'next sale'
Simspon our asda has half price sale on i got dd a couple of dressing up outfits for a fiver each!

OP posts:
simpson · 16/07/2008 13:41

Lilyloo - Unfortunately we are nowhere near an asda and I don't drive. Oh well will go into nearest town later and see what I can pick up... V jealous at having a slot online for next sale saves the madness of fighting your way round shop!!

lilyloo · 16/07/2008 13:48

woolworths can be quite good
if not ds went to a party once and he was dressed as pirate with denim shorts a red and white striped t shirt i painted him a beard and a scar on his cheek pinned a soft toy parrot to his shoulder and he had a pirate hat and sword it looked good and easy and cheap !

simpson · 16/07/2008 13:51

Hi all

Nathan is having a long nap. still tired from yesterday. took him to my office in Birmingham so he saw too many hands and faces. especially since there was a fire alarm and we had to stand on the street for 20mins, without pushchair. a male colleague ended up holding him for me.

then had to take him to weight watchers too as dh had meeting. lost 3 lb despite bad week. leader advised me to swap to the program where you do not have to count, just stick to a healthy food list.

I have confirmed to my manager that I plan to return to work subject to nathan continuing to do ok and me finding a child minder. I am due back in December and am slowly getting my head round the idea.

Nathan wolfed down cauliflower cheese from a jar yesterday then screamed with what seemed like tummy ache. Anyone else had that? He seems to have a rather sensitive system. His poo was impressive, after a few days without one and eating solids. dh had to take over as I was gagging sorry for tmi

oh well at least we know it is getting in

havig an easy day today, kicking the leaves with a trip to tesco the most taxing.

fillybuster · 16/07/2008 14:45

Just had an awful morning...was charging around trying to get things sorted pre-holiday (off to devon for a week self-catering) and was bouncing between tesco and GP (finally got my sinusitis checked out)...anyway, called home to check both kids ok cos of their colds and got pulled over by an unmarked police car !

Of course I shouldn't have been on my phone when driving (altho it was on loudspeaker and I was sitting at red lights), so entirely my own fault, but I'm so upset...I've been given an £80 fine (ok-ish) and 3 points on my license (awful!) - and I have to take the kids into a police station this afternoon to hand over my license as I didn't have the paper bit with me

I am so so so upset with myself....esp as I had a clean license all my life until last year when (according the the cameras, I don't remember doing it) I went through a just-red light. So now I have 6 points...

Sorry, obviously I totally deserve it but it was really horrible being pulled over and having to get into the back of the police car...just so glad the kids weren't with me...

lilyloo · 16/07/2008 14:50

Oh Filly poor you. My sympathy i had to ring work last year to tell them i wouldn't be in on time for my class when i got stuck in a taxi strike. My car wasn't moving i had been stationary but luckily just got a telling off my policeman who saw me guess it's down to how they feel on the day but agree it really shakes you up when you don't have any dealings with police!

OP posts:
LuckySalem · 16/07/2008 15:35

I'm back - Wish I wasn't...

MM - Hope nathan's teeth are getting better!!
Filly - Sorry to hear bout the police I got 3 points a few months ago for that it's horrid isn't it!!

I had a brill time in eastbourne. Came home to be peed off with DP from the moment I walked through the door. In fact before then!! On the way home I picked him up from work (3am ) and he's going on about how we need to get the washing machine fixed cos the washing is piling up! (hmm thanks luv - no hello, missed you or anything)
Then get home and the house stinks of fags is a tip and the cats bowls are empty (water bone dry) Why is it only me that can do this!!

Make matter worse while I was down in eastbourne I met my ex (friend's brother) again and I still have feelings for him so to come back to this was even worse IYKWIM.

Anyways enough ramblings. I hope you is all a ok.

LuckySalem · 16/07/2008 15:40

Sorry girls - just realised ive come back and started moaning straight away. I'm really sorry.

lilyloo · 16/07/2008 16:36

Lucky glad you had good time but shame bout the return.
Going to play devils advocate here but maybe he noticed all the things you do and that's why he started moaning as it was more than he could cope with ?
Poor cats though i would be inclined to tell him i would put them in a cattery next time i go away.
On the missing you front did you say you had missed him or did he just start on his rant straight away ?
As for the ex i think sometimes when you are away from stress of life etc. everything has a rose tinted tinge to it am guessing he was an EX for a reason?
Chin up and tell us what lovely things you did on hol , in some ways it shows how invinsible we are

OP posts:
simpson · 16/07/2008 17:26

Madmouse - glad you are having a relaxed day sometimes one is definately needed!!

Filly - sorry to hear about points on your licence. Really feel for you especially as not feeling well either.

Lucky - welcome back!! Glad you had a good time Grrr to your DP.

Lilyloo - Cheers for your suggestions earlier. Got dressing up outfit from woolies was £12 reduced to £4!! Is a builders outfit and complete with bob the builder hat & tools that DS already has, guess who he is going as!!?! He is V excited.

LuckySalem · 16/07/2008 17:34

Yeh he's an ex cos he moved (that's the only reason)

Cats i've given them a whole tin of meat to say sorry.

First things I said to him were hiya - did you have a nice couple of days and then he said yeh but we have to sort out the washing machine.

LuckySalem · 16/07/2008 17:38

We went to the sealife centre and went a fed my friends ponies (which doesn't sounds like much but it is) Aaliyah loved the horses. She sat on one and tried to pull its mane out so I had to take her off quick

Had a nice meal out and a drink etc.

simpson · 16/07/2008 17:51

Glad you had a good time relaxing Lucky. Did DD enjoy herself? Do you think you need to sit DP down and tell him how you feel?

Kelix · 16/07/2008 18:03

LuckySalem - glad you had a good hol, sorry to hear bout DP. Cant think of anything better than taking your DD to see the ponies. EVery little girls dream
Filly - crap about police, didnt know it was illegal handsfree? I suppose you still have to pick it up to dial and stuff.
Simpson - dressing up outfil sounds ace, was going to suggest wollies as was in there yesterday eyeing up the fancy dress stuff, think DD a little young for that just yet tho. They had some well cute outfits for girls
Didnt get much from shopping but have booked to have my hair done tomorrow so am happy. Am spending whats left of my maternity pay before I have it! Going to be very poor soon so trying to make the most of it

LuckySalem · 16/07/2008 18:25

Kelix - I'm secretly trying to make DD like ponies cos I love them and miss riding so if she grows up liking them then I can go riding etc with her again

simpson · 16/07/2008 18:33

Kelix - noticed there was so much more choice for girls outfits than boys, all that princess, fairy stuff!! V cute. Only had about 4 outfits for boys but at least I got one.

Lucky - I used to horseride too and would be thrilled if DD or DS wanted to learn although is v pricey from what I remember.

LuckySalem · 16/07/2008 18:36

lol simpson - I will find the money! !

simpson · 16/07/2008 18:47

Lucky - there is a 14 yr age gap between me and my brother and when he was about 5 he wanted riding lessons and I was thrilled to go every week and lead him around on a shetland pony. Great fun!!

madmouse · 16/07/2008 21:22

Hey Lucky welcome back. Missed you. Try to forget about the ex. You decided to start a family with dp for a reason and the ex just looks appealing because you are going through a rough patch. At least I hope!

So, how about a Birmingham meetup then . I seem to remember we were going to sort something out and then my broadband went kaput.

How about mon 28, wed 30, thu 31 July? We can meet at the Bull in the bullring and find somewhere to sit and talk or I can pick anyone up from the station who is not familiar with the city centre? I am easily recognised as the woman with the cute little man in the sand coloured phil and ted and the insane penguin shaped changing bag on her back

When I spoke to my manage at work yesterday I asked after a colleague from another office who I know quite well and who was due to have her baby a month before me, but by that time I was on maternity leave. Was so shocked to hear that her little boy died of cot death at two months of age . Having been so afraid to lose Nathan I got to keep him and she waked into his room to wake him from a nap and he is gone . Can't imagine how she is feeling. She is back at work and I have written to her. Would love to speak to her, but on the phone at work is probably not helpful to her as she tries to keep things together.

anyway, sorry for long post, goodnight all.

LuckySalem · 16/07/2008 21:52

MM - That's really sad. Poor woman

I'm trying to forget the ex. I'm just having serious problems with DP and its mostly my fault cos I can't tell him. Everytime I try to tell him I end up biting my lip so we don't argue.

simpson · 16/07/2008 22:12

Lucky - sorry to hear that things are not great at home. Just what you don't need when you come back from hols. This might be totally random but is there any way you and DP can go out just the 2 of you for meal or something to talk or even get away for a few days with DD. Rediscover why you fell for each other?!

AngeChica · 16/07/2008 22:23

Brrrrr, madmouse ...that is all our worst nightmares isn't it. Just tragic.

Got DS weighed today - he is 21 lb 5, at 24 weeks, however, that is only 5 oz gain per week since I last got him weighed, so think he's finally tailing off . HV says I need to start to cut down his milk and increase solids which should help with the sick.

New baby and tiredness surely puts all relationships under strain I think Lucky. I get annoyed with myself sometimes, as I've never been able to express myself properly when arguing!

Night all.

simpson · 16/07/2008 22:35

Madmouse - missed your post earlier. How awful for your work colleague. Every ones worst nightmare.
