No foxy, not jealous....I have a Gordon Ramsay signature one that the man himself gave to DH

foxy, are you going to keep going with the BFing then? Maybe she is just having a wee growth spurt? DD wasn't eating a lot of solids, but recently she has gone haywire and will eat anything that isn't nailed down...literally

hey mhc, glad DH had a good birthday. I must practice being more gracious about things

I have put my 40th birthday on hold for a year. I will be 39 again in February and will celebrate 40 the year after. the reason is that I promised myself I would be back to my "pulling" weight and fitness before I turned 40, but that plan has kind of gone out of the window and I'll only have 3 months after bub to lose three stone, so it's not gonna happen . So, no 40th for me next year

Good idea Daisy, 39 again!

Am watching This Morning. Loving Fern and Phil's interview with the 'gigalo'. He's such a jerk!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 12/06/2008 12:25

Afternoon ladies!

My ds is also in the bloody annoying bfer club! He seems to think that any time I am sat down and he is not feeding is a wasted opportunity! Everytime I go near the sofa he starts making his "uh uh uh" I want feeding noise and climbs on me, head buts my chest and tries to lift up my top! He would be perfectly happy to have no solids at all. I think it is a mix of growth spurt and security. He does it all night too. Oh well, I'm sure it's a phase, hopefully he'll grow out of it in a few months.

Very of the chickens mhc! We would love some, dp is desperate for an egloo, but atm I just don't think I've got the energy to look after them properly. I think in about a year or so we will look at getting some, we eat so many eggs in this house I'm sure it'll be worth it.

Well done on the weight loss foxy!

lackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2008 12:26

methinks i might just be 39 forever from now on though

I should be houseworking whilst DD is asleep. She is very grumpy today so I hope she sleeps for ages.

I'm getting the cold as well so feel rotten.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2008 12:29

yup foxy...good for you on the weight loss. Having your own little human liposuction machine must be helping though

holly, I love your relaxed attitude to parenting

OP posts:
foxythesnowfox · 12/06/2008 12:36

I don't think the weight loss is very good, insomuch that its quite a lot and will pile back on or not do LO any good (am wary after the whole 'failing to thrive' episode). Of course she's on solids, so it won't be crucial.

I keep thinking about the Desperate Housewives episode where a woman in Lynette's office was bf a 5 yo, and didn't want to give up as she'd have to go to the gym.

Glad you had a good time out Holly LOL at DS knowing what he wants and how to get it!

lackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2008 12:37

and holly (or DKMA or mhc or other sling users), I need some advice on slings! Will be doing attachment parenting out of necessity of dealing with a toddler and have no earthly idea about slings and how they work, which are good, how the hell you get into the things by yourself etc etc etc.

Hi foxy and daisy (mwah)!

I do indeed have a very relaxed attitude to parenting, it's much less hassle all round! The dcs do what they like, it makes for a messy house, but also lots of fun!

Right, slings...wellllll, I have a didymos, which I still use quite regularly. Sometimes even for dd! If ds is asleep in the pushchair and dd gets tired then I'll just pop her in the sling and go! I can walk for a good mile or so with her strapped to me! The reason I like it is that it's so versatile. You can do so many different carries with it and it's so much nicer to wear than a structured sling because it doesn't have straps. I find that straps dig into my shoulders, whereas the didymos has fabric which you can spread out more across your shoulders and back. If you do go for a woven wrap, then make sure it is at least 5m long, otherwise you won't be able to do all the toddler carries later on. HTH!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 12/06/2008 12:55

xpost there mhc! I guess we both love our didys!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 12/06/2008 12:58

Also agree with you on the night feeds mhc, we co-sleep too and it is built into our lifestyle. I wish he didn't still do it, but he does and that's ok!

Where did you get your eglu from and how much was it?

I do this carry with both of them. I really need to learn to do a back carry, but I really don't have the confidence to walk around with a baby on my back! I am terrified of them falling out!

I shall investigate the eglu. Dp has been going on about wanting one for ages, but I know that it would end up being me that looks after them!

You and I are very similar mhc!

Hello everyone. Thanks for DS' birthday wishes - we had a nice day.

Happy (belated) Birthday to Trace's and Zelda's and Derlor's little ones.

Daisy - might it be worth your asking whether your local college does this? - free help from trainee nursery nurses

FrazzledFairyFay · 12/06/2008 14:11

I#m very of the egglu. I'd love chickens but our garden is teenie and Dh would hate them

foxythesnowfox · 12/06/2008 14:59

Hi Fairyfay Glad you had a good day for DS.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2008 17:20

evening all

I've just spent the last three hours in A&E! Just after I last posted I got a call from school to say DS had fallen and hit the back of his head in the playground. When I got to the school he was very pale and complaining of feeling sick and having blurred eyesight and hearing and he was all woozy and sleepy. My surgery was closed for training this afternoon and the emergecny service said take him straight to A&E.

Soooooo three hours and two bored children later....he has mild concussion, as well as the most almighty bruise on the back of his noggin and a headache from hell, poor lamb. But by the time we were discharged, he was charging around like a loon and since we got home has had fish and chips, chocolate and lemonade so is feeling much better. In fact, he's already arguing that he can't possibly go to school tomorrow so I know he is just fine.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2008 17:35

thanks for the sling info laydees

I kind of toyed with the idea of a Wilkienet when I was pregnant with DD but never got around to ordering one.

fairy, glad DS had a good birthday, and thanks for that link. I shall look into what our local colleges have to offer

DD's bottom has been rank this afternoon. She is on cows milk for all but her night-time bottle and I think it's having a loosening effect...sorry if that's TMI

fairy glad ds had a lovely day

daisy ouch for your ds but he sounds better now

FrazzledFairyFay · 12/06/2008 19:42

Poor Daisy's DS - and poor you, Daisy, for enduring 3 hours in A&E. I hope he feels better soon.

FrazzledFairyFay · 12/06/2008 19:44

And in case I forget, Happy Birthday for tomorrow to the Jamlet.

I'm going to see my friend's 1 week old baby tomorrow - I LOVE newborns. Dh has already seen them and says it didn't make him broody. I thik he's a bit nervous of me going though . I have no immediate desire for DC3 now, but after a cuddle with a 7 lb bundle of gorgeousness, who knows {wink]

HellHathNoFury · 12/06/2008 19:58

oops

I set fire to the kitchen earlier

perhaps we should eat out more
