rad=read, see doing everything too fast today

Sputnik · 11/06/2008 17:44

Funny, i was just thinking the same. They get knocked up, then they get down again could apply to a couple of people here

Daisy, thanks to you I have had that tubthumping song in my head all day (not necessarily a bad thing)

andiem · 11/06/2008 17:51

afternoon

trace happy first birthday to chloe
sorry to hear about your scare hope she has had a good day

tantrums already! we have a bit of that her with high pitched screaming if we don't get our own way and that is just me

congratulations to the jamlet

ds1 is pushing ds2 around the garden very fast on a trike I want to cover my eyes but ds2 is grinning from ear to ear

lackaDAISYcal · 11/06/2008 18:37

lol merryberry, you wouldn't be far wrong there

me too sputnik, every time I read it. I only have myself to blame. i think we should make like the 10/10 laydees and try for something that's a song title everytime.

lol andie...after 20 minutes of it, I went into the back garden and screamed for all I was worth. Made me feel much better, but I'm sure the neighbours now think I'm a psycho

when I came back in though she was helping herself to the leftover breakfast that was in the top of the bin and saying yum yum. Strangely enough she has been fine since teatime.....

actually we ate lunch quite late so I can't think that she could have been hungry.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 11/06/2008 18:49

the jamlet just seems to get hungry at X o'clock regardless of whether lunch was early or late.

We went to the children's outdoor pool by the river today. She had fun. Then out for afternoon drinks in Starbucks. And very unusually for me I didn't want to BF so I bought her a small mug of milk, downed half myself and she sipped/spilt the rest. She looked so grown up. Plenty of standing been happening (with support) but only 1 or 2 more steps (again with underarm support)

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 11/06/2008 19:37

Wow, I just had my 1st evening in almost a year without doing bedtime! Now she's getting her last BF downstairs the plan was for one or the other of us to take her up to bed, but over the past few weeks, while DH has come up to help with teeth and 'jamas it's always been me putting her down. But tonight I disappeared once she was in her 'jamas and sleeping bag and left him to it. She wasn't impressed at first and there were some tears, but she's asleep now

andiem · 11/06/2008 19:38

well done jammy we are going to go cold turkey on the bf in a couple of weeks but first I have to make sure dh is in the country

HellHathNoFury · 11/06/2008 19:46

DS fed himself with a spoon a couple of times!
Yay!

Still no recognisable words though. pah!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 11/06/2008 19:50

Not sure I want to stop BF entirely andiem, was going to go down to morning and night only, but I said to DH yesterady that I don't want there to be much upset so if she wants milk and can't be distracted with it in a cup then I'll let her. But I would like to cut it down and get a little independence. Hopefully it won't be an ordeal, as she sometimes misses a morning feed already if we're out and she's having fun. This afternoon she was very happy with me holding a mug of milk to her lips and letting her drink that. I did find that I was VERY pleased to let her feed at bedtime as I was pretty swollen. Any hints on dealing with this? If I put up for a bit as we (hopefully) start cutting back on BF will it settle down soon?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 11/06/2008 19:51

for Baby Fury!

lackaDAISYcal · 11/06/2008 19:59

yay baby fury ...now you can look forward to even messier mealtimes and strops when you try to wrestle the spoon away from him . we use two now (or two little forks), one for her and one for me, but she still wants both, typically.

jammy, your boobs should settle pretty quickly into not producing milk through the day. iirc it only took me a few days before it all settled down, but not sure if me being pregnant had an effect on that or not.

DD will also take more if I hold a proper cup for her, but gawd it's such a faff!

All quiet here now. She guzzled her formula tonight like she'd never seen milk before. fingers crossed she will sleep all night.

i have no idea what to eat for my dinner. I feel really hungry but every time I look in the fridge, nothing grabs me...except for slices of emmenthal cheese.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 11/06/2008 20:24

fish finger sandwiches Daisy! Works for us whenever we are hungry but don't know what to eat.

buntinglicious · 11/06/2008 20:32

We feed on an as and when basis now and I never get engorged. Seems to have settled down very quickly. It's very liberating actually. Bizarrely though, I can't seem to feel a let down any more. I always felt one quite sharply until recently. Also DD seems to want to feed with both boobs out swapping from one to the other!

andiem · 11/06/2008 20:36

jammy I only feed am and pm and in the night and I don't get engorged at all I dropped daytime feeds gradually

ds2 likes to try to crawl off with my boob in his mouth in the pm

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 11/06/2008 20:39

I have hardly ever felt a let down when BF. Odd.

buntinglicious · 11/06/2008 20:47

LOL andie, DD's favourite position is standing to one side of me with one leg in the air

lackaDAISYcal · 11/06/2008 20:50

oooh, really painful letdown here like someone tightening jubilee clips around my boobs.

No GF fish fingers ..but that does sound rather nice.

Am watching Eastenders...is she going to steal the baby or isn't she????

OP posts:
lackaDAISYcal · 11/06/2008 20:51

am quite sad that we never got to the comedy position stage of BFing . Maybe next time?

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 11/06/2008 20:53

Jamlet still feeds lying across my lap. Her legs just stick out further than they used to

andiem · 11/06/2008 20:57

tbh it is becoming a deal breaker for me
as is the breaking off to clap and shout
the pulling my top down and clawing at me
can you tell I'm ready to stop

buntinglicious · 11/06/2008 20:58

Apprentice!!! See ya later!

Sputnik · 11/06/2008 20:58

Well we seem to have gone back to exclusive bf here lately, as Baby Sputnik only seems to want a bit og yogurt and the odd bit of ricecake with this cold and bad ear business.

Hoping it'll be back to normal soon, which is usually early morning and bedtime as fixed feeds, with mid morning and mid afternoon as optional, depending on circumstances.

lackaDAISYcal · 11/06/2008 20:58

are you winding things down now andie?

OP posts:
JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 11/06/2008 21:00

The thing that is getting to me is that she pulls my hair out in huge clumps and/or pulls at my lips and scratches my gums and/or pulls my glasses off all the time she is feeding.
