kelix - my Ds (2.10) is still in nappies. He was a size 5 but has now thinned out quite a bit as he has grown taller. He was in size 5 but can now get him size 4+ as I found out when tescos size 5 sold out. Me and DH were talking about this last night funnily enough about how DD 22 weeks in size 3 and DS now size 4+. Maybe we are starving him LOL!!! Having said that DS's days in nappies are numbered coz as soon as playgroup finishes he is in pants!!

simpson · 05/07/2008 22:31

Forgot to add not a huge fan of pampers found boots and tescos seemed to stretch round fat tummies more!!! DS using pampers ATM and have had a few problems where they have not lasted as long as his usual nappies would.

LuckySalem · 05/07/2008 22:32

For nappies go to lidl's seriously we bought DD a pack of nappies from lidl's and they are great! Only £5 for 56 nappies

Kelix · 05/07/2008 22:38

simpson - have herd that Boots nappies are great but TBH never had any problems with pampers although may be worth a try as she def has a fat little tum (def not being starved lol!!).

luckysalem - thats a bargin!! I paid £8 for 88 which is a great bargin too. Shame I bought 88 for £12 in asda last week before they went on special offer

DD fast asleep since 9 which is great as me and DP are both suffering a little from a hangover May be an early night for me.

simpson · 05/07/2008 22:39

Lucky - got a voucher in a magazine for a free pack of 56 nappies for DD in size 3. Going to open them in the next couple of days. If I am impressed I will defo switch. A RL friend spent over £12 a week on pampers nappies for 2 DCS. She has switched to tescos and pays half that, but I believe Lidls are even cheaper. Do they sell baby food there too?

LuckySalem · 05/07/2008 22:40

Yeh but there isn't much choice, Although I did pick a couple up. If you can find one ....instore sell "mumtaz" ones for 19p, or try pound shop?

simpson · 05/07/2008 22:44

I need to go to mothercare as have puncture on double buggy (grr..) and Lidl is just opposdite so will have a look...

LuckySalem · 05/07/2008 22:46

Its worth looking, Ermmm Aldi's as well, although haven't been there for a while. I may pop in tomorrow or Monday. Hmmmm

ONLY 8 MORE DAYS TILL MY MINI BREAK how sad am I?!

simpson · 05/07/2008 22:50

Have Aldis near me too so will have a look. Good for you counting down to break, everyone needs a change of scenery now and then. (6 wks to my holiday!!not that I am counting LOL!)

Kelix · 05/07/2008 23:19

Where is everyone off to?
Am thinking of taking DD to Butlins or something simular, know she a bit young for most things but sure she will enjoy swimming and probably some of the entertainment there too? Will give me and DP a break too, change of scenery sounds good to me ATM.

justkeepswimming · 06/07/2008 09:23

hi all,

ds1 is in size 6
ds2 in size 4, tho we are about to run out and thinking of trying 4+ as we've had a few exploding poos leaking!

we've been either pampers or washables so far, tried some tesco ones on ds1 last week and he got the most horrendous nappy rash - thought it was something he ate, so was treating with sudocream, etc. but it just wouldn't clear up then i realied the nappies were different, went back to pampers and within one nappy, it started clearing up!
so the rest of the tesco ones i will take back or give away.
annoying as it's hard to get big packs of size 6.

got some pull-ups from lidl and they are fine but have to say they look v girly on ds1 so may not get them again!

going to in-laws for a week in august for a holiday, will leave ds1 with them for a few days and go off with just ds2 for a more relaxing time for us. otherwise no travel plans.

aching today as did a half marathon walk last night! only got to bed at 1 so struggling today...
sure my feet would be covered in blisters but they're actually ok, one hip really aches so will be taking it slowly today. feel proud of myself for doing it tho

right, only ds2 dressed so far, should get going with the day!

simpson · 06/07/2008 09:25

Kelix - am going to Holland with DH and 2 DCs. My mum, brothers and brothers girlfriend is also coming. We are going for 2 wks near to Beach too. There is also a swimming pool. Can't wait!! When we come back we are home for a week then go to Ireland to see the outlaws and get DD christened. (DH is Irish).

DD not that great last night so am a bit tired today. She would have to be bad when I am in house on my own. DH left for work at 3.30am this morning.

gingeme · 06/07/2008 12:22

Good afternoon ladies.
Wow you have all been busy Mums
We had ds3's school fete yesterday. It was great fun and hopefuly made loads of money for the school
Bread was yummy. Only made a simple white loaf to begin with and it was very light and fluffy. DH and DS3 are currently making another one today. ds3 keeps popping into the kitchen to see whats happening next. Takes 3 hours to make a 2lb loaf and about 10 mins to scoff the lot
George is definately combat crawling He keeps going onto his hands and knees and rocking back and forth so I jokingly said to DH 'watch out he's going to be an early ceawler'. Lo and behold yesterday he combat crawled atleast half way across our living room to get to a toy . Took a film of him on my camera just in case I was dreaming it. He tried again this morning too but I think he was too hungry for breakfast to realy be bothered. Oh no here we go
Having a meal out his afternoon with friends. We were meant to be having a BBQ at there house but rain has put stop to that.
Hope your all having a good day despite the weather.
Take care all xxx

LuckySalem · 06/07/2008 12:23

Kelix - I'm only going to eastbourne for 2 nights, 3 days. Just me and DD, I'm really looking forward to it.

susiemj · 06/07/2008 12:57

at George Gingeme - better get the house child proofed - me not you! I'm sure yours has been for years.

Nappies - I use reusables or Nature babycare from boots website 'midi' size. I hated pampers/huggies etc. always leaked. Have had no problems since. And nary a spot of bum rash.

Sabela is golloping through her fruits. I think I'm going to try veggies again. Their little mouths are so sweet when they open for food, aren't they. Then in goes the spoon, then the hand, then the bib and out comes the porridge. Simply no room! I think she's beginning to understand that she doesn;t get much to eat if each spoonful turns into a 'what can I put in my mouth?' celebration. But she does like to take control of the spoon. Sometimes she even gets it in her mouth.

I'm going to my parents shortly for a holiday. I'm not looking forward to it though. My parents are firmly of the 'cry it out' / feed every four hour school of childrearing. I really have to bite my tongue because I cried myself to sleep until well into my teens and had nightmares every night. My first memory is of waking in my cot after a nightmare and screaming and no one coming. And I was bloody hungry a lot of the time too. I get totally wound up by their 'advice', but 'your parenting methods made my childhood miserable' is not really something you can say without it being a HUGE blowout, now is it? Wish I'd said I would stay at home [DH off on business] but I haven't got a good excuse for it now I've said I'll go.

Lucky - That'll be fun!

justkeepswimming · 06/07/2008 13:30

susie that's sooo sad i guess crying it out is not going to be your method of choice!!
when we did controlled crying with ds1 (at about 8mo, after he had slept brilliantly from 10 weeks!), he only had 2 or 3 nights with a bit of crying so i don't feel bad about that, but endless night after night can't be good for anyone surely?

go george!!!
gingeme - your bread sounds so much nicer than any i've made

lucky - how are you getting to eastbourne in the end?

right can someone explain how ds1 can nap for 2 hours at nursery (obv not go to bed until 8.30 that night!) but will NOT nap at home???
yesterday and today, he's spent over an hour in his room playing/complaining/learning how to open the curtains!/etc. but NO nap....
grrr.
and ds2 is only napping for 45mins max atm, not long enough for me to get stuff done or sleep myself!

yaaaaaaawn

gingeme · 06/07/2008 13:33

lol at my house being child proof for years. Youd have thought so wouldn't you? ds4 still manages to get into every cupboard in the kitchen where as ds3 never took an interest. He also likes to put things down the loo when the odd occasion the bathroom door is left open, usualy by dh . But they are usualy good boys and play with toys rather than dangerous things. Though I do make sure every plug socket has a cover.
Re nappies. Generaly I use Tesco or Asdas own unless there is a promotion on Pampers or Huggies then I'll use them. Not alot of difference in any of them realy.
Oh dear susiemj. Your parents don't sound much fun. No I don't mean it like that. My Mum had a lot to say when I had ds1 as in 'feed every 4 hours'. '20 mins one breast then 20 mins the other' etc etc but as my family grew her bossing advice petered out. Try to bite your tongue. Just remember its your baby not theres. Good luck

susiemj · 06/07/2008 13:41

JKs - Quite right. My dad's approach was 'just leave them to cry'. Nothing controlled about it.

Sorry for splurging. Didn't want to tread on anyone's toes.

simpson · 06/07/2008 14:17

Susie - that is awful! How long are you staying with them for? My grandmother is the same. Also believes toddlers should be seen and not heard.

Gingme - cannot believe we have a LO on the move already!!

Hi to everyone else. Hope weather better for you all than it is here.

LuckySalem · 06/07/2008 16:07

JKS - I'm driving. Its gonna take me 4 hours if I drive like I normally do so I've said to add another 2 hours by the time we've had breakfast and lunch etc, changed nappies, taken a walk cos we're bored of the car!! lol
So we're leaving at about 8/9 and expect to be there about 2/3. Gives us a nice afternoon there and evening. Then on Tuesday I'm leaving at around 8/9 pm and hoping to be home around 1/2am. Will be really tired but that's ok.

Aaliyah has just had a bowl of veg - carrots, broccoli & green beans. She ate it all (well apart from what hit the floor but I think that was only about 1/3rd of it.

LuckySalem · 06/07/2008 16:09

Susie - That sounds like a horrid time. I can understand why you won't want to do controlled crying.

AngeChica · 06/07/2008 16:32

Hi all

Alek has been in Size 4 nappies for a while . When he was smaller DH went out to buy nappies without any concept of sizing etc. and came home with 2 boxes of size 4+ and 5 (d'oh); they are on top of the wardrobe waiting for DS to grow into. I thought it would be ages but maybe not. Though the weight range for size 4 seems huge. Have experimented a bit with brands. Those Mamia ones from Lidl are OK. Still prefer Pampers over all others, but have been using Asda's own lately. But yes, Asda have Pampers on special at the moment so have just got a box of those.

I just Ebayed all the Cotton Bottoms I bought, I soon realised I just do not have the capacity in our little house to keep on top of the washing of them right now. And they were up to 20 lb so DS has grown out of them now. I also attempted to Ebay my wedding dress last week but no one wanted it .
Have also won a MacLaren Quest on Ebay this week. Was deperate for lightweight buggy for our hols. 2 and a half week to go and we are flying to Bulgaria for a month. I so hate flying though, had to do it sober last year as was preggers, and again this year I guess, you can't be doped up in charge of a baby can you!?

DS is sitting up for ages unaided now! But not rolling at all . He blew raspberries for a week, now has a new "song" which is really odd, like a very loud caterwaul. He is so funny.

Oooh BTW ... Go Nadal!!!

nicky6 · 06/07/2008 18:21

no time for personals but just a quick hi

dh taken charlie off fo rthe afternoon so that i can do some work - as i have agreed to go back to work in november and have to do some prep now, but my eyes sore as not used to all this reading!!

she is really teething though sore bottom and lots of poos - (started before real food introduce) hope they emerge soon.
Her little face looks so sad by the end of the day

simpson · 06/07/2008 19:00

Evening all

DS is now watching episode of In the night Garden before bed so no tennis for me Grr..

Had a very lazy day today have not been outside at all. Couldn't if I wanted to, weather is so pants.

DD been good today. Still no sign of rolling over although she is trying all the time. God knows how she managed to move in the cot the other night, we have not had a repeat performance. She is really starting to like her activity station learning to bounce in it etc. It knackers her out too!!

Right, best go and get dinner ready for me & DH...

lilyloo · 06/07/2008 19:58

Evening all just caught up

It's poured down here all weekend too.
Yesterday dc's had a party each so ended up shopping whne ds was at party as it was 30 min away and only 1 1/2 hours and spent £20 on new football boots and kit for him!
The went to watch dd in her ballet show today and after spending £12 on her costume and £40 on tickets she was on stage for all of 5 mins and was so overwhlmed by it all she didn't even move but she did look cute.
It's expensive stuff though this having kids lark

Wow the bread sounds fab think i will invest in one although asda doing their own loaves for 50p at the min so stocking up on them and freezing!

DD in size 3 nappies here and she is loving her food but is turning into a real little pudding family today couldn't believe i am still bf her and she is so chubby Hope she sucking it off me

Well suppose to be ds sports day tom but think the weather going to put stop to that at least that means dd can go to her swimming lesson.
