
Are you in America then?
Or is it a different Cali?

LadyBee · 24/07/2008 23:34

I'll contact you Sal - think probably a yes to Greenwich but will see how I go tomorrow.

Night night.

bearmama · 25/07/2008 00:33

VS - different Cali. Up here in sunny Scotland

VictorianSqualor · 25/07/2008 08:44

Mum2BabyRoo!!
Happy birthday have some of the birthday breakfast I cooked DP

DS1 is a little bleeder!

Starts off by showing DP the card he ahs under his pillow to give to Dad in the morning when he is being tucked in.

Get's up this morning and starts on with 'Daaaaaad, we've got balloons' whilst I'm cocooned in the kitchen I hear 'Mum's making pancakes' 'Do you like syrup on your pancakes, mummy bought you some special' 'We have cakes too' .....

Alex has decided it's time to start sleeping on his belly and no matter how many times I turn him back he goes back over.

happy birthday Mum2BabyRoo, have a nice day!

it's DP's birthday today too, and it started with N making a big poo on him during nappy change

Sal22 · 25/07/2008 09:23

Happy birthday, Mum2BabyRoo!!!

Had to laugh at VS's DS1 and Eva's N's contributions to the festivities!

Seems to be the general day for birthdays then - I'm meeting a friend tonight for her birthday dinner, with DH looking after R. I still don't have a gift for her though, and no idea what I should get... Will do a trip down to the market later in search of something.

sagitta · 25/07/2008 11:15

Happy Birthday mum2baby roo - and everyone else who is having a birthday!

For those of you with kittens, my neighbour has just asked if I want one. Is it difficult with the baby etc?

This morning I was a bit because I was finding life a bit difficult - so would it be a stupid idea to get a kitten as well and add to my woes?

VictorianSqualor · 25/07/2008 11:25

No. not hard at all, how old is the kitten? Mum should've toilet trained it by now anyway, so just use the same litter as they have been and it'll be fine.
Be quite rough and tumble with it but if it attacks put it out of the room and ignore it, that way once LO is crawling and pulls it about (which they will, my two have probably used 8 of Chi's 9 lives) it'll just take it or walk off instead of scratching. DS1 pulls chi to pieces and Chi just takes it or bats him away with her paw (claws closed rather than ready to attack) though DS1 thinks that she gives him high 5's

TheMaskedPoster · 25/07/2008 11:47

ooooo Happy birthday Mum2BabyRoo, hope you have a marvy day!

Sal22 · 25/07/2008 11:50

lol at high five

I love cats as well. Such peaceful company.

Sal22 · 25/07/2008 12:13

Do you think once they're strong enough to roll over it matters if they sleep on their tummies anymore? Why I ask - Roelof's started sleeping on his side from last night, and as VS, I've tried turning him on his back, just for him to turn to his side again. I suspect it's not long before he'll start the tummy. I guess I could use those "no-roll" things that we used when he was tiny, but if it doesn't matter I'd rather him be in his preferred position.

VictorianSqualor · 25/07/2008 12:17

I posted a thread about this last night Sal cos I was so paranoid about SIDS before I wanted to reassure myself so it didn't kick off again iyswim.

here

OP posts:
Sal22 · 25/07/2008 12:43

Ah, thanks a lot! Well, I'll keep him in his growbag for a couple of nights and see how it goes.

sagitta · 25/07/2008 13:36

The HV told me last time that it was fine - once they can roll over its OK for them to do as they please. But if you are worried call: 0207 233 2090 which is the SIDS advice line. They are really sweet and helpful. or look at www.fsid.org.uk

I cannot get A into any sort of day routine. She only sleeps for about 30 mins at a time, and feeds completely randomly. I am trying to do some work today, so its a nightmare. Any advice or tips would be most welcome!

Sal22 · 25/07/2008 13:53

Sagitta, no advice or tips, but good luck! Every now and again I get so confident and seriously consider working again, but then, with days like the last week, I'm sure it'll be really really hard, even if I can manage to do it from home. Do you have any childcare around or do you work while A's sleeping?

sagitta · 25/07/2008 15:09

It's only today, I've got one work thing I promised to do. I work from home usually anyway, and with dd1 I worked when she was asleep from about 8 weeks. But A is a different baby, and I am not sure she's going to let me do that
But if I put her into nursery, she's going to have to get into a routine first...

VictorianSqualor · 25/07/2008 15:23

No she isn't. You're paying for her childcare, they can follow her routine. Bobby's nursery did (he was 9 months but totally out of sync with the rest of the nursery).

Alex has no real daytime routine tbh, we just go with the flow.
I like it like that
DP has gone to hand in his car as he's finished work there now and then is out for his leaving do so I have wine, ice-cream, popcorn, big bag of crisps etc

OP posts:
sagitta · 25/07/2008 15:58

Congrats to your DP, VS.

That's encouraging about nursery - I thought she would have to be doing stuff when they needed.

LadyBee · 25/07/2008 16:02

Nice, I am also making preparations for nice evening but yet toget the wine into fridge.
