Morning ladies. Glad its not just my wriggly little monster then.
His routine at noght is all over the place. It used to be tea at 6-bottle savoury and pudding. Bed at 7.15. Bottle at 4 am wake at 7am. Which suited us all perfectly.
Now its tea at 6 as usual, bed at 7.15 as usual then bottle at 1am, bottle at 5.30 am stay awake till he makes enough noise for Mummy or Daddy to get him up . Its killing me !!
This too shall pass. Ds4 didn't sleep through 7-7 till he was 10 months old so I know it will happen one day.
Just housework nd washing planned today so having a day at home.
Hope you all have a good one xxx

lilyloo · 14/08/2008 12:53

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

sorry but i am exhausted and i need some sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The last week dd has been up virtually every 2 hours and will only feed back to sleep!
Last night i tried water , shush , pat and even cc but caved in as it was taking us longer to get her to sleep than she was staying asleep before next wake up!

I just don't know what to do. Yesterday she refused her bf nearly all day only having one milk feed which isn't surprising given she is having so much through the night.

Do you think if i brought her tea forward she would be any better ? She currently has it at 5.30 with us ?

She is then more whiny in the day due to being tired. She stays in her cot and has her naps in there. She is never fed to sleep in the day so don't understand the association at night ?

Out of interest are all the poor sleepers still bf ? As i am getting strong stop bf vibes now from dp!

Oh well enough me!

Kelix , Rockdoctor yeah i am up for meet up. It would take me about 45 min to get to Preston so if it when dc's back at school a Thursday/Friday better for me as dd1 at nursery. It would also have to be morning as i would have to be back to collect ds from school. I don't know any places in Preston it just where i went to uni so know the town centre etc. Any reccomendations ? Isabellas could you make it ?

Lucky agree with the others or even just point out to hv she not even 8 mths yet. They usually ok about rearranging apts!

Lol at all the lo's on the move it makes everything so difficult doesn't it.

I got some of the heinz baby pasta today and the cook at home sauce. DD just wolfed it for her dinner with a bread stick

Am at all those off on hols! MM and Simpson do you both go Fri ? Nicky when do you go? If so have lovely time.
I love Malta Housemum ds is desperate to go back there

Gingeme my favourite saying 'this will pass' as it did when ds was 3 and i was a virtual walking zombie

JKS great news on the sleeping front!
La Trucha any good news form you ? I know we are all still bf

Oh well better do some ironing and go and resettle dd and let her now it is nap time and if she doesn't want it i am quite happy to take her place

LaTrucha · 14/08/2008 13:04

Wow! What a lot to catch up on!

Well done JKS - that sounds fab. If I even seem like I'm going to rock and not feed Sabela starts screaming.

Sympathy with all the sleep troubles. After going 7 hours in a row the night before last she woke up every 90 minutes last night . HV on Tuesday advised me to feed more in the mornings to try and adjust her calorie intake (there's enough but at the wrong time of day!). She promptly refused all food for the first time ever! She heard! She understood!

Gingeme- it's tough after you've had good sleep isn't it. Perhpas tougher. I keep thinking 'she's dopne it before, sh'll do it again' but when!

MM - my brother has offered to come and help us paint the house sometime in the next couple of weeks but is not sure of dates yet. Can I keep you posted? If I come, time and place is fine. I'll post my number to you. You must be so conscious of Nathan's development. It sounds great what he did. Sabela is nowhere near that, although sitting well now.

Simpson - sympathy over the whingeing- DD was like that yesterday but gave her extra long nap this morning and is ok now. Could she be tired?

Hello to all - DD squeaking. Must go.

simpson · 14/08/2008 13:05

lilyloo - I go on holiday tomorrow yippee

I have brought DD's tea forward by 30 mins in the evening the last few days. She used to have tea with DS at 5ish then when she went to bed would not have any room for milk so brought it forward to 4.30. She eats loads and now manages 5 ozs of milk in her room before bum hits mattress. She goes to bed 6/6.15 BTW. She settles a lot quicker but unfortunately she wants to start the day earlier so pros & cons for each I guess.

What time does your DD go to bed?

lilyloo · 14/08/2008 13:10

She goes to bed at 7 on the dot. She is fine with this but i just don't think she has enough milk then as she is still full from her tea. I was thinking of giving tea at 4 so she may be hungry at 7 ?

LaTrucha great advice from HV but how do you get more food into them in the morning when they have been snacking all night. They just aren't hungry ?

OP posts:
Housemum · 14/08/2008 13:22

Lilyloo - I am still BF and Amelie is not too bad at sleeping now - over last week she has pretty much dropped the 4am feed - on a good night (5 out of 7) she goes from 8.30 - 7am. Though I am thinking of stopping BF for my convenience - perhaps just doing morning and night then I can wear what I want and not have to think about where I sit to feed her for discretion etc.

Any other BF only + solids on here? Or are all formula/mixed? I'm dead chuffed as never got this far before!

simpson · 14/08/2008 13:24

Lilyloo - I would bring tea forward and see what happens. I wish I could get DD to last till 7 but she is hanging by 6ish. At least then i can concentrate on Ds for a bit. Am hoping to get both Dcs in bed by 6.15 this evening has have got an early start tomorrow. I have also noticed that if I give DD pureed fruit for tea she does not go as long in the night can't be as filling i guess...

LaT - funny you should mention she might be tired. She had only been awake an hour but in desperation put her back in cot and she was out like a light. Sorry to hear last night wasn't so good.

lilyloo · 14/08/2008 13:29

Housemum thanks was getting concerned it was because we still bf so good to know bf babys can sleep through. Would you mind posting your routine for me if that ok ? Thanks.

Simpson i will do can only try. I also wondered if she was too tired for tea at that time as the only meal she really tucks into is lunch.

OP posts:
simpson · 14/08/2008 13:45

lilyloo - the only problem I have sometimes she is too tired to take much bottle at 6ish. It depends when she woke from afternoon nap. Yesterday she woke at 3pm and just about lasted till 6 but refused bottle totally. When she does that i tend to stir her at 7ish when Ds has gone to bed and she will take it but still be sleepy iyswim. (bit like a dream feed I guess but earlier)

gingeme · 14/08/2008 14:56

Oh bloody hell just had the shit from hell !!!! I was in the kitchen washing the lunch stuff. Dh had just gone to work, ds3 on the pc ds4 finnishing his lunch and ds5 in hi walker. Finnished the washing up and was just about to do a loaf when I thought I'd better check on the boys ds4's lunch was all over the floor, cheese, cucumber, raisins, tuc biscuits, tomatoes and half a slice of bread butter side down. Then next to that was only can be described as a pile of shit which had been walked in and squidged across the room and all down ds5's legs and in the seat of his walker . I didn't know weather to laugh or cry. Wiped the pooh up with kitchen roll as best is could while trying to stop ds5 coming at me with the walker, ds4 walking in the pooh some more . Run a quick bath while trying to take ds5's nappy off while he was doing the twist resulting in pooh everywhere. Plonked him in the bath and smothered him in baby bath and washed him from armpits to toes. Forgot to get his towel so had to dry him as best I could with the hand towel which was easy to reach. Put him in his nappy and a vest and plonked him in his Graco thing. Put the tele on in the boys room with a Bob video so they both watched that and mopped the front room floor three times. Put ds5 to bed and left the other two to watch Bob while the floor dried. Finaly put the bread on.
Lifes never dull in this household I can tell ya

simpson · 14/08/2008 15:17

Gingeme -

I felt ill just reading it!!

Thought the poo had been bad in this house DS done poo in overnight nappy and 2 in pants, DD done poo in overnight nappy and 3 more since

LaTrucha · 14/08/2008 15:18

Simpson - I find Sabela getting tired a lot quicker these days. Maybe because they're 'doing' more?

Lilyloo- HV said it might be hard for the first 4-5 days - which it is! But then they should start getting hungrier in the daytime. I'm trying to fit in a snack mid-morning and one at about 4. She has solids at 7.30, 1pm and 6 too. AND I bf. It's getting hard to fit in naps! I thought about writing it all down, but I knew this would make me more frustrated. It's a lot of pureeing though (and a lot of puree to throw away). I bought some today in pots (Brand is called Plum - available in Boots) in case it all got too much for me.

Housemum - would be interested in routine too.

Was very when the visitor asked how she was fed and went 'well there you are then' when I said she was bf. Why is bfing always no..1 on their hit list???????

betterhalf · 14/08/2008 16:12

Hurray! Toby slept fabulously last night. Down at 6.45. Grumbled a bit at 2 but put himself back to sleep, woke for a bottle at 6.30 then slept til 9.30. I feel human again! He has finally learnt how to roll both ways now which helps. No longer getting stuck on his front in his cot which is a relief.

Sorry to hear about the poo filled houaes. Sounds lovely.

gingeme · 14/08/2008 16:19

betterhalf.
made me heave too simpson and you'd have thought I was used to it by now. Still the floor is sparkling now and ds5 had a lovely sleep and is happily playing on the lovely clean floor
Dh doesn't believe me when I say these things only happen when he goes to work someone somewhere don't like me I'm sure

lilyloo · 14/08/2008 16:20

Gingeme

LaTrucha gave her a snack of rice cake and cream cheese befor she gone down for her afternoon nap.
She just getting up now so getting her tea on can only try!

My plan is to get both Dcs in bed by 6.15. What do we reckon??? I think not!!

betterhalf · 14/08/2008 17:41

I wouldn't get too envious. He'll probably give me hell tonight to make up for it!

simpson · 14/08/2008 18:27

Well i did it but had melt down from Ds which always happens when he has been playing with the neighbours kids outside.

Also earlier I was upstairs packing and DD was asleep I thought DS was playing with his cars but when I came back downstairs he had drunk 2 fruitshoots which were supposed to be for a treat if he got bored in the car tomorrow so all that crap and he was bouncing off the walls

justkeepswimming · 14/08/2008 20:28

hi all

well had a good day here (aside from my usual snappishness at poor dh, thinking the pill not agreeing with me but going to keep taking it for a bit longer);
i went back to bed with my book for a bit, we all went to the beach for a (chilly) 45 mins before lunch (ds1 loves digging holes and burying his toes).
came back for warming soup (it IS AUGUST isn't it???!!).
had 'quiet time' as ds1 doesn't nap anymore and ds2 slept for 2 hours. then we headed off on a long overdue & much talked about trip on a ...BUS
ds1 loved it!
we went into town, got his feet measured, i bought that penguin weeble toy (both boys love it ) and we replaced a lost part of the gate we have on ds1's door. then got the bus home again, ds1 in heaven again
then collapsed in a heap!
have managed 5mins on the wii before giving up and watching midsomer murders with wine

gingeme - nice....thank god for Bob...

simpson - prob missed you but have fun on hols, good luck with travelling, and hope your dh is in one piece when you get there!

lilyloo - poor you, i feel your pain, have been there. all i can say is it WILL pass. i'm still bf and ds2 didn't feed from 7-5.30 last night so it can be done.
ignore your dp for now (if you want to keep feeding that is). i was giving myself lots of giving up vibes, well not giving up entirely, just seriously tempted by the thought of a bottle at bedtime. but i held out with ds1 and really want to with d2 too.
advice? well sure you do it already, keep things dark and quiet, no nappy changes unless absolutely necessary, etc. if you decide not to feed pick one strategy and stick with it for a few nights at least. and get dp on board.
good luck.

LaT- i think the prob with pick up/put down with bf babies is you bring them close to the breast, let them smell the milk, then take them away again. poor things that's why i'm going with cc. just reach into the cot and pat them and say shush lots.
fingers crossed it works again tonight.....

Housemum - well done on getting this far good luck with keeping going.

Betterhalf - well done Toby hope he's got the idea now.

right, long enough!

nicky6 · 14/08/2008 20:40

we go to morocco on 23rd.

went out for lunch with a friend today and i cut up with a knife some spag bol i was having and charlie ate it up quite happily - very pleased as the whole switching to lump thing is going well and it means whilst on holiday might be easier to give her our food. ROutines I know I am not doing what they say you are meant to but hv says dont worry about it she's still on the 75th for height and weight so all good. I dont give any snacks or extra milk bottles!

I give her cereal then bottle at 8.30 then 12.30 lunch of meat/fish and veg and potato then yoghurt and drink of water then tea at 4.30 piece of toast and cheese and then fruit puree pot normally organix and then little bit of bottle then 6.45 bottle.

Charlie goes down at 7.15 and normally sleeps til 7.30 or so.
So it seems to work ok for her.

actually had a few days of her waking at 6 talking to herself for 30-45 mins then going back to sleep til 8, I simply cant get out of bed at 6 bad mummy.

ANyway dont worry about 8 month check its only a short time then you can go home and ignore them.

Charlie will be 7 months on the day we go on holiday and is beginning to sit quite well. cant believe how quickly the time is flying.

sending good sleep and small sweet smelling poo vibes to all

simpson · 14/08/2008 20:52

Hi

Well DD managed to sit on her own for about 10 seconds this evening

Am hoping when she can do more ie sit and play with toy by herself she won't want me so much.

Just been speaking to people next door and their DD is 9mths and is walking

Pretty much finished all the packing just got things like toothbrushes etc in the morning and making Dd's bottles for the day and Ds's packed lunch. My family are coming at 7am so an early start for me. Probably shouldn't be on the wine but the way DD has been lately I need it!!!

Nicky - very jealous of your DD being able to eat what you do. I tried DD with some cauliflower cheese this eve that Ds was eating and she wouldn't have any of it. Won't eat anything that isn't fruitapura, hipp or ella's kitchen She is still having the 4-6mth jars but will put her on the stage 2 when we are back as she will be 7mths then. Enjoy Morocco!!

JKS - pill not agreeing with me either caused massive rows with DH so have stopped taking it while he is away just haven't told him yet oops!!

lilyloo · 14/08/2008 21:07

Simpson at pill no shenanigans on hol then Have lovely time as hopefully won't be up to wave you off tom

Nicky she sounds to be doing fab i would stick with it ( i would be bloddy scared to change anything if dd slept that well

JKS i know i feel like i lost my partner in crime r/e the no sleep but fingers crossed you left this bloody awful club

Betterhalf he will be fine

Well she didn't wake from nap until 4.45 then ds needed taking to football training. So ended up stayingto watch him (guilty mummy complex , go home for dd tea, stay for ds) so she had a banana for her tea at 6.30 but had big milk feed bed at 7 and not peeped since!

OP posts:
madmouse · 14/08/2008 21:14

LaT and Lily and JKS still bf here and still waking. But I do not mind waking for one of nathan's efficient feeds with him going straight back to sleep. It is the not being able to settle, whingeing every half an hour, apparent tummy pains while getting used to solids...and then being wiiiiiiide awake at 6.45. Must say last few nights have been a bit better. Tonight he fell asleep downstairs after a bit of breast, woke up while being carried upstairs, tried to latch on halfway upstairs and was out again after more milk.

I have decided to wean him onto formula at 8months though as I am going to work at 10months and I want to be done by then and I have a feeling nathan won't eaily be persuaded . Anyway hoping the good air of the North will tire him out in the next week (but it does not work that way Lily )

JKS can't believe you bought that insane penguin. Funniest is when Nathan gets tired of it and tries to bat it away, then is unable to comprehend why it keeps coming back even harder

must go pack (grunt)

lilyloo · 14/08/2008 21:17

Madm you off tom ?

No the good north air def not working here

OP posts:
madmouse · 14/08/2008 21:21

coming a long way your way - Northumberland, between Carlisle and Newcastle. You in Lancaster? I will wave

You note I am still not packing so tired.
