Hope things go ok with DH ria.

One of my favourite dishes to cook is jambalaya. Cook onions, chicken, peppers and chorizo, add passata or tinned tomatoes and some chilli. Cook some rice and add it to the chicken in tomato sauce. Serve with warm tortilla (we like to pile the jamabalaya in tortillas) and natural yoghurt.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 05/07/2008 09:23

Ouch for 4 oclock! We were up at 5, which was bad enough. Hope all is well for DH, Ria.

lackaDAISYcal · 05/07/2008 11:53

good nearly afternoon. hope things are ok with DH today Ria.

Jammy, did you get my text message and see the posts last night about spurious emails from your address book?!

Got my bambinex nappies this morning, five and two wraps, and also the lollipop ones but only one of each type the stingy less than generous beggars. Not sure how vigourous a test you can do with one nappy; the day packs seem to make more sense so you can get a good go at it. I'm not convinced by fleece and microfibre nappies anyway, but we'll see how they do; they might surprise me.

School fete today at which I'm helping and it's been pissing with rain all bloody morning. typical, the weather here has been fab all week!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 05/07/2008 12:12

Afternoon chicks!

Ria, hope it goes well with dh today.

Jammy, good luck, I'm sure you'll do brilliantly!

Daisy, that is a bit stingy! 2 nappies to test! How are you supposed to do a week's worth of testing with 2 nappies?

I've only caught up a little bit, so hope everyone else is ok.

My new fridge is supposed to be here between 2.30 & 6.30, but the delivery guys have just phoned to say they have broken down and will be 2-3 hours late! So now I have no idea when they'll be here and I'm bored...yawn!

Also my Sky is broken, so I can't even watch TV...double yawn!

And dp has disappeared to play golf...triple yawn!

Maybe I'll do some internet shopping and buy myself something pretty!

lackaDAISYcal · 05/07/2008 12:17

It's not even two the same holly; it's one of each type they want me to test

buy something really nice and girly. I bought Dd a lovely t-shirt in a wee independant shop yesterday...tis beeeoutiful and was in the sale so only mildly expensive rather than extortionate. and I talked to the lady about coming to a business arrangement regarding re-useable nappies .

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 05/07/2008 12:22

Bloody hell daisy, that's really tight! You'd have thought they'd be a bit more generous. After all they'll want a good review!

I'm going to buy something pretty and fun for myself! I know I'll just end up buying the dcs things, but I can try!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 05/07/2008 13:07

OK Ladies, two apologies. Firsty, sorry t daisy, fury and anyone else who got a spam email from "me". I have spoken to DH who says that some people are using another's (in this case mine) email address as the "reply to" address when sending spam, so that it looks as if it comes from a real, known person. So sorry, but hopefully not anything serious.

Secondly, I'm not going to walking anywhere far tomorrow - certainly not teh reivsed plan of 10km, let alone the original 13 miles I was feeling a lot better last night, and did get a good night's sleep, but had some digestive trouble this morning and have just been feeling faint from lack of nourishment of past 48 hours. 10 mins of light household tidying and I need a sit down. So here's the important bit IF ANYONE HAS SPONSORED ME AND WOULD LIKE THEIR MONEY BACK LET ME KNOW AND I SHOULD BE ABLE TO ARRANGE A REFUND FOR YOU FROM THE ORGANISERS. I will try to contact you all to check and please accept my apologies as well as thanks for your support.

On a happier note, Jamlet has managed to pull herslef up from sitting to standing using the sofa The goal was to reach my apple that she took a fancy too.

Bumperlicious · 05/07/2008 14:52

Oh jammy, that's such a shame, and all that training you've been doing Hope you feel better soon.

I've had a crap day. Been bored out of my mind. DH works on Saturdays and everyone else spends time with their DPs. Was supposed go to a BBQ at a friend who is leaving for Oz, but cancelled due to shit weather. It has actually been on and off pretty nice and DD and I were going stir crazy so I loaded her up to go to the park, took her push along horse as I thought there would be plenty of room for her (carried it on top of the push chair) went and bought an ice cream (a Feast since you ask) got to the park, laid out the rug, opened ice cream and the heavens opened . So DD and I came back, soaking wet.

We are looking after a friend's DD tonight overnight. I am really nervous, especially as I am sooooo tired after a long few weeks and DD waking up at 6-6.30 atm. I can barely cope with my own, don't know how I am going to cope with two 1yos!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 05/07/2008 15:13

Jammy, how crap. What a shame after all that work ! Hope you feel better and maybe you can do it next year.

I have just bought myself a dress and a pair of silver shoes! I too am going stir crazy bumper, dp is playing golf and I can't go out in case the Currys men come with my new fridge! That is why I am shopping, it passes the time!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 05/07/2008 15:17

Oh fucking hell, I've just chosen loads of stuff on the debenhams website and they don't accept my stupid debit card...grrrr. What a waste of time that was!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 05/07/2008 16:22

Well my Dad's here for a few days now, so will catch up as and when I can, otherwise back in a few days! have fun everyone

justRia · 05/07/2008 18:55

Sorry you're going to miss your walk jammy, though enjoy the time with your Dad. Maybe you could do a 10k walk under your own steam in a couple of weeks when you're feeling better so you're training hasn't gone to waste?

We've just got back from Leeds - bloody weather and bloddy traffic. The good news is there is absolutely nothing wrong with DHs shoulder replacement, the bad news is he now has to have a bone scan to find out when the pain and limited movement is coming from

I have the headache from hell, but DH looks a lot better after a coffe and cheese & ham on toast. (and doctor who of course!)

I bought a chinese meal from Asda. Can't cook or diet under strss

lackaDAISYcal · 05/07/2008 19:05

Sorry about you not feeling well enough to do the walk Jammy after all that training. As I said in my earlier post, I'm happy that you have done enough to earn for my the sponsorship. and as such am still happy for it to go to the charity

Ria, good news about DHs shoulder op not being the cause of the pain, but bummer that they still don't know what's causing it

Well the school fete wasn't too much of a wash out. they moved a lot of stuff indoors, my book stall included. The weather cleared and it brightened though so it brought everyone out. Then it rained and they all came indoors and bought lots of books and refreshments and other stuff that was indoors. Poor DH got roped into helping; it was chucking down and he didn't have a coat so he couldn't leave to go home. He wasn't best pleased about it . DS helped me sell some books and put stuff in bags and DD sat there reading and looking cute and drawing in the punters. It was really good fun, but boy did I need to sit down afterwards. Am knackered now!

Bumper, sorry your day in the park was a wash out and I hope DDs horsey dries out soon.

holly, has that fridge arrived yet?

HellHathNoFury · 05/07/2008 19:28

Bumper sorry to hear that rain stopped play. We were pretty lucky here actually and were able to move the furniture into the garden so we could have the new carpet fitted.

Jammy that sucks about your tum. You must be gutted (excuse the pun).

DS is good, still obsessed with the hobby horse and is now able to run across the room riding it without hurting himself (much). We are worn out....do they never rest?!

He is off his food atm, and won't go to sleep at night, just screams for hours. Not sure why. But I wish it would stop.

lackaDAISYcal · 05/07/2008 19:39

Hi fury....is he teething? If it's his eye teeth or his 1st molars they can cause a lot of pain and discomfort.

How are the chicken pox...I take it he's all better now?

FrazzledFairyFay · 05/07/2008 19:45

Good news that nothing worng with Mr Ria's shoulder replacement but frustrating that you still don't know what's wrong.

Did you make a good number of sales Daisy?

Bummer Jammy. I hope you enjoy your time with your Dad.

DD and I had a 'Mummy and Daughter Day' today which we haven't done since DS came along. We went to the Science Museum and then the Princess Diana Memorial Playground. DD absolutely LOVED both. The Sceince Museum was absolutely heaving though. Dh and Ds went to see his friends in cheltenham and are staying overnight so I'm crossing everything that DD will give me a lie-in in the morning.

FrazzledFairyFay · 05/07/2008 19:46

Fury - DS is doing very similar ie off food and not settling at night. He had his 12 month injection on Monday and I'm putting it down to him feeling off-colour after that - has your DS had his recently?

FrazzledFairyFay · 05/07/2008 19:48

Have we heard anything about Mr Natty yet?

lackaDAISYcal · 05/07/2008 19:50

We sold loads.......probably made about £200 just on books and jigsaws. I didn't think there would be that much demand, but there were a fair few kiddies books which the school kids loved.

your day out sounds lovely. DS and I need to do an us day sometime soon. I did take him swimming this morning which was nice as it's usually DH's job

justRia · 05/07/2008 19:52

DH is seriously arsey, fair enough but WTF can't he piss off to bed instead of taking it out on us.

Glad your fete went well daisy, sorry the rain upset your afternoon bumper. Your day sounds good fairy.

OP posts:
lackaDAISYcal · 05/07/2008 19:54

We've got DDs MMR on Wednesday. I'm not looking forward to the after effects of that. IIRC DS was distinctly off colour for a day or so, and then again after a few days and again about 10 days after as the different components of the jab hit home.

lackaDAISYcal · 05/07/2008 19:56

tell him exactly that Ria.....well maybe be a bit less blunt

FrazzledFairyFay · 05/07/2008 19:59

I'm not looking forward to MMR, DD was very off colour for about 10 days as well, iirc. Double joy here - the second dose is given approx 6 months after the first as it's a measles epidemic area - so I will have it to contend with again in about 7 months' time. And both DD and DS are having their BCG in between - I hope they don't both react to that as well. Still, at least a couple of days under the weather is far better than them actually getting any of the illnesses.

HellHathNoFury · 05/07/2008 20:02

Fairy he had his jab on thursday but has been a bit 'off' all week... so yes is the answer to your question, but I think it's coincidence!

Daisy... we aren't even sure it was chickenpox. GP said it was but I remain unconvinced. We''ll assume he HAS had it but he might get it again

FrazzledFairyFay · 05/07/2008 20:02

BTW, I highly recommend a day out with just DS, Daisy. It was so nice to be able to give DD a bit of time to herself and she definitely played up less than she has been recently. We are going to try and make sure that both Dh and I do something just with her at least once a month.
