Hi all....oh dear, I'm struggling to keep up at the moment....sorry! DH and I joined the local David Lloyd gym a few months ago and I've started really enjoying going...I used to go to LA Fitness and it always felt a bit of a chore, but I really like the new place....sadly, it means that most of my child-free time is now being spent in the gym rather than on mumsnet in the attic!! Better for my waistline (well, no discernable difference yet, but I live in hope), but awful for my MN social life !

Gingeme - I'm sorry, I know it wasn't funny at the time, but I must admit that reading your poo incident had me in stitches! Mainly cos I have soooo had moment like that...altho nothing quite as bad, I must say! My favourite so far was on the motorway down to Devon when dh decided to stop at the petrol bit of the services (he was convinced there would be toilets there...there weren't), and walked back to the main bit to take ds to the loo. I decided to check Tamara, as she still wasn't sleeping, and discovered she had poo all the way up to her neck and down to her feet, but luckily not on her car seat. Only after I got her undressed, on the ground next to the car between the petrol pumps, did I realise we had no clean clothes whatsoever anywhere accessible. So there was me, cuddling a cold naked still-slightly-poo-ey baby whilst DH unloaded the entire roof box to get to the kids clothes ...I shan't make that mistake again!

MrsMc - brilliant catch up....welcome back!

Lilyloo - sorry to hear the sleeping is still so rubbish...remember, this too shall pass!

Katy - hurrah!!

LaT - maybe try 'shush-pat' rather than PUPD? That way she'll know pretty quickly she's not going to get fed? It can take a while (I have been known to shush ds for about 20 mins on occasion) but it does work....eventually...

Lucky - I was also thinking 'rawhide'!

Brain gone blank, going to go and take advantage of last 10 mins of both kids resting to do washing up and laundry. Hope you all have good weekends

PS Bluebell - thanks, you inspired me to cook various fish and chicken things for tamara this week, and she's been wolfing them down! Still no poos so far today, so I reckon we're in for a big'un later, probably when we're visiting my grandma...!!

xxx

Filly! I thought you'd have an opinion on a name for the new thread!

Hello all- DD in squawky mood again so can't stay on.

LaTrucha · 15/08/2008 16:20

Filly - can you explain the shush pat to me? I think at the moment it would make Sabela scream the place down - if it's what I think it is - but it might be useful in a little while.

gingeme · 15/08/2008 20:09

Thanks filly glad I'm not the only one thinking rawhide
LaTruche it goes something like this:
Baby crying pick up pat gently shushing, though I usualy rub babys back in small firm circles shushing.
Baby calms and you place gently back in cot.
Baby cries again repeat stage 1.
Bbay calms place back in cot etc etc. It can take ages at first but it realy realy does work . A tip when you shush long shuuuuushes rather than shush shush shush get me?
Good luck xx

hi all. Mrs MC the legend lives on.

All fine here. I have agreed to go back to do a 2 week murder at the end of november/december and i am preparing in charlie's sleeps and other odd bits of time - amazing what you can do when time really short. then back in january to do a 6 week fraud at croydon then booked no other cases as have said that I want to cut work load down so I only do 3-4 cases a year so am hoping that I may get best of both worlds.

Didnt give charlie milk at lunch or tea tonight so only with breakfasy and before bed - am going to see hv next week to make sure this is ok.

went swimming today and charlie has a rash on parts of her body it looks like just really dry skin so am hoping good massage with olive oil will mean all gone tomorrow

By the way the organix rusks are sweetened with grape juice so no added sugar, so hopefully not as bad as other ones.

anyway dh out tonight so going to try and do a bit of work and wax my legs

LaTrucha · 15/08/2008 20:49

Hi Gingeme - thanks. That's what I'm doing and it seems to work. Not sure what different thing Filly was suggesting.

Nicky - if it doesn't do the trick Aveeno cream - withthe body lotions in boots - is really good.

justkeepswimming · 15/08/2008 21:03

hey filly - you sound busy!

i think the alternative to pick up put down is just to stroke their head, pat their chest (or back if they have turned over) and say shush. i prefer doing it this way.
i also make sure ds2 has his muslin close by - he likes to either suck on it or have it over his head to go to sleep.

last night i was sensible and went to bed early so got 6 solid hours before he woke the first time. so planning to go any minute to try and bank some sleep.
if all goes well and i'm still a snappy cow then i'll be pretty sure it's the pill so will have to reconsider...

lilyloo · 15/08/2008 21:05

Evening all
LOL at the rawhide well looks like we have to have that thread title now unless any objections ?
Well dd still asleep since 7 (fingers crossed)
La Trucha hows it going for you ?
Nicky def sounds like you can get good work / life balance there. I agree rememebr when i was doing my degree with 2 dc and i could do a lot in odd spare time moments!
Filly can't believe you have abandoned us for the gym is the new thread title ok for your takeover ?
Anyone started thinking of xmas yet ? I know it seems early but finances tight here esp when mat pay stops in Oct so any toy sales please link

What pill you on JKS ?

OP posts:
justkeepswimming · 15/08/2008 21:08

cerazette - heard lots of bad stuff about it

anyway, back tomorrow, off to get head down, night all.

Housemum · 15/08/2008 21:21

bye all - off on hols tomorrow! Malta here we come...

LuckySalem · 15/08/2008 21:28

JKS - I'm on cerazette and I have trouble sleeping on it (although could be the bed lol) Also find I can get a bit ratty.

Ladies ...... Don't know how to word this other than I think I may need to do a test. All my PG symptoms I had with DD are back (except sore boobs) but I can't be sure cos I'm on that pill so not meant to have an AF anyway. Hmmmmm.... (Scared as wanted to leave it till end of year at least)

gingeme · 15/08/2008 21:43

Housemum Malta beautiful. We went there for our honeymoon 7 years ago Monday
Your welcome LaTrucha glad its working. I learnt it from The Baby Whisperer books
Oooh Lucky fingers crossed, I think?

lilyloo · 15/08/2008 21:45

Housemum
JKS i am on that too hard to know whether rattines is down to lack of sleep
Lucky how do you feel ? ooh exciting !

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 15/08/2008 21:50

Don't feel that strange but got MEGA heartburn constantly, wierd (TMI WARNING) discharge again and not sleeping - which could be down to alot of things but when I was first pg with DD (first 2 weeks or something) I only managed 4/5 hours a night which is what i'm on now. BUT no sore boobs and with DD they killed me!! So in all honesty i'm hoping not yet.

Anywho!! lol

lilyloo · 15/08/2008 21:57

You gonna test ?

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 15/08/2008 22:02

I don't think so, I think i'll leave it for now as I don't do anything that would harm baby if there was one (don't smoke, barely drink etc) and I've told DP i'm not gonna take the pill for the rest of the month to see if its the pill thats making me ratty and giving me heartburn so we'll see.

I feel really depressed today. I don't know why... Probably tiredness but I'm feeling really low.

lilyloo · 15/08/2008 22:05

maybe get off to bed and have early night ? Have also heard lot's of nasty side efeects of ceazete so could be that ! I would have to know so you have more resolve than me

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 15/08/2008 22:07

Problem is when I go to bed I can't get to sleep - either through thinking too much or not getting comfy (can't wait for my bed) or something.... So I tend to spend my time down here waiting till I'm so tired that I could sleep sitting on comp and go then but I still lie there tossing and turning.

lilyloo · 15/08/2008 22:10

Lucky you do know you can get overtired

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 15/08/2008 22:15

Really?! I thought that was only babies!! lol...

DD just woke up again I've had to give her a dose of calpol. I think her teeth are really getting to her... I just wish they'd hurry up and come through.

gingeme · 15/08/2008 22:26

Lucky don't go by pregnancy symptoms babe. I didn't have any with ds2. None what so ever so don't go by that.

LuckySalem · 15/08/2008 22:27

Ginge - I'm gonna give the pill time to get out of my system before anything. See if I get a period. Then go from there. Will feel really stupid if its neg - plus I actually don't think I have anymore tests. Think I used em all up confirming DD

justkeepswimming · 16/08/2008 05:46

Housemum - have fun

Lucky - well i couldn't wait either, would have to go out and get a test to be sure.
but i think the pill generally has a lot to answer for.

lilyloo-exactly is it tiredness built up over months worth of crap sleep or is the pill affecting me badly, who knows?
for now anyway.

ds2 only woke at 5am hooray! well ok not brilliant but by previous standards it's fab. and he had done a poo - gone his longest ever of 2 days, we were starting to get concerned.
have brought him downstairs as ds1 was stirring too and 5-something is too early to deal with both of them!
watching olympics till ds1 wakes properly then will take tea and juice up.

gingeme - how far gone were you when you did find out with ds2?!

no plans today, supermarket has to be visited by someone, nothing other than that.

horsygirl · 16/08/2008 09:23

Yikes. Ds woke at half 3 this morning - i offered him milk which he clearly didn't really want so I put him back in his cot and let him cry, 'shushhing' him every minute or so. At first he was just moaning, then he became hysterical and wouldnt even take his dummy, then he took his dummy rolled over onto his side and went to sleep. The crying lasted for about 20 mins. He then slept til half 7!

Have I scarred him for life
