Oh jks I so know where your coming from. It all goes wrong at the same time doesn't it?
susie keep hold of the jars. She will eat them at a later date. Promise
George jusy had his jabs. Did very well considering it was 3 jabs.
He came home to yummy lunch so the pain was soon forgotten.

betterhalf · 10/07/2008 16:55

Toby adores the Hipp carrot and potato jar food. Can't get enough of it!

simpson · 10/07/2008 17:07

Gingeme - thanks for tip re prunes!! My DD wakes at 5am and have also tried not feeding her straight away in the past but bless her, beleive she is hungry so do just tend to feed her now. She has gone 11 hrs with no bottle so guess she would be, just would like her to go near till 7am though. Hopefully the solids will help...

Amani - Thought the programme was quite shocking. Especially the woman who thought her placenta was low lying, she still went ahead!!

JKS - Sorry for your bad start to day, hopefully things have improved!!

Hi to everyone else!!

simpson · 10/07/2008 17:11

Lilyloo - glad last night not too bad hopefully tonight will be just as good/better!!

LuckySalem · 10/07/2008 17:11

Hi all,

Well am sitting here feeling totally naughty for yesterday! lol
I bought a PS2 from ebay, then spent £130 on mothercare.com, and £80 on greatuniversal - really did need some new bras though so I spose its justified.
Am now sitting down to sort out Avon stuff as I have to deliver the catalogues tomorrow or i'm not gonna earn enough money to pay off my spending spree.

I have read through and I'm sorry to hear about the nappy explosions and that there are still some not so good sleepers.

DD has woke in a complete bitch of a mood so its really hard to do anything here now.

Hope everyone is ok though.

simpson · 10/07/2008 19:44

Lucky - just had a bit of a spending spree also. Me and DH just bought a new bike for £250. Means I can have DH's old one in my bid to get fit!!

nicky6 · 10/07/2008 20:41

all well here although i think i will have to take charlie to docs she's had a really chesty cough but only when she wakes up so i think i better get it checked as she has had it a couple of weeks or more.

charlie has now had carrot sweet potato and butternut squash and all seem to be going down ok will start adding a cube of fruit at breakfast time.

When do you start giving them more than one cube of stuff??

fillybuster · 10/07/2008 20:56

Nicky - when they're polishing off what they're given and asking for more, basically!

Just had the bedtime from hell here and am still in shock 45 mins after getting the kids into bed.

Partly my fault - took both kids around the corner for a play date with a friends' twins this afternoon - she has a new 4 week old so we were the older ones! -all went well...DS played beautifully with the girls, Tamara was good despite cold etc etc Tamara had a nap, the kids had dinner together, then we decided to bath them together as well...by which point it was so late that I decided to feed Tamara her dinner there whilst DS watched CBeebies with the girls. In fact, everything went swimmingly until we got home at 7.20 and I told ds to go and put his pjs ok....and he went into total meltdown. So I left him tantrumming, washed Tamara, got her into her pjs, then tried to deal with ds, at which point she started screaming.... Anyway, I had lots of fun with two overtired screaming kids for the next 30 mins....!!!

It wouldn't be so bad, but I had cancelled a date with dh this evening (because of T's cold) so I was already feeling a bit gutted...

OK, I guess it wasn't so awful - but thanks for letting me rant!!

Got to go and do more cooking...can't face the kitchen, I know it looks like a bomb has exploded in there....

LuckySalem · 10/07/2008 20:58

Filly - I know what you mean and feel free to rant.....

AngeChica · 10/07/2008 21:01

Ladies

if you need a laugh see this thread. PMSL.

LuckySalem · 10/07/2008 21:03

Oh Ange I've been keeping an eye on that its hillarious!!

AngeChica · 10/07/2008 21:05

I can't believe I'm telling you this but apparently when I was a toddler I did a no 2 in a display bathroom in MFI .

AngeChica · 10/07/2008 21:06

I was well toilet trained at least.

simpson · 10/07/2008 21:14

Filly - DS had total meltdown tonight as well. Although not as bad as you because DD was ok. DS was sooo bad no book, or in the Night Garden straight to bed after bath. Was asleep by 6.30!!! Its coz of last nights wakings I think. But its meant I have longer evening to myself though!!!

Angechica - going to football match tomorrow eve, friendly. town V Brentford. Will let you know what new team is like!!Great thread link BTW!!

mixedmama · 11/07/2008 09:19

Morning all...

At least the weekend is here.

Had a nesting moment yesterday as Dh was picking the boys up so blitzed the house totally and had a go on the exercise bike....

Have planned dinners next week in a bid to write a shopping list and not chuck so much food away. Also have to make a huge bulk of food for DS2.

My cousins birthday on Sunday and my dad flies out on Monday so we have a family meal on Sunday at a local Turkish restaurant as my dad gets incredibly annoyed with any other food.

Just need to get through today.....

Hellllooo to you all.

Amani · 11/07/2008 10:25

Morning

lilyloo · 11/07/2008 11:50

Morning all
Well last night not as good i caved in and gave her a feed at 12 but she slept in until 7.30 so can't complain.

JKS poor you you really seem to be having a tough time of it at the mo it sometimes seems more hassle doing something than staying in mnetting and cbeebies Hope today is kinder to you!

Wow Lucky hope you have a good avon order

Pera sounds like you getting there with sleep , fingers crossed i don't want to count chickens either !

Gingeme i think he must be hungry if he is draining a bottle so i guess he not able to go through yet he will get there!

LOL Ange at MFI i remember when we were looking for new car and ds sat in one in a showroom and weed in it we just returned key and ran out of there

Mixedm i have started meal planning too and it does work!

Nicky i would just start adding another cube at a time of the ones you know she likes until you have a few. DD has about 3 cubes at the mo she even tried some of our tea last night corned beef hash and loved it!

Susie i think it was the fact i stopped the feeds so she has had to relearn to settle herself without it but it's early days yet. I haven't even bothered with jars dd1 and ds would never eat them either!

Filly hope you recovered from last night it seems when it goes wrong it does so in spectacular fashion doesn't it. We were running late for school this am then realised ds didn't have clean school jumper so had to put one of last years on . then they had shut the road at the bottom of our street so had to go the long way round, then they had put road works near ds school so took me 35 min to do 5 min journey and ds 15min late for school Have only just recovered

Morning Amani , Betterhalf, madm, kelix hope i haven't missed anyone else

Well i am going to tackle ironing mountain now so pop back soon!

Hi all, just a lazy day here after a rubbish night. Little mister horrid fed at 8.30, 11, 1, 3.45, and then woke at 6 with tummy ache, fell asleep on me, then cried for food at 6.30, then cried with tummy ache at 7. Any wonder he has tummy ache.

I was almost crying with tiredness, so dh took monster and when I came to it was from sounds from the nursery (where ds doe snot sleep yet, but gets dressed etc) where dh was busy dressing Nathan an hour and a half later just managing before he had to scoot off to morning prayer. sweet and more helpful than vacumming the house

ange, I emailed dh that thread and he complains you cost him half an hour of lost sermon preparation time by the time he had read it, finished rolling over the floor laughing and got himself back together . It is hilarious and slightly terrifying.

Hope you all have a good day .

justkeepswimming · 11/07/2008 13:51

having a better day today thank goodness! well so far...

went to a new 'messy play' group this morning - decided rescue remedy would help me float through the ds1 causing chaos bits
anyway he loved it and only climbed on the tables twice.
was not really ideal for ds2 and ended up carrying about on my hip for nearly all of it as he will not lie on the floor for very long happily anymore. almost tempted to take his walker next week as they have a lovely wooden floor

both boys napped, i had 15mins (which i now accept as a good nap rather than the hour i used to get a few months ago). ds2 currently in his door bouncer looking like the cat with the cream, turning himself round and round. he's grown since i last put him in it and it's far too low, but too hard to adjust once he's in.
waiting for ds1 to wake up then we are off to a friend's to help her get rid of baby toys then off to the fairground for a colleague of dh's leaving do - rides + chips for the kids, then home for bedtime, then out for chinese & karaoke for the adults.
anyone ever done karaoke sober??????

lily - thanks and i hope you have recovered from such a hellish journey this morning.

(woohoo, he's started bouncing, like he's just invented the wheel by the look on his face!)

um, sorry long enough, gingeme, hoe your bread maker is keeping up, will have to get a recipe from you to try in my machine (mine is a morphy richards).

hi all, hooray nearly the weekend!

simpson · 11/07/2008 15:06

Hi all

House looks like a bomb has gone off as had RL friend round with her 2 DCs. But DS enjoyed himself and shared his toys nicely.

Have decided I am going to give DD puree for first few weeks of weaning as I don't beleive she will be ready for BLW at 26 weeks so off to supermarket later. Am going to do a load of carrot, a load of sweet potato and a load of broccoli mixed with potato. Can anyone thing of any purees their LOs like? I have Annabel Karmel book somewhere, just have to find it!!

DS got a Dora the Explorer sticker at play group today it is enormous he has been putting it on me and I keep trying to "lose" it but no joy! Looks like i'll be going to supermarket with it on at this rate!!

Amani · 11/07/2008 16:20

Simpson my DD2 loves butternut squash puree (so do I, I ended up eating some of it when I made it the first time - it's so yummy), sweet pot, carrots. Wasn't to keen on broccoli and spinach - think the flavours were too strong for her.

Does anyone know how much extra calories you need if you partiall BF? (Being optimistic as I've eaten two cream cake today - my body needs it right?)

Went to House of Fraser today and don't know if the sales assitant there was trying to flatter me or was slightly mad, but I was looking at the sales rack and she came up to me, asked me if I needed any help etc then said 'Well a tiny thing like you only needs to look at the size 10s that are over here' ...think my magic underwear from M&S worked....lol...

simpson · 11/07/2008 17:08

Cheers for tip on butternut squash Amani, had forgotten about that.

Came back from supermarket to find ambulance, police etc in our street near my house. Our neighbours alerted police coz another neighbour who they know quite well has not been seen for a few days. They called police as she wasn't answering door and her dog was barking all the time etc. Police broke in and found her passed away in her bed (she was only 67). Sad to think she did not have any family to miss her.

Had to talk to police because I was talking to her on tuesday. Want to know time frame I guess. Another neighbour has taken her dog in for the meantime..

Supposed to be going to watch footie this eve, I wish it would stop bloody raining...

fillybuster · 11/07/2008 20:08

Simpson- how awful!

Amani - v jealous...don't think anyone would be saying that to me ...which pants were they??!!

OK, both kids finally in bed, thank goodness its the weekend. I've still got an awful cold - its been over a week and I think its turned into sinusitis (basically I have something rather like custard coming out of my nose non-stop....sorry if tmi!! )...guess I'll make an appt with the gp for me and Tamara if we're both still like this on Monday. Really unpleasant as the pressure in my head is giving me awful headaches...and poor Tamara is just a snuffly, coughing, sniffing, snotting little girl Although she is being amazingly sweet despite clearly feeling poo...

Indian takeaway tonight, hurrah! Admittedly bad on the calorie front but am hoping some chilli will help with my sinuses....(ok, a poor excuse...!)

Hope you all have luvverly weekends, xxx

LuckySalem · 11/07/2008 21:06

Aww Simpson that's horrid. Poor lady - everyone deserves to not be left like that....

Have just collected a couple of Avon orders and I really need a few more!! lol

Missed my mothercare delivery today cos I was helping my grandad with his book-keeping and now i've gotta pay £12 to get it delivered tomorrow (that's if they got my msg) otherwise it's not gonna be here for eastbourne and I need some of the stuff for eastbourne.

Speaking of which 2 more Sleeps woohoo

Today DD walked!! I held her hands but she walked a whole 2 steps!!

Naetha · 11/07/2008 21:26

Hello all, sorry I haven't been on recently, been stupidly busy!

Just had our bathroom and bedroom finished, and they're both lovely! We bought best part of £1200 of Ikea furniture, but once we got it all delivered, we couldn't face putting it all together, so we got a handyman friend of ours to put it all together for us for £60! Not a bad deal I think, given it would have taken us about three days and several injuries to do it ourselves!

Now we just need to frantically tidy the house in preparation for a cleaner coming on Tuesday to give the house a deep clean. I can't believe how much I am looking forwards to this!

All this is in aid of The Visit from the mother in law . She lives in Jersey, and hasn't been to visit for four years (since we got married)so it's quite a big deal. Having said that, it's a great excuse to get our house sorted and redecorated. I've re-booked the decorator to come back in September and do the front room, dining room and hall/stairs, so we will no longer have any flock wallpaper!!! Yipee!!!

Ben is doing fantastically He's just started crawling - it's more of a forwards shuffle than a crawl, but he's definitely motoring around. I left him on the rug in the front room while I dealt with some paperwork in the dining room. It had all gone very quiet, and I went in to find he'd made his way over to the Sky box and was staring at it in wonderment! Needless to say part of our redecoration in September is going to involve re-arranging much of the electrical equipment so that it's out of reach / out of sight and hopefully out of harm's way! If you put something he really wants about three feet in front of him, he gets there by getting onto all fours and throwing himself forwards repeatedly. Takes him about 10 seconds . And while I'm obviously very proud of him for crawling so early....in many ways I wish he'd stay immobile for a while longer! He's also started doing massive belly laughs randomly, but mainly at the cats. If a cat comes and sits in front of him and starts to wash, he will usually scare it away by laughing and giggling manically! That's if he hasn't managed to shuffle forwards and start chewing it's tail (has happened before - strangely the cat didn't seem that bothered!).

He's also racing away with his eating - wolfing down finger foods and lumpy purees. His favourite is tender stem broccoli - he chews it for about half an hour, and by the end of it, all that's left are a few stringy green bits. I've almost given up with things like rice cakes and Organix carrot / sweetcorn fingers as he eats these far too quickly. He will happily munch six or seven rice cakes and still want more even though he's just had 5 cubes of puree and a fromage frais. Well at least it explains why he's 20lbs at 6 months!

Apologies for lack of personals - I have read all the posts though and can't believe how everyone is coming along! Big hugs to all of you having un-sleepy babies though - my heart goes out to you!
