Oooops Fury! How did you do that? Are you ok? Did you have hunky firemen?

lackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2008 20:12

It wasn't too bad fairy. They have a separate childrens A&E department with lots of toys and stuff so DD was getting entertained.

DS has a habit of taking toys from her and playing with them himself, so she has started letting out a high pitched squeal every time he comes near her. It was quite embarrasing

Are you OK fury? have you done any damage to your kitchen?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 12/06/2008 20:13

Fury What have you been up to

Daisy, sorry to hear about an afternoon in A&E. Glad to hear DS is much better though.

Glad the birthday was good Fairy. Can't believe it'll be the jamlet's turn tomorrow! We ended up shopping in Oxford today as our attempts at a day out visiting National Trust places failed miserably. So we bought her a couple of extra presents: a Maisy plate and a butterfly towelling poncho thing to use when swimming etc. Then we went for sushi and she charmed all the waitresses and the owner

HellHathNoFury · 12/06/2008 20:20

Oh I am fine, so is the kitchen!
I am just glad I was here so I caught it straight away!

I bought a breadmaker, and I have been off sick for 2 days, and so I thought I would have a go at using it, anyway it was working fine until I was on the phone and smelled smoke, ran over to the kitchen and saw that there was smoke and stuff pouring out of the breadmaker and I put on an oven glove and pulled the container out to see that the element was on fire and it was rapidly growing.

Turned off the plug, bashed the element with my oven glove, waited til it all cooled down, washed the smoke stains off the walls and hoovered up the debris.

The house still stinks of smoke though, it's vile.

Thank goodness I hadn't set it on timer and gone to bed/gone out. Also discovered the battery had gone on my smoke alarm. Am feeling....lucky, but unlucky IYSWIM.

Anyway Amazon are collecting it on monday and replacing with a new one.

buntinglicious · 12/06/2008 20:20

You weren't the only one fury

Daisy, hope DS is a bit better. What a crap way to spend an afternoon!

HellHathNoFury · 12/06/2008 20:21

DAisy hope DS is ok!

LittleMissNorty · 12/06/2008 20:25

Evening all

Poor DS Daisy....hope he's OK

I'm at work tomorrow so Happy Birthday to Jammy's DD for tomorrow

Ohhh Fairy....could you be next

buntinglicious · 12/06/2008 20:28

Fucking scary fury! Was it faulty? I'd want more than a fucking replacement from Amazon!

A good reminder to everyone to check their smoke alarms (p'raps not when LOs are in bed though). Ours is a central system in the house, but it goes off at the slightest thing so we often ignore it .

HellHathNoFury · 12/06/2008 20:31

Amazon were not going to give me anything else, as no permanent damage was done elsewhere or was covered by home insurance etc etc.

I tried, believe me!

LittleMissNorty · 12/06/2008 20:32

I check my smoke alarms most evenings (accidentally)

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 12/06/2008 20:32

That truly sucks!!!

buntinglicious · 12/06/2008 20:33

Can you write to the manufacturer? If it's a faulty batch they should be recalled.

buntinglicious · 12/06/2008 20:34

Right, DH wants the computer. Catch up with you all soon. try not to think about what could have happened Fury. It didn't and that's the most important thing

lackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2008 20:36

We have a regular fire drill here...Saturday lunchtime when mum makes bacon and sausage sarnies after swimming

farking hell fury; I'd want more than just a replacement as well.

My sis had a close shave with her tumble drier one day as well. She'd stuck it on and left for work, relaised as she got int he car that she had forgotten something, and when she went back in the house there was flames and smoke belching over her kitchen. And her teenage son was comatose fast asleep in bed after a very late night.

FrazzledFairyFay · 12/06/2008 20:36

I would write a very stinky letter to both Amazon and the manufacturer - kitchen appliances catching fire sounds v scary.

HellHathNoFury · 12/06/2008 20:40

I could write to the manufacturer.
But I am off work with stress, and I am a bit fragile, and yesterday I got a tax renewal notice for a car I no longer own which tipped my emotional balance, and the best price I can get to sell my other car is £6k less than we owe on it, and my Nan is trying to kill herself, and I spent £200 on booze for DS's BBQ only for everyone to blow me out, and my contract is up in 2 weeks and I haven't been renewed, and I just don't need the hassle. I am a moaner!

I am going to lie down and die on this one. I need a rest. I am in a funny place where my eyelids twitch and all my hair is falling out and I vomit for no reason and say really random words in the middle of sentences.

HellHathNoFury · 12/06/2008 20:48

Anyway, I am off to bed now to dream of kit kats.

See ya later y'all.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 12/06/2008 20:49

Fury, sorry to hear about all your woes. Sounds like something has to give, and I do agree that sometimes it's just not worth it.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2008 20:51

oh fury you sound like you are going through it at the moment.

big hugs xx

OP posts:
HellHathNoFury · 12/06/2008 20:51

Hey Jammy.
Yeah, you're right. I am choosing my battles. Normally I love a good fight but right now I need to focus what little coherent thoughts and energy I have left on DS, and my health. I do get like this sometimes (stressed).

This too, shall pass!

HellHathNoFury · 12/06/2008 20:55

Thanks Daisy

I'm ok... everyone has problems, bigger than mine too to be fair, I just struggle with coping sometimes.

HellHathNoFury · 12/06/2008 20:55

right I really am off now. Night all x

lackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2008 21:09

Does anyone use SMA ready made in 1 litre cartons?

OP posts:
foxythesnowfox · 12/06/2008 21:39

sorry I missed you Fury. Glad you are OK. How scary!

I'm off now. Am going away for a few days to I'll catch up with you next week xx
